Me and my wife went there on our honeymoon, and we are big museum buffs. I can say without a doubt, that this is one of the best Paleontology Museums we've ever been too, and we live near the DC Smithsonian. This museum is very informative, and breaks down the information in a very digestive way. Has a great balance of interactive, and non interactive exhibits. It also had a lot of things I've only ever heard about, and seeing them first and was spectacular. The host at the front desk was also very sweet and kind!

I visited this museum back in January. It was a really cool collection. I haven't been to many museums that are quite so interactive. I enjoyed how many of the exhibits were specifically relevant to Alaska and its history while also relating to wider natural history. It's a relatively small museum but is 100% worth the stop! The care of the people who curate the collection is evident.

I actually like this place with the scavenger hunt for the kids. The prices could be better, but it works regardless, They have a small play area that's not bad either. Keeping the kids engaged and learning is always a plus for the kids. Keeps them off the electronics and working their brains. Staff was super chill, no issues there.

Took my 3yr old here, who is learning about dinosaurs. He loved the younger scavenger hunt and treasure! They packed allot into a small space. Even know it seems small we weirdly spent 2 hours here. They have dig pits and shelves of toys that are either creative play or museum themed. Wonderful use of time. Will come again.

This is a fun small dinosaur and science museum. They had some good history of dinosaur tracks and fossils found in Alaska and else where. They have some space history and displays. They also have some good animals of Alaska exhibits. Part is geared toward kids, part toward adults. There were some small hands on exhibits. Depending on how involved you get with displays, plan on 1 to 2 hours. Ours was the only group there at this midweek time.

Super cute place to take children! It's small but reasonably priced for what they offer with a friendly staff and nice gift shop.

Smaller than I thought it would be, but they have a lot in there. Nicely labeled and friendly staff.

A very fun museum! Expect to spend about an hour or two here depending on your interest. Great for the littles. Lots of bones / fossils/ replicas and a cute little gift shop. An area for younger kids to sit and play. A small museum with easy parking and a restroom.

Yelp
There are a a lot of cool specimens a here but it's a little unusual, too. There are taxidermed animals that are not from Alaska at all, and a series of molds of humanoid bones that mark evolutionary diversions through the millennia. --It was definitely interesting but could probably be laid out in a more cohesive way. I guess I'd say: go here with the understanding that you will see a lot of unique artifacts and animals. However, you might not be able to see how they are related/connected to one another... because, really, they're not.

Yelp
I wanted to get the little one out of the house. We looked up museums and remembered this one was close to us. He loves dinosaurs, so why not. Let him learn a little history and have fun at the same time. The price is just right, $8 for adults and i think it was $6 for kids. We walked in and the gift shop is to the right, you know that's where he went first lol. We got him to walk around and he was so excited to see bones, artifacts, and some planets he knew already. We took lots of pictures on his adventures today and we got some great shots. He ended it in the play area we're he built puzzles, dug for bones and took a picture as a astronaut. That was the coolest part for him. Thinking of getting a membership so we have a regular place to take him on the weekends.

Yelp
For the price to experience ratios it's definitely worth it. It's a great opportunity for kids to learn about animal history. They also have interactive worksheets to give the kids some joy out of the experience.

Yelp
For only $8 an adult, fun date, the outside we were skeptical with how small the building seemed but there's so much inside, lots of hands on activities too you can touch fossils and rocks. Great learning experience.

Yelp
Great little museum; We opted to go here instead of the Anchorage Museum. This place is great for animal lovers, or anyone looking for a short visit. We were there about an hour and saw mostly everything. Very reasonable entry fee and cute gift shop...The location is convenient and it wasn't crowded, which was nice. All the dinosaurs and animals were wearing Halloween decorations LOL..a true highlight.

Yelp
My son and I needed to kill some time and it was a chilly outside. This is a fantastic museum for young kids, my son almost 7. We had a great time looking at everything and doing a scavenger hunt. It's small. 2 hours is plenty. Must be in the mood to read and learn. Great experience.

Yelp
This is a small but interesting place to visit especially for children. Went here with my grandson who likes dinosaurs. They have dinosaur skeletons and interactive exhibits. One of his favorite places was "digging" for fossils, a place where kids can dig in the said and find "fossils" It is more of a place for kids than adults but if you have young kids that like dinosaurs, this is a great place to go.

Yelp
Everyone touring Alaska should definitely take a moment and tour this museum. The dances where amazing, and tons of photo opportunities. I walked away with a greater appreciation for all the Alaskan tribes, and cultures. Worth every penny!

Yelp
Often overlooked, The Alaska Museum of Natural History is a great place for families and others interested in exploring the wold past (ancient and more recent) of Alaska. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, prices are affordable. Lots to do for kids.
