Philly’s Best Mediterranean Restaurants

"This family-owned restaurant in Olde Kensington, which also doubles as a hookah lounge, is one of the few spots in Philly serving Jordanian cuisine. Choose from hearty platters of chicken or lamb shawarma, falafel, and hummus, or try one of its flavorful salads, such as the tabbouleh (made with bulgur, parsley, tomatoes, and onions dressed in lemon and olive oil) or the fattoush salad (featuring lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, and more)." - George Banks-Weston

Their mixed kabab platter was absolutely amazing. It has been 4 years I am coming here and their food quality is always top-notch. Beautiful presentation, unique flavors, freshness of ingredients, everything was perfectly balanced. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine, then this place will be your second home. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful experience at Alamodak! The food was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of charm, with great music and friendly staff. A perfect spot for a relaxing meal with great vibes. Highly recommend!

I love hookah bars, every city I visit I try to find a good one, they are a safe place for me. You could tell that they took pride in every aspect of the experience. I had fantastic hummus, and I was blown away by how tender and flavorful the kufta was. The staff was attentive and friendly. They don't have clay heads, but the grapefruit bowl was a perfect substitute. They have Al Fahker tobacco and coconut coals which are the main necessity. I honestly don't have a negative thing to say. Probably the hardest thing to do when you try to do hookah and food service together is providing a quality balance of both. They excel in both arenas, and I just wanna come back to try more food 🙌🙌🙌

Some of the best food I’ve had in a long while. Very affordable, service is incredible and the food was out of this world.

This place goes above and beyond in customer service. They are accommodating and friendly. I end up going a few hours at a time. Lounge on 2nd floor. Great for party's, lights and music included. belly dancers Saturdays 10pm w/ $5 or $10 cover. Phenomenal Mediterranean food. $15 hookah for your birthday. No hard liquor solid but there's wine, beer and shooters.

My youngest son suggested we try Alamodak because he had heard great things about the food, and I’m so glad we did! He already has a taste for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors, but for my older son and me, it was a new experience. I tend to be a little more adventurous with food, but my older son was skeptical at first. However, by the end of the meal, we all genuinely enjoyed it. The flavors were rich and authentic, and it was a great way to step outside of our usual dining comfort zone. The staff was extremely attentive and provided excellent customer service, which made the experience even better. They took the time to explain the menu and ensure we were comfortable with our choices. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try something new. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere! Would absolutely return again!

I loved the coziness of the upstairs area. The food didn't disappoint & was really delicious. The belly dancer was another great highlight of the evening. I highly recommend Alamodak & I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I first learned about Alamodak from a Yelp Elite Squad event (thank you to our CM Megan C!), and apparently I'm more recognizable than I thought. Shortly after we arrived Francisco recognized me and greeted me like an old friend, which was really lovely, but also. my cover is blown. I don't advertise that I'm a Yelp reviewer because I want to avoid getting a different experience. SO The food was fabulous. I took a couple of my friends from out of town there for dinner one night. Well, one is from Pennsauken so I don't think that's super out of town. My other friend was from western Massachusetts. We ordered: Freshly Squeezed Lemonade with mint - very refreshing, not cloyingly sweet. Labneh with zatar and pomegranates. We almost licked the plate clean. This was a huge huge hit. Harira soup, also a huge hit. One of us got the lentil soup instead, which was also good, but the Harira was the star. We got a family sampler of hummus, baba ghanoug, tabbouleh, one other thing. It was very good, we were already starting to get full. Uh oh. Then to the entrees. One of us got the Tomato Kufta, the other got the Kufta with Tahini so we could compare. Both were great, I liked the tomato kufta slightly better. I can't remember what the third entree was, my guest was already so full he basically took it home, and told me later how it was good even a day later. Lastly, mint tea, Jordanian style, with a little jar of honey, and then baklava, which was great, not too sweet, crunchy and soft, just yum. Service was great, please see disclosure above, though. I doubt anyone else's experience would be different. The restaurant was warm and inviting in its' decor. We didn't go upstairs to the hookah lounge. Don't let the exterior fool you, inside it's comfy and welcoming. Parking...it's PHILLY. Street. If you can't parallel park your car in a spot 8" longer than it, take Uber, people. If I, who despises driving to the city, particularly sections that were built before cars existed, will do this, then you know it's a good place to eat. Also, I can get my car in a parallel spot 8" longer than my car. I am, after all, still a Philly girl, living in the 'burbs.

Yelp
We visited this place after our Yelp event at Stateside. The place is very quiet on the first floor but the second floor had all the action with hookah and a bar. Francisco was the general manager and helped guide our choices. His passion made the experience a lot better. He told us basically this restaurant was a traditional Jordan restaurant (they don't really Americanize the food like some places do). The place even started offering an interesting brunch menu I would like to try out one day. For the appetizer we got Falafels, hummus, matabel, salad, and labneh mix. The matabel was amazing. I really liked the smokiness of the eggplant. The falafels were well done as well. I really liked how they tasted fresh. The salad was so delicious that I ate it up super quick (I liked the tanginess of it). The labneh mix was a popular dish at this place. It had an amazing pita that was very fluffy. We got a baklava pistachio milk shake to drink. It was interesting how a whole baklava piece was crushed into it with pistachio. It wasn't too sweet which did kind of ruin it (probably authentic to flavor however). For our main entree we got the Chicken Mandi Special. Francisco learned we loved south Asian spices so he recommended this dish since he said it had similar profile to Indian spices. I really, really enjoyed the spice profile of this dish. I also really enjoyed how easily the chicken came off the bone. At the end of our meal, Francisco got us Alamodak Tea with pistachio baklava. I really liked how the tea pot was in a copper pan. The Alamodak tea had a walnut in the cup and had a hint of cinnamon. It was really good and interesting how we ate the walnuts at the end of the tea. The pistachio baklava wasn't sweet but I really liked the crumbled pistachios on top of it. The top of a spiral case at this restaurant leads to a hookah spot. This place offers comedy shows, belly dancing some nights, etc. The second floor had an interesting 3d image that Francisco pointed out (apparently his dad created it). He did a good job. Can't wait to visit this place again!

Yelp
Attended an event here. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The background story of how this restaurant came to be was very heart warming as well. The entertainment overall is the highlight of it all. You will have fun! The staff joins in on the fun. The belly dancer actually engages with her audience. I didn't drink while I was here so I'm not sure about the drinks. This is a family restaurant that offers hookah on a separate floor to keep it away from the children and they do private events as well. The hummus spreads were very tasty as well as the chicken. The vegan options are very good!

Yelp
The owner Francisco enjoys telling the story behind this family owned Jordanian Mediterranean Restaurant and Hookah bar. This two level space is good for family, friends, and date night with DJ, karaoke, and belly dancing on specific nights. The food is flavorful and made fresh so be patient with your order. Start off with hummus and enjoy the hand painted pictures created by the owners father while you wait for your delicious food to "hit" the table.

Yelp
Customer service was great, very friendly. Unfortunately the food was disappointing, I ordered the mixed grill, there was one single piece of meat for each type. It's a nice place to hang out with friends, especially if you're looking for hookah

Yelp
Very friendly and genuine owner, and the first Jordanian restaurant in Philly! Food makes you feel warm and safe, great flavors. Belly dancing on Saturdays! So fun and interactive

Yelp
I came to Alamodak for a private event and had a great time. The music and belly dancing got everyone out of their seats and having fun. The food was delish!! I've never had Jordanian food before, and it is incredible. I heard from the owner and he shared how the food is completely made fresh. You can definitely tell by the quality of everything. Because my event was buffet style, I'm not completely sure of the names of what I ate. I'll say this though, I very rarely like chicken legs, but the one I had at Alamodak was phenomenal!! I hope to come back and get the full dining experience.

Yelp
On a late Tuesday night, our curiosity and stomach led us to this restaurant. Traffic was low but it allowed us to appreciate the authenticity of the restaurant, from tasteful Jordanian furnishings to music. We were seated at a table quickly where we were given a general overview of the menu. We wanted to taste authentic Jordanian food and that's exactly what were served. From the hummus to falafel to tea, they were all great. However, general Americans may not enjoy it as much due to its delicate flavors. We ordered the Chicken Mandi after discovering it contained spices that tasted similar to Indian dishes. We ended the night by checking out the second floor, reserved primarily for hookah. If you want to taste authentic Jordanian food, this place is highly recommended!

Yelp
Alamodak is my go to for authentic middle eastern food, fun Saturday nights, and hookah! This place has it all! The owner and staff are awesome and they always remember their regulars. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into their food, events and the way they treat their customers. They will forever have my business.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of going to an event here. The food was absolutely delicious and the owner was gracious! The set up is interesting downstairs is your standard restaurant seating, upstairs appears to be their hookah/dancing section where a DJ is present on the weekend. Great vibes and atmosphere! Their food is incredibly flavored, well portioned, and has a good variety of vegetarian and meaty options. Will be returning.

Yelp
Falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, Matabel and labineh are all delicious. I love the fresh herbs in their food.

Yelp
We were here on Friday for dinner and it was the best middle eastern food I have had in a very long time. We ordered the Hummus with meat and their special of the day Chicken Mandi. The chicken mandi is out of this world delicious so if you ever see it on the menu, then please order it. That dish has the most well marinated, melt in your mouth chicken along with a side of very flavorful rice. For dessert, we ordered their Kanafah (apologies if I am misspelling) - so good! Unlike so many other places, their portion sizes are perfect! The meal was so fulfilling, we will definitely come back. To the owner who is so sweet and polite: Please make the Chicken Mandi a regular item on the menu!

Yelp
Good place to get a quick bite. Had ordered some falafel sandwiches and fries. Good quantity and I would say good enough sandwiches. Not comparable to Goldie but better than the once I have eaten at food trucks.

Yelp
They charged $7 plus 33% tax for a single Heineken and told me 18% was standard and never accounted for the rest

Yelp
Great spot for good food and hookah. They have a belly dancer on Saturday nights and a DJ Friday nights. They are no longer BYOB and serve beer, wine and hard seltzers at the bar.

Yelp
I've frequented Alamodak since they 1st opened & normally have no complaints, however, I haven't been in a while & since last visit things have changed. We always order Mixed Grill for 2. This visit I was alone but still ordered Mixed Grill for 2 w/ Veggies. Was so anticipating the grilled veggies & that is wht has changed. This time the Peppers & Onions tht normally are chargrilled along with the meats we're not. Instead the veggies were sautéed which was a bummer in my opinion. Usually love the smoky flavors and grill marks all over the veggies but not this time. Soooooo disappointing whn the grilled veggies were always the star. Also, whts up w/platter for 2 served w/ only half a slice of pita? AND pita came with hot sauce & onions on it. Why the change? Everything else was fine. Grilled Ckn, Lamb Chops & Beef Kebab were deliciously grilled. Will still return but may have to switch up my order & just get sharwarma sandwich along with their vegan options like hummus, falafel and salads. Truly hope owners read my review & switch back to chargrilling all their vegetables cuz sautéed veggies didn't do it for me.

Yelp
I have only visited Alamodak once so far for take out, but really enjoyed the food and experience then! They have a really wide selection of options, including non-meat items, and the falafel with cauliflower and eggplant sandwich that I got was wonderfully delicious, flavorful, and filling. My friends got different shawarma sandwiches and enjoyed theirs as well. They are conveniently open late at night, and I noticed during pick up that they have a really large space. The brief encounters with the staff there was great and would like to visit again.

Yelp
So, check this folks.... Came out on a random Thursday with some friends. My friend called ahead(who highly recommended this place) and made reservations for a group of us, one didn't show, but the rest of us were there. The place is nice inside the tvs are pretty small though, i was squinting trying to watch the eagles game from where i was sitting. I didn't have the hookah so i can't speak on the flavor or smoothness, but i can speak on they're arbitrary rules about hookah. We had been sitting for a while and my friends had ordered hookah by the time we arrived.. it was a fruit hookah. The attendant told us randomly that it's 2 people to a hookah and when our other friends arrived they told us we had to buy another hookah..out of nowhere... remember i told you he made a reservation ‍ it's not like we were "walk-ins"... it's fine if that's the rules....but you get what I'm saying. The food wasn't bad though; however lots of these reviews say they are byob and even when my friend called to make the reservation he asked if it was byob and he was told "yes." We like to follow whatever the rules of the establishment are. Upon arrival we found out that all of those things weren't exactly true... The are not byob.... They are bring hard liquor only which is what they should say.. ohhhh and you also should have a receipt or proof of purchase, which of course we found out after we got there(what if I brought it from home???) ... not only did they not say that, they also don't just charge a bottle/ corking fee like most byobs in town.. they charge per cup/glass fee..... and it's not cheap like $2-$4 PER CUP... very predatory business if you ask me... and it's a little small plastic cup they give you that cost like 2 cents.... SMH.... The thing is we don't mind paying just tell us ahead of time or spell it out on the social platforms! So much more i want to say, but I'll leave it at this.... If you come here prepare to pay whatever prices they make up that day because thats what appears to be happening...... there are several other hookah lounges around town/area i would def do my research and checkout other places and let them keep making up pricing as they go.... #umgetsomebodyelsetodoit

Yelp
Mahalabiya -- my favorite Arabic dessert! (Never had it? Think ras malai if you fancy Indian food. Often flavored with hints of cardamom, rose water, orange blossom water, and other delicious flavoring agents.) My order was rich, flavorful, creamy, and WORTH EVERY THIN DIME, honey. Oh my
google avatar

Yelp
The food was pretty good. They have a wide selection on the menu, even something for children (nuggets & fries). Our server was wonderful, he took his time to answer questions and explain exactly what our dishes included. We had a 6 year old with us who only wanted fries and nuggets and thankfully they were able to accommodate her wishes. We all enjoyed our food and the drinks. We visited the upstairs to check out the hookah lounge and it was a nice space. It was pretty chill since it was the middle of the week and the middle of the day. My daughter loved it and plane to celebrate her birthday there next month. I would return, i was totally satisfied with my visit.

Yelp
I ordered delivery via Grubhub and overall thought the food was satisfactory. First, the Gyro was relatively standard, on par with just about every other one you'll get elsewhere. However, the fries were actually seasoned and were not soggy unlike many places. The Greek salad was somewhat different than other places as it was a chopped version. I can't say this made it better but it was not bad. Overall this spot was not bad for delivery and I would get it again given the right circumstances.

Yelp
There are not a whole lot of reasons to visit this part of town, but Alamodak changes that. Connected to by the super hip Keystone Mini Golf and Stateside Distillery, Alamodak should not be overlooked. The food is infused with love, tradition, culture, and spices shipped directly from Jordan. You can get your Middle Eastern fix with a Jordanian twist on Hummus, Baba Ghanoug, Labneh, Chicken Schwarma, and....Penne Vodka?? You bet. I came here with the Best Bite supper club and sampled some of the best food I've had in a minute. Everything was served fresh, and the flavors were INSANE! It was an incredible opportunity to indulge in a cuisine not commonly stumbled upon. Where else can you find spices directly from the source? The Jordanian family who owns and runs Alamodak is passionate about their craft, and it shows in the hand painted portraits that decorate the walls, and careful curation of delectable eats. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite dish. The Hummus with meal, Labneh, and Baba Ghanoug were all equally memorable in their texture and taste. I could easily make a meal of just those appetizers. The Magloobet Zahra, a dish of rice, fried cauliflower, potatoes, and some incredible sauce situation. Though non-traditional, the penne was very good, and the chicken scharwarma platter was delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Undoubtedly the highlight, must-buy is their housemade Lemonade with Mint. It's INSANELY refreshing, enchanting, and smooth. Just trust me. There's good street parking in the area, and there's a hookah lounge upstairs. If you're craving something different, I'd encourage a visit to Alamodak.

Yelp
The bill for dinner pick up was a bit high, but the quality was pretty obvious. Small wrap, taster portions of dips, but the meat and ingredients tasted great and the flavors were authentic. They might have better portions in person.

Yelp
This was our first time dining at this lovely middle eastern restaurant. The owner, Francisco, and his staff were very welcoming. The decor is simple but with authentic cultural accents and paintings by the owners father. Everything was made to order and tasted incredibly fresh. My husband and I shared a small hummus, and a larger spiced labneh platter with pomegranate seeds, crushed pistachios and zatar (which I will dream about tonight) and freshly fried pita triangles. We also shared an order of the mixed grill for one (with chicken shawarma, lamb and ground beef kibbeh) and an Arabic salad (simple and delicious green salad with black olives and lemon). It was more than sufficient even though we shared only one entree. We entered as strangers and left as friends, and we look forward to returning. Note- there's a hookah bar up cool spiral stairs with a Dj and belly dancers on sat nights . The meat is halal. It's also BYOB but they recently started serving beer and wine.

Yelp
Great service. Awesome food. Will be back. The value is incomparable to other Mediterranean restaurants. The pressed shawarma. The falafel. And especially the mixed grill with kofta lamb chops and chicken were outstanding!

Nathan B.

Yelp
Delicious food, quick friendly service, and a super cute feel to the place - downstairs is restaurant, upstairs is hookah and food available.

Brian W.

Yelp
Underwhelming. Everything lacked seasoning including the mixed grill. Hummus needed citrus and salt. Service was good. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Yelp
We love food and trying new places in general - but there is a special fondness that I have for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods - hummus, labneh, falafel, lamb kebabs, etc. are all things that I thoroughly enjoy and cannot seem to get enough of. We had seen Alamodak on Instagram and immediately wanted to give it a whirl. We are in the midst of this pandemic and don't have a car, so we opted for delivery. Not only did the food travel well, it was delicious - leaving me excited to try it again (and again and again). We went a little crazy with what we got - lamb kabab, labneh, hummus, a special labneh, some special dish, and more... so much stuff I cannot even remember everything. That said, nothing disappointed. Nothing at all. The lamb kebab was so good, I refused to share it... I know, selfish of me, but it was some of the best I have had in a long time. Engaging with the staff was easy, getting our food was easy, the food was great, and the prices were more than fair from where I sit. If you are craving some delish grub - I highly recommend you check Alamodak out!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!!! I just moved to the neighborhood and ordered in whilst unpacking. It was unbelievable - way exceeded my expectations. I got the chicken schwarma- it is the best I've ever had. I also got some cream cheese like dip with chips. I will definitely order again (and again!)

Yelp
... and once again, I'm dusting off this review in my queue. A few of us went to Alamodak for a tasting menu, which happened to be vegetarian. We left no diner hungry, thanks to Francisco, the owner. The yes: - Non traditional appetizer combo: Fattosh , stuffed grape leaves, foul medames, hummus and falafel. To die for (every little bite of it.) - Maklouba, vegetarian with eggplant. Very flavorful. Keep in mind, this is a special order and not on the daily menu. - Smoked Chicken Shawarma, I had it on a separate visit. Delish. - Mint Lemonade. Fresh and yummy. - The décor is charming; filled with the owner Francisco dad's artwork. Downstairs is the family restaurant, and upstair is a comfy hookah lounge, where you can enjoy your food as well. - It is a BYOB. Enough said. Tip: Go to Stateside and pick up your vodka. - Plenty of parking outside, also few blocks away from Market-Frankford Line. YAS! The eh: - Some menu items you have to order ahead. My issue is that I don't know when I'll crave what. I still want to try their take on Umm Ali ( a delicious traditional Egyptian dessert equivalent to American bread pudding.) - It's far from the city. Well, not really, but for lazy city-people like me, we'd like our to-go restaurant to be around the corner. If you'd like to try an authentic jordanian food, look no further. Four Yelps.

Yelp
Who knew we had authentic Jordanian cuisine right here in Philly? Thanks to Francisco and his kindness of welcoming a group of Yelpers into Alamodak for a tasting, now we know too. Alamodak is literally around the block as Fermentary Form and a hop skip and a jump from Evil Genius. They are BYOB so I see many Saturday brewery trips morphing into Jordanian dining trips after. Jordanian cuisine is similar in concept to other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern styles. The spices are the biggest differentiators. Don't worry, spice haters- it's not too hot. Don't worry spice lovers, there's plenty of flavor. We had a plethora of vegetarian appetizers including hummus, pickled veggies, grape leaves, Fattosh salad, Foul Madame and falafel. Not sure what some of that was? Neither did I until yesterday. The Fattosh salad was lettuce, cucumber, tomato, green pepper, onions, parsley, sumac, lemon olives oil and toasted bread. It was more cucumber, tomato and onion heavy versus anything else- which was a good thing. It was doused in the sumac, parsley and olive oil. It reminded me more of an Italian cucumber salad. A nice break from random stuff with letture. The Foul Madame is fava beans, olive oil, parsley, onion, garlic and lemon juice, and was HANDS DOWN my favorite. To steal wording from my non-actively Yelping husband, it was like a chili. We were able to dip it in bread, but I would've been fine with just a spoon. Our main course was this huge tray of rice and veggies. To be honest, I'm not sure exactly it is called. It's not on the online menu, and it was something you'd call in ahead of time. It's best split in a group since it is such a big size. The veggies were eggplant, onion and cauliflower and the rice was dense and filling. I couldn't pick out every flavor, but there was definitely a hint of cinnamon. Our tasting was all vegetarian, but there were meat dishes that absolutely piqued my interest for next time. The use of cheese, sauces and spices also seemed really interesting. The menu was quite intensive, so it'll take some time to get through everything if I don't always return in a big group. The restaurant was charming with authentic Jordanian decor and artwork by Francisco's father. There is a hookah lounge upstairs decorated similarly. It smelled lovely, had comfortable seats and a TV, which was currently playing soccer. I could imagine this being such a chill place for a game. Francisco and his staff were truly accommodating, and welcomed us with open arms. They were happy to tell us Jordanian cuisine and the dishes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting- a place for friends to dine out for a night or families to have a nice meal. They are also on Grubhub; I envy those within delivery range. I'm happy to have been introduced to Alamodak and can't agree more that it fits in well to the Philly food scene.

Yelp
The food here is amazingly good. They have many Middle Eastern dishes I have not seen in other Restaurants. I went on a Friday afternoon and after the luscious meal decided I had to come back that weekend to sample other dishes. The special was fresh Lebne with walnuts, pomegranate seeds, Zataar, olive oil and mint. My husband had the smoked meat sandwich. Both were delicious. I plan on inviting other people so we can share as many dishes as possible. The waitress was wonderful and very welcoming. The prices are more than reasonable. There is plenty of parking nearby.

Yelp
This place is great. As long as they keep the prices down we'll continue to make trips out here.

Yelp
I had a fabulous time at a special tasting meal hosted by Francisco from Alamodak. Alamodak specialize in Jordanian cuisine, the kitchen has an open window you can view in and the chief if from Joardan. They have a downstairs family friendly seating area which is decorated with artwork by Francisco's father. Upstairs they have a hookah lounge, you can get food in both section. Francisco took the time to explain to us each of the dishes and a little about the restaurant it was very interesting and informative. I really enjoyed the Fattosh salad was lettuce, cucumber, tomato, green pepper, onions, parsley, sumac, lemon olives oil and toasted bread. The dressing was light but flavorful. I also really enjoyed our main meal which was a special rice dish, ours came vegetarian but its available with meat as well. I am not a huge rice person but this was delicious, it was very flavorful not too spicy not too bland. We also got to try the hummus, pickled veggies, grape leaves, foul madame and falafel. Wasn't a huge fan of the falafel but glad I tired the Jordanian take on the dish. I could see myself coming back to Alamodak or ordering take out.

Yelp
I was in the area to see a play at the Fringe Arts and they are one block away. Loved the food and the mint lemonade they have is delicious, and freshly made! Good falafel and hummus. Lots of options for non-meat and meat eaters. We all left with full bellies.

Yelp
So. I drive by here a lot going to the gym. Thought to my self..self let's check the food out. Coming from a Lebanese and Syrian family, I was craving some good Middle Eastern food. In short, the food was really good. Great taste, hot and freshly made. Yeaaa home run. Wait!!! No exactly, the witness was so incredibly disorganized and forgot every stage of my meal. LoL. And here is the kicker, I was the only table in there. Anyways, modestly priced. Good food. Really cool ambience as well. On my way out, I said good bye to some Pretty Middle Eastern young lady who looked at me like I was fucking nuts. So, I made sure to tell her to hVe. Great night. Still no reaction. I am sure she was upset about her horrible hair die job. Who knows. Try the place out. Why not.

Yelp
Loved this new restaurant. The staff was attentive, the atmosphere was fun and of course the food was amazing. Started with some great Turkish coffee. The hummus was incredibly fresh. Falafels were perfect. All the meat was seasoned to perfection. The staff was really excited about their restaurant, telling us about specials and menu items. When we left, they asked if we could take pictures in their photo corner. We put on some Middle Eastern clothes and they took a few pictures of us. It was a lot of fun.

Yelp
I love the tabuli salad. And those cheese pies are probably going to kill me but they are like a mozzarella stick made love to a cheese dumpling and I love them. Especially dipped in that garlic aoli. The chicken is usually cooked just fine but can be a little fatty or tough. The hummus is good but could use more olive oil.

Yelp
We found this restaurant by luck. Some of the pluses are good parking, nice atmosphere, great service, very nice portions and just simply excellent food. We had the mixed grill which was prepared to perfection. The falafel plate was perfect ,crispy and perfectly seasoned. This restaurant is only 3 months old. The real negative is that it isn't closer to home. Coming from Holland is a drive but we can honestly say this will be our go to middle eastern restaurant.

Yelp
Major kudos to Francisco and his team for a fantastic evening of excellent food and service! I came here with a large group of (hungry) friends, and by the end of the evening we were all stuffed with delicious goodness of the Jordanian cuisine which Alamodak specializes. We had a number of vegetarian dishes, including the best hummus I've EVER had, the stuffed grape leaves, the Greek salad, the hot pink pickled turnip, an outrageously good quinoa-and-eggplant dish called maqdouse, the spicy foul medames dip, and falafel so fresh that the steam burst right out when I cut one in half with my fork. Everything was ridiculously delicious, with fresh, high quality vegetables and spices. This is coming from a Greek girl; given the overlap between Middle Eastern and Greek cuisines (um, the Greek salad and dolmades we had) I've got high standards, and while the spice profile for many of the foods was unique, I was definitely able to appreciate the quality of the preparation of the different dishes. Next time I would definitely want to come back to try the grilled halloum cheese (if you've never had any, you don't know what you're missing) and the mamoneyah dessert sounds amazing too. Francisco, the owner, and his staff were wonderful about explaining all the details about all the dishes to my friends and me, and were very friendly and attentive to make sure that everyone was 100% happy with their experience here. Alamodak is a BYO family restaurant downstairs, and the walls are decorated with the gorgeous portrait paintings done by Francisco's father, a really nice touch in a very comfortable, homey setting defined by elegant hardwood floors and furniture, and an open-window to the kitchen so that you can take a peek to watch as your food is being made. The full hookah lounge upstairs is filled with comfortable, plush couches, imported straight from Jordan, and the whole ambiance, further accented by more beautiful paintings and decorative touches, gives you the feeling of transported to the Middle East from within Old Kensington. On Saturday nights they have belly dancing performances, and probably the part I'm most excited about, international music for the patrons to dance to! AND I think they do karaoke on Friday nights! Thanks so much to my fellow Yelper friends Sari and Michelle for helping me discover what might now be my new favorite Philly restaurant!

Yelp
I met some friends here for some hookah on a Saturday night, and when I arrived things were still pretty quiet. There was one other party in the main area, and I didn't really get a look at the extension to the room so hard to say there. Following my entrance though, I and the people I was with just sat there waiting for service. After 15 minutes I waved a server over as she was passing to the room extension, which she had visited several times over the period, and finally ordered some hookah for our group. A friend ordered some pita and hummus, and a smoothie, and I seconded the latter. Another group member ordered some Shawarma. At 15 minutes the Sharwarma arrived, which isn't bad, at 20 minutes the pita and hummus finally arrived, which, I hate to speak in absolutes, is unacceptable. Of course already using 'unacceptable' leaves me with a dearth of descriptors for the continuation of this review. See, when the smoothies made it to us at minute 25, I had already affirmed with my companions "Hey, usually when we order hookah at a place we have it in like 5 minutes, right?" and indeed in that time we had seen parties that arrived after us receive their hookahs. I asked if our hookah order was still on and was told it was, just the coals were still heating up (our coals take longer to heat up?). At minute 30 since our order, another group show up. They have three hookahs on their table by minute 35. At 40 we get our first hookah, and the others finally follow inside of 5 minutes. On receipt of our hookah, my friend orders some more pita, which had gone quickly in the absence of our planned inhalations. 25 minutes after that, there is still no bread, so when the server makes a rare stop at our table to refresh our coals, my friend asks about it, and gets told something that none of us can really pin down about it still heating or something. At 45 minutes, still with no bread, she goes to the counter to inquire, and gets waved off in a similar fashion. At 60 minutes after ordering (I'm still not sure what to go with after expending 'unacceptable,' but this is definitely that) my friend returns to the counter asking to see a manager. The bread finally arrives, notably without manager, 5 minutes following, but my friend gets told they're sorry and will give her a free desert, which miraculously arrives in the following 10 minutes (though I suppose it was likely something frozen being heated). Later, about a half hour after the point where my party would have asked for a check if anyone had stopped by, we went up to the counter to pay. As we left, putting an evening of being treated with what felt like outright contempt given the comparison point of other parties in the establishment behind us (and having had the privilege of paying for it), I felt a sense of calm knowing I'd never have to have that experience again, since I would surely never return to Alamodak.

Yelp
I am writing this review real time. We have been here for an hour. We asked three times for water. Twice for opening the wine bottles. They took 10 minutes to bring glasses for wine once it had been opened and we had to ask. They did not bring enough glasses. Two members of our party received and completed their entrees before anyone at the table got their appetizers. Four people have eaten their entire meals, three are missing apps. We have now been here an hour and a half and two people have not received their meals at all. Hummus arrived after entrees and it arrived ice cold. The manager came, he gave excuses. He told us that they are very busy (there is one other table here). Lastly, he informed us that lamb takes very long to cook, that's why people are still missing their meals. Only two of those are lamb, and two other people have already eaten their lamb dishes. We are waiting on the check and have been waiting 10 minutes. We were brought a free desert after we asked for the check. The desert came on a platter after members of our party were standing up and putting their coats on. This is absolutely unacceptable for any place of business. We made a reservation and arrived on time. This was very disappointing.

Yelp
This place is great. We went for a bachelor party and the bachelor REALLY enjoyed himself Im not the biggest hookah fan but they had good flavors and the hookah pulled well. Food was great. We paid as a party so we had a buffet style spread. This place is a 5 off the management alone. Very nice and welcoming. The owner even bought the groom a personal bottle of champagne. We've never met him before in our lives. That showed a-lot of character

Yelp
Was in town for Wizard World Philly and craving Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. Alamodak popped up in the list online, and after browsing the menu, took the plunge. Ordered the Alamodak falafel, Alamodak sandwich, large hummus, and Maqloobeh Cauilflawer special. I was not disappointed at all. The Maqloobeh Cauilflawer was, in a word, phenomenal. It came with essentially a 1/4 chicken that literally fell off the bone as I lifted it. Seasoned perfectly, super soft and not dry at all. I usually don't eat 1/4 chicken (have a thing about bones), but this was perfect. The Alamodak sandwich was just as good. Chose it over the burger, and the blend of flavors almost got us to order a second one just because. The pita was thin and toasted, which was perfect. Now there was one slip-up: while I had ordered hummus, I received labneh. I'd never had labneh before. And this was a most pleasant surprise, as the labneh complimented the rice in the special, worked perfectly as a dip for the sandwich, and tasted great just with pita itself. I would definitely order it again...in fact, I want to try it locally to me, to see if it's just as good. All in all, this place was worth the wait for dinner. Fantastic food. Fantastic flavor. And the delivery driver went above and beyond, calling to let me know when she left and where she was. Will definitely order from again next time I'm in Philly.

Yelp
First of all, the food here is amazing. My girlfriend treated me for dinner and props to her for picking this place. I thought they were understaffed at first but it was a slow rainy day. Service was awesome and we both left full. If you like lamb, falafel or gyros this is the place for it! Didn't get to see the belly dancers cuz it was on the wrong day lol Definitely recommend!!!! Enjoy yourself!
