The Best Restaurants and Bars in Portland’s Concordia Neighborhood | Eater Portland

"Off the more trafficked restaurant rows of Alberta, Killingsworth, or Northeast 42nd, Aladdin’s sits alone at the north end of the neighborhood, quietly offering some of the best Syrian and Lebanese dishes in the city. Mediterranean entrees like flavorful shawarma and tender kabobs are served in generous portions, and both vegetarians and vegans will find plenty to enjoy, including falafel, grape leaves, mujaddara (sometimes called megaddara), and tabouli. Check Aladdin’s Instagram for special events like cooking classes and belly dancing nights." - Nathan Williams

I have been going to this place once a week fairly regularly now. The guy at the front counter is super helpful and everything I have tried is tasty. The kafta was flavorful and the traditional yerba tea packed a punch. This week I tried the lamb gyro and the lamb was very moist and the fries were seasoned well. Also gave the walnut baklava a try which was a large size and very tasty.

This place is a gem! The food was fresh and flavorful and the warm freshly made pita was a real treat! Our server was so kind and friendly and provided excellent recommendations and service! We enjoyed the chicken rice bowl with all The fresh and pickled vegetables. The meze platter was also a great way to try several different tasty items. The Meze platter is plenty for a meal for 2 people. They have a nice outdoor seating area with a beautiful purple clematis climbing up the terrace.

A group of us just had dinner there this evening. We ordered multiple dishes to have a variety and ate family style. The food was great. Each of the dishes were well prepared and presented. We topped the meal off by trying multiple desserts that are “home made.” The desserts were amazing. The baklava is the best I’ve had. Great service as well!

Google
Great food, I had the Lamb shawarma. Also, we had chicken and rice, flat bread salad, fries, with garlic flavored, dipping sauce. Premium cut, great flavor, fresh salad, and a courtesy treat for dessert. Excellent service, attentive, very friendly, with a quiet setting and a medditeranian cultural background. Great atmosphere, I recommend it. The cost for two was just under $40.

Google
Excellent food, all freshly made. Fast kitchen, especially nice service, reasonable prices. Their desserts are fantastic: cardamom, pistachio, yummm. This is definitely the place to dine in or take out Mediterranean mid-eastern cuisine.

It's a little rainy day! (outside) The food is what my family grew up with and it brought us back home! The service was great, and the atmosphere was: beautiful rain, smelled wonderful and was sweet background sound. Thank you. (Pictured are Lamb and then chicken shawarma I think)

Upon being seated, I was pleasantly surprised to find , freshly baked pita bread placed on my table, compliments of the restaurant. This small gesture immediately set the tone for the exceptional dining experience that followed. The pita bread was soft, fluffy, and had a delightful aroma, making it the perfect accompaniment to the flavorsome dishes to come. The staff members were not only attentive and friendly but also genuinely passionate about their food and ensuring a memorable dining experience for every guest. They took the time to explain the menu, made knowledgeable recommendations, and were always ready to address any questions or concerns. Their warm and welcoming demeanor created an inviting atmosphere that made me feel like a valued guest. I ended up getting the the chick shawarma, a classic that I simply couldn't resist. When my order arrived, I was blown away by the mouthwatering aroma that wafted from the plate. The chicken was tender, juicy, and bursting with a perfect blend of Mediterranean spices. Every bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors, elevated by the accompanying fresh vegetables, tangy tzatziki sauce, and fragrant rice. It was a culinary masterpiece that left me craving more.

Google
Where to begin? All the food was super delicious and flavorful! Try the Falafel fries, they are really good. The lamb shawarma and gyro rice bowls were delicious. And do not skip on dessert! The baklava and cardamom pistachio ice cream are amazing! We've been here a few times and are always blown away by the flavor. The Lamb is consistently cooked to perfection. They have a small inside seating area, but a large outside patio with lots of tables. The prices were very reasonable as well. We ordered tea, the Falafel fries, two meals, & two desserts for ~$50.

Yelp
Been in a couple times now and can safely say it is either my favorite or 2nd fav spot for middle eastern grub. Nothing fancy about this place, it's got cozy home decor and a simple menu w/ all the familiar classics. They've got a few small tables inside but a good amount of covered outdoor seating. We got the mehumara as an app not quite sure what to expect but it was a tasty savory walnut dip w/ pita but was a little much for just the 2 of us. We also tried some eggplant dish, Moussaka I believe it was called. It was pretty good as far as eggplant goes. Our favorite was the lamb shank tho - in addition to being 'slide the bone out tender' it had a delicious kind of plum/apricot gravy and dip that I enjoyed much more than the kind of tomatoey sauce I've had w/ lamb shank at other places. I also came back by myself to try the meat mezze ($20) that was fantastic - a huge spread that easily made for 2 (large) meals. Came w/ tabbouleh, hummus, baba ghanouj, a couple dolma and falafel chicken shawarma and lamb gyro meat, tho strangely no rice. I enjoyed everything except the baba ghanouj, it was really bitter, but I usually don't like it much anyway. The server told me that next time I could ask for rice instead tho which was cool. The chicken shawarma was especially good, I just wished they served it w/ a tzatziki sauce instead of what seems like spicy mayo.

Yelp
We went as a party of 6 to this restaurant, given its proximity to the area we were living at. It was disappointing in many aspects. The seating area inside is very small , we elected to sit out but at least I was bothered by whiffs or urine, likely from the toilet nearby. The food was OK. My chicken kabob was meh and so was the veggie kabob ( I prefer my cauliflower to be slightly more cooked). I heard the chicken salad was good from one of the party who ordered it. I paid about 100 USD for this food and it wasn't worth it at all. I wouldn't return since for a similar price range there are much better quality establishments in the Pearl district.

Yelp
We drives by this place so often and I said we finally have to stop. And so glad we did! Very friendly service and delicious food - I am a bit damaged by my husbands tzatziki- so every tzatziki I eat outside of our home has not enough garlic ahaha. But theirs is good and a perfect start for a meal - the pita bread is fresh and hot and the tzatziki is enough to cary over as a side for any dish. We had falafel fries which is a huge stack of fries (yummy once) and some sauce with falafel distributed over the fries. I had the three mixed kebabs chicken, lamp and kofta (which a ground meat skewer) All thee have been tasty but my favorite was the kofta :) We will be back. And since we get so many extras I decided against using the yelp coupon for a free drink!

Yelp
I've driven past Aladdin's several times and was always intrigued. I finally got a chance to try it with my mom and sisters and it was well worth the wait. The food was fantastic. Everything was bursting with flavor! We ate so much and the food didn't leave a heaviness in our guts. It was the perfect, filling, light lunch. The service was quick and attentive. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. It was covered so we weren't in direct sunlight, but still got a nice breeze. Our server also checked in frequently which was appreciated. The only thing that was bothersome were a couple bees that wouldn't go away. Otherwise it was just lovely. I've been back since my first visit and it was just as nice as the first time. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place. Sadly was just ok. Staff was super nice and friendly. Lots of parking. Food was meh. Lamb skewers didn't have much flavor. Mezza was decent. Dessert was good. Baklava was tasty and cardamom ice cream had good flavor though wasn't smooth. Felt like there were chunks of frozen cream in it.

Yelp
Called a friend this afternoon and suggested we try this place. I told her "the food is supposed to be good, the prices look competitive and tonight they have some live entertainment, belly dancers." It's October, but as you know, it's still lovely enough to sit outside which is where everyone was seated. Lots of good things to choose from on the menu. I ordered the Meat Mezza ($19.95) so I could sample a variety of things, my friend had the same idea, they ordered the Aladdin's Combo ($16.95 for chicken, $18.95 for lamb) they went with the chicken. Let me tell you, the food was delish! I took at least half of my food home and still felt stuffed. The service was great, the setting is casual, and the food is a well worth the prices. I want to go back soon to try a few other tasty looking things. On a side note, and not a reflection on Aladdin's, rather a friendly warning: We pulled into the parking lot almost at the same moment, parked, got out of our cars and had a lady yelling at us to move our cars because they belonged to her business. I was confused since there is one building, half is a quick stop market and the other half is the restaurant. There wasn't any signage, just a frustrated employee/owner yelling at potential customers. We both moved our cars because who needs the bad karma or the potential damage that might have occurred had we left them.

Yelp
It's so close to our place I had high hopes. It's fine but not going to be my go-to Mediterranean place sadly. The hummus had way too much tahini in my little opinion. They're sweet & quick but just kinda lacking in oomph, ya know?
google avatar

Ivy S.

Yelp
Everything here is good. My husband says they have the best lentil soup and I love pretty much everything they serve.

Yelp
Cute little place for some good Mediterranean food. Great service as the cook came out to seat me.. very welcoming and the owner was busy, but working well under these circumstances Ordered the Gyro w/ fries instead of standard soup or salad that they offer and then some basmati rice.. haven't felt like rice in so long! The gyro was tasty.. good amount of feta, tasty combination of tzatziki and red sauce.. although meat was thinly sliced, I still highly enjoyed the sandwich Fries were good.. remind me of fast food, if not better.. had a nice crisp and pure potato taste to it Love how they put my Coke from the fountain inside a Moscow Mule cup with a metal straw to make it Pop meaning making the drink taste great and cold Good place for Mediterranean if you're in the area

Caryn M.

Yelp
The food isn't great in my opinion and neither is the service. It's also not the best value for the price. It's been there for years and I give them a try once in a while but I won't return. It's sad because I wanted to like it as years ago it was and maybe still is owned by a nice woman.

Yelp
I love this place. The food is really very good and the family who staffs the place are kind and warm. They offer all of the middle eastern cuisine classics: humus, pits, dolmas, and more. They also offer dishes that are unique to the proprietor's family tradition- fatoush salad is one of my favorites. I can't say enough good things!

Yelp
The restaurant owner and head chef (who are one in the same) showed us beautiful hospitality you don't often experience in the last hour before closing. She served us two relaxed rounds of Moroccan tea, lentil soups, fresh pita bread, three fabulous lamb dishes, tasty Za'atr and garlic fries with feta, house recipe baklava and amazing pistachio cardamom ice cream! I also appreciate the variety of outdoor seating and the murals all around. It's a happy place I definitely recommend!

Yelp
This is about the one at the Vancouver Mall. I realize that everyone's taste is different, but to me, this was the best Baba Ganouj i ever had. The rest of the mezza plate was great as well

Maggie G.

Yelp
Have had many wonderful meals at Aladdin Cafe in the past. But when I took a friend to eat there on her birthday, the service was bad, as in having to walk to the door to the kitchen and get the attention of the waiter who was visiting with other staff, it get a drink refill. Also, when we ordered baclava for dessert, we were served dry, cold miniature product that was so hard it could not be cut with a fork. We were forced the $6.00 worth of crumbs in the dish. When I have eaten there before the owner came out to greet us and talked about his family recipes and his wife being the great cook. I have to believe he was not there and his staff let him down.

Linda J.

Yelp
Service was okay, but after spending 50+ dollars in the restaurant on food and drinks we were refused to use the bathroom. The manager or owner whoever the lady is , claimed my mom made a horrible mess in the bathroom and wouldn't let her use the bathroom. My poor mom peed her pants due to this refusal to use the restroom. I will not be returning and I will be spreading the word about such poor customer service.

Yelp
No way is this a 2-kabob chicken plate. That's enough meet for one person and it costs $20! Seriously! They have gone down hill. Burnt dry chicken and lots of dry rice, and I mean lots!!! I will never order from these clowns again. Save your money and go somewhere else! There are definitely better places to eat and you don't have go far to find them! What a joke.
google avatar

Sara P.

Yelp
I give a high recommendation to this restaurant, for the food, service, staff and ambiance. I rarely make reviews, but this place stands above, and deserves to be recognized. I am grateful to have them in the neighborhood. Now that the original Nicola's and Riyadh's are gone, I would easily call this the best middle eastern spot in the city!
google avatar

Craig P.

Yelp
Fast, friendly service. I had hummus and a chicken shawarma wrap with fries. I've sampled a lot of shawarma in Portland and this was one of the best I've had. Fries were crispy which was nice. Definitely coming here again!

Yelp
This is hands down one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I have ever eaten at!! It is as good as homemade and the taste is absolutely delish. Every dish has a uniquely traditional taste just as one would get at a restaurant back in the Middle East- and we would know cause we've lived there. The owner Dianah served us and she was so kind and hospitable! It was a pleasure to meet her as well. Would highly recommend this place for the warm hospitality and amazing food!

Yelp
The lamb and chicken kebabs were really tasty with a lot of flavor. The service was perfect and the food came out very fast

Yelp
Stopped in to order to go. Waited about 10 min and was out the door! Got home about 12 min later and food was fresh and more than warm. We ordered the Mehumara. It is just ridiculously flavorful. The homemade pita that came with it was light, fresh, and perfect. My wife got the Chicken Shawarma Plate and she raved about it. The rice was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Aladdin chicken combo. All three items were gone in about 10 min. The chicken, hummus, and tabouli were good enough that I will return for the same thing next time. I want to eat in the restaurant soon so I can try a middle eastern beer. They look wonderful. Staff were over the top nice and personable. We will be moving to that area of town soon and can't wait to be a regular here.

Yelp
First of the atmosphere was divine. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was simply amazing. So glad I came to check this place out.

Yelp
Lovely little spot to grab some dinner. I started with a fresh made mint lemonade - it was tart and refreshing, really nice! The owner asked if I wanted soup so I said "What kind?" And he tells me "The best lentil soup in the West." So OBVIOUSLY i am not gonna sleep on that, and I'm here to tell you - it was great! Highly recommend a warm bowl of soup in chilly weather. For mains I grabbed the Aladdin Combo - chicken shawarma, hummus and pita, and tabbouleh - very classic me vibes. Everything was fab, and the vibe was cozy and friendly. Definitely would return! Check this place out!

Yelp
Thought I would give them one last try. 3rd time really screwing up the takeaway order. Wife almost broke a tooth more than once due to the fact that her labne sandwich was full of olive pits. Also they forgot something in the order...... Again. As I have said, this was the 3rd time getting things wrong. Living in the neighborhood over 30y I like to give the benefit of the doubt but I can't from this point on. Goodbye Aladdin.

Joshua L.

Yelp
The owners were really kind and helpful! It's a true mom and pop restaurant. The food was sooo good and the atmosphere was comfortable and authentic! The bathroom was also really clean:) I will be going back in the future!

Yelp
GREAT FOOD- great service, great people. I have see. This restaurant in the neighborhood and decided to stop and try it out. The food was excellent. I ordered the mezzo platter. It was artistically plated and the babaganoush was perfectly Smokey and savory. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. I recommend this place.

Yelp
We found this restaurant via Yelp and it was close to the hotel we were staying in. Great food, friendly service, good wine, nice atmosphere. We were so full, an entire sampler box went home with our friend (who drove us in to our hotel so we could catch an early flight out the next morning) so her kids could try some of each food we tried. Our friend had never eaten Mediterranean food before so she felt like an adventurer. We had a great time. Mutasim & Bachar are the partner owners and Duraid is the cook. The lentil soup & Schwarma fries are awesome! Glad that we found this place & the even have a check in offer for a free soda!

Yelp
I ordered Uber eats and what I received was AMAZING food. Hot, fresh, tasty, delicious but the best most surprising part was receiving a safety sealed to go bag that was personalized and decorated with a hand written thank you messaged personalized to me. I would eat there again just for that class act move add it perfect food and it motivated me to write this review. The little things are the big things in the world of today. I totally recommend supporting and enjoying this amazing place. Thank you

Yelp
Just had our first meal at Aladdin's which, having tried most of the other Middle Eastern restaurants in Portland, we were looking forward to. It was fantastic. We've traveled a lot in the Middle East (where sharing food with family and friends is a cherished activity), so we know how authentically delicious Syrian and Lebanese food is supposed to taste. Aladdin's serves authentic and absolutely delicious food - looks beautiful, too! And the service was the most gracious we've experienced in seven years in Portland. The neighborhood is fortunate to have them, but we drove from SW Portland and now know it's well worth the drive.

Yelp
Ordered both the Meat Mezza and Veggie Mezza appetizers for the wife and I, some chicken kabobs for the kids, all for carryout. Was projected to be ready in 15-20, but was ready in 10, right as I pulled up. At first, when unpacking it all at home, the serving sizes felt a bit anemic, but as it turns out, all told we only finished one of the appetizer platters and the kabobs, between the four of us. Thus, I blame its deceptively small appearance on the to-go packaging. We've still got a full set for lunch today, and no one is complaining! As for the meal quality itself, here's my Flavortown breakdown: The baba ghanouj has a stronger twang than I've experienced at other places; I believe this is due to the freshness and quantity of the parsley. Hummus was tasty, although the to-go packaging meant less olive oil that I would have liked. I'm not a fan of grape leaves and did not partake, but my wife loved them. Tabbouli was a perfect mix, fresh and tangy. The pita bread was more like a tortilla than the puffy pockets I am used to at other places, but it did its job serving as a vehicle to deliver the goods to my taste buds, and was warm and flavorful, if a bit chewy. Gyro meat and the chicken (both the shawarma and the kabobs) were cooked and seasoned to perfection, the latter being grilled with a glorious level of char. Aladdin's is a bit further from home than I'd prefer, but after our experience, we will be back, especially once dine-in service is resumed. I am looking forward to a hot Turkish coffee and some warm baklava.

Yelp
The owner is nice and got us our food fresh and quickly! If you come here please have the chicken shawarma, falafel, garlic fries with feta cheese and mint lemonade!
google avatar

Yelp
I love what they did with their new patio! Delicious hummus and pita -- and don't miss the amazing falafel!! Plenty of vegan options for my kale heart.
google avatar

Yelp
Not much to look at but the food was fantastic. Reasonable prices and great service. Highly recommended!

Yelp
They've been a mainstay in the Concordia neighborhood for 15 years, tonight was my first time back in a decade. Big props for: ambiance and outside seating sweet lady owner HOMEMADE ice cream creative and fun to drink matte Turkish coffee excellent background music! The refreshing looking mint lemonade is a must order for a future hot day. The gyro was average, certainly not on par with Gastro Mania or Gyro King. The salad simple, the dressing very good. Prices are fair and parking is very easy.
google avatar

Lynne S.

Yelp
This place has the most delicious food! I tried the Lamb rice bowl which sits on a bed of lettuce, rice, and topped with meat, then surround by several of their delicious items! The lamb was so tender and seasoned to perfection. It's a little hole in the wall, but go there! The outside seating is nice and the customer service is is great.

Yelp
What a hidden gem this is!!! Aladdin's serves some the best Mediterranean food in Portland out of their small, cozy little hideout on NE 33rd Ave, in the quirky little 'Concordia Mall", which is really just the old time FoodVilla store and this cafe. It is well worth your searching out if you like fresh, well crafted, healthy meals at an affordable price. The interior is nicely done up in Syrian colors and crafts. The lighting is pleasant and the whole plays feels friendly. There is a great little patio out front for warmer weather. I ordered the chicken mezza plate. My partner ordered the lamb charwarma and we shared a baba ganoush. Oh, was that baba ganoush good! Creamy and smooth, a touch smokey, and a hint of lemon with a dollop of good quality olive oil. The bread was home made and warm. Light. My chicken was tender, juicy and oh, so yummy. Small morsels sat bathed in a light and fragrant sauce. I tasted notes of paprika, cumin, lemon and yoghurt. The hummus was a cut above average, not overwhelmingly garlicky, like some. It also had a delicious smoky undertone and the texture was light and smooth. My partner lived his lamb, equally moist, which is hard to pull off sometimes with lamb. He practically inhaled it. We were too full to try the desserts, which was a shame. There were five of them, looking enticing and out of the ordinary. I plan to save room for them next time. Each day they have a moussaka special and two lamb specials. There was a nice selection of savory phyllo pies calling out. And the veggie platter another coupled had ordered while we were there was met by their ooh' and ahh's. I happily recommend Aladdins. I am thrilled it is in my neighborhood.

Richard D.

Yelp
The home made bread was awesome (according to my Lebanese wife). They had Gluten free bread too, so I was not left out during Hummus time! The menu was labeled GF and vegetarian and the owner was very in tuned with GF food handling practices. The rice bowls are awesome. There is care in every dish. The falafels were to die for.
google avatar

Sonia D.

Yelp
I had the most delicious lunch today. I have seen and heard great things but today I got to enjoy the amazing food. Having a mom that is and cooks Lebanese there is a lot to live up to. We sampled a lot of different food and everything we had was fresh authentic and homemade. Fresh bread, falafel, amazing hummus, chicken bowl and amazing fries. My husband is gluten free and he was in heaven with so many options on the menu to choose from. It's been a long time since we have had a delicious taste of Mediterranean food. This hit the spot. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
3 months since we had dinner, a month or so for lunch. The menu has changed a bit, fewer items and some are only for lunch. Our party of 4 arrived on Friday evening at 6:30. The fresh bread and our appetizers, baba ganoush and hummus were excellent as always, as was initial service. I ordered the Kebe, my date the chicken shwarma. Our guests had chicken and lamb shwarmas. The shwarmas' were all great, moist and tasty. My Kebe was disappointing. The best way to describe this dish is a dark breadish top and bottom (made of bulgar) with savory meat in the middle that started out fine but the heat build up as I ate. It was over baked, but the yogurt helped. I would not order the Kebe again. After being served our meals service refocused elsewhere, but not until after we got a second fresh pita bread. If they'd offered at the right time, I'd have ordered another beer. When one of us asked for water, no one else was asked/offered. I also noticed the sounds of video gambling machines. That was something I had not noticed in our past visits. 3 out of 4 happy diners. We will not sit at the new Furniture low couches and stools they were a bit uncomfortable. The next time we drop in I hope the experience is more positive.

Robert W.

Yelp
Best Middle Eastern food we've had in Portland. We've tried others in town as we are big fans of this type of food, but they pale in comparison. Our daughter lived in L.A. for many years and loves this food, but she claims this is the best she's ever had. My mouth is watering just thinking about their food. The shawarma is excellent, as are the bowls, falafel, lentil soup . . . well everything we've tried. Service is quick and pleasant. The chef really knows this food. The location is a little out of the way, but well worth the small effort to get there. There is a decent patio, and the interior is very pleasant.

Robert P.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and have never been impressed with the food, but on occasion I give them another chance. Recently, I ordered online, received the text the food was ready, and went down too pick it up. On arriving I was told that there was a problem with the printer so they didn't get the order. So I retreated too the parking lot too wait by the car. About 20 minutes later the order was ready. After I got home and unwrapped the food I realized that very little care was taken in the preparation. The Gyro meat was cold, almost as though it was taken from the fridge and never hitting a flat top. A cold mess with wilted lettuce and tomatoes drenched in thousand island dressing. Never again

Claudia K.

Yelp
Hubby wanted to try a new restaurant, and he had a craving for Mediterranean food. So we decided to try Aladdin's, and we are glad we did! We weren't sure of serving sizes, so we ordered the Meat Mezzo appetizer plate plus Baba Ghanoush, and hubs ordered the Kabob Combo with one each of lamb and chicken, while I ordered the Aladdin's Combo with lamb shawarma, which comes with hummus and tabouli (greens). We didn't realize that hub's dinner ALSO came with sides of tabouli, hummus, baba ghanoush, one large dolmathes, and two lovely, moist falafel. We also didn't realize that both our dinners came with soup or salad. (The lentil soup is fantastic.) And when the Meat Mezzo plate arrived (plus the very large pita that came with it), we realized that we had ordered enough food for FOUR people to eat extremely well! It was all incredibly delicious, though, and beautifully plated. Hubby's lamb kabob was the BEST lamb we have ever tasted -- grilled brown on the outside, tender and pink on the inside. (That review that says it was served "burnt" is SO WRONG. It's PERFECT.) The restaurant itself is tiny, with only ten or so tables, so make a reservation if you want to be assured of a table. But it wasn't crowded on a Monday night, so we were seated instantly. There's also a few more tables on the patio if the weather is fine. In short, it's not fancy, but it's the BEST Mediterranean food we've ever eaten... (oh, except for maybe that little place we found on a side street in Paris. But, that was PARIS.) If you like Mediterranean food, eat here. You'll love it!

Yelp
Sha-warma! Yumm-a! Yumm-a! This place is great! The hubs and I were not in the mood to venture out into the rainy night and wanted Greek delivery. A lot of Greek places were on the too spendy side. But Aladdin's prices were very reasonable, so we decided to give them a try. My spouse got the lamb shawarma sandwich and I got the chicken shawarma sandwich. They were both totally delicious! They were full of meat, veggies and a super tasty sauce, all wrapped up in a soft pita. The sandwiches are huge and come with a choice of soup or salad. We both chose the soup, which was a super fantastic lentil soup, very warm, perfectly spiced and satisfying on a chilly night. I honestly could make a meal out of a bowl of the soup and a piece of bread or a small salad. But the sandwiches: soooo good! For some reason, I wanted fries and those were just average, but I'm not counting that as fries aren't really Greek food. We also got dolmas and those were also done very well. My partner likes them more than I do, and he really, really liked them. I can't speak to dining in, but I would highly recommend Aladdin's for delivery!

Yelp
Haven't been here since the pandemic hit, so this.is really only about the food. Family owned and operated middle eastern spot with friendly service, amazing food, and fair prices. They rightfully brag about their lentil soup. Order it. Kafta and chicken are both tender and well seasoned. All the mezzas are beautiful; my favorite is the babaganouj, as they take care to properly roast the eggplant and leave a few little flecks of char in there that really makes the dish pop. Tzatziki will still be with you when you wake up tomorrow, but no one is going to suffer your garlic breath behind that surgical mask but you. Live it up. Sneaky favorite: Their rice bowls. I love the chicken bowl. It's a perfect mix of temperatures, textures, and flavors that I find very hard to stop eating even after I should have put the quit and saved it for later. If/when you feel comfortable sitting down for table service, order a bottle of Ksara with your meal and expand your wine palate. Follow it with their homemade cardamom ice cream.

Yelp
Solid Middle Eastern food at a reasonable price. I have only been once, but the food is pretty tasty and the service is friendly. The spot is somewhat unassuming, but definitely comfortable and laid back. My partner and I started out with the veggie mezze sampler, which comes with hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, grape leaf wraps, and salad. The falafel is one of the best I've had in Portland, and was seasoned perfectly. I had the Moroccan lamb shank, which was ever so tender. The sauce was sweet and savory and went well with the meat and rice. My partner had the vegetarian Masaka. I didn't try any because he was scarfing it down too quick for me to get a bite! He said it was great, and that the eggplant was nicely fried and seasoned. This review was from a visit before the pandemic, but I know they're still open and doing take-out and delivery.

Yelp
What an amazing find! We have not been there before but thought we would give it a shot. The Yebra (dolmen) and kibbie were just like grandma's from Labanon. The lamb shank was so tender and spiced so well, as was the chicken schwarma plate with hummus. The best hummus ever! The owner was very friendly and specially made kenaffe dessert for us. This cafe deserves 5 Star ratings.

Yelp
I ordered for Uber delivery and was THRILLED. High flavor salad with a very generous salmon topping. The flavors are fantastic, no cheap thrills here. This is an excellent choice for hungry and tired, fast service and excellent food.
