Alchemy Coffee Reveals New London Speciality Coffee Shop in Shoreditch | Eater London

"Founded by Joe and Anne O’Hara and based in Merton, south‑west London, this roastery and speciality café — which currently operates a flagship on Ludgate Broadway in the City — will open a second London shop in November on Scrutton Street at Victorian warehouse conversion Zetland House in Shoreditch. Often overlooked beside larger London roasters, its coffees punch above its modest footprint: the flagship “Elixir” espresso is celebrated for pronounced fruit and floral notes and a high sweetness. The business emphasizes a genuine direct‑trade purchasing model — committing to full‑container buys paid in advance based on representative samples, which shifts financial risk onto the roaster and producer rather than brokers — a sourcing ethic it presents as a meaningful credit amid an industry where the phrase is frequently overused." - James Hansen

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem! Alchemy Roasters is easily one of the best coffee spots around. The coffee is absolutely delicious — rich, smooth, and clearly crafted with care. I especially loved the banana bread; it was moist, flavorful, and the perfect pairing with my flat white. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. You can tell they really care about both the coffee and the people who walk through the door. The vibe of the place is cozy yet modern — perfect for catching up with a friend, getting some work done, or just relaxing. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to stay a while. Highly recommend. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Beautifully presented and consistently great tasting coffee with a myriad of options from rotating guest espressos to an exquisitely selction of hot and cold filter offerings. A large selection of sweet and Savoury treats to choose from; and the staff are always friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable, making me feel at ease everytime I go in for a drink. Worth seeking out whether for a quiet workspace or just a quick lammington and flat white in the morning!

Coffee was nice, but the too overheated milk quite much ruined it. I was trying to ask the guy with long curly hair if they had anything savoury to eat. He interrupted me and told me with a ‘ you should’ve known this etiquette’ tone to wait until he finishes pouring milk(?). Am I a jerk for assuming he is capable of answering a yes or no question whilst doing a task a 4 year old can do? Mind you there were 3 people sitting, not much to do.. Everyone has hard days at work i guess….

A fantastic little find this morning. Very helpful staff who made me an amazing coffee with opus beans. Fantastic and full of flavour. While waiting for my wife they offered me a sample of the espresso soft serve. One way to describe it, divine! Support this place people, it would be a loss to everyone if you don't.

I got the most delicious pain au chocolat with a pistachio filling and pistachio on top, and omg I think it was the best pastry I’ve ever had, for only £3.20! I was so shocked at the price, and it’s a very good size for it too! The service was mostly good, although the person I was buying it from seemed a little passive aggressive. The atmosphere was really sweet, it looked just like a cute little cafe. I would definately go again.

Honestly, some of the rudest and most condescending service I’ve ever experienced. I didn’t really interact with the baristas, but the man at the till — possible the owner — speaks to customers with this unbelievably patronising, dismissive attitude. Both times I went in, he talked to me like I was bothering him just by ordering, and his whole tone made it feel like he thought he was above the people he’s serving. The first time, I assumed he was just having a bad day, but the second visit was exactly the same — if not worse. He was so condescending and rude that I ended up leaving without buying anything. There’s absolutely no reason for a customer to be spoken to like that, and it’s definitely not how you run a business.

Killer coffee, some of the best pastries I had, amazingly helpful staff, and a nice little city garden nearby. I've been to many cafés in London and I keep coming back here!

Nice place to stop for a decent coffee. I had a flat white and it was excellent. The staff were really nice and friendly too. I recommend this place and I’ll be back!
