Everything was great! Get the strip steak, you won’t be disappointed. My favorite part was the rose drink, it had a real rose in it. Also, peep the fresh herbs growing right when you walk in. Our waitress told us that they change the menu based on what is fresh and in season frequently. I can’t wait to see what else is in store. Parking can be rough as it is on Main Street but there is a garage not far that is very inexpensive.

Google
Nice upscale dining experience in Royal Oak. Great atmosphere, nice drink list and the food was outstanding. Have an affordable pre fixe menu if you want three courses (I had the Seafood Feast). Met the chef/ owner Johnny who likes to come by our front and check on his guests.

Google
Great restaurant overall! unfortunately we attended to celebrate a birthday but only the hostess received that information. i guess it’s luck of the draw if you have a good server . we would have spent $100 more on drinks if our server tried a little bit to get us to stay and enjoy the night maybe explore more of the menu but i digress. overall, worth a stop and there’s free 2 hour parking a block away.

Pro. The food was fantastic. My waitress was great and patient. I love the atmosphere. I got a nice experience with the drinks I order. It just wasn't very strong. Food... You pay for what you get and it's quality. I can't say the same for the drinks. Con. Drinks are expensive and I had better. It's downtown Royal oak. So parking sucks. Even tho the food was great it was expensive. Just have some money if you decide to go come here.

Google
Best brunch I've had in years! (Best sausage gravy I've had in my life). Johnny is such an incredible chef, and the staff is perfect to match. What a lovely experience! I genuinely can't wait to return. We got the french toast and the chicken and waffles. We also tried a cold brew cocktail and a delicious mimosa... (or two). Don't wait, go now!

I stopped in for a quick cocktail and appetizer before a show with a friend, and I will definitely be back again! Food/Drinks: I got the "The Rainforest" and my friend ordered the "Old Smokey" Old Fashion. Both drinks were well-crafted, balanced and delicious. I ordered the Thai Street Ribs small plate and my friend ordered the bacon wrapped dates. We both enjoyed the dishes, and I was impressed by the amount of meat and how filling the Thai Street Ribs were for a small plate of 4 ribs. For the cocktail and small plate, I spent about $40 before tip. Atmosphere: The shelves of drinks behind the bar made a really pretty backdrop. Inside, the lighting was low and it was quiet, which made for a peaceful night out experience. Nice place to go for a date night, girls night or fancy dinner. It felt upscale and modern, but done in a warm way. Service: The lady who served us at the bar was kind, attentive and knowledgeable.

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner and so glad we picked this restaurant over others we were looking at! I got the last rose as a drink - super strong but good taste regardless. The gruyere spread appetizer was phenomenal as well as our entree (waygu beef strudel and NY strip). Our server was attentive and so friendly as well!

Stopped in for some drinks and a quick bite towards the end of the night Saturday, Alchemi totally fulfilled our little date. Crow was our bartender, they were great with both drinks and conversation. All the other staff were really nice and pleasant as well! It was a smaller "late night" menu after 10:30p, food was delicious. The street ribs were arguably not a great cut, lots of cartilage, but SO tasty and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Cleaned my plate. Will likely be returning.

Yelp
This dinner was not a meal but an experience!! Bobby was a great waiter. We started with one of their mocktails with cucumber, rosemary and elderberry. It tasted like summer in a glass. My partner ordered an old fashioned. The smoke smelled just like a campfire. We had bacon wrapped dates, Gruyère cheese spread with homemade focaccia, tikki chicken and beef strudel. Every bite was heaven in our mouths. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
First time coming to Alchemi last Saturday night and had a reservation at 7:30pm. Took a few minutes to be greeted by the host but was quickly seated. Unfortunately our waiter took a bit to greet us but did take our drink orders. I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or what happened this evening but pretty much everything we ordered took forever to get to us which is the reason for losing a star on the rating. I don't believe it was our waiters fault as all the drinks were fresh and the food was hot when it arrived. Aside from that issue, everything we tasted at Alchemi was phenomenal. We started out with a few cocktails and the crab and shrimp cakes and immediately knew this was going to be a delicious evening. The cakes were so soft and melt-in-your-mouth flavorful! We ordered the salmon and NY strip for our entrees and were pleasantly surprised at just how amazing they were! The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned and had just a hint of spice. It was wonderful! I had the NY strip and I have to say it was definitely up there in the top steaks I've had at a restaurant. The crust on the steak was amazing but perfectly cooked medium rare inside....and the chimichurri!!! To. Die. For. The smashed potatoes were also mouth-watering! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of were the veggies but that absolutely did not matter lol Last, we had the crème brûlée which had a perfect crust to crack and was delightful! Overall highly recommend. The restaurant was small but mighty with its dark atmosphere. Nice music that isn't too loud and very sweet staff. When we tried to order the French press coffee, our waiter wouldn't let us because they ran out of the beans and the press they ordered was not the right one. He flat out said, "no," when we ordered but then proceeded to explain he couldn't in good conscience charge us for that when all they had was Folgers! Good man :)

Yelp
This is the 2nd time I've been here. The food is excellent and imaginative. The farmers salad was excellent. So were the crab and shrimp cakes. I would have been happy with an entree size of them! The rib appetizer was good. For my main I got the wagyu beef strudel which was good. I love the ambience of the restaurant. The only thing I have a complaint about is the drink prices. $17 for a very small drink (yes it looks pretty but 4 sips later its done).

Yelp
Very nice and intimate experience for a Saturday night. Street parking was easy to find. As soon as you walk in, there are freshly grown plants and garnish used in dishes. We had reservations but shockingly it wasn't crazy crowded. Our waiter was polite but unfortunately they all looked short staffed and tired. Our appetizers and entrees were really delightful. The Thai rib meat melts in your mouth. We both finished our plates to say the least!

Yelp
Came last week with some friends! I got the lamb chops which were okay. They were cooked well and the potatoes were good but the sauce was very sweet. The menu also had it listed served with pasta not potatoes and it only came with 3 Brussels sprouts and 2 small pieces of carrots so more veggies would of been better. My friends enjoyed their meals of the ragú and the wagyu beef strudel which was very small

Yelp
The establishment was really beautiful! The service A1, the food was really good accept the seafood dish, it was bland had zero flavor. I suggest adding some pizzazz aka seasoning to the dish, bring it to life. The owner is involved and introduces himself which I really appreciated. Downstairs is the entertainment.
google avatar

Abhilash T.

Yelp
I would consider this more a place for drinks than food. We got the fancy cheese dip and Thai street ribs for starters. The cheese was too fancy and kinda bland. But the ribs were excellent. All their craft cocktails tasted fresh and each one was worth trying. Dwight's temptation was by far my favorite. For main courses, I got the wagyu beef strudel. It's delicious! The other dishes on the table were the lobster shrimp pad Thai- very plain, lamb ragu- absolutely no flavor, not sure what happened here, and the chicken tikka- the rice it comes with was without any seasoning but the chicken tikka and the flatbread it came with were very good. And I can't leave this review without telling you how amazing the crème brûlée was; I can't do it justice, just get it. It's exquisite. Overall, it's a beautiful restaurant with very attentive service. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food was a very ambitious menu, drink menu is also top of the line. Servers are professional and take care of you. Reminds me of an old dinner, but super upscale. A bit pricey, special occasion kind of place.

Yelp
The inside of the restaurant is sooo beautiful! The staff is beyond welcoming and friendly! Hunter was always making sure we had what we wanted and needed and gave us great recommendations too! Chef Johnny is so talented and even walked table to table to ask how everything tasted! The chimichurri on the strip was the best I've ever tasted! Everything is farm to table too which we love! The pad Thai was tasty and the streusel had such a nice cook to it! We also finished off with a cheesecake! It wasn't anything that was a must have, but was a sweet way to end the night!

Yelp
4.5/5 so I'll round up to 5 stars. Alchemi had been on my list to try for a while, and I found myself in Royal Oak on a Friday night. I had checked earlier in the day and surprisingly they had a ton of reservations slots still open, so I snagged a 7pm one. I think we arrived maybe 15 minutes early and they were still able to seat us. I had a rum drink which was very good, it kind of tasted like orange juice. My boyfriend had the smoked Old Fashioned and was very impressed by it. We started off with the Thai spare ribs and these were also very good, albeit a bit pricey. I had the chimichurri steak for my meal and my boyfriend had the salmon with curry sauce; mine was excellent and he said his was really good too. He also had the Corpse Reviver drink, which had really cool presentation, and the Madagascar Express martini. For dessert we shared the cherry creme brulee which was also delicious. The only reason Alchemi gets 4.5 from me and not 5 is because our waiter got very busy with other tables, and water refills became a little more scarce, about halfway to three-quarters into the meal. This is the former Mr. B's location, also, and I was impressed with the way they renovated it. I'll definitely be back at some point, as all of the food was great.

Yelp
Stopped in to Alchemi for a late evening date night! I would definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for inventive cocktails. This was the first time I've gone to a place and actually enjoyed a signature whiskey drink so that's saying something. The food was alright- not my personal favorite but I did love the appetizers. This might be a better spot for drinks and a few small bites v a sit down meal. I did love the gruyere appetizer with toasted bread though. Service was great and the staff were kind as well.

Yelp
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner here last weekend and had a wonderful experience. The food was very good (pad Thai and salmon) and our waiter was excellent and even brought us a complementary dessert cherry crème brule.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was simple but delicious! Drinks were visually confusing in a good way! Ambiance was soothing and the other side was comfy and ready for an intimate conversation! No complaints on the service! Their bar was amazing and fully stocked with the unimaginable!

Yelp
We mistakenly went here, but glad we did! Food was great and drinks were creative. One was on fire!

Yelp
Full disclosure, I made reservations for Johnny's Speakeasy and ended up at Alchemi by accident. They share the same address and we somehow didn't get that we were in the wrong restaurant. Anyways, it was my bf's 60th bday and I wanted to take him somewhere nice. Luckily this worked out for us. It was a Thursday night so the place was only about 20% full, not sure what it's like on the weekends. After checking out the menu and asking a few questions the waitress told us the 3 course Wagyu meal was enough to split between us. We did that and added an order of the medjool dates. We got Thai Street ribs, side salad & Wagyu beef strudel. We enjoyed everything, but nothing was exceptional. The salad was really nice with lots of items on it and we really liked the dressing. The Wagyu strudel was good but tasted like basic roast beef rolled up in puff pastry. I was hoping for something more exciting. Service was generally good - but our waitress didn't get back to us in a timely manner between courses leaving us without silverware at one point and no plates to put our food on. We asked for a few things and she said ok, then we watched her stop off at other tables and basically forget about us, then we'd have to flag her down again. I got the mother of dragon drink. Tasty but Small and Expensive! I followed that up with a red wine. Bf got a bourbon. So good meal, we're happy we went, but will look for other places for our next celebration.

Yelp
Drinks were good and very cool presentation. Thai ribs were amazing, salmon was great, lamb ragu was pretty good - needed more sauce. The service is always very friendly and helpful here with questions on the menu. I've been back here twice now and I buoy the variety on the menu to get something different every time. Highly highly recommend.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 7:30 on a Thursday. They were not busy but not slow either. I got seated right away and the man was our server as well. He was very knowledgeable about the drink menu and helped my friend choose a "pretty" drink which was what she was looking for. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious so we wanted a bit of everything. I contemplated between the pad Thai and the cioppono. Since I decided on the latter, it was a better deal for me to get the seafood lovers since I knew I wanted a salad or app with it. I don't typically order crab cakes but they were wonderful! I loved the aioli as well. The calamari salad came and had a curry vinaigrette. I really have never had anything like it in a very good way! It was light, crisp and I loved the presentation. Also, the calamari on it was just like any fried calamari app but still very good. The cioppino is as actually a lot lighter than I thought it would be which was great because I was starting to feel full. All of the seafood was huge which I loved because you don't get this large of seafood often. Everything about it was excellent. My friend enjoyed hers as well. She got the other salad, Gruyère dip and Thai ribs! She enjoyed all of hers as well. The whole time we wondered what this used to be. It was Mr. B's which brought back many memories. They did an amazing job with the decor here. I think it would be a great date night spot, girls night, or even a birthday. I saw a few birthdays and they bring out a sparkler with it.

Yelp
Drinks were delicious, the food menu is incredible! Service was nice except the guy lacked eye contact.

Yelp
Most amazing meal and cocktails I have had in years!!!!! Try everything. The crème brûlée is to die for and worth every penny. Service and staff are exquisite. A place and a meal not to be missed!

Yelp
Ordered sushi and oysters. Oysters were great and so was the sushi. Server was super friendly and gladly answered all our questions. The ambiance is chill and casual, but still nice. Would definitely come back here.

Yelp
I recently tried this restaurant and have to say I am overall disappointed. The service and ambiance were both wonderful. Our waitress was new and still learning the menu, but was very attentive and welcoming. However, the food left a lot to be desired. For starters, we chose to order the gruyere spread and thai street ribs. I was a bit offput by the texture of the spread. It had almost finely chopped pieces of cheese and there was almost a vinegar taste to the spread. The focaccia it was served with was very light and airy, but I ended up eating this alone. The thai street ribs were decent. I am not the biggest fan of ribs but I could tell this was cooked well, the meat easily fell off the bone and the sauce and mint garnishings added a great touch. As for mains, we chose the lobster and shrimp pad thai and wagyu beef strudel. The sauce for the pad thai reminded me of a store-bought sauce with a strong vinegar and overly sweet taste. The shrimp were cooked well and came with a large portion. However, I was not a fan of the lobster side. There was a very strong fishy smell to the lobster and it was overcooked and served cold over the hot dish. As for the wagyu dish, I wish this had been served alone without the strudel. The meat itself was very tender and flavorful, but the puff pastry was undercooked and very doughy, which left the middle of the dish soggy.

Yelp
Food was interesting but as dramatically tasteful as the creativity of the dishes. Would go again to try some of the different creative dishes.

Yelp
My friends suggested taking me to Alchemi for an early birthday dinner and I loved it! We made a reservation, which I'd highly recommend because it was packed. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer but she was clearly overworked - they didn't appear to have enough wait staff for the night (which I recognize is a problem pretty much everywhere right now). But once we did finally get our drinks and food, we really enjoyed everything. The cocktails are overpriced by about $3-4 but they were fun to try - the first one I got was called Peaky Blinders and they light the marshmallows on fire at the table, which was a nice touch. For food, we started with the Cevapi and Chevre Stuffed Dates, which were both delicious. I got the Chu Chee Salmon for my entree and couldn't have been happier. It was cooked perfectly, and the coconut curry sauce with the apple slaw and saffron rice were just *Mwah! Chef's kiss*. And speaking of chefs, Johnny even stopped by our table to ask how our meal was, which I thought was very classy. To top it all off, they brought out a complimentary creme brulee with a huge sparkler for my birthday. All in all, we had a great time at Alchemi.

Yelp
Went here since they take reservations - that's getting to be the top way I pick restaurants in this post-pandemic world. Food was pretty good. We ordered the Gruyere Cheese bread which was surprisingly good. I had the lamb ragu which I highly recommend. The addition of toasted pine nuts gave the dish a little more texture than normal which I liked. My wife got the Pad Thai which had a very strange siracha-based sauce on it that dominated the dish. Not recommended unless that's your thing. Service was friendly but spotty. We were sitting outside at the table farthest from the door and our waiter seemed to forget about us most of the time.
google avatar

Joy A.

Yelp
First time here. Everything was excellent. Unique drinks (strong too), delicious food, great service, cool vibe. I declared it my new favorite restaurant.

Karoline K.

Yelp
Would likely not try it again, the service was good but the food was so mediocre. Prices are on the higher end but the food doesn't match what they charge. I am always down to pay for great food and pay a good chunk of change at that, but the food here just wasn't even what I would consider good. It was just so so. We had the thai ribs and burrata and bread to start. Was fine but bland. The ragu and tikka were also just meh. At $35 an entree, I want it to be at least good. The flavors were off. I also kept getting a horrible whiff of seafood from a table near us. While this restaurant does serve seafood, anyone who knows seafood knows that there is a really distinctly fishy smell that comes from not so fresh or improperly stored and prepared seafood and that was the smell I was getting. I would skip their seafood dishes given this. Drinks were good, they seem to be trying a little too hard with the presentation but they tasted good. Overpriced and overhyped, would skip this one in lieu of other similarly priced restaurants with better food. If you just come for drinks I think you would be okay.

Yelp
The Michigan Lamb Ragu @alchemiroyaloak is not to be missed! Homemade pappardelle loaded with delicious lamb should ragu, tossed with parmigiano reggiano, pine nuts & argula. Other great options include: Chicken Tikka - shuck be thighs simmered in a rich curry sauce served with flat bread & saffron rice Chee Chee Salmon - poached in red curry coconut sauce, topped with green apple slaw on top of saffron rice Thai Street Ribs - smoky & crispy with a tangy Thai sauce Cocktails were great too! Basil Smash, Smokey Old Fashioned & Corpse Reviver. Cool presentation for the last 2! Meatballs, lamb and pad Thai were just ok. Nice farm to table restaurant. Reservations recommended.

Yelp
The long and short of it: the food was great. The service and overall experience was not. The Good: The food was great! Our waitress recommended the smothered burnt ends as an appetizer and it was a fabulous recommendation. They come with crispy onions and it's a delicious blend of flavors. My boyfriend got the chicken tikka and I had the lobster and shrimp pad Thai. Both were highly recommended from reviews and flavorful. I was very happy with the quality of our meals. The Bad: I came here for a belated Valentine's Day celebration and made a reservation. They were most definitely understaffed, with 2 people working the floor. We were originally seated in a dark corner that was not underneath a light and asked to be moved. The host switched us to a table that was near light, but we had to wait about 10 minutes to do so. It took almost 45 min to even get water, and in total about 90 minutes from being seated at our new table to receiving our meals. I understand that they were understaffed with a full house, but it really soured the experience. I'd be open to going back, but sincerely hope they have more staff to make it an easier experience.
google avatar

Allyson M.

Yelp
I've been to Alchemi twice now and every dish has been spot on. Service has been wonderful - our server, Miles, was ready to answer questions and made great suggestions. They often have reservations available, so it's a great spot for even a last minute meal (although I'm shocked they haven't been busier!). I'm not kidding when I say every dish I've tried has been amazing. I've had the Gruyère spread, burnt ends, cevapi, and Thai street ribs appetizers. I'd recommend every single one! I've also had the lamb chops, ragu, pad Thai, and chicken tikka. My favorites have been the pad Thai and the ragu, but really - you can't go wrong! The creme brûlée is definitely my favorite dessert. It is one of the best I've had! Great cocktail selection. Beautiful presentation of both food and drinks. Get yourself a reservation!
google avatar

Reena K.

Yelp
Unfortunately this restaurant leaves much to be desired. The ambiance is trashy as is the crowd that it attracts. The service is nonexistent. We were seated at the first table behind the hostess - very easy for the wait staff to see we at least needed water. After almost 40 minutes of waiting at our table, my sister had to go up to the bartender to ask for water and drinks. The bartender had to ask a waitress to come over to our table. This was the waitress that was giving us a blank stare every time she circled our table. Now let's discuss the food and drinks - nice try, but unfortunately just trying too hard and doesn't taste very good. Definitely try other places in the area or just go to Jet's Pizza.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Fun. Easy reservation on open table. We had a party of two on a Saturday night and while they were busy there was no wait. Our food took a bit but tasted good. I ordered a drink and was surprised when it came out in a potted plant with Oreo dirt topping. We sat outside and it made for great people watching.

Yelp
We come to royal oak on a regular basis so I'm not sure how this was my first time here but it was! As always, this turned into an amazing night! I was glad he put this on the list of places to go! We both ordered whiskey sours and enjoyed them. They made them so beautiful! I would definitely recommend coming here! The atmosphere alone will bring me back!
google avatar

Claudia E.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner here! I came with some coworkers that I hadn't seen in a really long time. We were looking for a place in Royal Oak that had a wide variety and good food. Alchemi was exactly it. They have a rotating menu, so what we got may or may not be available when you visit. We started out with some cocktails, all were delicious. We each got different ones and we each loved ours, so there's surely something that anyone could like. I ordered some lamb chops, someone else ordered pad Thai, and the picky eater of the group ordered a salad. The one who got the salad was secretly a little regretful when I let her try my lamb, but she stuck to her guns saying about how good it was. The lamb was delicious, so much so that my one coworker came back with her husband for their anniversary. We got some crème brûlée to split for dessert, and it was the perfect way to cap off a lovely dinner. Overall, we all really loved this place, and we would highly recommend if you are in the area!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic environment and food! Wow! Shared the prime steak with a friend and had the shrimp and crab cakes. Service was excellent!
google avatar

Caesar H.

Yelp
So so. Nice atmosphere. Prices weren't crazy. Didn't enjoy the 'wagyu'. Was more like a pot roast. However the pad Thai was mostly good. Lobster was off but lots of shrimp compensated for it. Lady next to us said the same thing about the lobster. Who knows. Probably would try again.

Yelp
Last night was my second time at Alchemi, and it's good, but there are a couple issues that might make it a "once in a blue moon" place rather than part of my regular rotation. The ambiance is cool and sexy -- dark, copper ceilings, jazz playing, cool bar, well-dressed servers, you know the deal. The cocktails are very good but slightly overpriced. Last night, I tried the Old Smokey Old Fashioned and some sort of thyme drink (forgot the name, sorry), and though they were both good, they were about $2-3 more than they would've been at very good cocktail bars like The Oakland or Sugar House. We split the charcuterie board, which felt a bit small and skimpy on cheese for the price. I don't think I'd get it again. My Chicken Tikka main dish was delicious though, and I'd definitely get it again. The biggest issue was how long everything took. I know restaurants are struggling to find staff, and my reviews have adjusted accordingly, but last night felt *slow slow*. The place was only about half full and they had 2 bartenders working, yet drinks took upwards of 20-25 minutes to show up on the table. Entrees were at least a 40-45 minute wait. After asking for the checks, it took 10 mins to get them and another 10 minutes for the server to pick them back up. We got in at 7:30 and didn't leave until past 10! So, while the food and drinks were good, the service was so slow that I'd never consider this place if I had plans after.

Thomas S.

Yelp
They were accommodating and incredible - due to traffic, we arrived 30 minutes late for our reservation. We kept in touch letting them know our predicament via text. Theatre tickets gave us a shortened and limited window. Our servers made sure we had a spectacular experience and the food was perfect. next time, Alchemi will be the destination for the evening with a trip to the speakeasy.

Yelp
I loved the ambiance and decorations of this place! It was very inviting and had great vibes! Service was also prompt and efficient. She was able to provide great recommendations to the menu! I ordered a coconut curry salmon over rice. Fish was cooked well, very flaky. The coconut sauce was light but creamy and packed full of flavor. The apple salad on top provided a refreshing taste for the plate. My only comments are that I expected a little more ice on the plate and prices were a little expensive. An amazing experience though!
google avatar

Auralia H.

Yelp
Loved the bar area! We stopped in for some drinks and appetizer before heading down to their speakeasy, Johnnys. It wasn't too busy, so we were able to get a seat at the bar. Everything was delicious, both drinks and appetizer. We ordered the house made burrata that was stuffed with spinach ricotta, the presentation was cool and it was very tasty!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place and finally got the chance to! Beautiful ambiance and drinks and service were outstanding. My bf got the burnt ends salad which he enjoyed and I got the Pad Thai. The lobster and shrimp were so delicious and cooked to perfection! Our server recommended the Peaky Blinder cocktail and it was a sweet strawberry concoction. So delicious. Unfortunately, someone had a heavy hand with the fish sauce and made the noodles unbearable and extremely salty for me to eat but I'm not the person to ever return a dish back so I just had them box it and hoped a cream sauce at home would help tone it down. It kind of helped but the salt was still so overwhelming. My heart was on fire from all the salt intake, lol. I tried and I just couldn't continue :( Other reviews say it's great and was my first time trying the dish so I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that salty. I'm not sensitive to salt or fish sauce and cook with it often so I feel like there had to have been a measurement mix up in the back.

Pat C.

Yelp
Insanely good! Service supreme! Food, heavenly! Ambiance classic! Drinks were beyond this world! Worth every penny! Divine!!!

Yelp
Really great vibe and speak easy. High prices but worth it if you want a great craft cocktail. Good and fast service.

Yelp
I write a lot so bare with me. I started an early resolution to visit every bar/lounge/restaurant I could find on Yelp that had high scores and review them. Mostly for the liquor concoctions and how unique they are. And at one point I came across Alchemi. And so here I am reviewing it and I must say it was a fabulous place. Dim lighting, hardwood floors, BEAUTIFUL bar with names of liquor bottles I can't pronounce . The aesthetic of it was comfortable and inviting. The booths were a little tight if you're a tall big chap like me at 6'4" 275. But still comfortable. The tables seemed on the low side in ratio to the seats itself. But those are small potatoes. Speaking of which: FOOD!! Everything is farm to table. Which is the best way to eat food, if you can. Started off with the ribs. Very tender and flavored, they fell off the bone. Chef Johnny even came out to take the plates away. It's a different experience when the chef personally comes to greet you. Love that! Main course was the New York strip for me which was ordered medium rare and it didn't last long on the plate cause it was delicious as well as the smashed potatoes. I'm not a veggie guy but the wife loved those which brings me to her dish which was the Michigan Lamb Ragu. I got myself a taste of that and hot damn is that ever good. After it was done the chef took our plates away again. The drinks were refreshing and not too heavy on the liquor. See photos for those. Forgot to take pics of the food. And lastly a shout out to Kersten (sorry if I butchered the spelling), our hostess and waitress for the night who was cordial and lovely. Thank you to all the people working there that makes that place run. Keep up the fantastic work. I'll come back again indeed.

Yelp
Great ambiance, love the decor, candle holders on some bar tables. Food presentation is picture worthy. My salad with rib tips was huge ! I would order it again. However, our gimlets tasted like they had no alcohol in it - all you could taste is lime juice. We mentioned it to the waitress but they only offered for us to buy another shot to add to our gimlet.

Yelp
Food was fine but took such a long time. The service was awful. We were there for 2.5 hours and waited 45 mins for checks. We had tickets to a show and finally had to ask for our bill. Our server seemed annoyed and surprised when we told her we needed to get going. We were placed in a back corner without music or other guests- it was incredibly strange. We also had to put a $100 deposit down and it was returned in the form of a $100 bill- which was bizarre. Just an overall underwhelming experience with odd and slow service.

Yelp
Alchemi is just what Royal Oak needs to become the high-end city it claims to be on paper. Farm-to-table offerings in a dim lit dining room with appealing decor. The chefs show their pride in presentation and flavor. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to the sports bar scene.

Yelp
My first time at Alchemi and it was fine. My server was great and my husband really enjoyed the salmon he had. I had the pad thai and it wasn't bad but not great. I did wish there was maybe a few less shrimp and a bit larger lobster tail but it was a large portion. The Pad Thai may have benefited from some spice because it came across as sweet. The cocktails were good but didn't go along with the "Asian/Thai" theme and then I made a reservation at the "hidden bar" Joe's Speakeasy only to find it was the exact same menu as Alchemi. I expected a different experience at the hidden bar.

Yelp
My husband and I went for our anniversary and let's just say we will definitely be going back! The food was delicious and far from ordinary. Our server Shazaf was wonderful and we and the fact that the chef delivered our starter to the table was a nice touch . The space it self was a whole vibe.

Yelp
Let me just start by saying...WOW. The place looks spectacular. Very warm and welcoming. Who ever made the music choices, kudos to you. Loved it. The food is top notch and you can tell that there is talent behind the menu and the flavors. Staff is great. Very welcoming and friendly. Never had to wait for anything whether it was service or just some conversation. The work ethic is very evident. The chef makes frequent rounds out on the floor, makes conversation and even busses tables. This is a sign of integrity and class to me. Everything on the menu is something I want to order and enjoy. We have to plan more time here so we can enjoy it all. You need to dine here.
