We went to Alegría Tacos after my wife, who's from Texas and always chasing real Mexican food, started craving it. Wow, what a find. It's a small corner spot, nothing fancy, but don't let that fool you. The food is as authentic as it gets here in South Florida. There are only a couple of tables inside and a few outside, but while we were there, people kept coming in to pick up orders. It was clear this is a local favorite because everyone seemed to know each other and were chatting like family. I couldn't believe we hadn't heard of this place sooner, especially since it's been open for years. You order at the register and then they bring your food out. Gus, the cook's son, greeted us right away and gave us some great recommendations. He was super friendly and even told us about the history of the place and where my wife could find pozole, which she's always on the lookout for.We ordered the carne asada tacos with rice and beans and a torta, which was my first time ever having one, and it was amazing. I'm Cuban, so I've never had anything like it. The bread and flavors were so fresh. After we finished, his mom, who's the cook, came out to say hi, which made it even more special. You can tell they really care about what they do and their customers. This place has so much heart and we can't wait to go back.
