AL'an Ruben's Bar & Grill

Everything is always so good here. Our group visited for a birthday dinner. The mozzarella appetizer is a must. Nothing compares! We also got fried zucchini, also delicious. I ordered the ravioli special, which did not disappoint. My husband chose the seafood pasta. It was a very large, flavorful portion with plenty to take home. After such a large meal, there was no room for dessert but we did take a piece of cookies and cream cheesecake home. Get the dessert! The staff is incredibly friendly and always has a few minutes to chat. I also appreciated the smooth jazz playing in the background. It was an all-around perfect evening out.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Most amazing dinning experience in 20 years. Definitely deserves a 3 star Michelin dinning experience ❤️ Chicken Romano is pictured. Romano dipped chicken breast topped with mushrooms, scallions and a Marsala wine sauce.

A must dish to try is their fried provolone in cream sauce, 😋 oo lala. HThe desserts 🍨 🥧 🍦 will melt your taste buds into heaven.

Horrible experience at AL'an Rubens. We have always heard such great things about this restaurant so we decided to drive the hour to Washington to try to it out. We got there at 4:30pm on a Saturday. We did wait 30 minutes to be seated which wasn't a problem but after being sat, another 15 minutes went by before a waitress asked if we had been waited on. We said no so she went to tell the host. The host came over and said it was his fault he didn't tell the waitress she was sat Even though she served the table right next to us that was sat after us! So the host apologizes and takes are bar drink order and says the bar is backed up. They should have told the bartender to make them on the fly but nope. The waitress finally came over and got us water (30 minutes at this point) and took our order. Our apps and salad came out and we still didn't have our drinks! After an hour of sitting there we told her to just cancel our drinks. I watched several tables who were there after us get served and even left before us. Maybe they just don't care about 2 tops and only care about larger parties. There were also several tables open with many people waiting in line to be seated. After almost 20 years in business I would think they would have their system down but it seemed like they were all running around like headless chickens. I've never seen a restaurant so unorganized. If the food had been good it would have made up for it. We got the Ruben balls and mozzarella and carozza, both were not good! I gave the left overs to my dog. We also got the chicken parm, penne ala vodka and Mac and cheese. The penne was ok but to much salt. The chicken parm was just ok not fabulous, but the Mac and cheese was excellent. That's the only star I could give them. We finally got out of there at 6:30pm! 2 hours for a crappy dinner experience. Has to be only old people that like this place. Definitely won't be wasting my gas again by going here.

My friend and I ate here yesterday, we had the mozzarella in carroza for an appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. You have to get this if you go there. For our meals I had to Tortellini Al’ Fonz, and she had the Penne Leesa, both were outstanding, our server Ryan an excellent job of explaining all the meals and desserts to us and was very attentive. The bread pudding for dessert was the best I ever had. So if you’re in Washington PA, I would suggest you stop here and order one of their excellent meals. We traveled 65 miles to go here and we weren’t disappointed.

This was a spur of the moment pick and my husband and I were SO HAPPY we found this place. The staff were all amazing and so incredibly nice. The food was out of this world, especially the Mozzarella in Carroza (10/10!) and chicken parmesan! We will definitely be back soon!

This is one of our anniversary go to restaurants. The food is always excellent, large portions and A lot of variety to choose from. The appetizers are out of this world and the desserts are in the same category. I love the bread pudding and they also include directions so that you Heat it correctly from your home. The staff is wonderful. They treat you like family from the time you walk in the door until the time you walk out. This restaurant is fantastic all the way around.

Don't let the outside fool you. Straight from the door you feel like you came to your favorite Granny's house. Owners are sooo welcoming. Then you taste the food the drive was over 44mins for us but we'll worth the travel. We had Ruben balls, zucchini planks, black and blue burger, crab cakes sandwich.

EVERYTHING is amazing!! You can't go wrong with anything you try! The staff are all wonderful! Althought I am not a cheesecake fan from anywhere, Al's are absolutely beautiful and the flavors are always interesting! Now the five layer cakes are my thing! Always follow his post and look for my faves! The lemon cake, pina colada cake and almond cake are my go to's, however, they all are amazing!!!

An incredible small business I wish I lived closer to to support more often. Most recently went with family and we didn't have a single complaint. Incredible food & service. It's a gem that you can tell each plate is made with thoughtfulness!

I wanted to love this place so badly. The wait took very long, which is fine with me, I'm willing to wait for great food & service.. Finally once we got seated, both parties asked for ice water with lemon. They brought ice water, with no lemon, fine, I didn't say anything. We ordered, everyone else around us got bread with their salad. When I finally asked for it twice after my pasta came, I finally got it. They told me they don't give bread until people ask, "just in case they don't want it and so it doesn't go to waste". (Not sure if this is true or they're just saying that to make up for everyone else in the dining room getting bread without asking) The food is extremely good but they need to work harder at managing under the pressure of being busy. Food came really fast once we got seated. By the end of the meal we were completely out of water. The place has extraordinary potential once they completely work out the kinks. We got the Dutch apple pie & 5 layer chocolate cake, to go. Anisha was our server. This place has been on my list to try very long. Regardless, I will return and try again :)

Beans n greens not to be missed probably the best I've ever had, they literally make a meal on their own, but everything I've ever had there has been very good and the service is amazing

The service was excellent and the food is unmatched. Would love to come here and have dessert before a meal!!! But I know that I'd have to get my entire meal to go. The waitresses are professional yet friendly, and care about the customers

If you want AMAZING food and Service then you need to find time to try AL'an Rueben's in Washington , PA. We heard about a few years ago and finally tried it. Why did it take us so long ? Upon entering the cozy well lit restaurant you are greeted with a big hello and smile from his wife Leesa or servers who are never standing around. Everyone who works there are constantly busy but super friendly while getting your table ready. The bar has great drinks and specials are listed online or on the chalkboard podium. But, the real challenge is deciding what appetizer, then salad ( With homemade salad dressing ) you want to start your meal with? The entrees are amazing! From Chicken Collini, Crab Cakes, wonderful specialty ravioli to huge Steak salads. There is something for everyone to enjoy! Save room for the dessert list because it is a MUST have even if you are full. Beautiful cheesecakes , yummy layered cakes and wonderful pies. All homemade. If you haven't tried Al'an Rueben's yet. You really need to go and find out for yourself what this hidden gem in Washington, PA is all about.. When I have friends and guests visiting it's my go to place. And they always want to go back ! You will not be sorry.

Friendly and attentive service from the entire staff, plus an excellent meal. I know why everyone I talked to from the area recommended this wonderful restaurant. There may be a wait (I waited 40 minutes), but it's worth it. Every dish is made to order. I had the house special: Chicken Collini, a light and crispy chicken cutlet with crab and artichoke hearts in a lemon pepper cream sauce. It was delicious, and not heavy. The side of penne marinara was fresh and perky.

The food here was outstanding. The chicken was melt in your mouth tender! SO good. The entire staff was also amazing. Very nice and upbeat. A great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

We hadn't been to this restaurant since the pandemic and decided to stop in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Since we were here last, I believe they've done some upgrades to the restaurant. It appears that they've redone the floors which is nice. It's a family owned restaurant and they make sure that the service you receive is both attentive and friendly. But, the biggest attraction is the food. Every meal here is outstanding. Today we ordered (pictures attached) a Sausage Flatbread, the Chicken Salad (it included fries that came on the side) and a 1/2 order of Chicken Piccata w/a side of pasta. Everything was melt in your mouth and utterly delicious. Probably one of the best salads I've ever had. This place is a little out of the way, but is definitely worth a visit. You will NOT be disappointed.

I am a foodie, and appreciate well crafted meals. Hardly ever get excited over Italian restaurants. This family run restaurant is different. Your table gets attention from the whole family. That is why you should make reservations. No typical excuses like we're really busy or the kitchen is backed up. Bar is pretty well stocked and mixed drinks are no problem. All the sauces are made to order and amazing. You have to try the beans and greens. Portion sizes are large and they even offer 1/2 orders. My only complaint if I had one is no veal dishes offered, however what was there was top tier. Our large table ordered a bit of everything and compliments all around.

Al'an Reuben's is my favorite restaurant in Washington. Everything is scratch made in the kitchen and the employees are friendly. The restaurant is clean and neat. Do not skip out on the dessert or fried zucchini!

One of the best- if not THEE BEST- restaurant in Washington, PA. Such a fun and unique menu with some of the most flavorful food ever. If you like bleu cheese even the slightest bit, you have to try their salad with house-made gorgonzola dressing- it is TO DIE FOR! All the food I have ever had here is impeccable. The mozzarella appetizer is so rich and decadent- it's basically a fried grilled cheese covered in a cream sauce. The chicken collini is one of the best dishes I've ever had- chicken cutlets in a cream sauce with crab meat, artichokes, and diced tomatoes to garnish. They used to have a veal collini but it was taken off the menu, probably due to supply chain issues; I always look to see if it's a special though! I DREAM about the lobster mac n cheese here, again some of the best I've ever had. They offer unique specials and incredible desserts. Staff and owners are very friendly. This restaurant gets a lot of hype in Washington but for good reason, and I still find it underrated! Please wear a mask in here if you stop by!

I stopped here for a late lunch with my wife,, We ordered Zucchini strips, beans n greens and the pasta special with shrimp and sausage, Everything was fantastic!! My pasta dish was amazing and everyone we encountered was super friendly. Also ordered the mudslide cheesecake to go, was also outstanding !!! We will definitely be back.

Went to Al an Rubens last night and just WOW! The food was awesome, the drinks were so yummy and the chocolate cake was amazing. Our waitress, Taharia, was so nice and personable - you can tell she enjoyed her job & customers. I can't wait to go back soon!

Surpassing my expectations each time, this restaurant presents superb fare. Each item is made with great care and delicious ingredients. Each bite is like the first, savored and yum! This is a restaurant with excellence, caring for customers, loving where they serve. There is something special about this place. It is a simple but relaxing ambiance.. I feel at ease and welcome . The servers and greeters are so delightful. A pleasure to come here.

It has been a few years since my last visit. Stopped in and ordered a Mozzarella in Carozza as a friend sad IYKYK, almost heaven.... A thick mozzarella fried cheese sandwich, topped with Parmesan cheese sauce. Creamy and cheesy delight. Very good if u are in the mood for a cheesy sandwich. The staff is great! Think everyone stopped be or greeted us in the bar area and just made sure we were taken care of.

Food, service, drinks and atmospheric is amazing. We celebrated my son's graduation dinner there and the staff didn't miss a beat. They came over offered their congratulations even though they weren't working our table and checked on us.

Definitely a gem in Washington! We stopped here for my moms birthday, and we were so pleasantly surprised. You can tell this food is homemade and made with love. The meatballs were some of the best we've had, and the pastas were so fresh. Everything was fabulous. I wish this place were just a tiny bit closer to home for me, but it's definitely worth the trip. The owners are great people, and they run this family business with love. Go support them and get an amazing home cooked meal.

Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Al's recommendation for the beans & greens was to add banana peppers and sausage 10/10 ‍ Tortellini is outstanding and the penne all a vodka is a close second for me.

Absolutely worth the wait! The food and service were awesome. Excellent selection for food and the portion size was big. I had the penne carbonara and my wife had the GF chicken marsala - both were delicious! Small little establishment but all the severs were hustling. Don't judge a book by its cover, this is a destination for any food connoisseur!

The food is fantastic but the owner is a bit over the top on social media. Online presence can make or break a business. It has sort of ruined it for us. For those who are not bothered by this, the food is some of the best you'll find in washington.

This establishment is absolutely amazing from the kindness to the service to the phenomenal food. The way they explain everything to the customers as far as the servers being so busy to the specials is so refreshing. The wait area is a bit tight but pull up a seat at the bar and have a drink. The cheese appetizer was different as they bake cheese between bread with a cream sauce but it was so O.M.G. The salads were small but after the cheese who cares. The chicken parm was to die for as was my wifes dinner but I forget the name. I've enclosed the pictures though. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding which was amazing but we saw others order the apple pie and one slice is enough for 3 people. This place is worth every penny spent.

Another gem in Washington, Pa. You won't find anyone that has anything bad to say about this place. Delicious Italian dishes, sandwiches, desserts. A nice little bar to have a drink at until your ready to be seated. Today, the Sausage Flatbread, absolutely delicious. Brushed with their sauce, gooey cheese, Italian sausage, grilled peppers and onions. A good crunchy crust, 5 stars! Steak and cheese hoagie, side of their version of steak fries. A delicious soft hoagie roll, seasoned tender steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, topped with a horseradish cheese sauce, this is top notch. You can tell when you get better quality of steak, this is it. This place is awesome! I'll put their restaurant against anyone's.

WOW! Finally made it to this restaurant and it did not disappoint! The service was top notch and don't even get me started on the food! Everything was unbelievably delicious!! It was recommended for me to try and now I'm recommending it! I got chicken collini and gorgonzola dressing for the salad. DELISH!! His desserts are amazing too! Go check it out!!

Great place for Italian food. But don't take my word for it, look at all of the other reviews. Four of us dined there on a Thursday evening at around 5:15pm. It was getting busy when we arrived, but packed when we left. Loved the service and menu.

I can't really put into words how awesome this place is. You must go there to experience the greatness yourself! I picked Al an' Ruben's for my birthday dinner and I wasn't disappointed one bit. They truly give you an experience from the time you walk through their doors until the time you leave. The menu is spectacular with something for anybody no matter their taste. The food is out of this world good with HUGE portions. Truthfully you could probably order one entree and share with someone and still leave full with left overs. My go to is their chicken parmigiana. It's always delicious and I literally eat it 3 times before it's gone. The sauce is literally perfect. They really should bottle it up and sell it! My boyfriend ordered the chicken collini and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I had to hear about the lobster that was on top of it for days. We did indulge in a piece of lemon cake since it was my birthday and it literally melted in our mouths. I decided to be nice and share it with my bf. We both really enjoyed it. I can't say enough about how friendly the employees were and how well they took care of us during our time there. If you haven't tried this gem, what are you waiting for? Treat yourself!

Everyone in our party was a first time customer tonight, our work dinner party for Christmas. Everyone's food was delicious. We all said we'll come back again for sure. This place is wonderful, walk in the door and you'll be greeted by a nice bar. Grab a drink while you wait for your party to arrive. Once seated be sure to grab an appetizer! I recommend the Mozzarella in Carozza. On to the main course... it doesn't really matter what you order, the food is going to be great and freshly prepared. I will say, you can't go wrong with the Chicken Collini or Chicken Piccata. Don't forget about dessert! The pies, cakes, or cheesecake will knock it out of the park.

The food was simply Amazing! Don't let the rough exterior (of the building) fool you. When you enter this restaurant it's very nice, the staff are all super friendly, and the food was some of the best I've tasted in PA. You can really smell and taste the homemade goodness in everything. We will definitely be going back. The meals are a very Very good portion (to say the least). The bruschetta was terrific, and the fried mozzarella dish with cream sauce appetizer was off the charts! Thank you!

The woman was extremely rude, we had checked the website, and it said not accepting reservations. We had a party of 9. She began yelling at us, saying "first off, don't ever do this again" and said "we can't accept you if your entire party isn't here" meanwhile they were going to be there in 2 minutes, they were on the street the restaurant is on. That was our first time ever going there. We chose to go elsewhere.

My husband and I had our first visit there today. We ordered two appetizers: 1) mozzarella in carozza 2) Rueben bites 2 entrees: 1) the chicken & sausage "todays special" 2) chicken collini Both entrees came with a side salad and an extra side. The sides we chose were 1) sidewinder fries (my husband used them to dip in his chicken & sausage special sauce) 2) penne marinara We also ordered the egg nog cheesecake to share. Review/ feedback The outside of the building is leery and seems a bit run down but the gem inside is remodeled beautifully. You're welcomed by staff very warmly and friendly. The smells of well made food welcome you and excite you to try the full menu. We liked both appetizers. The winner was the mozz. We found it to be such a delectable bite and more shareable. There were only 3 Rueben balls in the order. Didn't seem as shareable with a family. Suggest making smaller balls so you get more in the order to share with the table. Still a delicious bite! No complaints on the taste. Both of our entrees were divine and highly recommended. My husband loved his sidewinder fries as an addition to his chicken and sausage "special" entree because he used it as the spoon for every bite. My chicken collini entree has plenty of reviews to back & support the hype. DELISH! The penne marinara was perfectly made. The sauce is a litter sweeter than I prefer but you can still tell it was homemade with fresh ingredients which is hard to find. I'd order it again. We topped it off with the eggnog cheesecake. Very flavorful and delicious. The waitress took the extra time and patience to Saran Wrap each of our to go boxes so we would lose any sauces or have spillage. This business is an AMAZING restaurant. As we walked out a waitress walked by with a tray of food. There was a fish sandwich on the tray that was a full sized filet of fish. It looked AMAZING. We will surely be back and be praising this restaurant to everybody along the way. Keep up the GREAT WORK! I'm a new HUGE fan!

Seeing the negative reviews saddens me. First off, this restaurant is wonderful. The staff are so welcoming the second you step through the door and make you feel like family! Now the food.... truly made with love! I order the veal collini (as pictured) every single time. It has been perfect each time I have ordered it, which is a lot! Expect to wait on a busier day, such as a Friday or Saturday. I go in expecting at least an hour wait and that hour is worth it. To the people that expect to be seated the second they walk in, this probably isn't the place for you! To anyone that has patience and a taste for high quality food, check this gem out.

Second visit was just as great! Rarely to have my meal better than the first time but the chicken collini was even better this time! Brought our staff her for Christmas lunch and they loved it. Ruben Ball and Mozzarella Ball apps were fabulous. Others loved the spinach ravioli special and the lasagna. Chocolate and lemon cakes were a hit. Carrot cake was okay.

Wow is all i have to say. Went for lunch and ended up ordering a mix of things we saw going out to other tables. Service was awesome. What a fun experience. Probably one of our new favorites now!!! The staff is so attentive,friendly and entertaining !! Will be back!

When it comes to reviews, I'm either hot or cold. 5 stars or 1, but this restaurant exemplifies the meaning of FIVE STARS. Wow. Just wow. They say there are steps to greatness ... okay maybe they don't, but the first step that showed me this place was going to be awesome started with a step ... literally. While waiting for a table, I decided to have a seat at the bar (There is a step stool to get to the very high chairs, no kidding) The young man came over to tell me the table was ready. He saw my little 5''2 tall body was about to miss that step stool and he took hold of my arm and made sure I didn't fall. My dinner partner and I have not only been friends for decades, but we have also consistently gone to new places on a regular base. Al an' Ruben's was my choice. Our waitress Roy ( I think) was a seasoned professional. She didn't show one bit of annoyance at my dinner mate when she couldn't make up her freaking mind what she wanted. Roy was patient and pleasant despite the busy place and late hour. We ordered Reuben balls. They were awesome but so big. they didn't look as big in the picture. They are Reuben sandwiches formed into a ball and deep-fried. We each had one, because looking around, I could see how big the portions were. The salads were the perfect size and the homemade dressings????? I could have drunk them. Then came the entrees. My dinner mate ordered the Veal Parm and I wanted something I couldn't get elsewhere and I ordered the Steak Piazziola pasta. I got a taste of the huge portion of Veal and it was amazing, crispy and the veal tender. The steak cubes in my pasta were tender and the marsala tomatoie sauce was out of the world. The noodles were cooked to my perfection. I don't like el dente, I like them a bit softer and this is the way it was. The portions were so big, after the salad and appetizer, I barely made a dent, but took it home. I also took home a slice of cake, butter pecan and it was so good. I gave my granddaughter a taste and she ate half. Can we talk about the price? No one mentions it, so I will. The cost was unbelievably affordable for what we had. one adult beverage, one non alcohol, an appetizer, a veal entree, a pasta entree and two desserts. $70. With the leftovers, you can not beat that. Easily they could open in Pittsburgh and charge so much more. The service and food makes this place ideal. I don't care that it took me 45 minutes to get there. I will be back.

Great establishment. Small but meaningful. The way you're greeted by staff is nothing short of feeling very welcomed. Tables were small for my party of 7. But they were prepared and it ran super smooth. Food was AMAZING! They serve top tier meals for very reasonable prices. Staff were very respectful and helpful. During covid my time was only 1 hour and 20 minutes to be settled and eat then leave but that was expected. I will frequent this for all my Italian food fixes. Good job to them!

Stopped in for a late lunch after shopping at Tanger's Outlet. Great food and staff. Beans and greens app, house made salad dressings, ravioli with porcini and truffle filling (wife), creamy chicken Marsala (me), and cheesecake to go. Everything was delicious, staff were kind, and we will be back. Highly recommend that you visit when in the area.

Made our first ever trip out to Al'an Rubens and it was totally worth it! Had the Mozzarella in Carozza as an appetizer and it was really good! Crab cake and chicken parmigiana were the entrees and both were incredible! Had salads and pasta for sides. The White Chocolate Strawberry Muffin Cheesecake was mouth watering!

Always packed, always worth the wait! Double check with his Facebook page for hours, and specials are always posted.

We all know that the food at Al'an Ruben's is amazing. Did you know that they also do cakes and cheesecakes? I recently purchased one for an anniversary party and every commented that it was the best cheesecake that they have ever had! I highly recommend for your next party/birthday/event!
