Albina Press Owner Kevin Fuller, Longtime Portland Coffee Maven, Has Died | Eater Portland

"Opened in North Portland in 2004 during the rise of the third-wave coffee movement, Albina Press became a neighborhood standby with a limited digital presence and a reputation for responsible sourcing and meticulous barista work; it developed national buzz—from New York Times name-drops to coffee competition medals—expanded to locations in Vancouver and Hawthorne, and operated under Kevin Fuller for 16 years, during which several prominent Oregon baristas (including Billy Wilson and Matt Higgins) worked there. Colleagues and former employees credit Fuller’s uncompromising vision for quality—Matt Higgins called it “the best coffee shop in Portland during the third wave” and said Fuller insisted that nothing short of excellence would come across the bar—and remember him as a private but devoted mentor who took pride in seeing staff go on to open and succeed in their own ventures." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Such a cute coffee shop. Coffee is great and they have amazing selection of pastries. I also love all the different spaces to sit down and enjoy your coffee or to sit down and study. Feels really roomy and cozy and a lot of cool things to look at. Like art and coffee cups for sale. This is my new study and coffee spot from now on. Baristas are so friendly and welcoming.

Such incredible coffee options and delicious baked goods In a comfortable and charming neighborhood snuggle space. This continues to remain one of the better coffee shops in Portland. They have outdoor seating here for people who just wanna catch up with good friends and be outside. They also have wonderful spots and to relax and connect.

It's a good local café with a nice selection of both savory and sweet pastries, as well as great quality coffee. I appreciate how early it is open though it can get slow during earlier hours at times if due to lack of morning staff but it's understandable. I like the comfortable and sleek atmosphere of the interior and it's a cozy place to hang out.

Great neighborhood cafe right at the end of the Hawthorne Strip. It feels out of the way while still being easy to reach. Their bakery goods rotate. No gluten free options.

delicious coffee and bagels. excellent atmosphere to take out your laptop and work. I love that they share the talent of local artists on their walls. The staff is always very kind and friendly.

Lots of space, good coffee, good service! Good place to work on your laptop. I wish their pastries etc were better, but this place still shines as one of my favorite coffee shops.

Kudos for opening early everyday! I love to see them already open for a new day on my run to Tabor even in those dark early winter mornings. The store has a spacious interior space (though closed for now) and a nice parklet outside. Decent coffee and selection of pastries and baked goods.

Best coffees in PDX. Some review earlier wasn't happy with the food. Its true they only have pastries. But dogs are allowed and I think you can't mix dogs and kitchen food. This is a great neighborhood coffee shop with world clas baristas. I recommend it.
