After 35 Years, Montreal Bookshop-Bistro Librairie Olivieri Closes | Eater Montreal

"Bar supply store Alambika has devised a workaround to Quebec's ban on to-go cocktails by creating quite appealing cocktail mixes that you just need to add spirits to; each mix even suggests a Quebec-made spirit to pair with it, and they'll be available via Alambika and certain restaurants around town." - Tim Forster

Cocktail Shop Alambika Opens Experimental Bar, Alkadémie | Eater Montreal

"Operated as one of the city’s premier cocktail and bar-supply stores, Alambika moved to its St-Laurent premises last September and supplies the Alkadémie space behind the shop with a very wide range of equipment that enables plenty of out-of-the-box cocktails. Owner Jean-Sebastien Michel positions the shop as more than a retailer—its access to specialized gear helps enable the creative, experimental programs staged in the back space." - Tim Forster

Google
Very nice store with great selection. I bought Lehman glassware and most of my cocktail gear there and I love it. The personel is also top notch. Cheers!

Google
Service was excellent, & the ability to taste just about everything in the store was extremely helpful in making the right decisions. They even provided simple gift bags for both of the gifts we bought!

As an amateur home bartender, I walked by and just wanted to browse. Laurent was working and took time to teach us about cocktail making and allowed us to sample some non-alcoholic liquors. We even got to sample a non-alcoholic cocktail which was delicious. They ship to the States and I will be a customer for a long time!

Love this place! Great service and expertise for mixologists. Chipped my beautiful japanese knife and their sharpened it within 1 week as the committed. Go visit if you haven’t yet

Google
Expect to spend a small fortune during your visit there as the selection is just incredible and the prices are on the higher end, but if you're a fan of cocktails you won't be disappointed. One of the nicest boutiques in Montreal IMO.

Amazing, loving place filled with great people that will go above and beyond to make sure you get what you want. Fantastic tasting bar. Greatly knowledgeable staff. Highly satisfied and well worth the visit.

Google
The perfect place to find all you mixologist paraphernalia. If you're looking to add some cool new gadgets to your home bar or are a wine and spirits connoisseur , this is the place for you. Great gift ideas here too! I had to return an item that was defective and not only did they replace it with no hassle at all, I was given an upgraded item at no extra charge. What a pleasant surprise! Thank you Alambika :-)

Google
The products are very nice, however, the salesperson in the bitters section was visibly extremely annoyed with me wanting to buy products, and was very rude. Was making me feel uncomfortable to ask a simple question regarding what I should buy. It made the experience quite unpleasant and I won't go back again. I would've given 5 stars if it wasn't for the service of this person.

Yelp
Alambika Alkademie has open its hidden bar Funk Populaire. Its a pop up bar . they are talented mixologist. they created drinks inspired from travels. unless you know about the place, you won't notice it. Small and cozy, perferct for a private party. on a summer day the open garage door is open for you to enjoy the 'terrace'. their drinks are very different, if you are not used to it you may not like it. there is always beer and wine that are good option. i feel that it taste too much 'pine' and 'sour'. not much my style. i am more of an old fashion whiskey or wine type. maybe i should stick to beer or wine. Male friends seam to like it .

Yelp
Wow, this place is dangerous for my wallet. My brother and I visited Alambika after going to the Tikivernale cocktail event; they graciously offered everyone a $20 gift certificate at the end of the event. My brother and I took the bait after checking out their website, drooling over the glassware. Oh and did we buy glassware. Firstly, the store is truly beautiful and as the clerk said to us, "yeah we're a little intense about our aesthetics here"- it definitely shows in their bar paraphernalia displays. It's also a friendly reminder that the art of cocktails is also about drinking something pretty. My brother is a huge cocktail nerd and even he was thoroughly impressed by the wide range of bitters, mixes, glassware and accessories available at the shop. All he could say was "I want everything. Just everything." I definitely resonate with the comment. The bright side of this attack on my meagre disposable income is that at least I know where I'm buying gifts for the drinkers in my life from now on!

Yelp
I've been here several times now and keep discovering new things. The main draw for me is tucked into the back corner to the right of the cash: yep, it's the biggest and best collection of cocktail bitters in the city. Dreamy. This is also the place to find small batch, organic sodas and pickled things. And of course, beautiful glassware and decanters and things. The staff is friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable and they suit the low key vibe of the space. Located on a pretty stretch of Van Horne with some very cute cafes and restos this would be very high on my list of places for gift giving and for all manner of fans of the finer things.

Yelp
Went on December 2015 a few days before Christmas to purchase gifts. Went in 1 hour before closing time. Pros: Nice accessories for cocktails, beautiful design. You can see everything on their website first, good selection of bitters and shrubs, etc. Cons: The service was quite bad. The 1st girl who "helped" did not listen to anything I said, she barely recommended anything and left in the middle of the conversation with no explanation to get a pizza (she came back with it). The 2nd girl was very nice and helpful with replacing a lot of the ingredients I chose with the 1st girl (I asked for the most "popular" ingredients) but she also left in the middle of our conversation without a word. The 3rd girl was ok but I'm glad I verified my items before paying. They gave me the wrong cocktail shaker and the wrong jigger.... I wish the service was better I would have definitely gone back but I'm going to try other stores. The service is really not up to the price tag.

Yelp
Very nice little place with quality items. I liked a lot that you can taste most (all?) of the products before buying. Plus, the service was very good. I will definitely come back.
