I'm currently the Duke of this Albertson's, so I suppose it's only right that I leave a review. Now, I've read the other reviews and I can't say that they're wrong, but I will give you MY take on this particular store. I'm splitting the difference between the best and worst reviews by giving it 3 stars (which technically is referred to as A-OK, so it's not bad to get 3).
Chicken prices are out of this world. Whole chickens for under $5. Drums/thighs for less than $1/lb. Keep an eye out for the wings to go on sale for $0.98/lb. No one else in town sells them that cheaply. I fashion myself a wing-ficianado so I buy as much as I can carry when they finally go on sale.
The produce isn't terrible. It's no Fresh Market or Whole Foods, but I can always find produce to my liking here. Prices are never great though. For great prices and fresh pickins...go to Fresh Pickin's or Southside Produce.
Not a huge steak selection, plenty of pork and chicken though. Maxwell's Market always provided me with my Date Night steaks.
Great prices on wine and liquor, and a dandy selection. They've even started a mix your own 6 pack station so you can create your own dank beer collection.
The fresh meat/seafood dept always smells a little too fishy for my tastes, but there always a LOT of people waiting in line, so I know the product isn't sitting there too too long.
Checkout: They have old school rotating counters and you feed your cart behind the cashier and he/she fills the basket as they bag/ring. Quite convenient. As stated in another review, I've only been blessed with friendly people here. Some may be quieter than others, but never has anyone offend or upset me. On the contrary, I usually leave with a smile on my face.
In Summary: This place isn't THAT bad. I go all the time b/c it's by my house. I pass Calandro's to get there. Just don't go to Whole Foods and then immediately go to Albertson's. It will really depress you. I mean, really really.
