Dine-In Alamo Drafthouse Movie Theater Lands in Cass Corridor in 2020 | Eater Detroit

"An acclaimed movie-theater-restaurant chain from Austin is slated to open a 44,000-square-foot, nine-screen venue at 90–114 Stimson St. in the Cass Corridor (near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Woodward Avenue). The project is estimated to cost more than $13 million and will seat roughly 900 people, combining first-run and independent film programming with a robust bar-and-restaurant menu served during screenings. The land sale (the parcel is owned by the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department) was still being finalized and the development requires Detroit City Council approval, with developers aiming to break ground by the end of the year; the arrival is being framed as significant new cinema capacity for a city that currently has relatively few theaters within its limits." - Brenna Houck

Basically sold a kidney to get the movie tickets with the expectation we'd also get to do mini golf before the show because I'd heard it was fun. Showed up excited only to find out you not only had gotten rid of mini golf, but you replaced it with useless gigantic chairs for a bar area that was almost empty. What's more confusing is all of the signage and stuff around (like an entire hole setup) still indicating the presence of something golf-related. I don't even care how the movie experience goes. I don't even care if the food is decent. I will never step foot in your establishment again. Post-Movie Update: Chicken tenders were very dry and way overcooked. Those and the fries were lukewarm. Pretzel was tasty, although the queso was bland. Not impressed with food overall, especially considering the inflated prices. We won't be coming back.

I had an absolutely great time! Was there for New Nightmare for the first time and was very happy with my experience. I would recommend this location to anyone! Food was great, cocktail was amazing, Truffle Parm popcorn was very amazing. Very happy with the location!

Looooved our movie-going experience here! Had never heard of Alamo Drafthouse before, until I saw someone post on twitter their flyer for K-Pop Demon Hunters sing-along, showing all the goodies they would include with ticket purchase for the movie-going experience. I gathered 3 other friends and we drove from Miami to come enjoy the theater. My friends had never heard of this franchise either and were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience, including service in our seats. We had a really great time and wish we had a theater like this in South Florida. Would love to go back for more events!

I came with my grandparents and they didn’t want to use the app on their phones to order (my grandpa wanted to pay so we couldn’t do it on my phone). I asked if we could write our orders down and the employee was really rude about it, said we couldn’t because Zootopia and Wicked meant they were too busy. I insisted and she came over and took our orders verbally and was pretty rude about it. She seemed overwhelmed. It’s obviously not her fault. The management is severely understaffing this location because they are cheap and it shows. All of the employees seemed very stressed out because there wasn’t enough people for a busy holiday week. Every Alamo I’ve been to has been a great experience except for this one. The mobile ordering sucks, people pay a lot to come here for a premium experience and when that’s not provided then it’s a waste of money. May as well go to AMC.

We loved it here. Took my kids to watch demon slayer. Blaze our server guide was welcoming and friendly.

Used to love this place and come every week. Service is slow, waited 40mins for a drink. Never get everything I pay for in the first serve. Then they take another 20-30minutes to bring a forgotten drink, ranch or napkins. They don’t play vintage movies anymore as often as they did when first opened. Food quality has gone down and prices up. Just a disappointment.

When they first opened, we had a great time. Server met us when we sat down and took our order each time. New management and everything went to crap. Took away the best parts of the menu. Server takes forever to arrive. Good takes even longer to arrive. Have to eat in the dark. Now you have to scan the menu, no server anymore. Bad part is it's a dead zone for cell phones. You can fill out the order but it won't let you pay. Tried 2 different phones. Won't be coming back.

I took my boys to watch the Shaun of the dead 20th anniversary show and it was what they called a “movie party”. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they gave us several bits of swag that was themed to the movie ahead of the showtime and the theater worker was dressed for the part as well. Once inside, we ordered our food and they bring it directly to you and are available whenever you need throughout the movie. Before the movie started, the host came in to run down how everything worked and they had a chugging competition with water and coke and who could do the best zombie impression for a pair of movie tickets to come back. My son participated and had fun doing it. The ticket price and food are expensive overall, so it may not be the place you go every time, but it’s a fun experience for sure and the reclining leather seats are awesome. It’s a decent trek from Lehigh where we live for sure at an hour away, but it’s a fun time if you love the movies like we do. We will be back again!

Yelp
First time visiting this Alamo location and it exceeded my expectations! Huge fan of Alamo drafthouse and this one does not disappoint. Service was amazing and the value of the food is incredible. Loved how clean and comfortable the facility was. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Neat vibe--celebratory of film and fun, slightly above average food and drinks **for a movie theater** but still a tad pricey for what's being offered. Mini golf is a fun novelty for first time visitors but likely something bypassed during repeat visits. Seating capacity is on the smaller side which is nice and also a necessity, IMO, for the in-movie food & beverage service provided. Seats are comfortable recliners with ample space between you and the next guest. Audio/video quality is as you would expect at any good theater today. The execution of the in-movie food/beverage service however was an absolute disaster, so much so that it detracted from the entire movie enjoyment experience. We filled out the handwritten card and pressed the order button during the previews: 2 cocktails, a diet coke and 1 popcorn. 20 minutes later we had to flag down a different server to inquire about our order's status. He seemed puzzled and asked what we ordered, which I repeated. ~10 mins later we received half our order accompanied by two rain check tickets and a popcorn voucher along with sincere apologies for the missed order. Shortly after, we received our diet coke and popcorn. Later in the movie I placed a second drink order which took 3 minutes to be picked up. 15 minutes later our row was alerted to "last call" and I again mentioned that I hadn't received my order. 10 minutes later we were brought the check and alerted that the bar had "missed our order" but that the drink was being made now. ~5 mins later I received my second drink. It was clear others were having similar issues and the servers seemed to constantly be ducking and talking to other patrons about their orders which overall was very distracting, and mind you, our theater was probably only about 30% full. Logistically the in-movie food/beverage service was a failure. The button feature seems flawed vs. an app-based function. Hard to tell if there were issues with specific servers, the overall system, or both, but if these issues aren't corrected quickly, this might be the Alamo's last stand.

Yelp
A movie theatre that doesn't sell bottled water?!?! This is a bar that shows movies. Food is VERY marginal. Nit a fan, will not be planning movies here.

Yelp
First night opened. Been waiting months. We were regulars in NC. Not loving this one and hope they make changes. Service was excellent as always. Food excellent as always. We went there only for dinner and drinks. Atmosphere.... dumb. Seriously. Get rid of mini golf and put in tables to eat at. People will come. Drafthouse but drafts are hidden. Not even sure what beers they sell, its not clear. Kitchen weirdly " curtained" in. It feels " temporary". Demographics here: older, $, and want to eat and drink. Want good " old movies", not weird stuff. Demographics here: conservative, not liberal. Market to your demographics. And what happened to boozy shakes? Where did they go?

Yelp
We were so excited for Alamo Drafthouse Cinema-Naples to open. Opening days definitely had some challenges. When our wine order arrived we thought, this is a joke, right? $15 for what? We were told it was a 6z. pour. Clearing not. See my attachment. Plus, the wine selection was not great. So much more to say about our wine experience, but I'll move on to the popcorn service. The popcorn was the best and delicious, but you could not order and take into the theater. We had to wait for a server to come to our seat to take our order. Then 30 minutes or so prior to the movie ending a server, like a ninja, shows up and asks to take away your credit card from your site to charge for the popcorn. No one whats to risk having their credit card compromised. They need to rethink this service. Sadly, no matter how wonderful the popcorn was, we won't be returning anytime soon.

Yelp
Food's great, the service is impeccable. the atmosphere of the theatres is exactly what i was looking for. thank you alamo drafthouse!! The mini golf is super cool, and thank you for air conditioning. The boozy shakes are great. everything is great. thank you!

Yelp
Going by yourself, expect bad and long service times, the servers pay more attention to bigger parties, I had my button pushed and still no one came, waited 10 minutes and had to go find a server myself, they also don't take away your beer glasses and plates

Yelp
Alamo drafthouse in Naples was much needed. I have never been but am so glad I went. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing. We got to the theater early to play a round of mini golf and had a great time. The theater was such an improvement over Silverspot. This will be our new go to theater moving forward!
