4.5! Amazing happy hour deals, great service, welcoming environment, and a big ‘ol bar! Careful with that drink that has whiskey and raspberry. Make sure you have the taste for something that strong. It’s cute though! But don’t be misled 🙂‍↕️

Met up with some work compadres for some drinks and eats. We had a great time and some great drinks. It was not super busy on this evening and the service was great! The food was also pretty good too!! Highly recommend the charcuterie board!!! Not pictured, we also got the shrimp shrimp étouffée and the grilled cheese… both were great!

Anon Ymous

Google
I liked the place, especially how fast service is We luckily came during happy hour and had some good cocktails @ half price(4pm-6pm Monday-Friday) and some not so good food at half price also. Again, I applaud the place for having affordable bites so quickly, but the quality really shows once the food arrives. I recommend the beef sliders and avoid the tacos (which had tiny bits of shrimp and was a huge letdown). So, my advice is focus on the drinks. There is a menu in which good isn't discounted and those plates looked yummy

Came here with friends (December 30) for happy hour and this is a nice little gem. The ambience was great and I’m glad I came! I ordered the House Frites and Mussels as an after work “dinner” and was able to get a few drinks from the happy hour menu. I would definitely recommend the Hound Dog as this drink was delicious! The mussels was cooked perfectly and just the right amount of garlic. They give you a massive amount of fries that’s enough to share with the table. I will definitely come back here to try their other food and drinks!

Google
Best cocktails bar ever! The drinks are amazing but the bar tenders actually know the drinks! Food was great too. Overall I would recommend this place for sure.

Google
Really great meaty wings. Spicy! Gooey grilled cheese w tangiest. tomato soup…hearty. Deviled eggs had kick. Memphis Old Fashioned. I had one, could have 6 more except I have to drive home Robert was our waiter. Excellent guy.

Google
Great experience! Loved the cocktails and charcuterie. Bartender and service were great. Good vibes, would definitely visit again.

Robert Cardoni

Google
The small plates are great... deviled eggs, tune poke tacos... and a plate of fries that’s a mile high Bartenders are super friendly and helpful. Can’t say the same for the disinterested hosts :/ but that won’t sway me from coming back

Yelp
Good to see Alchemy going strong on the weekends. Love their Goldie Likes cocktail, it's a neat take on a classic margarita. Still a fan of their sliders and fried rice. Overall it's a great stop with top notch service and ambience.
google avatar

Robin O.

Yelp
Don't get the curry, or much. Unfortunately the food is either bland or the rice is not cooked well. I just hate the new food here now, despite trying it again. Service is mid to good, depending on your day. The chef and a bartender both vape inside the restaurant while working... there's just an air of ambivalence. I'm so sad to see this happening.

Yelp
Alchemy Restaurant in cooper Young has quickly become one of my favorite spots for cocktails and delectable bites. I have visited this establishment multiple times, and each experience has left me thoroughly impressed. One of the standout features of Alchemy is their talented mixologists. The expertly crafted cocktails are a true delight for the senses. From classic favorites to unique creations, the drink menu offers a wide range of options to satisfy any palate. The mixologists' skill and creativity shine through in every sip, making Alchemy my go-to place for a memorable cocktail experience. I must also mention the exceptional service provided by the general manager, Sage. Sage is truly awesome and goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest receives top-notch customer service. Their attentiveness and dedication to ensuring a pleasant dining experience are commendable. Sage consistently checks in on guests, making sure that their needs are met and that they feel valued. Their presence adds a personal touch that sets Alchemy apart from other establishments. While Alchemy changes their menu from time to time, one thing remains constant: their fries with aioli sauce are absolutely divine. As someone who is quite particular about fries, I can confidently say that Alchemy's fries are a winner. They strike the perfect balance of crispiness, and when paired with the flavorful aioli sauce, they create a heavenly combination. The fries are so good that you may find yourself wanting to take some home with you. In addition to their mouthwatering fries, Alchemy offers a variety of other delectable choices. From wings to fried rice, their menu is diverse and ever-changing. This commitment to innovation ensures that there is always something new and exciting to try. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes or enjoy exploring unique flavors, Alchemy has something to satisfy your cravings. The ambiance at Alchemy is another reason why I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is inviting and vibrant, creating the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. Whether you're meeting friends for a casual get-together or enjoying a date night, you'll feel right at home at Alchemy. In conclusion, Alchemy Restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee is a hidden gem that deserves recognition. The talented mixologists, led by Sage, craft exceptional cocktails that are sure to impress. The attentive and friendly service adds a personal touch to the dining experience. While their menu changes, the fries with aioli sauce are an absolute must-try. The diverse menu, featuring dishes like wings and fried rice, ensures that there is something for everyone. Lastly, the inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable evening. I wholeheartedly recommend Alchemy for a delightful dining experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Yelp
I receive an outdated menu. The food was meh. The dumplings were the best we had. Service was good. Ambiance was casual .

Yelp
I have a great time whenever I go to Alchemy. I sit at the bar because I do solo outings often, & the bartenders are amazing. I went before they merged with Salt & Soy, and after. Though the menu has changed majorly, there's always something good. I miss the udon dish they used to have, but they brought a new one with coconut curry that's just as delicious. The drinks are great! It's a beautiful location and always very peaceful. Would recommend 100%.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
This place is so yummy! Had no idea they partnered with Salt and Soy! It is so fantastic! Def can't wait to come back and try the sushi!
google avatar

Tan Y.

Yelp
This is the first time that we have been here since the merger. The drinks, food, and service was great. The menu is not heavy. So you eat and drink and don't feel stuffed. Oh my is it flavorful... Dumplings, Fried Rice, Captain Crunch Roll, and Kamala Roll...all winners!

Yelp
Visited this restaurant for about the fourth and final time last week. Had not been in some time and was disappointed to learn they had changed their menu. The place was empty inside. My party thought the food was bland and drinks were small. We won't be back. What a shame because we all loved Alchemy. My daughter had her bridal shower here a few years ago.

Grace B.

Yelp
Good food but way overpriced and the environment is ok, although it was good we will not be going back because of the price and because it's not amazing. The customer Service was good.

Colleen M.

Yelp
There's a reason it's empty on a Saturday night. Consistency is gone. Bartenders are terrible. Would not recommend.

Yelp
I had a great experience with this place. I was planning a proposal and reached out about using their private dining room for the occasion. A manager, Sage, was so helpful and accommodating in trying to plan, and everything turned out perfectly because of the awesome staff here. It goes a long way to have good people like this coming to our neighborhoods and creating places where people can make memories over good food and drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We went to alchemy for happy hour on the Fourth of July weekend. Server was pleasant and very attentive. We enjoyed the cocktails and had five or six appetizers. Enjoyed those as well. Definitely enjoyed it and would recommend it to anybody.
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
Ambience is pretty chill, but as ppl roll in, it can get lively in an excellent way. All of the bartenders are great and attentive. Table service has been excellent the few times I have indulged. I prefer bar seating here. My favorites are the Hound Dog and Old Fashioned which I usually customize. One of the best happy hours and when I do come outside during the week, this is my spot or in consideration. Parking is usually pretty good and when it's not, it's the fault of ppl already parked. Lol!! Check it out if you haven't already!

Yelp
Best place in midtown. Good food, good drinks, service is the best and quick. Close to many other locations as well. And classsssy

Yelp
Memorable. Whether a seasonal creation or a classic cocktail, the drinks here are sublime. Couldn't ask for better mixology or friendlier bar staff. Highly recommend (and the food's excellent to boot!).

Yelp
I was super happy about being able to call them and they squeezed me in for Mother's Day brunch. The server was super nice and accommodating; Very attentive and made sure we were okay. The menu was small. I looked up the menu before I came and I was planning to get the shrimp and grits and my little girl wanted waffles but neither was on the bunch menu. I wished they had at least one dessert but nothing sweet on the menu after your meal. The food wasn't bad but was really basic type of stuff and plating; ambiance is a bar vibe. The bar takes up most of the space and is in the center of the restaurant. They have a variety of seating from the standard restaurant tables that seat four, booths, high tops, bar seating and window seats. They also have no gender bathrooms. The music they played made me super relaxed. It was my first time here but I can see it being slightly clubby. Not too bad tho.

Karen G.

Yelp
Our party of 6 enjoyed our visit at Alchemy last week. The entire staff was professional in dress and manner. The waitress was very calm and attentive, even though it was a very busy time. She was available for our questions and was prompt in serving our appetizers and drinks. The crab rangoon and Brussels "Okonomiyaki" sprouts were a hit with our group. Thanks to Aaron for mixing our drinks, especially the Memphis Jam! Kudos to Sage and the staff for a relaxing and delightful time! We will be back!

Sara K.

Yelp
There were 4 of us with a 6pm reservation. Service was off. I got my entree first, two others got their entree about 15 minutes later and our 4th person got their entree about 20 mins after that and after all of us were done eating. They ended up giving the 4th entree to us for half price due to the wait. There were only two other tables eating food so not sure why the service was so slow. The food was average, not great. I would not go again.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and sat outside. The fries were plentiful but they weren't that good and were served kind of lukewarm. The sauce that came with it seem heavy on the Mayo side. The chicken sandwich had a hot honey sauce that wasn't bad, the bun could've been a little softer. Can't remember the drink but it was really good, everyone seem to order it. The service wasn't bad, drinks are half off during happy hour & I think 20% off select food items. I prob would just come for drinks if it's not happy hour.
google avatar

Yelp
So happy Alchemy got to open back up!!! One of my favorite places in town to grab drinks, especially during their happy hour. Our server was super nice and informative. The ambiance is not too loud, dark and romantic, love the actual bar. The Clementine is basically the best orange juice I've ever had, and it's because it has alcohol in it. It's super refreshing, slightly sweet, and makes me want to be on the beach sipping it. Their pear drink was more Prosecco than any other flavors so I didn't really care for it. The truffled deviled eggs are a must have. They're creamy and rich, and the smoked salmon is a nice bonus. The ham and cheese anancini is okay, not a lot going on with it. I'd skip them. The cheeseburger sliders are to die for honestly. Juicy, tender, well seasoned. Get it with a side of their aioli. The entrees were decent proportions and delicious. I would highly recommend the duck. It was succulent. All in all, come here for the drinks and ambiance, and stay for the good food.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and right off the bat for an awesome and refreshing cocktail. The hound dog is a for sure must try cocktail. Their old fashioned was really good too. Ordered a few items, got the papas bravas, shrimp etouffee, and the pork belly. The pork belt on top of the baguette was really good, wish the bread was toasted though. It was too much soft on soft feel, but that whipped Ricotta was the star of that dish. The papas came half cold and half hot, which made me think they were heated in a microwave or something. Our waitress took that hiccup and fixed it right way, the second time they were delicious. The shrimp etouffee was amazing, seasoned well and perfectly spicy.

Yelp
I always get the "Goldie Likes" when I come to Alchemy! The place is always clean and the staff is great! This time we had Sage and he was very attentive. The food has not grown on me yet but I will try something else the next time I go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Cocktails and fries? Finally got the chance to visit a well known cocktail bar @alchemymemphis . They have well made crafted cocktails with a limited food menu but hey who needs food when you can get some great drinks! If you are looking for a great happy hour you need to go to Alchemy for alll your cocktail needs
google avatar

Ace D.

Yelp
Best cocktails this side of the Mississippi. Service is great and fries are straight fire. Recommend getting their Manhattan and Whiskey Sour.
google avatar

Carolyn A.

Yelp
Great service! Mary made a few recommendations, and the result was excellent. Best fries I've had in a while. The chicken and dumplings were like coq au vin had dumplings. Probably the best I've ever had, including the version I make. Decent portions, much better for sharing than some teeny tapas places. While I'd put the drinks I had as good not great, I'd happily return to find the perfect drink while I kept tying more of their excellent food.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Great cocktails and Gastroenerologist with indoor and out door seating. Happy hour is a fantastic deal. A lot of thought has gone into these cocktails, and the food is just as good. Standouts we're the tuna tatami and the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, probably the best I've had anywhere.
google avatar

Jacob M.

Yelp
The food is great, ambience is very chill, and service is great. Happy hour is the best in town. They also have the best temperature water of any bar period. It's an absolutely perfect combination of cold but doesn't require any ice. It's like a fresh glacial spring poured straight into a glass. Aaron the bartender deserves a raise!
google avatar

Yelp
This was not the restaurant we planned to have brunch at this Sunday but SO FRIGGIN GLAD we did. We originally planned to go to The Beauty Shop Restaurant. It was booked with reservations (honestly looked lack luster when we went in) and our wait would have been an hour despite tables being open. Anyway, we walked a few minutes up the street and found Alchemy. The food was GREAT. Their grits rival the best I've had in Nashville. My food was cooked to perfection. The hub's poutine wasn't what he expected but tasted phenomenal. Our Irish Coffees were, in fact, the best (as stated on the menu) that we'd ever had. And, their staff t-shirts were so cool we bought one. Definitely try this place.

Yelp
Accommodated our party of 18 so well! Kind waitress and quick service for our party size. Drinks were good and food was too!
google avatar

Mackensey C.

Yelp
Stopped in this cute bar on our way through town. Had a beautiful bar and good vibe as we got there right at the end of happy hour. My thoughts are: - The food was just ok and overpriced. Our sliders are the only thing we would get again if we came back! The beet hummus was very strange - while each element was good, the crostini was cold when I was hoping it would be warm and toasted, the roasted chickpeas were also cold and not crispy but instead chewy and stale. -We each had three drinks - our first round was great! We got the same drinks drinks our third round and they tasted completely different and much too sweet. So overall inconsistent!
google avatar

Trenika M.

Yelp
Love the atomsphere and Alchemy is nice and spacious! Had brunch here recently and the food was good! Everything was seasoned well i mean down to the breakfast potatoes. They need no ketchup! Lol Bottles of champagne with $20 and came with a small carafe of juice! Brunch is every Sunday! They have a good happy hour too
google avatar

Victoria J.

Yelp
Food was presented well but I think the portions could have been bigger for the price.
google avatar

Kaitlin B.

Yelp
I feel like I've been giving this place short shrift and for that I apologize. Had brunch today, the fried chicken Benedict was delicious. My partner got the Homeplace pork chop and it was bigger than his head. Also a big fan of the musical selection (e.g., E.L.O, Abba, Dolly). Our server Michael was a delight. As far as criticism, the coffee was burnt -- those big industrial carafes are not reliable. Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're searching for the best happy hour in Memphis - look no further! But here's the best part: these drinks are well worth full price if you aren't able to make happy hour. Monday - Friday happy hour is 4pm-6pm which gives you: HALF OFF (50%!!!) all their signature and seasonal cocktails, half off almost all food items (excluding their main entrees) which includes some of my favorites: the edamame hummus and the MOUNTAIN of house fries that can totally count as a meal and on Saturday ALL DAY it's half off drinks! It's hard to beat that! My trips to Alchemy almost always involve sitting at the bar but they have tables with servers as well. You can make a reservation on their website which later in the evening, especially on the weekends, wouldn't be a bad idea - it fills up. I'm glad I don't work nearby because I know I'd end up grabbing an after work drink.... every day. My all time favorite cocktail anywhere is Alchemy's Main Street Shakedown - gin, ginger, cucumber, and lemon! I love trying their new seasonal menu whenever it comes out and I'm never disappointed by a drink here but by the end of the night I'm always back to drinking Shakedown's. The whole staff is fantastic. All the food I've tried is incredible and the bartender's are geniuses. If you aren't sure what to try first - talk to them and they'll lead you in the right direction! This is the perfect place for a first date, to catch up with old friends, or to celebrate birthdays with a group. They've got a small outdoor patio area which is lovely when the weather allows for it. It's located in Cooper Young so parking is always a gamble - they do have a small parking lot but it's normally hard to snag a spot. I'd recommend finding a street spot on Cooper once you get close! Alchemy - I love you!
google avatar

Kelsey G.

Yelp
I can't speak to the food as we just stopped for drinks but happy hour is half off all cocktails from 4-6 during the week and they are very YUMMY. Hoping we can come back to try the food sometime!
google avatar

Geoff M.

Yelp
Post-covid Alchemy is attempting to reclaim some sense of a happy hour and/or position in Cooper Young but hasn't quite worked out the kinks. The same standards in terms of its menu are here (though there are only drink specials, no food specials anymore), but the vibe is different.
google avatar

Faith D.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 4 years and they recently changed the menu. I understand that times have changed given the pandemic but they have removed the only great vegan option from their menu, the Edemame hummus! In addition they have incorrectly used the vegan V (the one with the leaf on the corner) next to items that they can make vegan by removing the main protein with no substitute to offer. I'm highly disappointed! They offer an avocado salad but it has no greens. The arugula salad that you could order with no meat of cheese is also gone. The fries are still there but as a vegan living in Cooper Young this was the nicest option for dinner and now it's just not!
google avatar

Madi L.

Yelp
Best happy hour in Midtown!! If it wasn't for happy hour, there food and drinks would be way too expensive. But almost EVERYTHING is half off during happy hour. (Minus entrees) Amazing food and a ton of choices. They have beer, cocktails, and much more!
google avatar

Lynette H.

Yelp
Loved loved loved it here! The vibe inside the restaurant was very calm but hip. The food was great. I went here with some coworkers and we just ordered a bunch of shareable plates. My favorites were the Brussel sprouts and crab cakes. We also ordered grilled cheese, fries, and all the dessert on their menu. ;) They have a great bar and an awesome beverages menu. I opted for prosecco but I could tell they had amazing craft cocktails. I love the decor here too. Minimal but still making a statement. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
*UPDATE* Attended a birthday party on Valentine's Day. Food has definitely been upgraded since the last time I've eaten at Alchemy! We had a 3-course pre-planned dinner that was amazing! 1st Course: I opted for Arugula Salad. The sweetie drip peppers were to die for! Only qualm was it needed extra dressing. Waitress said they put a "light dressing," but it tasted like absolutely nothing so I needed extra. 2nd Course: Duck Confit with a polenta. Yummy! 3rd Course: I chose Blueberry Bread Pudding (forgot your take picture) - it was perfect warm and crisp! My only "complaint" was there was only one server assigned to the entire party of 30-40 guests so it took forever to get drinks ordered.

Yelp
Alchemy During my visit to Alchemy on 25 September 2021, my guest were and I were served spoiled steak; it smelled horrible, looked ill-cooked, and tasted terrible! Yes, I tasted the food just to make sure I wasn't being too critical and after sending it back it was obvious by my server's (Sage) apologies that the "steak" should not have left the kitchen. I was a little confused as to how the chef/cook couldn't tell that the meat they'd cooked was spoiled and NOT worth serving! The following day I was sick and had a mild case of food poisoning. Outside of removing the entrees from my ticket, my guest and I were not compensated. It was my plan to email the restaurant manager by using the "contact us" section on the restaurant's website, but the link doesn't work. I've called, left a voicemail and have yet for someone to return my call (901)-726-4444! My next step is to go back to speak with someone in person because it is obvious their customer service is equivalent to the spoiled steak... bad!

Yelp
Alchemy is located on the main street within the Cooper Young district so it's up to chance if you are able to find street parking, but it should be possible within a 3-block distance. I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and was really impressed by the entire experience. The restaurant has plenty of space to accommodate different-sized parties, whether you choose to sit at the bar or need a room for 15+ people, as we had in our group. Keep in mind that for larger parties, a 20% gratuity is added automatically to the bill. For dinner, I had the duck confit. There were a few hits and misses in the dish. Some portions of it around the edges were tough and a bit over-seasoned, but the bulk of the duck was tender and had a delicious, mild flavor. The brussel sprouts that came with the dish were a bit tough, but forgivable. I tried a couple bites of other dishes as well, and can say that while the food is pretty good, the cocktails were the highlight of the evening. Each cocktail was unique and tasty. If you like fruity flavors like me, the Hound Dog and Goldie LIkes are great options. I definitely want to come back to Alchemy, especially to try their happy hour.

Yelp
Great food, vibe, and service, and amazing happy hour deals! We will definitely be back

Yelp
You know we hadn't eaten here in a while and I was interested to see if the service and food was holding up quality wise. We got there during happy hour and as a result the first 30 minutes was a bit loud. With that said, if I were looking for a jumpin' happy hour with lots of pretty people hanging out having fun...this seemed to be the place. Shortly after the drink special ended it mellowed a bit to a nice audio level...loud enough that others couldn't hear what we were saying but no so loud as to have to yell to each other. I had the sirloin and it had a nice crust on it but not overdone, the potatoes were perfect. My wife had the black bass which she liked the taste but said it had a few bones that made it difficult to eat. All in all we left super happy and I could see us back here again soon.

Yelp
I like this atmosphere!!!!There are happy hours!Drink half price!!We ate duck and fish!Yum

Yelp
LOVED their take on watermelon!!! I never knew that was a thing that needed to be improved. But now I know I've been eating it wrong the whole time. If you don't add sesame seeds and some weird vinaigrette, then why even eat the already delicious fruit. Went with the waitress's recommendation on what drink to get. It was called the Hound Dog (how did you know my nickname in high school???) Waitress was definitely sending Jimi signals when she wrote a big "THANKS!" on the check. I drew a winky face in return 5 stars

Yelp
This will always be one of my favorite places. Between the good service and great food it is hard to beat. The menu was recently updated and is surprisingly even better than it previously was. Additionally they have a wide variety of mixed drinks to choose from. Make sure to check them out during happy hour!

Mark M.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday night and it felt like they had the all tables split by two waiters and then a bartender so service was tremendously slow. One of us ordered a wedge salad and after an hour we asked where was it and had to ask again after another 30min before finally asking for it to-go. For a $12 salad it was quite literally a 1/4 slice of a head of lettuce with barely any adding a on it. Would not recommend this. I got the wings which were pretty good. The table ordered the $24 charcuterie board which was disappointingly small (sorry no pic) and seemed way overpriced. Maybe just stick to drinks there you enjoy your experience?
