"Sequim’s Alder Wood Bistro pairs a warm small-town atmosphere with a genuinely inventive menu. The kitchen makes full use of its wood-fired oven to roast clams, fish, and sometimes novel, always tasty pizzas. Without much fanfare or pretension, this spot serves up some of the finest food on the peninsula." - Matthew Lombardi, Eater Staff

What started as a quick pizza takeout ended with some of the best pizza I've had in PNW! Excellent flavor, texture on the crust, great salad. Highly recommend checking this place out. We only tried the pepperoni mushroom olive but the ingredients were super fresh and tasty. Went back and had a sit-down dinner, tried the local mussels, salmon, and a lemon shaker pie. All of it was flavorful and perfectly cooked.

Friendly, welcoming staff. My friend and I shared the vegetable fritters. It was an amazing melange of flavors and colors. I literally tasted the rainbow in every bite. I followed with the meatloaf. I was really excited about mashed potatoes, but the leafy vegetables were the high point. Everything was amazing. My friend enjoyed a wood fired pizza.

Wow! My wife and I met a lady in Bainbridge Island that highly recommended this place. We showed up for dinner the day after Valentine's and they were still doing their Valentine's menu. My wife did the special menu and I got a pizza. The pizza was outstanding. My wife loved her 4 course meal. The drinks and dessert were amazing. Everything is made fresh, from scratch. We got a loaf of their sourdough bread as well. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. We sat outside but the heaters and blankets kept us very warm. We will return!

The truffle fries were to die for! Too good. Sicilian pizza was one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had in our lives, even better than the ones in Italy. Cocktails were above average. Salad was also phenomenal. The only thing I didn’t like was the kimchi, didn’t have much flavor to it aside from being pickled.. pretty far off from authentic kimchi.

Google
Stella little place! Stopped here on our way back from a day of hiking. Busy but extra seating with heated propane heaters on a covered patio outside. Our server was super attentive and knew the menu inside and out. Cedar planked salmon is a slam dunk - fresh, and served with crushed up purple potatoes, veggies and a lemon aioli dipping sauce. Sublime! The mushroom Bianca pizza is also great. And the chocolate dessert - delicious. Not too big - but decadent and the raspberry really gives it a pop. The perfect not too heavy finish and good to split! Highly recommend this place.

Google
Fantastic place for dinner. Date night made memorable by delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. The entrées are beautifully balanced, portions just right, greens are sautéed to perfection! Such a good smell every time someone gets served, it makes the mouth water. Lots of locally sourced products and wines, nice ambiance with some water features and a real grape vine surrounding the garden. Kind service from start to end, pretty reasonable waiting time. Suggest to book a table a few hours in advance or try and call before heading there, there’s a risk of being booked out! Can’t wait to go back!

Google
The food was amazing and the dining experience was superb! I had pizza and the sourdough crust was baked perfectly and toppings & sauce had a great flavor. My sister had the halibut dish and she said it was delicious! For dessert we shared the lemon shaker pie and it was outstanding!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had been to the Bistro about 5 years ago and had an amazing meal. Today, we drove all the way up from Chehalis to have dinner. We had 4:00 reservations, the first seating. The restaurant was basically empty, and the next group in, with a baby and a dog, were seated right next to us, definitely ruined the mood. We both ordered the king salmon. At best, it was just average, my wife's salsa topping was bland, and my truffle butter was non-existent. The sides, potatoes and vegetables were barely lukewarm, and we were the first seating of the night.

Yelp
Lovely little bistro in Sequim. Service was impeccable. Everything our party of 8 ordered was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! Fine dining quality food in a relaxed, casual setting. Be sure to make reservations, they were fully booked on a Thursday evening. Such a lucky find for our final evening in Sequim!

Jolene K.

Yelp
Found this place on the internet, and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed by an amazing, professional and friendly staff. While reservations are recommended, they were able to accommodate our party of 5 with about a 15-minute wait. We were seated in these beautiful, cozy outdoor seating area surrounded by a lovely flower garden and fire stands to keep us warm. They also provided these cozy lap blankets, if necessary. Once seated, our waitress, Libby, was quick to respond with a carafe of lemon water, menus and review of the day's specials. She knew our group hasn't seen one another in over 10 years, so she was patient with us in catching up while perusing the menu. They offered a plethora of vegan and vegetarian options (something that has been difficult for me to find since being in the Olympic Peninsula). We ordered a Root vegetable Fritter for appetizers (sorry, forgot to take a picture). It was superb and crunchy. For entrees, we ordered the King Salmon (special of the night), Veggie Fritter 'lasagna', Panelle Tower (chickpea polenta), and vegan herbivore pizza. It was absolutely amazing in everything we tried. Can't even describe but worth every bite. We finished up the night with some desserts: raspberry sorbet, a lemon pie (to die for), and a dark chocolate ganache dessert with vanilla bean ice cream. This night was a fabulous way to reconnect with old friends while wrapping up a week-long trek through the Olympic National Park. Thank you, Libby, for helping make tonight's night a great one. If in town, we will stop here again!

Yelp
I can't even begin to state how great this restaurant is. We are local residents and It was our first time to visit last night with a couple of friends. We are vegan and we're very pleased with the unique flavor of our herbivore pizza. A dish that sounded delicious couldn't be modified to vegan so our incredible server, Libby, suggested asking Gabriel, the chef, if he could make a 'Panelle Tower' (not on the menu' which I had no idea what that would be but I wholeheartedly agreed! So good!) Bottom line this restaurant is way more than we expected and encourage everyone to go see for themselves. Very high points for the vegan friendly options! Service= five stars Food= five stars Chef= five stars Atmosphere = five stars

Yelp
I absolutely adore Alder Wood Bistro! Have been a few times since moving to town, and beyond impressed every time. The calamari is some of the absolute best I've ever had, the cocktails are always fresh and delicious, and there's such creative and delicious specials! Trying the truffle fries, some pizza, and the lemon pie for dessert are all MUSTS! Incredible and impeccable service, a gorgeous setting and ambiance, and a thoughtful and delightful menu. Can't wait to keep coming back for more :) Chef Gabriel and the rest of the kitchen staff are just so amazing at what they do!

Rick G.

Yelp
We are regulars and eat here regularly. Fresh from farm, garden and sea to table. Probably our best upscale restaurant in town.

Yelp
Was in the mood for good wood fired pizza and this place did not disappoint! Came by right when they opened and ordered the mushroom and white sauce pizza. It had caramelized onions and was delicious. Also tried a special of the day pizza. It had a red sauce and a bunch of unique toppings (including kimchi) and it was good too! It had purple potatoes on it and that is the only ingredient I would have skipped. Crust was perfect and the pizzas were cooked to perfection as well. The restaurant is in a small house and reservations are highly recommended. Service was really good too, fast, friendly, and attentive. Would definitely come back if I am in the area!

Denni H.

Yelp
Reservation recommended Showed on a Thursday night and returned for a 7pm seating. Great atmosphere, friendly, attentive service- Ordered fish-n-chips. -portions small, tasty seasoning on the breading, on the heavy side- Served with shoestring potatoes ( not fond of) House salad was very fresh and perfectly lightly dressed. Carrot cake delicious!!

Kristin D.

Yelp
This place is fabulous! Delicious cuisine and Libby our server was the best, so attentive and kind. We will always come here when visiting Sequim.

Nanci E.

Yelp
The BEST meal I've had on a trip through Wa.!! Eat the meatloaf it's sooooo good! The service is stellar too. Don't miss a chance at checking this place out. And try dessert!

Danny S.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to eat. Date nite, walk up casual, romantic, delicious. The food is out of this world. If I had to recommend one thing it's the key lime Kalamazoo salad it's one of a kind delicious and fresh fresh fresh. The wait staff is always professional friendly and just so chill. We never feel rushed . Always get solid recommendations for a great bottle of wine. Too bad there is only 5 stars available this place is 10/10

Donna D.

Yelp
Food was great although price was a bit high. I had the flatbread pizza and my husband had the meatloaf. Both were tasty

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Excellent! Best place we've eaten in Sequim. The freshness was amazing. Chef has an exquisite palate. I had the Panelle tower, excellent combination of vegetables, mushrooms and turmeric sauce stacked with chick peas panelle. My husband had the mussels, black cod pasta which he loved. Dessert was an "upside down" citrus cheese cake with a barley shortbread. Outstanding! Keep it up Alder Wood!

Ryen M.

Yelp
While they say you don't have to make reservation. You have to there were six empty tables when we showed up and they said they were fully booked for the night.

Mikaila O.

Yelp
The Valentine's day menu was a huge miss. The fondue appetizer was cold and reminiscent of airline food. The dungeness crab stuffed dover sole tasted like diner food. Not to mention there was barely any crab in the dish. It mostly tasted like sour kraut. The cheesecake and cocktail were good at least. Unfortunately incredibly disappointing for a $200+ dinner with my husband.

Julie S.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant. Locally sourced farm to table with wonderful service. They have a gorgeous lush garden in the rear which they grow a lot of the veg and some fruits that they pick, cook and serve right there! Always consistently good. I especially love their bacon wrapped meatloaf with buttermilk mashed potatoes and luscious mushroom gravy!

Kasi S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and fantastic food. I had the cedar plank salmon and hubs had the steak. Both delicious. Truffle fries were amazing! Next time going to try some pizza

Karina Q.

Yelp
Good, but IMO a bit overrated. We got 3 salads including the special caprese. The special wild mushroom pizza and the cedar planked salmon, plus three drinks :) Really nice service though :) Beautiful garden setting. Pros - salads were fresh and delicious. very friendly service Cons - despite ordering a wild mushroom pizza with multiple types of wild mushrooms listed which is why we got it (including chanterelles and shiitakes) there were actually very few mushrooms on it and we could hardly taste them :( salmon was a bit overcooked, highlight of that plate was actually the purple and pink potatoes :( hence, why a 3 out of 5 esp. in comparison to nourish nearby where the mains shined (and it was cheaper too!)

Yelp
I looked up wood fired pizza in Sequim and found way more than I was looking for!!! We did call and make a reservation and were glad because they were busy. I would def recommend reservations. The pepperoni pizza was amazing and we split a salad with between us, too. Hubby said he thinks it's the best pizza he has ever had. Very sweet wait staff...I noticed everyone took responsibility for all the tables and helped each other. The patio was so beautiful with the pear tree just completely loaded with lots and lots of almost ripe pears. A little fountain and tons of foliage and flowers even in September! We couldn't go without dessert. My hubby had the carrot cake and I enjoyed the flourless chocolate brownie....both were amazing and we will be back next time we are here!!!!

Kathleen C.

Yelp
A perfect place for special occasions. The food is always delicious, and worth the price.

Yelp
This was our second weekend trip to Sequim and after looking at Yelp reviews we decided to give Alder Wood Bistro a try. We arrived around 6 p.m. on a Friday night without reservations, but they were able to seat us on the heated patio seating area, which turned out to be lovely. Our table had a view of the garden and was plenty warm. Our server Melanie, was wonderful. She answered all of our questions on the menu, dinner specials and wine & beer list. My husband order a beer on tap and I ordered the house red on tap. Both were good. We ordered the citrus-blue cheese green salad to share. I ordered the halibut-morel mushroom special and my husband ordered the roasted pork with mashed potatoes. Both were nicely presented -- I loved the little cedar plank that the halibut was served on -- and very delicious. When we walked into the restaurant, I saw a crème brulée in the dessert case and had my eye on it, but after finishing our meal I was sadly, too full. A reason to go back again, which we certainly will. I would suggest making reservations, as I think we got a bit lucky without one on a weekend evening. You will not regret heading to the Bistro...delicious, unpretentious and relaxing dinner.

Ellen D.

Yelp
The food was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Service was fast and good too. We got a same-day reservation (in August). Gluten-free options indicated in the menu and wait staff was amenable to also point out and work for dairy-free options. Bill was definitely on the high end for 2 people but the high quality food and delicious meal was worth it.

Brad G.

Yelp
Had an excellent meal here. The red wines were delicious and the mussels were devine. The meatloaf was tasty and the potatoes that accompanied it were outstanding.

Karin K.

Yelp
I just enjoyed a wonderful Birthday / Valentines dinner with a table of friends here! Birthday girl and I both had the sous-vide huge and super tender pork prime rib with apple/fruit relish with potato/chard sides, incredible flavors made more so with a special WA red wine chosen by the house for the night. Hot Oyster starter for me after mussel amuse. Fabulous dessert! Lot of happy diners around our table. This place always rocks it! Thanks all! I should mention that most items are sourced locally or nearby!

Lynn B.

Yelp
food was ok but nothing special. Menu options limited and a bit eclectic for our tastes

Deveshi H.

Yelp
Everything was so good. We ordered mushroom pizza and fries twice. I would definitely recommend this to my friends who are planning to go for a day trip from Seattle.

Island T.

Yelp
A fantastic seasonal and local food restaurant with thoughtful food, great service, vegetarian and vegan options, and a solid beverage selection! Their food is made with care and love! Highly recommended.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Yum! We had a lovely meal here. Our party consisted of two adults and four (yes, four!) teenage girls. The service was wonderful, and very accommodating for a wide range of requests (someone else had a new drink or refill request each time the server approached our table.) They handled gluten free (for celiac) and nightshade allergies with no problems.

Teri K.

Yelp
Lovely outdoor dining with waterfall and flowers. We shared the blue cheese salad, which was delicious, and the pepperoni, olive and mushroom pizza, also delicious! We're passing through after doing the Olympic Peninsula loop, and this was a perfect stop! My husband said it was a good thing this restaurant wasn't near home, or we'd be here every week. Highly recommend.

David B.

Yelp
Looking for a great place to have a romantic dinner, Alder Wood Bistro is it. At first glance as you pull up it looks very nondescript and doesn't even look like a restaurant, but there is a fantastic little hidden gem in Sequim. Service was fantastic, food was excellent and just a fantastic experience.

Angela M.

Yelp
Delicious gluten free pizza and fish and chips. Be sure you call for reservations. The calamari was tender and crunchy at the same time. Great aoli. The beet salad had a creamy goat cheese and the greens tasted fresh from the garden. We enjoyed our dinner.

Maddy W.

Yelp
Yuuuummmmmm. This place was absolutely delicious! I can see why it's rated the best place to eat in Sequim. We ordered the truffle fries to start and they were delicious. I had the funghi pizza bianca with the gluten free cauliflower crust and it was amazing. The crust was also the best gluten free crust I've ever had. My husband loved his pepperoni pizza as well. We got lucky by coming right when they opened and got a seat without reservations but I highly suggest making reservations.

Zan T.

Yelp
Flat iron steak OMG! So good. I eat it every time I go there. The service is great and the ownership accommodating. One of my favorite places to eat in Sequim.

Hanna S.

Yelp
Wohoo they have added some all plant-based vegan options including a pesto vegan pizza. I'd like to encourage them to add a vegan option to the desert and an additional entrée with tofu protein

E. S.

Yelp
We've heard great things about Alderwood bistro for years, but we haven't come because it's a little expensive for us, and the menu seems a little limited. We finally got an elegant gourmet coupon book with a coupon for Alderwood, so we decided to give it a try. Wow, can't wait to come back! The food, service and ambience were all fantastic. One of my favorite parts was that they did not cheap out on the coupon they gave us a chef special appetizer, which was absolutely fantastic. We both had one of the featured cocktails, and they were delicious, if a tad on the weak side. Do not think you can walk into this place, you will need a reservation, because seating is extremely limited. We will definitely be back!

Patti T.

Yelp
Sweet little bistro in Sequim. Portions are small & pricey but the setting is sweet.

Ted R.

Yelp
We love this place. The staff is very very friendly and knowledgeable of all their menu items. We take all of our visitors that come to our home!

Colleen W.

Yelp
Can say enough about this place. Save it for a special occasion. All our good was so good. I had the lamb and it was delicious.

Angel A.

Yelp
Please make a reservation in advance. We stopped by not knowing to have a reservation. Fortunately, for us Mel was able to squeeze us in before another's reservation but did advise us we would only have 45 mins. My husband ordered a drink, pizza and dessert to go, he said everything was delicious. I ordered the cedar plank salmon and a cauliflower crust pizza to go, everything was delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service was wonderful. Wish we lived in the area so we could go back, with a reservation of course ;)

Ann W.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in the county, maybe on the Olympic Península. The food is seasonal and local. Good menu with lots of choices. Also a wood fired pizza with dynamite pizza. We usually get a table outside in the garden area. It totally charming with a chandelier hanging from the cover. Service is exceptional. We observe folks our for celebration along with weary hungers hikers. All seem welcomed.

Cameron C.

Yelp
Arrived just after opening during the week. it quickly filled up within an hour of my arrival. The bistro is in a neighborhood house which is cozy, but can sit quite a few folks. Alder wood Bistro was recommended because it is one on the few (two - i'm told) truly organic restaurants in sequim. The service was attentive, but not intrusion. The waitress was very helpful. I selected the steak frite, it was flavorful & portioned "just right". when the entree first arrived, i thought it was a small portion - but it filled me up perfectly. Two entrees and two glass of wine were around $80.

Andrew L.

Yelp
Great service and food. Nice find while visiting the area. We had dinner in the covered courtyard, which was comfortable even on a cool windy evening. Patio heaters were on and blankets provided if needed. Will definitely return.

Heather K.

Yelp
5 stars for ambiance, 3 stars for food/pricing. We sat outside by the fire/warmers under the tent in the garden. It was lovely and peaceful. It felt both incredibly intimate and quite warm. We were surprised by the pricing - this place is on par with some of the fancy downtown seattle places. and the plates are small! We tried the paella - which was very small + fishy. We also tried their fresh black cod. The black cod was amazing but, again, quite small. However - I would highly recommend that dish - buttery with a crisp skin. Service was friendly and took good care of us. I would return for a drink + a date but uncertain about food.

Toni B.

Yelp
This was the BEST food I've eaten in a long time! Wow. What a beautiful atmosphere and delicious menu. There were so many options on the menu for every kind of eater- I definitely will be coming back. Don't forget to try the chocolate cake for dessert...I savored every bite...it was mouth watering.

Jane W.

Yelp
Best "real" food in the area we have been going to Alder Wood Bistro since it opened and have never had a bad meal. Not a good place for kids under 12, the resturant is small, but has outside seating.

Jo'el R.

Yelp
Everybody in town raves about this restaurant. However the night I went there it was completely full. However this totally makes sense because the entire restaurant is about the size of my living room. I was actually glad that they did not have an available table, for the room is so small and the tables are so close together that I could feel myself getting nervous and claustrophobic , and I would not have enjoyed even the most amazingly delicious meal . Now I understand why so many people showed up at the door to pick up orders to take home. Next time I will do the same and just eat the meal by the seashore or in the hotel room or in a park.

Barbara R.

Yelp
It was tasty and good service but it's to expensive for the ambience and the menu.

Jolie D.

Yelp
Wow this place was amazing, such a gem! My husband and I ordered the Comfort Meal with Veggie Pizza and the Apple and Blue Salad, also came with a chocolate molasses cookies - it was delicious and the perfect amount of food. We really (REALLY) appreciated the vegetarian options and the pizza was by far one of the best we've ever had. Loved the roasted veggies and the truffle goat cheese. Pick up was a breeze and super smart - just park in one of their parking spots, call and let them know the parking spot number, and they'll come right out. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Brianna C.

Yelp
Visited at the recommendation of the owner of the bed and breakfast we stayed at. Definitely worth it! The food was amazing! The ambiance in the garden was perfect. Definitely a place I would recommend to anyone visiting Sequim.

Ingrid C.

Yelp
The very best Sequim has to offer in fine dining. Locally sourced ingredients combined with a great chef and front of the house service.
