I really love this spot. The first time we came it was just for drinks and it felt cozy and private. The second time we came it was for an early dinner before the game. The food was good and well portioned. The drinks here are great, they have some unique cocktails. Service was really nice and everyone was happy to answer all our questions. Insta: @TheShahLALand

This place was disappointing. We came for the backyard brunch and vegan menu options. The backyard was visually appealing with a lovely arched pergola and plenty of seating but the kitchen fan is soooo loud it killed the ambiance. It was a beautiful day and no one was outside. You have to raise your voice to be heard over it. We moved inside happy to have a menu with a vegan brunch option. Unfortunately that fell flat too. I had ordered scrambled tofu with spinach and mushrooms, onion and tomatoes. What I got was cubed tofu with spinach, onions and peppers. The tofu was not scrambled and was minimally seasoned making my brunch bland and unpalatable. I left more than half of my food on the plate and filled up on French fries. It was pretty to look at but had no flavor even with hot sauce. Is it too much to ask for vegan food that has flavor? Told the waitress my food’s was not as ordered she apologetically gave me my iced coffee on the house. The iced coffee was good,nice and strong. The Bloody Mary wasn’t bad either. My partner, an omnivore, said his food was ok but nothing he was excited about. I doubt we’ll return any time soon. We both left unsatisfied.

On a whim, the 3 of us just walked in to Alchemy; never heard of it but that night was frigid and this place was open and had a table. We chose different items and had drinks, expecting mediocre food at best. Fantastic surprise at how tasty everything was; delicious enough to not leave any crumbs! We raved about our meals to a couple we know and they, too, raved at how often they dine there. We’ll all be back!

The food and drinks are delicious! I had the crispy artichoke salad which was also delicious (forgot to take a picture), highly recommend the hanger steak. I will definitely go back to try their other items.

A friend recommended Alchemy and I have to admit I was worried because of some negative reviews that I read before going but I'm glad to report that in my experience, none of that was true. They do get busy when there are events at Barclay's center and it was on a Friday night ( 11/7/25) that we went but the staff was able to manage everything nicely. The vibe was nice, the service was great, the staff were attentive , the drinks were good and the food was great. I had the calamari, it was really good. I highly recommend the hanger steak with the mash and sauteed kale, it was very delicious. We tried their sticky stout pudding for dessert and enjoyed it , they also make a great and I mean great cappuccino. I will definitely visit again.

Charming little tavern, friendly service, fun brunch menu, and a very impressive French Martini 🍸 But they really had me at their Sticky toffee pudding . Winning, Alchemy!

Everything from start to finish is incredible: best meal and service in quite some time. Highly recommend!!!! We did brunch and just damn. So good.

We stopped in for a bite while running some errands and were so happy we did. The bartender was super friendly and made a great cocktail. The fried chicken has its own section on the menu and for good reason. I got the fried chicken sandwich and my partner got the combo. Would return just for the cocktail or for the chicken - definitely recommend a stop in!

5th Ave is becoming a restaurant destination! Just wander down and pop in. Welcoming atmosphere, upscale menu, friendly people.

My friend who lives in the hood loves coming here. I have been here previously and thought well of the place. Today it was lackluster in all respects. We were served with filthy glasses that contained lipstick stains from a former patron. We asked for new glasses and we received new (slightly less) but still dirty glasses. Service was not friendly and very very slow. The food was lackluster and nothing memorable about our brunch. The food wasn't bad per se, but the long wait times, disappointing service, dirty glasses and minimal effort from staff really left a bad taste for me. It's a definite pass in coming here again.

We visited Alchemy after attending the Tandon commencement at Barclays Center. The streets were filled with purple gowns and celebratory energy, and we stumbled upon this restaurant nearby. Due to the sudden influx of guests, the staff was unexpectedly busy, but they handled it with grace. A kind hostess quickly arranged an outdoor table for us. The setting had a charming New York character--cozy red brick walls and old fire escape stairs added to the ambiance, giving it an authentic city feel. Despite the crowd, service was efficient. We started with corn chips and avocado sauce, crispy French fries, and tender fried squid rings--all of which paired perfectly with a bottle of Cava sparkling wine. For mains, the pan-fried salmon was beautifully done: crispy on the outside, tender and fresh on the inside, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. The flavors were well balanced and satisfying. The burger was equally impressive, with juicy beef, a crispy-on-the-outside and fluffy-on-the-inside bun, and fresh lettuce and tomato that brought the whole dish together. What truly surprised us was the price--remarkably reasonable for the quality and location. A bottle of Cava was just $39, and the total bill for five people came to $300. Considering the delicious food, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere, we left feeling happy and satisfied--ending our commencement day on a perfect note.

After the Nets game, Alchemy was the perfect place to relax. The vibe was cool and welcoming, and the service was fast and friendly. A great spot to hang out after the game!

A small quaint bar . The drinks were great . Great to stop by . The food was good and came out quickly . The sticky toffee dessert is a must order . Very sweet and pairs well with an espresso martini .

I was extremely satisfied to eat at this restaurant in beautiful Parkslope Brooklyn NY. My salmon was perfectly grilled with delish french fries and yummy sautéed garlic spinach and an excellent meal. I had a delicious non alcoholic warm apple cider the spices were blended together with a lovely taste of cinnamon. The service was excellent our server was lovely certainly knowing the menu very well. The ambiance was perfect not noisy so all in our party can talk to one another.

The service (with the exception of the busser) was awful. I was mostly ignored. Asked almost pejoratively about the type of water I wanted. Food was not very good and made me sick. Location is a standard pub style feeling w menus on qr codes.

I stumbled upon this quaint little place in Park Slope . As you walk in the place is super cozy , warm and inviting . I have been craving some mussels for a while and let's just say that my cravings have been satiated . I will definitely come back to try the rest of the food on the menu .

Alchemy: a power or process that transforms or changed something in a mysterious or impressive way. I will say that Alchemist's neighborhood, lower 5th Avenue in Park Slope to be exact, continues to impress myself as a foodie. I'm always looking for somewhere new to dine. Thus, tonight my friend wanted to eat comfort food in a new place. I bookmarked Alchemist after a recent post BKLYN Larder visit. Alchemy offers some really good comfort food from soups, salads, burgers and more. The bar is really comfy and a good place to be on a hot steamy night or a cold wintry one. The seating as well is comfortable; one knows she will be here awhile. We dined on the following: 1. Herbed Caesar Salad: two can share, light and tasty dressing with croutons 2. Burgers: my friend ordered the burger with cheddar and fries and really enjoyed it. I ordered the turkey burger ( brioche bun can be substituted for gluten) with fries and greens. The turkey burger was good, tasty but not the best I've had. The fries were good and best of all not greasy. So why four stars? The service was good but I politely ask as I always do, to please give us time to eat appetizer and then bring our food. Well, we were half way through our salad and the burgers arrived. I understand when a restaurant is really busy, but @7pm they were not, so why the rush? We didn't drink due to going elsewhere for cocktails but I will say I'll go back to sit at that bar and drink the night away. Park Slope continues to perform alchemy; the restaurants opening or have been solid establishments for some time, continue to amaze me.

So I went right around 5 pm on a Tuesday, it was fairly empty ( which I love) but service was still shit. I don't know if this was a bias thing because I was the only colored person at the time. Then someone else came, obviously mixed and the look the bar tender gave her.... Was the.... Ugh..... another one... I felt that in my soul. ( we know the look when we see it) drink, mediocre, nothing special. I had fries with aioli, and some sort of watered down iced tea. It did what it was supposed to.. I also waited 30 minutes for a napkin to be offered. Coming from hospitality, if you get food, napkins are a given.

Was here for dinner. Ordered just two dishes. Main - hanger steak ($28). Was cooked nicely, very tender. The butter and mashed potatoes complemented the steak, but I didn't enjoy the kale too much. Dessert - sticky stout pudding ($11). Didn't have much expectations, but it was unexpectedly very good and warm. Maybe just a tad too sweet for me... Apart from the food, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere - a very romantic tone with the dim lighting. The servers are nice and come every so often to ask if we need anything. And the two restrooms are kept very clean.

Excellent Salad, Excellent Fries, So-So Veggie Burger. So glad to see a veggie burger on the menu. Being vegan on a business trip to New York, I'm happy that places have at least one thing a vegan can eat from their menu. Nowadays everyone does an Impossible Burger, which are terrific. But Alchemy still does it the old-fashioned way, making their own in-house. Tasty for sure, but didn't hold together, as pretty much all house-made burgers don't. Had to finish it by scooping up the remains of the burger with a fork and knife. I liked the salad and fries much better. So while I don't mind that they are not following the crowd and switching to Impossible Burgers, I do wish they could find a way to keep their in-house veggie burger together better. Still, high praise for offering 1 main entree a vegan can purchase!

The fish tacos special was supposed to have salmon and cod, however there were only a few small tasteless morsels in each taco. My daughter ordered the ravioli. The bowl was filled with dried out ravioli that were hard and in a pool of oil. She ate one ravioli and told the waiter that the dish was not edible. The waiter said that he would tell the chef but he didn't offer to replace the dish or adjust the check. The restaurant wasn't busy but the service was very slow. I won't be returning

Yummy cocktails and a good selection of beers and ciders. The food is also pretty decent. The burgers are a solid option, but the fries is a must. The Belgium style fries are perfectly crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and always nicely salted. Pair them along with some of their sauces/aioli's and you got yourself the perfect snack to go with your beverages. The brunch options are pretty standard and made well! The staff is always super friendly and quick with service.

Food is not spectacular, but it does the job. Drinks were amazing, and staff was quite friendly.

Stopped by for lunch with a friend. We sat outside in the back to keep away from people. I loved that they have two separate outdoor seating sections. Each table was separated with plexiglass and has a heater. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It came with bacon, arugula, pickled onions and a garlic mayo. It was delicious, I wish the chicken came out hotter, it was a bit cold by the time it got to me but it was really really good. French fries and a side salad come with the plate. The salad was basic, a little overdressed. The fries were great. They stayed crispy and I got a side of the garlic mayo that was on my sandwich to dip them into. Yum!! Highly suggest getting the mayo!

Covid Review! Theres 3 separated booths with plastic curtains and a heating lamp. Despite the setup its still a little brisk on a cold night, but its one of the warmer places youll find in the surrounding areas. The ambiance is quite nice since its a change from home dining, but you can still hear your neighbors conversations since the dividers are not perfect seals. They have contactless menus and comforting food. I got the sheperds pie and my partner got the salmon entree. They both tasted great and were a good portion but were just a little off the mark. Couldve been seasoned a little heavier and just a touch of dessert wouldve been the perfect amount of food. Overall very satisfied with the experience and thankful for a fresh pint of beer.

we stumbled upon this place while starving after being out all day. this was just what we needed. food for everyone. gf & vegan options. we all ended up getting burger/sandwiches. we had the beef burger, turkey burger, veggie burger, and the grilled chicken sandwich. the veggie burger is made in house and was my favorite by far. i got the grilled chicken sandwich on a gf bun and it was delish. it came with so many pickled onions yum and it had crispy bacon! all of these came with fries and a salad. salad was done perfectly. simple but good. and everyone loved the fries!

Place was great. It has a bar set up when you walk in. Welcoming feel to it. Tv at the bar area. Then when you pass through you have a comfortable area for a date night. Especially before a Nets game. Lol. The food was excellent. I can't wait to go back. See you soon.

Super delish. Their mac and cheese was incredible and the chorizo and eggs were perfect. You have to get the sticky toffee pudding as well!

A great neighborhood restaurant with a friendly ambiance, good food, and excellent service. My friend and I had a casual lunch. This was an ideal place to catch up. We had different burgers with fries. The fries were prepared with care and tasted that way. The gluten-free buns, the best we've ever had. Even without the excellent food, Alchemy is a place for hanging out and getting to know the neighborhood. Looking forward to going back in the evening to indulge in some craft cocktails.

Really good food that's affordable and has big portion sizes. Great ambiance and kind staff!

I like Alchemy, but I want it to be great. It's the neighborhood bar and with Park Slope being the neighborhood, it's a hit or miss for vibes. But most often a miss. This isn't your swanky, singles bar or your sultry spot for a nightcap. It's your 5th Ave tavern with decent food (try the rigatoni) and drinks and a handful of might be generational locals and post-Barclays events stragglers. The drinks are made well and my summer favorite is the strawberry margarita. The Gin Smith is a nice mix with pear purée and rosemary. I've walked by many nights to a rather empty bar. It could be the effects of the never ending pandemic, but other neighboring bars seem to still attract more of a crowd.

Nice and cozy American style brunch spot. Bar style burger, simple and delicious. Service is very good, waiters are decent.

It's a cute place but the food is just lacking. I don't think I will ever order truffle fries ever again from any restaurant because these were traumatizing. I will taste truffle oil for a week. You get better fried chicken from the supermarket. Musses were unbelievably bland. Calamari was good but nothing to rave about. If I'm back in Brooklyn, I'll eat somewhere else.

I've been here 3 times and the food is pretty bland but not worth writing about -- except for the garlic fries, which are aggressively garlicky. The last 2 times I went the service was good - woman behind the bar during happy hour in the summer was pleasant and helpful. Visited today and had a bad enough time to write about it. While drinking a pretty bad Pinot Grigio on the patio a rat came up from the kitchen and up the steps towards the main bar / restaurant area - presumably from the open bus tub filled with discarded food or from the trash bags under the steps. Not a HUGE deal in NYC, I rationalized. Moved myself inside and discretely mentioned it to the bartender who brought his total word count to 4 with an "ok" before turning around and going back to the bar. Took 2 bites of a horrible butternut squash soup, paid a wasted $20, and left. Wouldn't recommend for food, drink, atmosphere, hygiene, or service.

I came here to get appetizers and drinks before a basketball game. They start you off with some fried chickpeas which I thought was lovely and very yummy. The place it's a wood and brick interior and wooden tables. They have happy hour drinks and food. When it's warmer there are outdoor seating. I would recommend this for a quick bite and if you're looking for somewhere cozy. The staff here were great they are open for breakfast lunch and dinner. The atmosphere was very casual so it was perfect because we wanted something quick I ordered some wings and calamari both were good. This place is great for groups and family.

Came in for dinner and drinks before a show. Sat at the bar for a brew and got the Rigatoni with sausage which was delicious! Our server/bartender Ryan was the absolute best. Would come back in a heartbeat!

I went to brunch on the weekday here and had a great time. The food was good, the drinks were better, and the service was the best. If I'm in this area and want to grab a quick drink, I would come here again.

Came here after Sugarcane laughed in our face when we asked for outdoor dining and it was a great decision. Our server was super sweet and patient with us. He had glasses and from what I could see above the mask he kinda reminded me of Macaulay Culkin (I hope he isn't offended by that lol). I ordered stout pancakes with the pear cider and my date ordered a burger and fries with the IPA. It was very comforting with overhead heaters and soft lighting within your little booth. They dropped off a candle about 30 mins in. I was a little concerned when I realized that the plexiglass had an opening up top that connected to the other booths. I feel like it should be completely enclosed off. I did enjoy my food and would come back.

I am a hardworking Teacher and today during my break I decided to call in and pick up I want to emphasize that I picked up my lunch. I drove to this location from crown heights. My coworker asked for an extra garlic aioli and he explained that he usually charges but would ask the question to put it on the side. When receiving I bill we did not tip because once again we did not stay, it was a pick up orders. The bartender who was also the white male that greeted us and gave us the sauce was extremely upset that we did not tip him. I have never in life picked up an order and was harassed or made to feel bad for not tipping for a pick up order that I drove to get! He aggressively told us that we don't know about the service industry and that he got us free sauce. We were in so much shock and offered to pay for the side of sauce. This was a horrible experience and unfortunately we will no longer be eating here again or doing any further business. This was a restaurant I suggested to my job, to use for catering now that will never happen! Horrible horrible experience you should be ashamed of yourself. Tips are not mandatory and especially for a pick up order! Very bold and disgraceful I will be posting my review on all platforms.

Spent so much time looking for the perfect spot for a Thanksgiving dinner. We came into town to spend a few days with my son who has been quite isolated. Wanted something very COVID friendly.... outside.... covered yet open on the sides for good ventilation with plastic dividers in-between tables. And, the food had to be good as well as a diverse beer selection on draft. Bingo - Alchemy nailed it on all counts. The prix fix menu consisted of dark and white meat turkey (so moist), mashed potatoes with gravy, roasted brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce and stuffing. My son didn't want turkey so was able to order off the regular menu. Pumpkin pie was thin and just ok, but how can I complain when I was full anyway (I ate it) and the rest of the meal and experience was perfect, Thank you Alchemy!

just tired Ro go here, on google is says they're open until 12 midnight. I live across the park and went hoping to get some food. the whole place was closed. the dude told me I was wrong but it's still on google that they're open late. it was annoying.

Great spot for a morning breakfast meeting. Good coffee. Attentive not overbearing service. And the Swiss breakfast is amazing!

I stopped by Alchemy with a couple a friends before attending the Nets game. There was a pretty extensive list of cocktails, local drafts, and wines on the menu. Given that this was a precursor to our actual meal, we just ordered a few appetizers and drinks. The fried calamari with pomodoro sauce was disappointing. Although it had a good crunch factor, there was barely any calamari; all I tasted was the fried breading. The pomodoro sauce was nothing to write home about. In hindsight, we should have opted for the chipotle mayo sauce. We also ordered two sets of french fries. One was topped with truffle parmesan and another topped with garlic and herb. Similar to the calamari, this wasn't anything mind-blowing, but it got the job done. We came during happy hour (M-F 3-6PM) and got a couple of dollars off our bill which was nice. Overall, Alchemy is good place to grab a couple of drinks, but I would pass on the food.

Overall **** for this place. Food **** I had the eggs Norwegian. They come with fries and side salad. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too thick but the dish overall had taste. My friend had the pancake. They were fluffy and perfectly gold brown. They were a bit too dry though. Drinks **** Good choices for wine and alcohol drinks. I have the apple cider and the chocolate. Both good but not great. Service **** Even though the waiter and waitress seem a bit all over the place the service was ok. They forgot my friend's scrambled eggs but brought then right away as soon as we reminded them. Our was super nice by giving us free mini muffins before our meals and free for our last round of drinks. Decor/ambiance **** Thr place is very cute overall with tables and both and a bar right at the entrance.

I love this place. I love the casual atmosphere and rustic aesthetic. I love that there's always a seat at the bar available and it's not crazy loud. I love that the cocktails aren't too sweet (and they're strong!). I love that the food is very good, not fussy but still quite interesting. I love that the staff is always super friendly. I've never had a bad experience here, and I've been several times. Give them a try!

Bartenders are friendly. Drinks hit, will definitely sneak up on you. Fried chicken sandwich was good. Doesn't come with sides so you have to order a side. They have happy hour deals. And have brunch every day.

3.5 if I could leave a half star! Small cute bar feel that serves food and had great specials. Serves were very friendly and helpful. Got the Tuesday mussel special (red sauce) they were good but the red sauce was bland, but it's a bar and it was $6 what else do you expect. Also got the short ribs and they were tender and very yummy. Overall great prices and decent menu and amazing specials! But it is a bar and this is bar food.

I am not normally one to take the time to write reviews. However, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how great some of the staff at Alchemy can be. My husband, kids and I don't come in as regularly as we used to, since we've moved a bit further away. We've noticed that there are usually a lot of new faces on staff whenever we do come in. We were a bit wary of returning since our last experience at Alchemy with a rude bartender was not great, but after a few weeks, we decided to give it another try. This week we came in on a Wednesday for dinner when they were still in the thick of what was apparently a wave of Barclay's concert-goers. Our waitress, Shannon, ~who we have enjoyed being served by on the occasional weekend brunch as well~ never made us feel rushed, stressed, or like we were waiting too long. Every time she serves us, she always has a smile on her face, is very attentive to the kiddos, and kindly and thoroughly answers our requests for recommendations. The cocktails at Alchemy are always amazing (we love the Smokey Paloma!) and the food can be hit-or-miss (the beef burgers and steak tend to be overcooked often, but the veggie burgers and the Alchemy Shells and Cheese never fail us!). The staff does seem to change a lot, but Shannon has always been a delightful, professional member of the Alchemy crew for us to interact with, and always reminds us of why we want to come back!

Went there on a very busy night and had great food, quick service. Looking forward to visiting again if I'm in the area.

This was a great family spot (hello kids menu!) and had some good beer you can't find in other places. My husband liked the fried chicken, I enjoyed the soup, and we could have a conversation without too much loud noise.

Don't even think of visiting this place if you are older. Waiter told us that we could scan the code if we wanted to see the menu. I couldn't figure out how to do it so I couldn't order. When I said that I was leaving for this reason, he just commented "Thanks for visiting." Paid eight dollars for two dishwater coffees but at least I know not to return.

I've been here twice now, once a year ago for drinks and an appetizer and once recently for an actual meal. I was very happy both times. Our food came out excellent, service was good, they had a decent amount of seating, well spaced, and it had a tent cover in case of inclement weather! We ordered the calamari to split, I ordered the hanger steak with mashed potatoes and kale, and then we split the flourless chocolate cake and an apple pie dessert a la mode. Everything was really, really good!

I always come to Alchemy and I do really enjoy. The restaurant is always very neat and has a good layout for the small space. The waitress was a little rude and not very attentive. It was a little busier than usual so maybe she was stressed but the restaurant wasn't even half full. The food took a very long time to get to our table, maybe there is only one cook? The food is very tasty and I have ordered many things from the menu and it is always delicious.
