21 Outstanding Coffee Bars in Los Angeles

"Weekday visits to the Alchemist Coffee Project can be quite the scene given its location in the middle of Koreatown. Anyone in need of a cup that uses Onyx Coffee beans or an outstanding breakfast sandwich will be satisfied before leaving this popular cafe. A bonus for the parking-challenged neighborhood: the cafe has a free one-hour parking lot." - Mona Holmes

Koreatown’s been buzzing lately, with trendy restaurants and coffee shops popping up all over the place. We’ve hit up a bunch of the popular spots around here, but on a recent visit through the neighborhood, we stumbled across The Alchemist, a super chic coffee shop. I grabbed a matcha latte, and it was solid—smooth, not overly sweet, just how I like it. They’ve got a tempting lineup of pastries too, though I didn’t try them this time. The vibe? Awesome. The place was packed with people chatting and soaking in the lively atmosphere. Service was friendly and quick, which sealed the deal. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you’re in K-town!

I guess people like this coffee shop because it looks different than a Starbucks. I just had their large ice americano and it tasted a bit sour. Usually this means that the brew was too short lived. There were many folks studying and doing work on their devices and the shop provides Wi-Fi and many power outlets. I guess for Koreatown it is better than average for those who want a quiet place to work. Parking is bad since it is downtown area. Drinks are about 20% more than your Starbucks drinks.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Ktown and been going here ever since they opened :) I noticed they came out with their summer special drinks and got the matcha creme brûlée and wow I was so impressed with the quality of this drink. This beats any double matcha that just opened. The sweetness of this drink is just perfect. I’m someone who doesn’t like drinks that are on the sweeter side. This matcha drink also has 7 grams of matcha which I prefer my matcha strong. I hope they keep this drink and it’s not just summer special that will end this month because it’s just THAT GOOD :) Thank you Jonathan for recommending this drink!! Can’t wait to come back and try all the other summer drinks. You can tell how much thought and effort was put into the drinks as well which I appreciate it.

I was back in town visiting a friend. On our last morning we decided to grab some coffee and maybe a croissant for the ride home. The space was very open, clean, and a great place to come in with your laptop and get some work done while drinking your coffee. The cashier was friendly and answered all of our questions and I was also trying to find a gluten free option for food for my wife. We wanted to try a few items on the menu. We ordered the Misugaru Latte and the Tiramisu Latte. The Misugaru Latte was a black sesame oat latte. It was on point and was delicious. the only thing I would order differently next time would to add another shot of espresso to it. I am not exactly sure but maybe because of the sesame and grain mix, the drink itself was a bit thicker. Don't let this deter you, order this latte. The Tiramisu lived up to the consistency and taste. Both lattes were not overly sweet and the coffee did shine. We also ordered the GF Financier and I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. Now, I am a cream cheese lover and the amount of cream cheese was just what I wanted. Spot on for me! Next time I'm back in KTown I will definitely be back.

Great and chill coffee spot! The baristas were also nice I got the Tiramisu latte which was very good

Google
We tried the Tiramisu latte (slightly sweet and coffee wasn't strong - very delicious), einspanner (slightly sweet creamy top with coffee - also very good), iced matcha latte (kind of bland depending on the sweetness you choose). Great service and ambience.

Google
Loved the atmosphere & staff! Super friendly and very beautiful space. Got the matcha einspanner & tiramisu latte, both were okay. Matcha tasted like water at first but then you start to acclimate to it when you mix in the sweet cream. Others agreed it was sort of grainy tasting. Tiramisu latte was better but still watery. Pastries on the other hand were amazing! We got the Dubai chocolate, chocolate macrons, caneles & a coffee crumb cake! Highly recommend any of those pastries they’re all so good! I’d give this place another chance if I’m in the area.

Yelp
I visited Alchemist once a long time ago, probably around the time they first opened, and I wasn't too impressed back then. But recently, my friend and I stopped by again on one of our regular coffee dates, where we explore different coffee spots and try new items. Let me just say--my experience this time was so much better than what I remembered. In fact, the drink I ordered was so memorable, I felt compelled to write this review. Alchemist is located on a busy street in Koreatown. I managed to find street parking right across the street on a Sunday, though I'm not sure if they have designated parking for the shop itself. Once inside, it's easy to see why this place attracts a lot of students and remote workers. The atmosphere is relaxed, with plenty of people studying, working, or just enjoying a quiet moment with their drinks and pastries. It also looks like they've updated the space since my last visit--adding more furniture to accommodate more guests. There's also a small outdoor seating area, which is great when the inside gets full. Although I wasn't in the mood for coffee, I ordered their Peach Lemonade, which is made with organic peach peony tea and fresh-squeezed lemonade. I don't know what kind of magic is in that combination, but it was absolutely perfect for my palate~ So much so that I'm already craving it again today! It wasn't overly sweet, and they didn't drown it in ice like a lot of places do. I expected some tartness from the lemonade, but it was surprisingly smooth and well-balanced. The peach tea added a delicate, floral note that elevated the whole drink. It was especially refreshing on a warm Sunday afternoon. Now I'm genuinely curious to see what new drinks they'll have next time I visit and can't wait to go back~~

Yelp
I love seeing WFH spaces thriving in the midst of people being forced back into office. No one wants that, we want delicious food, coffee, and our time back. Initial Impression: I love a dark, refined, and moody space. Despite it being this way, it's very lively with great music. There is ample seating compared to most coffee shops and that's something that makes this space even more inviting. The pastries are displayed enticingly and all of the drinks sound appealing. Service: The service was very fast, I'm a little sad I just missed the food service as I looking forward to trying the panini or the lox. Just another trip for next time! I purchased the Einspanner Matcha and it was well-balanced. The matcha has a very smooth taste, foam, and quality. The presentation was picture perfect! I purchased their Bread Pudding, Basque Cheesecake, and Dubai Chocolate Bar. All of which were to expectation and a nice way to satiate my palate before dinner. Overall: I really enjoyed the quality of the food

Yelp
5 stars for being the closest coffee shop to me and having great coffee and working space! Friendly staff that give treats to my dog. And for spending $7-8 for a latte, what a delight to get horse/unicorn latte art?? I've tried a number of their drinks- honey latte, vanilla latte, creme brûlée latte, tiramisu latte, einspanner, matcha einspanner, pour over black coffee, etc.. I loved the einspanner the best that is espresso, cream, and vanilla. I love how strong it was but creamy. It's an 8oz iced drink, but really really good. It's like a dessert!

Yelp
I honestly wasn't expecting much and just wanted a quick pick me up drink but I can tell that this is gonna be a go-to matcha spot for sure. The matcha was the perfect amount of creaminess and matcha flavor. I can't speak for the pastry and mocha latte because that was my dad's but they had so many pastries and desserts that I wanna try next time! I would say that it's really crowded and didn't seem like a cafe to go to often for studying/working buut this was just based on a Saturday so I'd assume it's much better on weekdays!
google avatar

Yelp
Came in the evening, wish I got to try the bagels but the kitchen closes at 3. I would not recommend the Matcha Latter with oat milk, but the Matcha Einspanner was not bad! The interior was a clean, nice study spot but they don't have many outlets. One downside was although the music was nice (alternative indie), it was quite loud and the cafe overall was pretty noisy (might not be able to focus on work). Wifi worked well! Service was nice and drinks came out fast. Overall would come again to try the kitchen items :)

Yelp
Drinks: My fav is def the misugaru latte and it has me coming back. Both the coffee and misugaru flavors are strong and pair well together. The tiramisu latte was also good. Both drinks aren't too sweet. Service: Most of the workers are super nice and helpful. There is free 90 minute parking with validation in the retail parking on Hobart. Ambiance: the vibes are good for studying and u can see a lot of people studying or doing work inside. Lots of seating available and it's not too loud.

Yelp
This cafe was very aesthetic and the perfect spot to get work done or enjoy your choice of coffee or matcha while catching up with a friend! Our orders were efficiently prepared as soon as we ordered. The end result of our matcha and vanilla latte was prepared directly in front of us when combining the coffee with ice and adding matcha powder on the top! The matcha we ordered worked perfectly with the foam added on top and was very delicious and authentic! The parking lot available looked to be valet so we just walked from a nearby parking.

Yelp
After Korean BBQ in Ktown, we didn't want to venture too far for some after-meal drinks. Friend suggested Alchemist Coffee Project nearby and it was only a street over with covered parking, so we were in! It was a packed house on Black Friday afternoon, but luckily after we all finished ordering, some people were leaving so we were able to find a table to fit all five of us. I haven't seen this too often at other coffee shops, so I ordered the iced tiramisu latte with 2% milk ($7.75). The mascarpone cream sold me. Delicious latte, but got a bit too sweet for me towards the end. Make sure to get your parking validated for free 90 minutes of parking!

Yelp
MUST visit when in the area! I heard a lot of good things about Alchemist Coffee, I'm glad I tried their classic iced Americano. Super clean, nice study music, and friendly workers. Lots of seating and good wifi. Located under The Pearl. They have another location (bigger) about 5 minutes away.

Yelp
This place caught my eye from across the street while I was on my way to a different coffee shop. I love the name and the aesthetic inside. There's ample space to sit down and work/study, tons of tables and benches. I misread the menu and was hoping the tiramisu Latte to be hot - I didn't know it was only offered iced. The latte itself has good flavor and isn't too sweet which I really appreciate. However, the amount of cocoa powder on top can cause a few coughs if inhaled. Actual food feels really expensive, but if you want a pastry you can expect it to run you $5-7. The latte was $7.25 for one standard size. Overall I'm not happy to have ventured over but I don't know if I'll add it into my regular rotation.

Yelp
I've been wandering around LA for a few weeks now looking for a great latte. I've discovered most are foam covered warm milky beverages. When my friend Jason gave me a list of some of his favourite coffee shops to try I saw that ACP was enroute to MacArthur Park so it was my stop today. I actually didn't have a coffee at home and put all my eggs in one basket. Nearly an hour walk to get there. And you know what? I'm glad I waited! Latte art was beautiful but even better?? The taste of the latte itself! I actually went and thanks the barista afterwards for making me a perfect latte.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Intended to pay a visit to their West Adams location, but apparently the listing was kinda misleading as it's not open yet. Having 2 existing locations in Ktown, the one at Pearl apartment was just awesome and I couldn't agree more when plenty other reviews called it as productive space. Yeah, just perfect when you tried to find a place with plenty of power outlets, decent wifi, and many seats. There's also retail parking space next door, and they gave 90minutes validation. Plenty of pastries were served on the showcase and I was so glad hearing the barista offered if I wanted my Ricotta cake being reheated. Served warm, the fluffy and moist cake was so comforting and just YUM! The Caramel Latte was decent enough, not overly sweet and the coffee was pretty good. Wouldn't call it my most favorite around the area, but offering such a cozy space would make me having reasons to come back.

Yelp
Love the ambiance. Great coffee and matcha. And most especially, the best customer service. What a great first experience!

Yelp
5/5 SOLID coffee shop for studying/working. I came on a Friday morning to an free, empty parking lot (woo). It's small-moderately sized, but there are definitely much smaller and more difficult-to-maneuver lots in Ktown (I'm looking at you Yeems!!) Even in the early morning, the place was always poppin with people coming in and out. The majority get their coffee to go, but I think what Alchemist does best is their aesthetic and workable cafe. The interior is darkly lit, but with an entirely glass wall that lets a lot of sunshine in. There are various smaller tables meant for 2-4 people each, with chairs with backs! There's also a longer, larger table with and backless stools. I counted 4 outlets to connect to (they've attached extension cords and cubes so more people can connect which is very kind), though I can understand how quickly those must go when it gets busy. Also, free wifi! I got the hot mocha latte, which first and foremost, was a piece of art. Their espresso blend is on the fruitier side, and they use a dark chocolate for their mocha. Overall, it was a lovely accompaniment to hours of studying. Many walking out were holding their more fun lattes, so I definitely want to come back to try their misugaroo or tiramisu lattes!
google avatar

Yelp
I think I just discovered my favorite coffee shop to get work done at in Ktown! I ordered the misugaru latte, which at first sip tasted amazing. The sesame has a strong toasted flavor and this is probably my favorite misugaru latte I've had. I almost thought the misugaru/black sesame flavor overpowered the coffee, but as I kept drinking I was able to taste and feel the coffee. They have other unique/specialty drinks here that I'd like to try but I heard their regular latte is just as good! I really enjoyed the ambience here. There are plenty of tables including a long one with outlets. The seats are not only aesthetically pleasing but super comfortable! There is also outdoor seating available. I also like that they offer water to the side because when studying or working for a long time I get thirsty. Love the way this place is decorated and the music they played is exactly what's on my playlist lol.

Yelp
Location: next to Orangetheory. One hour free parking for retail in the gated lot Ambiance: definitely a coffee shop you'd want to sit and work at BUT 1) it gets cold inside, 2) seats are all cramped together because it is a small space, and 3) the chair height to table height ratio can be uncomfortable (or maybe it's just me) Good drinks though and they also sell bags of Onyx beans. My only complaint is they did not give a heads up that the einspanner is not the same size as the other iced drinks.

Yelp
TBH, I was sleeping on this place. Every time I came to LA, I told myself I was gonna come here and didn't get the chance. But I'm glad I did. It's a super cute, modern coffee spot. There's a few tables outside and some inside. It can get a bit cozy, but I feel that's with all popular coffee spots. I got the Creme Brulee Latte, which I liked because it was mad sweet as I was expecting. There was a lot of people getting the pour overs as well. So if you're a coffee snob, check it out! The staff is hella friendly! Always a plus in the day and age! This place is right in between OrangeTheory and Carving Board
google avatar

Yelp
I usually go to the one on La Cienega but I was working near mid wilshire so I stopped here. Parking was a bit challenging but I scored a street parking near by. Service was excellent. Crème brûlée latte was amazing. Super quiet. I love it!! Two thumbs up.
google avatar

Harrison K.

Yelp
Got the truffle avocado toast & misugaru latte. The food is good but I was missing notes of truffle, and the misugaru flavor wasn't as impactful as I'd like. They were still good though. The staff are very nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. Lots of people on their devices working. Plenty of seating too.

Yelp
Alchemist is an amazing spot for coffee in Koreatown. When I worked on 3rd street, we would order pickup from here all the time. They prepare drinks so quickly and you only need to give about a 10-15 minute notice before you pick up. The servers are all so kind and fun to banter with while you order and all of them are so attractive too. The matcha tea with a teensy bit of sweetener is absolutely amazing. I would say it's almost on par with the matcha tea from Tea Master in Little Tokyo. Parking at this location is free for 2 hours with validation right behind the shop in the Retail Parking lot on Hobart. It has such a cute vibe and there is so much seating to sit and do some work or journal for a few hours. Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
I've probably spent hundreds of hours (and dollars tbh) between both Alchemist locations in Koreatown while studying for licensing exams. I'm continually impressed with the service, quality and atmosphere. I was once charged an accidental fee, and the owner reached out immediately after I submitted a complaint to correct the charge and offer me a free drink on my next visit. My usual orders are the tiramisu latte or crème brûlée latte. Both are very sweet. The Pearl location feels a bit larger, with more seating for small groups or individuals. Spacing is smaller, so the seating can feel tight when it's busy. It's a great spot to study and get work done - the music is never too loud/distracting, and the seating arrangement seems to attract more people coming to work alone (i.e. there aren't many loud conversations or big groups here). My only gripe with this location is that it's always freezing cold.
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
5 stars for Alchemist Coffee Project at the Pearl in Koreatown. Everything was great from the coffee to the staff to the amazing latte art. If you visit make sure you stop and smell some of the bags of coffee and you'll know right away that these are premium beans roasted with care - they smell amazing.
google avatar

Aman G.

Yelp
The parking situation at this location just takes away from the experience so I had to reduce one star. In addition to that, our drinks were not hot when we received them, just warm. Otherwise, I would say the espresso they use was smooth and they had nice coffee art and ambiance. Though they did have some gluten free pastry options, we can in at about 6pm and there wasn't anything remaining. Service was good and they do seem to be busy and a popular place.

Mike Z.

Yelp
Great coffee. Terrible service the lady making the coffee today looks mad! She literally rolled her eyes at Me when in said thanks. The place has an odd set up when ur waiting for food.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years since we moved to the neighborhood. It's so lovely to have a local spot we can walk to every morning with great coffee, matcha and conversation. The staff and service here is what makes it great to come back to every morning! They say LA doesn't have enough good 'third-spaces' or places out side of home and work where people can catch up and feel like a community but this coffee shop is definitely one of them! You can tell people from all walks to life come here to enjoy coffee and tea and that is a testament to how well they do their job. From older folks, to young students and families. Managers like Jonathan, and people like Fei, Roxy, Kat and truly everyone there make time to memorize your order, ask you how you're doing and I can tell care a lot for the others who work with them making the vibe at the cafe really enjoyable. Their energy makes you want to keep coming back and supporting them! I always love supporting places where I can tell everyone feels proud about their work and I can tell they put a lot of heart into everything they make for us. I love taking my friends and family here bc I know that the staff always takes great care of us and great care of the drinks and food they make. It's so cool to be on a first name basis with them and learn about the drinks. Even my brother who moved here recently now comes often and shares how he enjoys catching up with people there and feels like he's treated as family when he orders. Warm interactions like this is what LA needs more of! I come here almost every morning before work and a big part of why I and many neighbors keep coming back is how sincere and wonderful everyone who works here is and how thoughtful they are about what they serve. My favorite drink is a hot matcha latte and sometimes I get an almond milk cappuccino, their croissant sandwiches are also really delicious and fresh!

Mary S.

Yelp
The place was nice pretty spacious. They have a cake donut that is vegan it's not bad. Some of the drinks can be made non dairy but mainly if you have no diet restrictions it's a great place.

Yelp
I finally ditched my go to worldwide brand on the corner of the street that saves me a *buck... :) Alchemist is located on Wilshire a few blocks east of Western. As I work in this area, I decided to try this location, since they have two. I come here when I crave something more crafty and sweet. For those that don't know me, I'm a caffeine addict! I drink about three cups of coffee a day... Now, the space here isn't large which makes it cozy. However, the ambiance was darker, modern and chic. I saw many patrons on their computers. Thus, I'm assuming they have outlets and WiFi. The service is always excellent and the drinks are delicious. They also had a selection of food and baked goods. However, it's on the pricier side with my latte being about $7+. That's why coming here is a treat! Overall, they have great delicious drinks, but I would say it would be hard to be a regular here if you don't make a fortune.
google avatar

Richard A.

Yelp
Tried their Dubai chocolate and had an iced latte with black sesame foam. Can't remember the exact name but it was delicious. Workers were kind and quick. It felt like a cozy working area. Less rambunctious than your average Starbucks.
google avatar

Ahlennah B.

Yelp
Got a mocha half sweet. It was amazing. Beautiful foam, beautiful latte art...felt bad snapping a lid on the to-go cup! Partner got a tiramisu latte, full sweet, which I tried and found the sweetness level on was also very nice. I wouldn't worry too much about drinks coming out too sweet here in the future. This was a busy busy spot and almost all the tables were full of people working and studying. It's a nice bright, comfortable spot, even so full. Cozy, but not tight, even tho there were many ppl standing waiting for drinks as well. Would definitely come here again in the future, but I'd budget a little more time for to-go if you have anywhere to be
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best coffee places that I have tried out in LA so far. The vibes, music playlist, and aesthetic are unmatched compared to other places that I have been to. The inside is very open with a lot of seating and the drinks are made pretty quickly. Tried their Misaguru latte and it was pretty good. Definitely would come back to try out the rest of their menu. It is also a great place to work, study, and/or hangout.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
Matcha tasted high quality, mix the einspanner really well. The lemon poppyseed muffin was really good but their pastries are on the more expensive side. There are always customers working here.
google avatar

Ted A.

Yelp
The Tanzania peabery pour over coffee was very good. It was flavorful and had nearly zero bitterness or sourness. It is best to drink quickly when hot and fresh because the flavor changes as the coffee cools down. Small but pleasant seating area with plenty of free (on Sundays) street parking out front.

Yelp
I LOVE this place . The coffee is just amazingly perfect every time . I also like their pastries . Have tried their cookies and peach pie I believe it was both good. The staff is also extremely kind and helpful . I like the cozy feeling inside as well highly recommend! I was going to take picture of the pie too but I ate it too fast

Yelp
Really enjoy visiting Alchemist whenever I get the chance! It's a great spot for a gab session, or to get work done. Almost every time I'm there I see tons of people diligently studying. I'm not a big coffee person, but I've enjoyed their lavender and vanilla iced matcha lattes. The macarons are a nice little treat too! I appreciate that they have a nice variety of gluten-free pastries and baked goods as well. A friend brought me a slice of their gluten-free ricotta cake a few years ago, and I *still* think about it. Every time I go back I hope that they have it but they're always out! I think it says a lot that I'm still thinking about one of their desserts 3 years after trying it.

Hili N.

Yelp
Alchemist Coffee Project was a great experience! I had their almond croissant, which was perfectly flaky, along with some chocolate I brought back from Dubai--it paired so well with their hot latte made with almond milk. The latte was smooth and creamy, and the cozy atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Kat L.

Yelp
This place is absolutely phenomenal in just about every way that I can think of. The vibes are great - industrial but warm and creative. Lots of tables/stools and people love to come and work here. They have a small menu but their coffee is actually amazing so all their drinks are equally delicious. Every person I've brought here is a coffee snob and comments on how good the coffee is. Everyone that works there also is super nice. There's also a selection of bagel sandwiches and baked goods available that have also never let me down. Parking: Fair warning that it is in Ktown near a major intersection and in a strip mall so if you come during rush hour maybe park at a nearby street with metered spots because the lot comes valet sometimes for the restaurants there.

Grace Sorensen ..

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to get an einspanner latte and sit and enjoy for a while Lots of fabulous n comfortable seating and fabulous AC for hot summer days when your car ac is broken lol The sweetest employees and never fails to be great coffee in a great space

Ava C.

Yelp
Free 1.5 hr parking. Bomb ass einspanner. (really small tho.) Good chill music. Nice baristas. Spacious beautiful interior with a large study table with plugs. Heavy, 6.5/10 chicken pesto panini. best study experience yet in ktown tbh, so serene and peaceful. The fact i am even writing this review is self sabotage, cause then everyone's gonna find out about this place and then it's gonna be crowded and busy and there's gonna be no parking and then I'm gonna hate going here and then I'll have to find another place. But guess what? I love to self sabotage it's somehow in my nature to make everything more complicated and suffer for the sake of others. This is probably something I should bring up in therapy.

Yelp
I came here in the morning and there was a small free parking lot with plenty of spots available. The space is big and great for studying or working. They have a large menu with lots of food/pastry options, as well as lots of unique lattes. The prices were a bit high though, with an extra cost for alternative milks. The service is really quick and the staff was friendly, and the oat milk latte I had was delicious! A great coffee spot in K Town if you're willing to pay a bit more

Yelp
I love alchemist coffee! Both locations are very nice! Although it has the same name... they give off different vibes! I believe this place has free 90 minute parking validation... although I typically walk here when I want to hangout! Or when I want to treat myself after working out! It's next to Orange theory and across the street from 24 hour fitness. Probably why I don't see any workout results There's a solid amount of seating and the WiFi is always solid for those who are trying to study! I also really love that during the weekdays... there seems to be this unsaid rule of not speaking too loud? Some cafes are too loud for me to study... not gonna name any names but... it starts with an M and ends in an O but I appreciate the noise levels here! The workers are kind and helpful! At this location I really like their peach peony tea when I want something light (not sweetened)... or tiramisu latte when I want something sweeter but not too sweet! I've tried their honey latte but personally I think the tiramisu is sweeter so I like it more I tried the Misugaru latte for the first time and tasted just like Misugaru. I'm not sure if it was due to the peanuts but it had some crunchy bits that I loved. The drink was so so creamy, and gave me energy! I drank it at 2:30 and could not sleep until midnight! because I love Misugaru I loved the drink so much! And it's actually the only place I had dried it here. I believe there was some black sesame notes in it too! Another cafe I love and will continue supporting when I want a treat! :)

Yelp
Positives: The interior is beautiful. There are plenty of seats and tables. There is parking which was probably the best thing about checking out this coffee shop because LA and parking can be a nightmare. Beverage Review: I tried the chai latte and it was good. The picture looks like I took a few sips but that's just how I received the drink. I think measurements can use a revision. The ice was clumped together which I didn't particularly like but ultimately did not make or break my overall experience. The drinks here are on the pricier side which I would be on board with if the drink was amazing and/or unique. It was a decent drink but I have had better in Koreatown. If I were to come here again I would order something else, but that is definitely on me for craving a chai. It seems like the duo or tiramisu are better options if you do stop by. The service was not the most welcoming, which I felt was odd since other reviews mention the friendly service. Overall my experience was decent.

Yelp
Third wave coffee shop, with two locations in prime Koreatown. They brew Onyx Coffee, an Arkansas based roaster that is easily one of the best in the country. Their bakery case is stunning, offering the best selection from local wholesaler Farmshop that I've ever seen. Their menu includes unique specialty drinks, along with every classic espresso beverage you could hope to find. The Misugaru Latte was outstanding. This iced oat latte was lightly sweetened, and infused with nutty black sesame and a grain mix reminiscent of injeolmi. Topped with fresh cream, every sip was memorable. I could not resist the Honeycomb Madeline, which was as delicious as it was beautiful. I dock one star because I strongly disliked the layout of the space, so much that I did not want to hangout or work here. The shop is massive, with plenty of flat surfaces and seating, but all of the seats face the wall. So, your back faces the flow of people coming in and out and waiting in line, which cuts right through the center of the store. Terrible Feng Shui.

Yelp
First time visiting, ordered the iced Crème brûlée latte. It was delicious! Not too sweet. Service was great and coffee came out quickly.

Yelp
I think about the tiramisu latte from here so often!! It's so good and workers are awesome. It always happens to be pretty full, so not a great place to study so you'd have to come early if that's something you'd like to do.

Yelp
I wrote a review for their other location. As I said on that review, they used to have excellent management. This location has become even worse than the other one. Some of the staff are just audacious. They're simply not kind and other customers say the same. They come across as snobs. A few are kind. The female manager is awesome, but she was coming in less and less and the rude male manager I mentioned in my other review was visiting here more. Definitely a good reason to not visit anymore.

Yelp
Had to try onyx roaster coffee after hearing so much. Not many places in LA so headed over to Alchemist. Just stayed with their Southern Weather blend, pour over. Nice sweetness and hints of fruit for a balanced clean cup. Full of people chilling, relaxed vibe.

Yelp
The honey latte is awesome. Service is great too. The people are so nice and they had my order ready in just a few minutes. Cute and modern cafe with nice seating. They have pastries on display and I was specifically searching for the cheesecake that someone had posted in the past. Sadly, they didn't have it. The cookies and other pastries looked pretty good too.
