I just went up to the lodge today for a visit with some of the guests. The big house has so much character with its wine country architecture and stunning view of the valley. I loved all the stone work on the premises, especially around the pool and hot tub. It seems like a wonderful place to stay.

I stayed at Alexander Valley Lodge with friends in September. The accommodations are beautiful and conducive to relaxation. The view from the dining area is gorgeous. The house is very well equipped for all possible needs..we had a beautiful dinner there with a chef who was recommended by the owner. We enjoyed our own rooms with baths. Danielle, the owner, was always available for advice on restaurants and wineries to visit. She checked up on us frequently just to see if we needed anything. Overall it was a delightful experience and I would eagerly stay there again.

From the moment that we walked in the front door I felt welcomed and at home. The refrigerator was filled with breakfast treats and the counter boasted cards, coupons and directions to shops and wineries. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and so very comfortable. Danielle went out of her way to accommodate our every wish, even setting up a tea and many VIP wine tastings. The whole adventure was lovely and I cannot wait to return. I was with a group of ladies who had been to the Lodge some 5 years before. From their description I knew that this was the perfect place to meet and I was so very right. Thanks Danielle!!!

This was my second visit to Alexander Valley Lodge (after 7 years), and I couldn't have been more pleased. Danielle is an experienced and gracious host, as well as a pillar in the community! Her "insider's" recommendations assure that visitors will take in the very best of the Sonoma wineries and scenery. The lodge itself affords guests a home away from home, with all the amenities one would need to enjoy family time or a girls' getaway. The pièce de résistance was a gourmet meal arranged with Danielle's friend and colleague, Chef Martin. Without a doubt, it was one of the most delightful experiences I've ever had. For those who are "foodies"...or just love to eat...this is an incredible experience. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Our group of 13 friends from across the country (and 2 nearby friends from Sonoma) gathered at the Lodge for five days to celebrate a milestone birthday, and to a person we couldn't have been happier with the property or the excellent support given to us by the owner Danielle. The house is conveniently located close to Highway 101, yet is situated a mile up a private road in a quiet setting among the trees. The views of the valley below from the two-level patio/pool area, the kitchen and living room, and particularly the top floor suite are spectacular. ||||Because of the size of our group, we chose to prepare all breakfasts and dinners at the house, and found abundant dinnerware, glassware, and cookware to serve our needs. We lacked nothing. As other visitors have done, we also arranged for Chef Courtman to prepare a dinner for us, and it was among the many highlights of our trip. We enjoyed it immensely and recommend you make this part of your stay as well.||||As others also note, Danielle is a wonderful source of local information, and cheerfully helps arrange visits to local wineries and tasting rooms. Her insight as to which ones can best support large groups were spot on, and led us to have a memorable day of touring the best the area had to offer.||||We enjoyed the Lodge so much that on our final full day, we decided to spend the entire day simply staying in and enjoying the house rather than taking in any more nearby sights. It was a perfect way to end our trip.

My daughter was getting married on 7/3/16 and I brought the family out to wine country for 6 days - 3 generations of us and had a great time.||||The house was fantastic and the location was beautiful although the drive up the hill wasn't the most fun thing I have ever done - I said prayers NOT to meet someone going in the opposite direction.||||Everyone enjoyed the time we were there - kids in the pool - everyone got soaked with the water toys. ||||A great relaxing time and visit to wine country - a wonderful wedding - we had a great time.

This was a perfect getaway spot for a couple of days of sight seeing and wine-tasting. The lodge was very spacious and accommodating, and the staff was very polite and knowledgeable about the area. The beautiful Armstrong Redwoods were less than an hour away, and the ocean was only a short distance further. We enjoyed wine tasting in Healdsburg and Geyserville during our stay. The view from the lodge was amazing! We are looking forward to our next visit!!

Google
Danielle is definitely a hostess who wants her guests to enjoy every minute of there stay whether at the lodge or seeing sights. She helped with daily plans of what to do and when. We enjoyed a number of wineries, restaurants, picnic and shopping in town. The Alexander Valley Lodge is such an attractive and comfortable setting that we liked spending time there as well. Night time in the hot tub gazing at the stars sharing a glass of wine with friends was the way we ended each day. I hope to return with family.

Yelp
We liked our stay here! While a bit rustic and unusual in its layout, there was plenty of room for our group of 5 couples. We do an annual wine-tasting trip in the area and have previously stayed in a hotel. The Lodge gave us the opportunity to all be together in one large house, while still affording the privacy of plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The only reason I'm not 5-starring this review is that we had an ant problem when we arrived, and the house was out of TP, both issues that were rectified, but still brought major inconvenience. Also, the hot tub was very nice and warm, but bubbles wouldn't work. We would definitely rent here again, and hope to maybe do something in the summer months so we can use the pool and sun deck area. Overall, a good experience. Thank you Alexander Valley Lodge!

Yelp
Wish I could add pictures to this review. Dirty, old towels, peeling paint, old beds that need replacing, needs some serious cleaning, a pile of dirt was in the corner of our bedroom. One bedroom only had curtains on half the windows, we had to put up a sheet which wasn't easy to do. The view from the dining room is fantastic and there is plenty of room for 10 around the table. The view isn't worth the long winding, steep, gravel road, with a drop off on one side, that gets you to the house. The patio is lovely to relax on, but don't recommend turning on the waterfall, it smells moldy. Maybe if it was less expensive, described & photographed more accurately, I could have dealt with some of the issues, but for the price it was too high for what we had to deal with. I don't like posting bad reviews, but I want folks to know what they are getting for their money.

Yelp
As a previous reviewer noted, this property is TIRED. Nothing much has changed from that review of three years ago. The place was not clean, the bed mattresses are overdue for replacement (still sporting the same pillow toppers), the towels are old, and the fixtures, including bathroom, are old and not completely functional. It did come with adequate toilet paper and a few wrapped bars of soap. Two stars because the hot tub and pool were clean and warm. Finally, the owner should disclose that the drive to the property is windy, not completely paved, and narrow. Anyone attempting to arrive at night would find it treacherous and perhaps frightening. As is, I would not recommend it for the price

Yelp
Wonderful experience Great property! Pics don't do it justice (although they are very accurate). It's even more beautiful & impressive. Excellent entertainment area and plenty of room & accomodations. We were a party of 11 and had plenty of space. plenty of staple items in the kitchen. Coffee pot. Crock pot. Pots & pans as well as dishes. Luxury linens on all beds. They also have discount passes and complimentary tasting cards available in the house for many local wineries. Very nice touch along with a complimentary bottle of wine and some homemade toffee waiting for our group. Outdoor areas are fantastic. Pool. Hot tub. Fire pit. Steps & trails up to adjoining vineyard with gorgeous views. Owners are fantastic & available to help or answer questions. You can't go wrong here at AVL.

Yelp
The pictures paint a rosier picture than reality. It is tired and worn out. The mattress in our room was at least 30 years old. They tried to hide it with a weird pillow topper but the 30 year old sheets weren't big enough to cover it all- kept creeping up. The shower handle fell off in the shower. The towels were thread bare. Definitely NOT worth the pricey rate. The road up to the house is a terrifyIng one lane road. The view from the patio was nice, nice pool/hot tub, but you can't spend all your time outside. Kitchen was super old and SUPER cluttered- could hardly find anything with all the junk- like 4 generations of people's hand-me-downs. Same for furnishings. TV was 20 years old. NOT HD. Nice location but I would not stay there again.

Yelp
This amazing home is perfect for girls getaways. We all travelled from different parts of the Bay Area for a two night stay. We brought much of our own food so we could optimize on time spent together and the kitchen at AVL was very well stocked with all that you could need for a small dinner or BBQ for a big bunch. The hot tub was great, the views were astounding and and the home was clean and comfortable. We loved all the bedrooms as many of us are professional so our weekend sleep away is particularly important. Great beds and linens. Really great spot all the way around. Close to Geyserville and far from everything else. Still only an hour or so north of San Francisco. Thank you to AVL family and staff!

Yelp
We had the best time at the lodge. From very comfy beds to super accommodations hosts--it was fantastic. I can't wait to go back and sit in the hot tub while stargazing. Best weekend ever.

Yelp
This place is spacious, comfy, and has amazing views of Sonoma County wine country. Proximity to the adorable tiny town of Geyserville is a major plus, and owners Danielle and her husband are incredibly helpful, providing info on things to do and offering options for reasonable shuttle service to meet any local needs. (We used it to bring guests from town to a party.) The road to the property is a bit tricky, but it's super close to 101, another plus. Great outdoor space, too: pool, Jacuzzi, grassy area for bocce, terrace for BBQs, and a tiki bar for whatever ails you!

Yelp
There is much to recommend this property. The outdoor living is quite pleasant and there are adequate common and private spaces available. However, you need to know that there are items either not provided or are rationed out meagerly. Bring your own bar soap for a good shower experience and it wouldn't hurt to put an extra roll of toilet paper in your luggage in case ... since that too is rationed.

Yelp
Unlike the other reviews we had a great time at the Alexander Valley Lodge. We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday there with a large group of friends and everyone had a great time. The number of master suites with adjoining baths was so nice and allowed for privacy. We stayed in the 3rd floor bedroom and it was HUGE and had 2 decks and one even walked out onto a wooded path that had chairs. One thing to keep in mind...this is a lodge and a vacation home that has many guests. The place was clean and for the size group we had the set up was great. In the main living area we played Pictionary as a group and everyone had a place to sit on the numerous couches. Yes as another poster said the couches have couch covers....but honestly does that really matter?? Again this is a lodge in the middle of a gorgeous forest. We didn't have any issues with soap or toilet paper. Infact I had brought a lot of things with me that I thought I would need (coffee filters, trash bags, papers towels, dishwasher soap, and a blow dryer) and in the end I didn't need any of them. Towels were not an issue either and we had 10 people staying at the lodge. Just hang up your towels so you can reuse them the next day or if you need to the washer and dryer are on the 1st floor...wash them yourself. Danielle the owner was wonderful to work with and VERY responsive. She recommended a chef, Martin Courtman, that would come onsite to cook a 4-course meal. I decided to surprise my husband and coordinate a menu with his favorites. Martin easily took my suggestions and came up with a yummy menu! He then gave us specific items within the menu so our friends could pair wines with each course. I can't rave enough about how great Martin is and more importantly how unbelievable the 4-course dinner was. Everyone is still talking about it...especially his crab cakes! In addition, to Martin's recommendation, Danielle also has a van onsite that can be rented by the hour with driver included. What a great perk and the price she charged was very reasonable. The only reason we did not partake is we needed a van for the entire weekend and I was not drinking so could be the chauffeur verses hiring one. The only negative for us was it was extremely foggy the weekend we stayed and the drive up the one-lane, wooded, mostly non-paved, hilly drive was very scary when we were coming home late one night after bowling. My recommendation is to drive an SUV if you have one and if it is foggy...stay in! Last but not least, when we were wine tasting on Saturday and people asked where we were staying and we mentioned the Alexander Valley Lodge, everyone at the wineries commented on what a great place to stay and how great the owner was. To me that is the truest of all testaments. We will back in the summer to fully enjoy what the lodge has to offer and this time we will bring our munchkins!

Yelp
I would not recommend this rental. The beds are horribly uncomfortable/old- they say they have "feather beds" on top but that is just so you don't feel the springs from the mattresses completely.. the feather beds are old and def. NOT plush as their website and VRBO description says. The inside of the Lodge is also set up very strangely and is not comfortable for relaxing.. the couches are Old and covered.. The Kitchen is not well equipped at all ( we even had to ask someone to bring knifes) I also agree with the first post, bring your own toilette paper and maybe even towels. The even worse part of the whole experience is the water, its brown and leaves dirt in the tubs/ showers- def. not drinkable. We were told that it is safe (well water) - that didn't make it any less unpleasant. I would say the only saving grace of this place is the outside areas, we were there in the winter however so not able to enjoy that part.
