Are Mail-Order Meal Kits Doomed? | Eater

Pissed doesn't even began to explain... the 7 minutes the officer spent arguing with customers we could have made our purchases. There is an occurrence that i was able to record finally every 1st of the month. I assume because cashiers are overwhelmed by government assistance sales they lock the doors at 9:40 and it is unfair. It only occurs when stamps and benefits are released. I can go on the 26th of any month and walk in at 9:55 no problem. (IF I EVER GO THIS LATE ITS TO GRAB ONE ITEM) But 20 minutes before close denying customers is unacceptable!

Lauren with Albertson’s Drive & Go is so insanely thoughtful and diligent. I called regarding a specification to my order and she went above and beyond to ensure it was fulfilled. She called me multiple times to let me know she was doing everything she could and she delivered. It was so heartwarming that a worker went so far out of her way for such a simple request!

In town from out of state and went shopping. I needed an item that was locked. I asked a nice lady if she could help. She paged to have someone come help. I waited and after about 10 minutes I approached the lady again and she was surprised no one had come helped me. She went again and paged a manager with a key. The lady comes back and says manager does not have a key to it. There are many items in the store that are locked, so how are you going to sale those items without a key? Left what I had in my shopping cart and left the store.

Store is always clean. Customer service was on point. I really didn't do any shopping this time but I always have a good experience when going there.

Let’s just say if the workers are having a personal conversation… even if it takes them 5 minutes you will be left standing there until they remember they are at work, customer service skills 👎🏽 especially the seafood department

Google
This is a nice Albertsons. Their floral department is excellent. They have all the basics with a lot of variety, and the occasional surprise, like Pumpkin Pie Almonds.

Yelp
Some things to note --- 1. Be careful in the parking lot. While there is a guard at the door most of the time, you are very likely to be approached by someone asking for money. 2. Staff is consistently VERY friendly. They have been for years, and I love that. I have never heard or seen any workers speaking poorly, ignoring people, or just standing around. They are lovely. At least this has been my experience the past several years. 3. The wine and liquor department is large with a big variety. 4. Check expiration dates on things. I usually do, but I got home with some items recently, and some of the cheese was expired and a prepared dish had mold. 5. Grab a buggy while you're in the parking lot. They're usually not picked up frequently.

Yelp
The shelves are empty most of the time. It is not consistent in what they carry. It pales to the Albertsons on College Drive.

Yelp
The quality of merchandise and service at this location is excellent! Drive up and go service is the best! There are not many grocery stores around where the employees are intentional and genuine in their effort to serve patrons. The meats, vegetables and fruits are fresh and packed neatly. Any issue I have had was handled quickly and easy online. The customer service is outstanding. Not as important but important they don't charge you for the bags that you purchase their products in. The most important thing to know about this location is the deals and savings are really deals and savings and the merchandise is really there not "I am sorry ma'am we out of that"

Yelp
If I'd have to choose a word to describe this store it would be malaise. The employees are suffering from do-not-care-itis and I'm in it for the paycheck only and they are only going through the v motions. Too many sections of shelves are empty, The c store is dirty and when u walked in it smelled like old fish.

Yelp
The ceiling needs to be repaired ASAP! It looks disgusting and horror of horrors, water dripped all over me as I was going down the pizza aisle. Boudin selection is sorely lacking. Who decided the layout, because it's horrible. In all my days, I've never been in a store more disorganized with aisle labeling. The ONLY thing giving them my 3 stars was the seafood department. The seafood is perfectly steamed and seasoned.

Yelp
I went to purchase a birthday cake for my daughter around 4pm... the bakery was closed so I asked a worker that was stocking the cheese if I could get a cake off of display & she said with a very nasty attitude basically she's not doing it so ask customer service if I really want it... the grocery manager came ( I understand he works in grocery )... but it just was unpleasant... rude... even the dark skin lady with the braids & fake contacts that checked me out was rude & yelling across the store because I wasn't moving fast enough for her to come to register 3. The whole place is a mess. I wouldn't recommend bringing your pet fish there.

Yelp
The customer service here is horrible!! So rude. The store was a mess when we went. Stuff spilled on the floor, and crap all out in the aisles. When we went to check out, the cashier was more into chatting it up with other people than to actually pay attention to what she was doing. Won't be coming back.

Darby B.

Yelp
I called and their customer service representative said they had uncrustables, after spending my and my buddy's time driving and searching for the uncrustables we found there were none. Very disappointed. one star.

Yelp
Disappointed today when I went in for the buy 1/get 2 free meat special. Used to survive on this meat special and all of the other specials in the store. The "special" has obviously been modified a great deal. All of the meat and chicken is in the same bin and marked for the special. It seems now that you have to get three "matching items" for the special to apply. Never had to do that in the past. Pork is pork right? That was $35 I could have given Winn Dixie for some more tasty sale priced rib eyes... Boo Albertsons.

Yelp
Let me paint a picture for you. Christmas Eve 2017. My sisters house in Baton Rouge. Family in from out of town, people coming in that evening and the next day. Sister is a regular at the Costco and thought she had gotten everything. WRONG! Off I go to the Albertsons, as this was the closest grocery to her house with a list of specific items to retrieve. Certain items were out, but a quick picture of the items that were still in stock, and I was able to get exactly what was needed. In the middle of the day, the day before a major holiday, there was next to no customers. But there was also next to no employees to answer questions as I had several customers ask me if I knew where something was. Really? Aisles not labeled clearly enough to where items could not be found? Everything was neat and clean, checkout was quick. Things were a bit disorganized. Oh well. I was able to get what was needed.

Yelp
I'm currently the Duke of this Albertson's, so I suppose it's only right that I leave a review. Now, I've read the other reviews and I can't say that they're wrong, but I will give you MY take on this particular store. I'm splitting the difference between the best and worst reviews by giving it 3 stars (which technically is referred to as A-OK, so it's not bad to get 3). Chicken prices are out of this world. Whole chickens for under $5. Drums/thighs for less than $1/lb. Keep an eye out for the wings to go on sale for $0.98/lb. No one else in town sells them that cheaply. I fashion myself a wing-ficianado so I buy as much as I can carry when they finally go on sale. The produce isn't terrible. It's no Fresh Market or Whole Foods, but I can always find produce to my liking here. Prices are never great though. For great prices and fresh pickins...go to Fresh Pickin's or Southside Produce. Not a huge steak selection, plenty of pork and chicken though. Maxwell's Market always provided me with my Date Night steaks. Great prices on wine and liquor, and a dandy selection. They've even started a mix your own 6 pack station so you can create your own dank beer collection. The fresh meat/seafood dept always smells a little too fishy for my tastes, but there always a LOT of people waiting in line, so I know the product isn't sitting there too too long. Checkout: They have old school rotating counters and you feed your cart behind the cashier and he/she fills the basket as they bag/ring. Quite convenient. As stated in another review, I've only been blessed with friendly people here. Some may be quieter than others, but never has anyone offend or upset me. On the contrary, I usually leave with a smile on my face. In Summary: This place isn't THAT bad. I go all the time b/c it's by my house. I pass Calandro's to get there. Just don't go to Whole Foods and then immediately go to Albertson's. It will really depress you. I mean, really really.

Yelp
My go-to grocery store only due to its proximity to my house. There are no redeeming qualities about this place other than that. The layout is terrible. The produce is past its prime. The prices are too high. And the employees are rather unhelpful. An example - I was making hummus and needed a can of tahini. Its like peanut butter made of sesame seeds. Me: "Do y'all have tahini?" Employee: "Excuse me?! Do I have to WHAT??" Me: "Nevermind." Turns out they did NOT have tahini. Off to Whole Foods I went. Also, I saw a HUGE rat just chillin' outside by the drink machines.

Yelp
Best worst supermarket ever. If you walk through the front doors of Albertson's, know that there will be a period of two to ten minutes at the checkout when you are standing on line and nothing is happening and no one seems to be doing anything about it. During this period, you can learn all about the latest travails of Brad and Angelina by reading the magazine headlines. Don't think you can avoid this checkout wait by checking out your own stuff, because an item won't scan right and/or you'll buy alcohol, but the designated employee is off somewhere back by the fish department. The produce here is reliably bad. I don't think I've ever seen mushrooms for sale at this Albertson's that were not questionable or had visibly turned the corner. The peppers have typically lost all crunch and are softer than tomatoes. But at least there are 3-5 birds flying over it all, so it's kind of like you're buying them from a farm (except not). On the plus side, this Albertson's has a lot of clearance sales. Lucky for me, organic goods must not sell well at this store, so I often get them cheap. They also have a lot more organic products than they did just a few years ago.

Yelp
Stopped here cause we are on vacation and needed groceries. Went to the meat market & smelled mold but couldn't find what is was until my mom looked up and saw the ground meat was spoiled. told lyndale, who was awesome, to get us a manger Rick; horrible demeanor & bad communication skills. we ended up leaving cause I didn't trust their meat.

Yelp
I went to Albertsons to buy groceries last week. I just started working in the area and it was convenient to stop there, I usually go to Winn Dixie for my regular shopping. The store was a mess when I first walked in, there was trash on the floor throughout the whole store and in all the buggies. The prices were high so I only bought about half of what I needed. There were multiple products that I didn't notice until I got home were expired. I purchased pepperoni that had been expired for a week and a jar of pickles that had been expired since April. It was September at the time of purchase. I ended up throwing them away. I told my mom about the expired products and she said the Albertsons by her house has the same issue that's why she doesn't shop there. From now on I will drive farther and continue go to Winn Dixie.

Yelp
I have shopped at this grocery for 8 years and I am always treated well. The seafood and meat market and pharmacy are especially nice to work with.

Yelp
About two weeks ago I was here and heard/witnessed an old man yelling at the top of his lungs at a woman at the service desk: "You have a bad attitude!" Amen.

Caitlin W.

Yelp
I just want to say this place has the rudest employees I've ever encountered grocery store wise. Today is the last day I will EVER shop here because I'm so SICK of the way I get treated when I come here. I live literally behind the building so the fact that I'm willing to get in my car and drive to a different store instead of walking right next door should say a lot. I always make it a point to be kind to everyone and I refuse to subject myself to ugly attitudes. So much for making the place look better.

Yelp
Great location and great prices! Albertson's is a place where you can go to get great priced groceries and not have to fight the long check-out lines. They always have everything I need, and I usually can get in and out pretty quickly. They also have a monopoly game going on right now, and you can win a lot of cool stuff!!

Yelp
Didn't know being this bad could actually happen. By far, worst grocery store chain I've ever seen. Produce is always either out of stock (but still being advertised), rotten, or bruised as if it had been in a cage match. Like most people that shop at Albertsons, the only reason we do is due to proximity from our home in Spanish Town. On numerous occasions, we have purchased bagels that have expired a week beforehand. "Fresh baked bread BAKED TODAY!" with mold growing on it. It really is the epitome of laziness. The one reason why this place gets a star from me is because of the cashier staff. They are incredibly friendly, helpful, and always give my two year old treats and compliments. I have written numerous letters to Albertson's headquarters and nothing had changed. I'm actually not writing this review out of anger. I have quit shopping there and travel an extra 6 miles to a different grocery chain. I am writing this because I think other people should know. Especially other people that I know and care about in the mid-city community.

Yelp
I used to shop at this store all the time, at least once a week. The employees are always friendly and efficient. It's usually stocked pretty well, though the produce could use some variation from time to time. Why it only gets two stars is the store director's refusal to install bicycle parking for customers who ride bikes. People end up chaining their bikes to the propane cage, the water cooler bottle cage, the "no-parking" sign or other stuff that isn't a bike rack. People even wheel them inside. I and many others have requested racks be installed many times; the store director, for whatever reason, simply won't do it, despite always claiming he's "on it." It is certainly indicative of poor customer service. A store's director should realize that spending the small sum of $ accommodating customers' needs is in the store's best interests, as it will be good for business ultimately. However, apathy or laziness has thus far prevailed. I'll continue to go down the street to Calandro's (where the employees are rude, the prices are higher and the selection is limited) because at least they installed bike racks.

Yelp
Went in at lunch to pick up a few items. The store was clean and had a flavorful aroma coming from the deli. I purchased the lobster that was on sale. Checkout didn't take all day and the cashier was courteous. Will return soon.

A N.

Yelp
Due to a new schedule no supervisor is available before 8am-the front staff to care of my needs and adjusted the price according to the sales paper. Great staff!!!!!!

jamie b.

Yelp
If I could, I would give this location NO stars. Most horrible place to shop, ever! Rude, lazy employees, horrible produce!

Kalua L.

Yelp
Baton Rouge: Worst customer service ever. It was my first visit to Albertson's on Government and my last. I purchased a salad and various other things on my lunch break. When I got to the cash register I asked the cashier for the location of the forks and she harshly said, "Back where you came from!" "Uh, okay, could you tell me the general vicinity?" "Back where you came from!!!!!" She bellowed. I asked her if everyone who worked there is as rude as she is and she glared at me and left the register. Behind me were a soldier, an elderly lady and another lady who told her that she thought that she was being rude to. I asked for the manager. After a few minutes he ambled over and heard what happened which was collaborated by the people behind me...still waiting to be checked out by the way and then he beckons her over. She finally checks me out. The manager just walked away like it was no big deal and didn't even apologize so I called their corporate office. Judging from the attitude of the manager they won't be doing anything. I'm never going there again and I suggest that you avoid it as well.
