"If you’re on the lookout for a restaurant with a touch of romanticism and history, you’ll find it at Alameda, where the Txapartegi brothers have transformed this restaurant into a must for food-lovers and where they closely follow the wise words of their grandmother Julia: the shorter the distance between the earth and the stove, the better.Choose between two distinct dining spaces: the “taberna” and the gastronomic restaurant itself, with Gorka and Kepa in the kitchen and Mikel performing the sommelier and front-of-house duties. On the à la carte and two appetising set menus (Hondarribia and Gartzinea) they highlight deep-rooted Basque cooking from a more contemporary standpoint, creating what they call “Bidasoa cooking”, which is indelibly linked to the Bidasoa-Txingudi area and its locally produced ingredients." - Michelin Inspector

Really great experience. Recommended for a special event. Super tasty dishes from Basque cuisine.

This was an experience I will remember for life. We had the Gartzinea menu with wine pairing. It was an incredible culinary tour through the region, with so much local produce highlighted across the menu. Also worth noting that my partner is allergic to shellfish, and his substitutions were just as good as the original dish. We were really impressed by the wine pairing, the sommelier did a fantastic job. We really enjoyed learning about each one and she was even happy to write everything down for us when we left. The service was phenomenal and friendly. We cannot wait to come back.

All the dishes were of a high standard and demonstrated the local character of the Basque Country and Hondarribia very well. I was particularly surprised by the marinated sardines, which expressed the flavor of the fish well, and by the high quality of the fish itself. I live in Japan and am exposed to high quality fish on a daily basis, but this sardine was of a quality I had never experienced before. Thanks to the efforts of the kitchen and the welcoming service staff.

It was an amazing journey into the world of haute cuisine. We took the menu testing Hondarribia. All the dishes were in harmony with each other and were delicious. The service is at the highest level, the staff is polite and responsive. We will definitely come back again. ¡Muchas gracias!

Wanted to treat myself well for the first day of the business trip. Was searching for michelin suggested locak/traditional restaurant with modern twist and this just clicked! ❤️ had Hondaribbia tasting menu and it was hella journey with many headblown moments - toffee+foie gras bonbon, hake mousse with cold tomato sauce, tuna … well just try, you should experience it!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable visit, experiencing a journey through the regional cuisine. Opting for the tasting menu accompanied by a bottle of local wine, every dish was delicious. I must give a special shoutout to the staff who were attentive, informative, and friendly without being overwhelming or judgmental. Whether you're a seasoned veteran of Michelin-starred restaurants or embarking on your first culinary adventure, Alameda provides an excellent immersion into Basque cuisine.

We had the tasting menu. Some dishes were really extraordinary, but 3 things were disappointing. 1. There was not enough food. 2. We had to wait quite long for attention some times, 3. We were incorrectly charged 45 eur for squid that we had not ordered.

Excellent all the way around, the atmosphere, service and the food. We drove from Bordeaux France for a day trip to San Sebastián. We stopped here for lunch, what a great place! The chef came out and talked to us about the food and the history of the cooking in the Basque region. The food was superb. After several little appetizers, I had the pigeon (squab) and my wife had the fish of the day which was talbot I believe. We split the roasted peaches with lavender ice cream. Excellent! Definitely with a visit.

Yelp
Outstanding Michellin star restaurant that was perfect from beginning to end. The seating is spacious, the ambiance is relaxed, and the food was as good as it gets. The prefix menu changes frequently. Each course is served with Silver Service and explained. Pacing was perfect. I attached our menu to give a sense of what's offered.

Yelp
From the moment we were greeted to our check the service was excellent! The waited was fluent in English and described the menu with great descriptions. The started with local sardines and tomato jam that had the perfect balance. The regional in season white asparagus was so amazing, so tender and flavorful. The short rib we a special local dish that they added their own creatively to and the carrot purée was the right balance. We had local oysters in a local wine and like all things here it was great. Their belief is the source needs to be very close to the kitchen. The ambiance is clean with new designs and a pice of dirt wood at each table with the location. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
Innovative, exceptional, expertly crafted. I did the hondarribia tasting menu for lunch which is the absolute perfect option for a taste of what their fine kitchen has to offer. Had the gazpacho to clear the palate and it was perfect. Then they went and put some foie gras chocolate next to it and I had to drop the spoon. Perfect match. Next up was the raw fish dish with a slew of accoutrements. Fish was so mf fresh. Excellent. Gambled with the next course that was a like a mash of mushroom, egg and sauce. But it was well done. Then they brought the house down with the best cooked fish I've had. A delight. The steak followed and it was a treat - paired with an insane red pepper purée type thing. Another palate cleanser/dessert followed and then we finished with the real desserts. Fitting that these offerings were an absolute pleasure as well. Need to come back for dinner.

Yelp
We left disappointed in the quality of service and food. Perhaps it once was Michelin star worthy but not anymore. It started with no greeting after being seated, the table next to us being seated after, yet receiving menus and ordering first. Our waitress seemed new and a little forgetful. Our table ordered the full tasting menu. Then one of us kept finding bits of crab shells in his crab salad dish. My lobster with bone marrow was missing the marrow and when we sent it back they gave a new one but not after implying that there was nothing wrong with the first one....except there were 5 in our party who all had the same dish and it was obvious something wasn't right with mine. Not very Michelin star-like to blame the customer. Then the next dish they plopped down in front of one of us...perhaps pissed that we'd sent back the previous dish? As for the food...oyster and fish were good. Squid was too salty and lacked balance, and pigeon hash also lacked balance. Sadly, this was not a Michelin star experience.

Yelp
I had the Hondarribia menu, which included: - two amuse bouche, but the one that stood out was chocolate covered foie gras with sea salt. Wow that was good! - scallop carpaccio with fish roe, tomato tartar, and almond emulsion. This was delicious, with the scallops so clean and fresh tasting, and all the ingredients combining well together - blood sausage and corn tortilla, apple, and arugula. His was like a fancy enchilada with bechamel, and was the only thing on the menu that was just "ok" - fish of the day with creamy rice and fennel. I don't remember the name of the fish in Spanish, but this was delicious! - red wine glazed oxtail with nuts and orange. The meat was incredibly tender and this dish was amazing - melting chocolate, passion fruit and coffee ice cream. This was arguably the least creative dish, though still very delicious For 60€ and wine pairing of 27€, this was not only a very good meal, but also a good value. Service is very professional and friendly. The ambiance is modern and clean. I would definitely visit again!

Yelp
Our first experience with a Michelin star restaurant and we found everyone very friendly and helpful. All the food was explained to us (I.e. what order to eat different parts). We both got the tasting menu. I am a vegetarian and they made substitutions and checked with me ahead of time. Great food and unpretentious environment. Easy parking in lot across street.

Yelp
Exceptional. Michelin star well deserved. The bar is high in San Sebastián and environs. It is safe to say that SS has become one of the greatest restaurant cities in the world. We made no advance reservations, however, and had to "settle" for a meal at Alameda in Hondaribbia, about 10 miles outside of SS near the French border. Lucky us! We had the prix fix menu for Sunday lunch - €60 + €27 with wine pairing (a must!) Everything was exceptional - environment, service, presentation, color, ingredient quality and even personal attention from the owner. Oh, did I mention taste? Superb! I do not consider myself a "foodie" but I have been to fine restaurants in large cities over many decades. I like Chef's Table but candidly most of the restaurants come across as overly fussy and even gimmicky. Alameda has no gimmicks - just extraordinary food that you will not forget. If I lived in SS I would be a regular customer. Simply the best meal I have ever had.

Yelp
Michelin 1-star very well deserved! The 60 euro tasting menu with wine pairing left us very full and drunk. My favorites were the low-tempered egg, foie gras chocolate bonbons, and carrot whipped soup. Much much better than another 1-star in the area Kokoxta. Note that Alameda is a 40-min bus from San Sebastián. The town Hondarribia is cute but not much to do. Only complaint was the view from the terrace wasn't great with a highway and unwieldy public garden.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner here, about as good as it gets. I was a little discouraged when there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we arrived, but no matter, we had a wonderful time. The servers were very attentive (maybe lurking a little too much at times), but they did a wonderful job of explaining each of the dishes as they were served (we did the tasting menu). Each course was wonderful, and this was definitely one of our favorite meals in our journey across Spain.
