Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: April 26 | Eater DC

"The aviation-themed bar near DCA is a fun pre-show spot with happy hour deals (pints $4, wines $5, apps $6), an oval-shaped airport-gate–like bar, and easy in-theater ordering for food and drinks; I loved the themed atmosphere before a movie." - Eater Staff

Look at These D.C. Restaurant Employees Going All Out for Halloween | Eater DC

"In Crystal City I watched the week-old Alamo Drafthouse celebrate its first Halloween by reviving the cult zom-rom-com Shaun of the Dead with an 8 p.m. showing on Tuesday, November 1 that included free props like inflatable cricket bats and Shaun-esque name tags." - Tierney Plumb

"A long-awaited Alamo Drafthouse in Arlington will be a nine-screen, 50,000-square-foot theater in the Central District shopping plaza (1660 Crystal Drive), but supply-chain issues have pushed its opening from spring to the fall after a decade-long search for a site." - Stephanie Carter

What a great way to see the movies! Along Crystal Drive surrounded by many restaurants and shops, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema focuses on the customer. Walk inside and find a fancier movie theater with comfortable large seats that recline. On top of that, you can order food and drinks from a diverse menu throughout the movie. I enjoyed a hard cider, pizza, and warm chocolate chip cookies with milk as I watched Zootopia 2 with my wife and eight-year-old daughter. When you buy your tickets, you pick your seat too! There's a parking garage with free parking after 4pm and on weekends.

Google
The theater is clean, the seats are comfortable, and the screen quality is excellent. The food and drink service is good, with plenty of options and efficient staff. The only drawback is that with servers walking around during the film, it can sometimes take away from the immersion of watching. Overall, it’s still a strong choice for movie lovers and a fun night out.

Comfy seats, great location, and clean all the way around! At one point I spilled water onto my seat and asked for napkins. To clean it up, the young lady brought me napkins, waited until I cleaned up the spill, and then took the napkins to dispose of them! This might seem little to you, but the way customer service is lacking so badly in all industries right now, this was amazing to experience. An all around great experience.

The movie theaters themselves are decent, but what really stands out is the excellent service—the staff is always friendly and works hard to get food to you quickly. The new Key Lime Pie was disappointing—very small and definitely not worth the $12 price tag. On the other hand, the cheese fries are a solid choice: rich, satisfying, and great for an occasional treat. Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at the bar on the second floor (to the right). It has a great atmosphere and offers nice views—worth checking out. Pro tip: Tuesday tickets are just $9!

Google
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema delivers an outstanding moviegoing experience from start to finish. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to great service without being intrusive. Their movie selection is thoughtfully curated, balancing new releases with cult classics and special screenings. The food and drink menu goes far beyond typical theater snacks, offering delicious meals, quality cocktails, and a great variety of options. The ambience is immersive and comfortable, making it easy to fully enjoy the film, and the theater is impressively clean and well maintained. Alamo Drafthouse truly sets the standard for what a modern cinema should be.

Where everybody knows your name... T and Juan always provide the best service, hospitality, and care! My husband and I love coming just for the experience and they are the best! You feel like you are coming to someone's home. Food is delicious, they have vegan options and the dine in movie experience is wonderful!

Great movie viewing experience. We have seen dozens of films here and it is the best movie theater in Northern Virginia. From the large screen “Big Show” to the more intimate theaters, the comfortable reclining seats are excellent. They have a variety of very good food along with popcorn, drinks (alcoholic/non), shakes, and candy (chicken tenders are great/and special themed menus on occasion). Servers are generally excellent, and we’ve only had the occasional glitch in over two years of going here. They have a pre-show of usually related ephemera (clips, videos, odd-ball films the actor/director did) to the feature film. Besides current films, they have a repertory selected of past hits, cult films, and special showings, sing-alongs w/props (check the schedule). Parking is fee after 4pm during the week and free on Sat/Sunday. There is also a bar for pre/post show. Get there 30 minutes before scheduled movie time so you can place your order and relax. Also, half priced movies on Tuesday,

This was our first time visiting the theater and I don’t know if I’ll return. Maybe that was the idea for us not to return. My pizza came out cool almost cold not even hot. My husband was given a Caesar salad instead of the wrap he ordered. Then they brought out the dill flavored popcorn 5 minutes before the show ended. Service was not good at all. And it was high priced for the quality in my opinion. The only reason I might return is to try ordering at the bar and then taking the food to my seat. Other than that, I am definitely disappointed in this experience. The only reason I gave a 1 rating is because the flavor of the popcorn was good, seats were comfy, and predator was great! And just to think this was for hubby’s birthday that we decided to celebrate with some friends and family.

Yelp
The theater in which we saw High to Low (which was excellent) was clean, the sound and picture quality was great. My wife and I ordered a couple of appetizers and glasses of wine. The service was prompt and polite, the food was hot and fresh and the wine was reasonably priced. Parking was easy. All in all, a great experience and we will be back.

Yelp
Really awesome location with a respectable restaurant. Many of these places only serve slightly elevated theatre food; here, we got an amazing Caesar salad, a Beyond burger that my husband stated sad very well done and had a good level of fixings- but Beyond is bland so if they seasoned it, that would be even better (7/10- the fries added a point), and I got a hot dog. Don't judge me!!! They post the calories on the menu and I just couldn't lol. It was a darn good half smoke (8/10 cuz the bun was basic and a little cold lol) and while I couldn't finish it, I definitely ate the Caesar which was crisp and had the perfect amount of dressing. 9/10 The movie theatre popcorns are bottomless, though you probably won't take advantage of that as they give you so much. We tried the churro and the truffle parm. I love truffle oil and everything truffle but it was a disappointment. It didn't taste like truffle at all, was cold, and the flavor of Parmesan popcorn did not have the level of salt or umami that we were going for 4/10. The churro was awesome. Not too sweet, still the perfect amount of saltiness and lots of cinnamon crunch bits evenly disbursed to make the experience very churro/like 7/10 - only because there were so many seeds!!! Otherwise it would be a 9/10. The service was prompt and efficient both in the restaurant and in the theatre. 10/10. This place is great for date nights and we will be back.

Yelp
As an Alamo Pass holder, I'm at the Alamo Drafthouse in Crystal City a lot. The service is mostly smooth, the staff is friendly, and they try to keep the whole movie experience seamless. On the very rare occasions I've experienced an issue, it was handled quickly and with genuine care, which I truly appreciate. I've been eating my way through the menu, and everything has been pretty solid, thus far. I've had the chicken tenders, wings, veggie burger, vegan cauliflower bites, chocolate chip cookies, and a few drinks (is it good or bad that one of bartenders now knows me!? lol) Alamo Crystal City is truly my spot. Good food, great movies, great vibes. I'll definitely keep coming back.

Yelp
We love an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. We live in DC but prefer the theater in Crystal City. The theater has many special programs, along with reclining seats, a full menu and bar with wine, cocktails and beer. They also take the movie experience very seriously here with many warnings in the opening credits that if you are caught on your phone, you''ll be kindly escorted out of the theater. I love the personalized pre-movie videos that run in advance. You can tell someone is curating the selection with a sharp eye. We were a regular Alamo Drafthouse family before we moved to DC, going to the theater in downtown LA and in Austin, Texas. So we were very happy when it came to this area.

Yelp
I enjoy having an Alamo Drafthouse nearby - you could also look into their different tiered memberships if you tend to be a more avid movie-goer. We came here for a screening for one of our favorites, and it didn't disappoint - the sound system was pretty good, and the chairs were comfortable. They do have a menu, including various seasoned popcorn, apps, salads, wraps, hot dogs, burgers, wings, pizza, desserts, and drinks. There's a button located on your swing table, attached to your chair, to call for service - an individual assigned to your section will come to take your order on their tablet - for any additional orders or refills, you'll just to the same process, throughout your moving watching experience. We tried the Truffle Parm and the Spicy Ranch popcorn, and while the Truffle Parm was not edible for us, the Spicy Ranch sort of made up for it - you could also ask for extra clarified butter, if that's your thing. Note that the popcorn comes in a large stainless 'mixing' bowl, which is more than enough for 2 people; I just wished it came out warm. The drink orders do take a while, which was a bit weird - there was quite some lag to it, and we had to wave down other runners to see if they forgot our orders... The Alamo Drafthouse seems to have a hard rule for no talking and use of cellphone, with the consequence of being kicked out after a warning - however, there were people who were having side conversations, and you'll hear other movie attendees putting their orders in throughout the movie. Restrooms could be better attended to, as they were filthy. Garage parking is available in the area. +cold popcorn +slow drink orders +avoid the restrooms +garage parking available

Yelp
The Alamo drafthouse in Crystal City is a delightful experience. Easy to access with plenty of popcorn options to choose from, you know you'll be sitting comfortably for your movie as the serving staff takes great care of you. I do want to mention it's been a minute since I've gone to an Alamo, and I was caught off guard by the lights for the menu being as bright as they were, a little distracting during the film. The seats and sound quality were excellent though! And the price was really responsible.

Yelp
Elmo had the extended release of the Frankenstein movie which was super fun to see. Their popcorn deal is pretty good, $12 for unlimited popcorn and you just need to use your card at your seat to have it delivered right to you, which was super convenient so that I didn't miss any of the movie. I was able to go to a matinee and it was very empty, which was nice but even though I had someone once eat over from me, because the seats are so big, I didn't notice at all. Being able to lean back and have my feet up was a nice Burke. They also validate parking at the parking garage right next to this entrance so I didn't have to fight for street parking or pay 20 bucks for parking in addition to my movie ticket.

Yelp
I visited Alamo Drafthouse in Crystal City as part of my birthday relaxation weekend with one of my girlfriends to see I Know What You Did Last Summer. Parking was super easy, and the elevator practically drops you off right at the theater entrance which is convenient. The place has an old-school movie theater vibe, which was a change from my usual spots like iPic or Regal. Honestly, I don't even remember if anyone checked our tickets at the door...I think they checked them once we were already seated. One of the perks here is being able to order food right to your seat, which is great in theory. The menu card is already at your seat and then you have too write your order down and slide it through some thing at your table. I honestly dont know if that was for the looks/experience but it didnt seem to do anything. LOL I got a burger with fries and an alcoholic beverage. I had asked for ketchup with my meal, but it didn't come and getting it after the fact was like pulling teeth. It felt like they had to put in a ticket or make it from scratch because it took so long. By the time it finally arrived, my food was cold, which was definitely disappointing. I always find that movie theater food never comes out piping hot anyway. Overall, we still had a good time and it was a cool first-time experience. Would I come back? Eh... maybe.

Yelp
Caught a Friday night flick (Thunderbolts) with a homie, and Alamo Drafthouse did not disappoint. Parked in the garage, grabbed a validation ticket--turns out it wasn't even needed. Parking is free after 5 PM. Bonus! Walking in, I was hit with the sheer size of the place--it's massive. Movie posters old and new line the walls like a cinematic hall of fame. There's a gift shop for the film nerds, and a bar for the pre-show sip and after show fiesta. Service? On point. The theater itself? Pure luxury. Recliner seats that rival my living room La-Z-Boy--wide, plush, and spaced out enough to give you your own little kingdom. I spotted the server station on the way in, and sure enough, they were hustling quietly and efficiently throughout the film. At your seat: a menu, a notepad, and a service button that brings the magic. The menu is stacked--apps, entrees, cocktails, desserts--you name it. I went with a crispy chicken sandwich, fries, and a margarita to wash it all down. Delivered on a sleek little tray setup with a swivel table and cupholder--everything short of silver service. And the sandwich? Chic-fil-A, who? This one's the new MVP. The view? Immaculate. No heads in your way, no sugar-crazed kids kicking your seat, no distractions. Just you, the screen, and your feast. This isn't just going to the movies--it's a religious experience. Alamo Drafthouse for movie night IS THE WAY.
google avatar

Andrew E.

Yelp
I enjoyed the movie viewing experience. The reclining chairs are awesome. I like the swiveling table with under lights. There were no movie previews shown for Sinners. I particularly enjoyed that. Why waste time with previews for crappy movies? I appreciate the extensive menu beyond the typical movie fare. I ordered an Old Fashioned which was particularly well made and strong. We crushed the bottomless popcorn! Now onto the food... I specifically ordered the VEGAN cheese pizza. They had the nerve to bring out a Goat Cheese and Broccoli pizza. How do you explain that for someone who may be allergic to dairy?

Yelp
The Crystal City Alamo is a treasured venue. I saw The Accountant 2 today, on a muggy and hot Northern Virginia Friday afternoon; all was cool and clean inside. Got a White Claw from the bar ($8.25 + tip) and brought it into the theater. An attendant promptly met me at my seat and after checking to confirm that I was in the right seat he took my order (a side of fries with extra ketchup) and was back in a flash with my order and a cup of water. I've made Alamo a go-to for a couple of years now. What makes it special for me is the presentation of archived film clips they show in the 30 minutes before the coming attractions. For today, in keeping with the tie in with the FBI in the movie, the clips were from ancient FBI training films, and a great short film called Good Cop Baby Cop. You might not see stuff like this anywhere else. You can reach the theater by taking the Blue or Yellow Metro trains to Cyrstal City and walking through the deserted mall; there's also a Metroway Bus stop across the street, which you can take from the Braddock Road Metro station.
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
I enjoyed the experience very much. The theater was clean. The food, drinks, and popcorn we had were good. The speakers are a tad bit too loud. I really appreciate the theater's noise rules announced before the movie. One downside: There was a lady seating 2 seats away who kept coughing out actually her child did the same. I guess some folks forgot about COVID a few years back and coughing in your elbow. This was not the theater's fault though.

Yelp
Great place to watch a movie, eat at the theater or many other options nearby. We love the decorations and the bar so come early. Friendly staff.

Yelp
If you haven't been to the Alamo Drafthouse in Crystal City, what are you doing with your life? This place is the cinematic equivalent of a warm hug from a movie-loving, popcorn eating, giant. From the moment you step inside, you know you're in for a treat... not just for your eyes and ears, but for your taste buds too. Let's talk about the presentation: state of the art doesn't even begin to cover it. The screens are massive, crisp, and bright enough that you'll feel like you're living in the movie. The sound system? Let's just say, you'll hear things in that theater you never knew existed (hello, surround sound "BOOM"!). It's like watching a movie in a high-def cocoon, and your senses will never forgive you if you go anywhere else again. Which is why ADC is typically my 1st choice when possible. Then there's the menu. Yes, it's a movie theater, but it's also a restaurant. It's like a drive-in but sit down movie theater. Where else can you chow down on a truffle fries platter while watching the latest blockbuster, as you await the new year? Seriously, the food here is so good, you might be tempted to sneak a few bites between every action scene. Cold drinks of your choice... I'm a Coke Zero guy til I die! But, I believe beer and cocktails are available. Now, onto comfort: these seats are the stuff dreams are made of. Imagine if your couch and a luxury recliner had a baby, and that baby was gifted with perfect lumbar support. I swear, if I could sleep in one of these seats, I would. Plus, they're spaced out enough that you don't have to worry about getting an elbow in your ribs during that pivotal scene. And as for cleanliness--this place is spotless. Every time I've been, I'm amazed by how pristine the theater is. It's like a movie theater with the soul of a five-star hotel. Don't hold me to that one. I could just be lucky in this regard, but the bathrooms were pretty clean as well. All in all, Alamo Drafthouse in Crystal City is the kind of place where you go for a movie and end up with a whole experience. It's not just a theater; it's a destination. Recommendation level: 10/10, would get comfy and eat popcorn again.

Yelp
So I feel mislead. We purchased singalong tickets for K Pop Demon Hunters when they still had the promo that said you'd get all these extras for the big show. Which was the first show of Sat and Sunday. It said get there an hour early. So we did. And I was confused that maybe I read the time wrong. Ok. Then we get inside. No extras, no mention that there was a change. This is a lot of money for a movie we've watched at home. I feel like this was a BIG bait and switch. I only purchased these for the extras. Over $100 later and I know my son had fun even though the extras I told him about were no where to be found. This was a big let down! Positives At least parking is free. ...And the seats are comfortable.

Yelp
I always enjoy coming to Alamo! Even though I have to travel into the city, the experience is always worth the drive. The atmosphere, service, and vibe make it a go-to spot. The food was decent on this visit--next time, I'll be sticking with the chicken sandwich meal, which has never let me down!

Yelp
I have to update my review and it has remained the same. We came to watch the new Jurassic Park movie and unfortunately the power went out, which was no fault to the theater. They handled it as best as any establishment should, and went above and beyond during this type of situation. We ended up with rain check tickets to come back and went to go see the new Fantastic 4 movie. We always take advantage of arriving right when the doors open so we are able to check in and get our tab open and started. Service is also extremely fast during this period almost no wait. You can't be the bottomless popcorn and the mozzarella sticks. The big show theater is always perfect for a new movie premiere and definitely recommend that theater if you're able to get it. Highly recommend watching a movie here.

Yelp
I'm glad they have one now in Crystal City. I am a big fan of alamo. I didn't make it past the bar this time, but the drinks and apps were great. They have a nice happy hour.

Yelp
First and foremost, Deadpool was AMAZING!! Alamo is a different type of movie experience. The chairs are comfortable as hell and makes you fight the urge to sleep. The food is flavorful and pocket friendly. I had the nachos, buffalo wings, and carnivore pizza. I love the location and parking was free. What I enjoy most is not having to move from my seat for beverages, adult juice, and food. It's a wonderful experience. Check it out. #EatGoodAndBeHappy

Yelp
Got together with my cousins to see Sinners here. Love that the parking is free on the weekends. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they were on the MoviePass app. Got seated and ordered the Watermelon Mezcal Margarita and the fried chicken Caesar wrap with garlic parm fries. Everything tasted great and the service was quick. The theater was clean and the chair were comfortable. I will definitely be returning.

Yelp
The Alamo Drafthouse experience was unplanned but turned out to be the best movie experience I've enjoyed for awhile. We enjoyed convenient, free parking in the garage underneath, but when our original restaurant destination turned out to have closed, we looked around for an alternative. We decided to see "Sinners" at Alamo. The food and drinks were delicious, the soft drinks were bottomless, the servers brought items to our seats quickly, and the seats were very comfortable. We were able to get good seats without a lot of preplanning. I would go back anytime. I recommend.

Yelp
This place rocks. If you ever look at my reviews you know as a former customer service person, how I'm treated is always a big priority. The staff here is amazing. Friendly, engaging and helpful. As a bonus, the food was good. Had the Caesar salad. Fresh, not overly dressed and tasty. I saw "Sinners" and they had a retrospect of multiple 70s black cinema. I was able to load a few movies on there to my Apple playlist. Great Job Alamo!!

Yelp
Let's start with the good: great seats, excellent service, and acceptable food. The bad: weird extra charge on my bill that nobody could explain. I was charged tax - understandable. But then I was charged a "meal tax", when I only had a drink at the bar. The bartender said it was mandatory but had no further explanation. Granted, it was a small charge, but I'm beyond these little add-ons that have increasingly become the norm without any real reason. Covid fee, living wage fee, service fee, and now a MEAL fee for a drink?! This is totally out of hand.

Yelp
As a Pittsburgh native, I've wanted to experience an Alamo Drafthouse for years. This might've been one of the best theater experiences I've had in YEARS. Shout-out to the Crystal City team, everyone I interacted with was wonderful to do so with. Everything from walking in to walking out was a top tier experience. PLEASE bring one of these to Pittsburgh!

Yelp
My first time visiting Alamo in Crystal City and I had a good experience. The reclining seats were very comfortable! I love the movable tray table, large cup holders, and mini light (doesn't distract at all from watching the movie). I heard rave reviews about the vegan cauliflower bites so I ordered that and it was definitely worth the hype! I chose gochujuang sauce which was a fantastic idea! Didn't care for the vegan ranch, it was alright. Food is pricey but hey, it's all about the experience right? Pay and be satisfied lol. I will say that once the lights dim for advertisement, holding the card up (to order food/drinks) seemed to be meaningless as the waiters would walk right by and ignore it. Calling for their attention seemed to be the best method. Maybe they should either note that on the card as the best way to order or retrain the staff. I love the way the movie theatre itself is designed with classic movie posters all around! The garage is next to the theatre and parking is validated (ask for validation before leaving the theatre). Coming in the theatre, the signage was very straightforward to help patron decide which way to go (tickets or straight to the theatre where your movie is playing). Initially we were going to take the elevator but it was out of service, so the only options left were the stairs and the escalator which was good enough for us but would be a problem for a person who really needed the elevator. However, by the time I left the elevators were working. Overall, I would visit again.

Yelp
I'm a huge Alamo Drafthouse fan so I was happy to know they opened a new location. I was staying at a nearby hotel and knew I had to check it out (I saw Blink Twice). It looks really nice inside. I liked the way it's decorated--they have old movie posters like in the other locations I've been to. I decided to get the avocado toast (so good) and the Zero Gravity Shake (this was on a special menu--Alien Romulus). At this location, you don't have to go to the ticket area unless you actually need a ticket. In Brooklyn and the city, you still have to show the employee the ticket and then still show the ticket to the servers in the theater. Come on NYC, take notes from Crystal City!! My one issue is that this location is cashless. In NYC, you have the option to pay with a card or cash. All in all, I enjoyed my time at AD.

Yelp
Pretty cool theater. It's designed as a retro cinema but it's also modern with large theater spaces. The theaters are spacious and have plenty of seating, and the reclining seats are pretty comfortable. The staff is always helpful, the seats are super comfy and the theatres have been well-maintained. The food options are so yummy. Tuesdays are the best time to visit because tickets are 7 dollars, which means you can enjoy their amazing food options with less guilt. In all, perfect ambience for enjoy the movie, perfect place to hangout especially for Film Lovers! Great service, great food, the food is more pricey than other movie theater but worth it. Alamo Drafthouse is by far one of my favorite spots to check out a movie and I highly recommend this location. I've always had a very good experience here and will be returning.

Yelp
The movie was good, I didn't have any food. The first drink was ok, the second one wasn't had to send it back. I did find the service a bit disruptive while trying to watch the movie. I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Seating was comfortable, the food was better than your average movie theater . The ordering process needs work. You have to write your order In the dark and search for the bell to ring . One person picked up my order and requested my card , yet another came back discussed the order and took my payment that made me rather uneasy . The process was repeated with the young lady next to me only this time someone came back and gave me her card . This has put me on high alert to monitor my card account . The drink service was inconsistent the first margarita was great , the second horrible so I didn't order another . I would visit again because those huge hiccups aside the actual theater was a nice experience

Yelp
Let me start that I am difficult. Well, my dietary restrictions are. I love alamo because they have vegan friendly restaurant quality food. This evening before a lomg trip, my husband asked where i wanted to go, i wanted alamo. But, not just for food but their atmosphere. Today they were packed and my order got scrambled. But, fixed and adjusted to make customer service was priority. Honestly, i don't know how they handled the chaos, noise and understood everything. But, T, Jennifer and Wan were to the rescue. Love this place!

Very clean and nice theater. The menu was huge so get there early so you have a chance to pick something when the lights are on! I like their policy about phones, because many times theater go-er's don't care. Cool atmosphere with a lot of posters and items you can buy based on the movies that are playing! I got a Captain America Brave World pint glass when I went. I also got the boozy cold brew shake and wow it was delicious!

Yelp
Extemely expensive, but we knew that coming in. We expected service commensurate with the pricing. We did not receive it. The drinks we ordered before the movie showed up about 45 minutes into the movie, and only after we flagged down a server to see where they were. It's just not worth the premium over other theaters.

Yelp
I've heard great things about the venue and it didn't disappoint. There's a parking garage underneath the movie theater. Elevator access takes you to the street and steps away from the entrance. Seating was comfortable and the seats reclined. The menu has decent options and the food was good. I enjoyed the flavored popcorn and the portion is shareable.

Yelp
Great location. Easy parking (free validation on weekdays, free parking on weekends) Great food. Great service. Theaters are clean. It can get a bit pricey depending on your food/beverage orders, but it's good quality food & drinks. Cocktails are legit, (not watered down). Food was delicious, and served hot. No complaints. Alamo is one of my fave theaters. I've been a fan since the only one was in One Loudon (Va), then the newer ones in Woodbridge and Crystal city. I believe in traveling for good service, and Alamo always delivers!!

Yelp
OK, so this might be my new favorite movie theater. The location is prime and right smack dab in the middle of "new" Crystal City. It's a really nice set up and plenty of photo ops for all of your selfie/usie needs. PARKING: Garage -- just bring your ticket to the front desk/ticket line and they will validate. SERVICE: Prompt and polite. At the push of a button, you can summons your server to place your order. FOOD: Good! ROYALE w/CHEESE, FRIES + CHIPS & QUESO + BOTTOMLESS POPCORN (so good that we ate most of it and took some to go!) BOOZE: The skinny margarita was really good! SEATING: Comfy, cozy. (Apparently, I dozed off a few times...Oopsies!) The seats adjust to a slant and recline, so that was a definite plus. There's plenty of leg room and ample space between you and the seats on either side. I was in no hurry to get up and there was no need to stretch afterwards. RESTROOM: Neat, clean, and spacious. Unfortunately, we didn't get pics of the food and drinks because there's a strict "no cell phone" policy in effect (once the show starts), which I can appreciate. We'll definitely be back! __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

Yelp
The service and food are awful. When my friend tried to check in at the front they told her to go to her seat lol nobody scans or checks for tickets. It took 30 minutes to get my wings and they were cold. I told the guy to keep them but they bought them out again, microwaved. The popcorn is "bottomless" but good luck getting a refill. And when I did get the refill, not fresh. Got my stomach hurting. Wtheck are the long waits for if the food is not fresh?!?! There should be a cut off time for the service because they are walking back and forth across the screen for the entire movie. My waitress did not want to be bothered. I didn't go to dc because I was anticipating the same scenario that I received here. The good-Parking is free on the weekend. The chairs are comfortable and the movie screen quality is awesome but it's not worth the riff raff.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the better movie theater chains! I really love how large this location is with a bar/restaurant inside as well. Food is a bit pricey but I love that they switch it up and have limited items on their menu, or sometimes a special feature item correlating to the movie you're watching! Service is a bit slow, but when it's busy they ensure there's multiple waiters/waitresses going to different rows instead of forcing one person take orders for everyone. I've definitely returned here a few times already.

Yelp
Entertainment value - 5/5. I'm a big fan of Alamo, although I admit the quality of food and service can vary quite a bit (even day to day). But Crystal City made a great first impression. First, this has my favorite Big Show decorations. The Snakes on a Plane theme is fun, but there are a ton of small little details that makes it more fun than the other admittedly impressive Big Show facades. The staff were all friendly and attentive, helping us find our theater (it is true that Crystal City is a labyrinth) and taking our order. The food and drink was standard fare for Alamo. I also really enjoyed the bar. It has a very cool rooftop patio and the booths are decorated like Metro sections with fun movie trivia on the inside. This is definitely a must-visit for movie fans!

Yelp
Definitely like this location a lot better than the DC location. Very nice bar that is large enough for happy hour and dining. The chicken tenders and the pretzel were really good... it just took a while for the food to arrive which I didn't love. However, overall good experience.

Yelp
ATTENTION BLACK PATRONS* First of all let me say that this is a nice theater and this review does not critique the facilty. This is a review of the staff and our interactions. This has been my default theater for big movie releases. 1. That being said I'll say this... My boyfriend and I are African-American attended this theater frequently. We can't help but notice the preferential treatment the staff gives to its Caucasian guest. On multiple instances we have experienced micro-agresssions or slights at the bar, while waiting for a auditorium to open, or waiting in the hallway for the theater to be cleaned and when having our orders taken inside the theater. When we arrive at the theater we do so early and grab a drink while we wait for our theater to open. We have noticed that when get to the bar it takes a long time for us to be acknowledged, in fairness its a small bar with 1 or 2 bartenders or 1 bar tender and a bar back. We do account for this when waiting to be acknowledged, however, we take offense when we have been waiting and even sitting at the bar and other white patrons arrive and get acknowledged and addressed 1st. At which point I tend to start timing how long it takes for us to get serviced. There were 2 people behind the bar 1 was an older black man and the other was a younger possibly Latino man. They were both moving around the bar the older black man was closest to us and Never acknowledged us. It wasn't until the young Latino man came by on his second or third pass that we were acknowledged. 2. While we are waiting for the theater to be cleaned and standing in the hallway, a young black female staff member asked my boyfriend and I "can I help you?" In a context and tone that conveyed what are you doing here? As well as aking to see our tickets. As If we did not belong in the area. I informed the staff member that we were waiting for the auditorium to open and going to use the rest room. 3. In the auditorium, our server approached where we were seating and asked to see our tickets. Despite other servers already walking around and giving their introduction to other guest. Typically the server will welcome and introduce themselves before asking to see the tickets. Once I showed our tickets he introduced himself as Derrick and began to take our order. After Derrick took our orders he went to the guests sitting next to us, (white female & Asian male) and proceed to take their orders without asking to see their tickets to "make sure that they are in the correct seats." Meanwhile, another server asked the black couple seated behind to see their tickets and took their orders. It appears to me that the Alamo Drafthouse in crystal city only checks their Black patrons. We spend a lot of money each time we come to this theater in Arlington,VA to experience this type of treatment. I'm willing to give it one last time before I go the Ipic. I URGE ALL BLACK PATRONS TO PAY ATTENTION TO HOW YOURE TREATED IF YOU GO.

Yelp
I like the concept of ordering food and having it served directly to your seat, though it can cause minor distractions during the movie. I've been here a few times, and it's always been a good experience with comfortable seating. Our server last time (Felicity, I believe?) was fantastic and very helpful. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Epic Sunday is here at @alamodrafthousedc! Watch iconic movies on the big screen on Sundays every month! We watched Ghostbusters for the first time, perfect timing for spooky season! Enjoy the movie while you eat like burgers or flatbreads! The Hellfire Burger is a must for me every time I'm there

Yelp
Came here for the first time ever to watch Barbie, and I couldn't have been more excited. However, little did my friend and I know what was to come. One of the staff led us to take the elevator to go from the second floor to the third floor (there are also stairs and escalators which honestly I wouldn't have minded taking before a ~2hr movie) 7 people in the elevator and it shook twice. Having being trapped in an elevator before I knew the elevator broke down... we were 15 minutes away from the movie start time and I was getting a little stressed that we wouldn't make it. My friend and I triaged the situation by calling 911 and talking to the elevator crew. The elevator crew was no help, as the hacks they gave weren't working and said to call 911 anyway. Thanks to the Arlington Fire Dept., we were out within 17 minutes and were able to see the movie. Though not the fault of Alamo, I highly recommend places in Crystal City really do elevator inspections... ___ The leather reclining seats were great! The concept of ordering from your seat with a tray is also super cool. However based on our situation, it was hard ordering and paying attention to the movie since we didn't have time before the movie started to order (go figure). Staff were pretty discrete when passing off your food and drinks. The one thing that bothered me though is that the staff members were talking too loud during a pivotal point of the movie and I could hear their conversations. Could've been since I was sitting near the exit but still... the conversation could've been taken elsewhere and not ruin the movie experience. Popcorn tasted good within the first 20 minutes but then it got soggy towards the end of the movie. I like the fact that it was unlimited. If you're a die hard popcorn fan, you can always get more fresh popcorn if you'd like. Caulipower pizza was like a cracker... but I enjoyed the vegan supreme toppings. Red onions were very strong, but than that, the vegan supreme with Daiya cheese, tomatoes and olives was delicious and hit the spot. I'm not vegan but it was very enjoyable! The manager managed to give all of us stuck in the elevator 50% off, which I'm grateful for. Would I go back? Yes -- Alamo lives up to its cool concept. However I now know to take the escalator and stairs to have more time to order my food to avoid an elevator situation again.

Yelp
I love clean establishments. Movie theaters typically do not give clean but the Alamo in Crystal City does. Seats were not ripped, table top worked, floors weren't sticky. The service was good not great for the price of the ticket or food and drinks ordered. We would return again.

Yelp
The award for most improved service goes to Alamo Drafthouse Crystal City! Over the last year, I've had some truly abysmal service experiences at Alamo Crystal City. But I'm happy to report that my three most recent visits went super smoothly. I think this theater is hitting its stride! On my last visit, bartender Dave and some of the other front desk staff went above and beyond, helping me with an improvised ice pack when the elevator from the garage tried to eat my arm, and helping me clean up ice in the theater when the ice pack burst. My server even put in a report on the malfunctioning elevator. As mentioned in my previous review, the padded recliner seats, free parking, and food options are all pretty great. Season Pass makes frequent visits pretty affordable. Now if Alamo would just get rid of those $2 per film "service fees"...

Yelp
Food and service are decent. Service is pretty slow but the waitstaff are kind. Beautiful ambiance with full service bar.

Yelp
We visited for the first time on a Tuesday night. There is street parking and garage parking. Garage parking was free after 4pm, so that was great! We arrived 30 mins early and we were told it was happy hour, so we could head over to the bar until our movie started. They had some good food and drink specials. All beers under $10.50 were $4 on happy hour, and wine was $5. We each had a beer and ordered the bottomless popcorn before heading to the theater. The theater itself was very cool and decorated with classic movie posters. The seats were comfortable. Staff came by before the movie to make sure you know how to place an order, as well as ask for a refill on the bottomless popcorn. We got to the bottom of our popcorn bowl by the end of our movie, so no need for a refill. But still thought that was a good deal! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
The Alamo Drafthouse is a great place to see a movie. The recliner seats are extremely comfortable. Ideally if you arrive early you can have drinks and dinner in the restaurant. We ordered food at our seats. Our server was great. I ordered the mezcal watermelon margarita. It was delicious. We also had the chicken fingers and a steak and cheese sandwich. Each entree was served with fries. The food was good but not very hot. My biggest complaint is it was cold in the theater. I will definitely be making a trip there soon.
