You Can Get Flat Croissants at South Bay Bakery Alexander’s Patisserie | Eater SF

"Watching a video of the bakery’s recently released flat croissant felt wrong to me — after years of talking to bakers about achieving airy, laminated layers, seeing one flattened to a crisp seemed contradictory to the art of viennoiserie. At Alexander’s Patisserie, general manager Claire Chen says the flat croissant grew out of a customer request for a palmier and chef Shu Cao’s interest in Korean-style flat croissants, and that the recipe and technique are their own; the process is similar to how they make butter croissants but is a completely new method that includes adding sugar on top for a palmier-like sugary, crunchy exterior and then flattening the pastry with “the heaviest tray we have,” roughly the equivalent of 10 pounds of pressure. In the two weeks since release the team has experimented with flavors — a plain version plus ones dipped in mango or strawberry-flavored chocolate — and Chen stresses they aren’t merely chasing viral trends: Instagram helps share work and spot trends, but innovation is about keeping the baking team motivated and exploring new possibilities, and if something succeeds it energizes the staff, which she calls a win-win." - Dianne de Guzman

Just had afternoon tea, and it was great. Those little bites really add up to a filling experience. Personal favorites were the fruit scone with lemon curd, chocolate hazelnut mousse cake, and whatever this mango thing is. The tea was good too.

Experienced the afternoon tea at Alexander’s Patisserie. Pâtisseries were great. Excellent tea selection which was from Fortnum Mason. Sandwiches were dry, and kind of tough. Their desserts are usually really good but because it was so hot outside, they were already melting and we were sitting in the shade. We ordered pescatarian / vegetarian options and they were able to accommodate. Make reservations as they are required. when we went, they only had outdoor seating so would recommend doing tea during the cooler times as everything started melting during the summer.

I've been coming to this location for over 3 years. I understand it's a smaller store compared to the Mountain View one, so naturally, there are fewer options. What is disappointing, though, is the recent drop in quality, specifically the packaging. I come here for cakes for special occasions, and these cakes are not cheap. Part of the premium experience used to be the beautiful orange boxes that felt special and elevated the whole presentation. Now, the cakes come in flimsy, generic-looking paper boxes that honestly make it feel like I bought a cake from a grocery store. Same story with the macarons, the packaging looked so cheap I had to specifically ask the employee to use the demo box instead. If you’re going to charge premium prices, at least maintain the premium feel. I really hope the original packaging comes back—because right now, it feels like the quality is slipping.

I picked up a cake for my sister’s birthday and it was extremely tiny for $15. It was about the size of my palm-or smaller. I did enjoy the taste but way too small for the value which is quite disappointing. The shop itself is very tiny also. The online system is strange. It’s confirmed in real-time, and they rejected my order three times. One of the reasons they provided was that they were sold out of the cake I ordered. But when I came in to pick up (same day order) there were plenty more in stock of the cake I originally decided on. I would’ve given up on ordering after all the rejections, but I didn’t feel like wasting time researching for another bakery.

I ordered a quiche and hot tea, both were great. The staff was very helpful and kind. I sat in the cafe to work for a few hours and it was overall very quiet and pleasant. I also ordered a ton of other goodies before leaving for a client meet, they loved everything!

Google
Very expensive bakery but worth it. If you like macaroons, come here! Strong flavor, a little chewy with the crunch when you first bite into. Coffee and tea drinks are okay. Not many seats but you can take your pastries/drinks and eat at the Main Street park. I just found out that afternoon tea is being offered at this location 🥳 Can't wait to try it out!

Google
The Cupertino Patisserie is hard to find. Patisserie are great. I stopped going to this location due to bad service and lack of selection. It was a few years ago but the person who helped me was giving me attitude about the cakes I was ordering.

Google
This particular location is very small. They also do not sell whole cakes. Chocolates: Expensive. $2.50 a piece. While they're not bad (the flavors are quite good), you can get better chocolate at this price range. They're basically two half spheres stuck together. Pretty to look at but...$2.50?? Macarons: The shells are dryer and harder than what you normally get at other places. It makes for a stronger shell that is visually pleasing (very smooth and less likely to have cracks) but it's a little weird biting into it. Not bad, just different. Pastries/cakes: I've tried the chocolate pillow, roxanne and vanilla tart with my favorite being the roxanne (very messy to eat!). All the cakes are beautifully made, delicious, and pricey. In terms of value: cakes > macarons > chocolates

Yelp
Good service, yummy patisserie. Would go again. Highly recommend. Try their bread pudding.

Yelp
Thank you Charlie for making our experience super great! Me and a friend went here after lunch and after getting some boba a few clicks away. Apparently, the boba was not enough dessert so we walked around the area, saw a sign and found ourselves at Alexander's Patisserie, a cute little quiet spot tucked away, a little shop selling teas, olive oil and other items along with the main show of pastries, cakes and chocolates, oh my! Charlie was super friendly and diligent, sharing insights into the pastries, the free cup of coffee and showing the assortment of chocolates. He also shared how we can order in advance if we want to do a pick up, which is good to know for future birthdays and celebrations. The chocolate croissant spoke to me so I bought the last two of those while my friend bought an almond croissant which Charlie heated up for us. We sat right out front at the cute little tables with the surprisingly comfortable wicker chairs and enjoyed our pastries. Mine was super flakey, so buttery and with just the right amount of chocolate. Fantastic. My friend only wanted to eat half of her almond croissant but that was wishful thinking because it was gone faster than I finished my chocolate croissant. Charlie later came out to offer us water, which was so unexpected and kind. I decided to take my other croissant home and oops it didn't make it because I ate it in the car. Haha We'll be back for sure but perhaps earlier so we can catch the pastry drop and see all the options. I also, still want to try the chocolates. The globe chocolates looked pretty and the other chocolates... that Jasmine one was calling out to me. Ha

Yelp
After having lunch next door, we decided to get some coffee and dessert at Alexander's Patisserie. Not a lot of choices of either desserts or drinks we perused the offerings. The place was tiny with only one server / cashier. The seating is outside with tables and chairs in the patio. We were the only customers. The only guy that was working had the most uninviting scowl on his face. Very short a curt with his responses to our questions, until we left a 20% tip on a $60 bill. The desserts were good. The bad attitude equates to "never again"

Yelp
I stopped by Alexander's Patisserie for some desserts after dinner. The place is tiny with one worker but she was very friendly. It was late in the day so there weren't many pastry and cake selections left. I got a box of 6 macarons. Everything tasted amazing with the pistachio, Earl Grey and Nutella standouts. The box was also so pretty! We saw they offer afternoon tea at the patio outside which looked interesting and I'd love to try some croissants and cakes in the future.

Yelp
This spot is a must for me when I'm downtown Mountain View! Alll of the pastries are created with such skill, they are like little pieces of art! You can taste the quality ingredients in each bite. Not only do they have amazing pastries, but incredible macarons and the THE BEST CHOCOLATE!!! It is pricey, but soooo worth it. And so many fun flavors! All of them or decorated so beautifully! There can be a line, but it moves fast. You can get a variety of coffee and croissant flavors as well.

Yelp
My husband picked-up the Earl grey tea cake for my birthday from this place. The cake tasted fantastic!! It has a layer of chocolate on the bottom, followed by layer of bergamot citrus with Earl grey mousse on top. When you take a bite with all three layers, it tasted heavenly and rich. I am a huge fan of teas in general. And this cake was like the best Earl grey tea that I had in recent times. I would definitely visit this place again to try their pistachio cake

Yelp
Cake was delicious but small . I don't think Id order again . It was an easy process but it was expensive.

Yelp
The staff is friendly, patient, and happy to make recommendations. The overall vibe is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place for a slow morning or a quick pick-me-up.

Yelp
Super original cakes that are stunning to look at and take pictures with. We loved the mango blossom cake which had a very unique & beautiful shape, wasn't too sweet, and had gourmet ingredients throughout (mango confit, mango cream, vanilla mousse, valrhona passionfruit couverture). Look forward to coming back trying the beautiful blue earl grey cake and the green pistachio spiral cake.

Yelp
(This is a review for our dining experience in October 2024 -- just realized I never posted my draft review.) Our afternoon tea experience here was far from enjoyable. Immediately after check in at Alexander's, we were directed to check in next door at the bakery instead, then walked back out and were seated at a table outside in the cold (designated seating area for tea service... dining room was empty.) The service was mediocre -- while our server gave wonderful recommendations for the tea selection, he seemed disengaged and, shockingly, wore an AirPod during service. Having provided no other option but to sit outdoors on a chilly autumn day completely ruined the cozy ambiance you'd expect for afternoon tea. Right off the bat my guest and I just wanted to dine inside the restaurant for regular lunch instead but mind you they have you pay ahead when booking the reservation so cancelling was not an option at this point. The food was overpriced for what was offered. At $65 pp (plus $15 pp for Wagyu sliders) and 20% service charge included -- our final tab was well over $200 but we walked away feeling like "what just happened?" Overall, the experience fell well short of expectations, and we won't be returning. Wouldn't recommend to anyone looking for a refined and comfortable afternoon tea. Will stick to steakhouse moving forward.

Yelp
Nice small cafe. Everything I have tried at Alexander's Patisserie has been flavorful and unique. This location in particular is small and more limited compared to other locations I've been in. They only have patio seating, no indoor seating.

Yelp
I didn't actually eat this myself and it was a last minute gift, so this is a review only for the service. At 10am I was supposed to meet my customer. Upon being notified he was running late I quickly went over to the closest patisserie. She was just opening shop when I got there, quickly got setup, made her recommendations. I got the classic croissant for him because he seemed to be on the healthier side, biking around campus if possible. So glad I was able to catch the opening before my meetup, super great packaging and options for mini thank you cards!

Yelp
This review is for the tea time. We did an early Mother's Day brunch on May 4. My sister reserved and we prepaid for 5 people. It was pricey...I believe over 400 for all 5 of us. Overall, I thought the food was delicious but the value was not worth it. We were the only people doing tea time at the time. Since it's part of the steak house you don't get the fun decor like at Lovejoys or other dedicated tea spots but I excepted that. What I didnt expect was the lack of attention and customer service especially for the high price of the tea service. It felt like we were bothersome when asking for refills on water or tea. Such a shame because the food was delicious, especially the warm and savory biscuits at the bottom tier. There was plenty of food we even had leftovers to take home, but again it was a hassle trying to find help. Whenever we did flag someone down I believe it was someone from the restaurant side and the seemed annoyed by our request and they had to grab the staff from the bakery side to help us. I definitely won't return for tea time but will probably came back to the patisserie to grab a quick pastry.

Yelp
I usually love this place but their afternoon tea falls a bit short. This review is just for their afternoon tea. In general, I really like the pastries from here. However, the pastries served during tea time just didn't taste as good as the pastries they usually sell. If they served some of their more popular pastries during tea time, it would be a lot better. I also really didn't like any of their sandwich options. The bread and the stuffing both did not taste fresh so I was pretty disappointed. Their scones are okay but their lemon spread is really good. In terms of tea, I loved the variety! I thought my tea tasted great. They have many fruit and herbal options and it's helpful they list out the caffeine levels as well. For service, things were brought out fairly quickly but there's not much beyond that. We stayed for a while so I do appreciate how they did not try to rush us to leave. I personally really like how the location is in a corner. It's quiet and calm. Since there's hardly any foot traffic, it's a great place to sit and relax. While I do like this place, I wouldn't recommend their afternoon tea

Yelp
3.5 STARS Friend: "What's that?" Me: "A 2D croissant." Friend: "Looks like someone sat on it. Hope they didn't fart on it." Me: *SNIFF TEST* Spending hours painstakingly creating beautifully laminated layers only to *SMASH* it seems sacrilegious to a French croissant. But, this became a viral trend in Korea last year which has now come to The Bay. Introducing the 2D Korean-inspired: Croissant Nurungi aka Flat Croissant.... They're available at Alexander's Pâtisserie (Cupertino & Mountain View). 4 flavors: Plain, strawberry, mango, and chocolate ($6-$6.50 each). * Plain ($6) // 3 stars * Strawberry ($6.50) // 4 stars : http://tinyurl.com/mr28h3n3 Gimmicky? Fo'Sho...imo. Low key reminds me of palmiers (cookies), the 2D croissants were crunchy and flaky with a buttery, slightly caramelized sweetness. Not as sugary as palmiers. After several bites, the plain one became monotonous. The strawberry chocolate + dehydrated strawberries was much better. The creamy pleasant tartness perfectly complemented the butteriness. Pairs well with tea + coffee. Overall, the 2D croissants were fine and I may get one again when I'm craving a bougie palmier but def seems like another social media novelty trend. Gotta try things for yourself tho. Rounding down because of my other experiences at this pâtisserie. I'm a fan of their steakhouse but I find their desserts look better than they taste (for my taste preferences). Also, on one visit, the macarons and truffles I purchased were stale. OTHER NOTES: * Hidden behind Pacific Catch's storefront. * Much smaller than their MV location with a limited selection. * Hot tea + coffee available. No matcha tho which is disappointing considering their brand has Japanese influences. * Tock: Cake Pre-Orders + Afternoon Tea Rezzies * Afternoon Tea ($65 pp) in partnership with Claude Le Tohic and SF's ONE65 is available on the patio. Includes fresh seasonal assortment of pastries, macarons, sandwiches, chocolates, tea, and coffee. * Outdoor patio seating only (dog-friendly).

Yelp
Arrived after they closed (which is ok) but the sign still said "open". Would've walked straight through the door but I checked their hours for some reason as I was slightly surprised they'd still be open and was so excited they were. We've had their goods before and even checked them out to do our daughters 1st birthday. Anyways, during those 10seconds that I was scanning the sign, the guy came over looked me in the eye and flipped the sign to closed without even a look of remorse, but annoyance that we would even think we could go in. Blech, needless to say I won't be coming back after that encounter. I'll go to Lady M instead. Thank you, goodbye.

Yelp
Tucked away next to Alexander's Steakhouse this spot is definitely hidden. I had no idea it was next door to the steakhouse until someone mentioned it. Location is super small and there is no indoor seating. I tried their matcha croissant, pistachio croissant and the flattened croissant dipped in mango. If you like matcha, you'd like the matcha croissant. I'm usually not a fan of filled croissants because the croissant loses its crispy exterior. In this case the shell was still crispy but there was way to much filling. It was 25% croissant and 75% filling. The filling had a nice matcha flavor and not too sweet but it was a dense cream filling. I was fine after 2 bites it was personally too rich for me. Pistachio croissant- very reminiscent of baklava. I enjoyed this one more and I'm usually lukewarm about pistachio items. It was not too sweet and crunchy throughout which I appreciated. Pistachio flavor was subtle without being overpowering. Flattened croissant- I got so many forwarded instagram stories about this item. Didn't come in to try this but since I was here why not. There was 4 flavors including strawberry, mango and chocolate. I opted for mango. It was crispy and the mango dipped parts slightly sweet. I'm not mad at this at all. If you want something crunchy and not too sweet you could opt for this. It's been compared to a palmier cookie but not as sweet as one of those cookies. It was interesting to try just once. May come back to try the strawberry flavor if I'm in the area. I saw on social they also serve afternoon tea but this location is pretty small and unless it's a nice day out I saw very limited seats.

Yelp
A flat croissant place in the Bay Area? Never would I have thought that that would be a thing. After seeing this place on social media, I just knew I needed to give this place a shot. Aesthetically, they're beautiful for flat pieces of croissant bread. It's like super crispy, flaky, and it literally tastes like a crunchy croissant. With the addition of the fruity flavors and chocolate flavor, the croissants literally taste like a pocky stick which I actually thought was delightfully good and whimsical. The mango and strawberry croissants ones were definitely some of my favorites. The fruitiness definitely cuts into the butteriness of the croissant, and it was slightly tart which I also liked! The chocolate hazelnut and matcha croissant were alright. But that's just me being biased. As much as I thought that this was a cool experience, it's also pretty gimmicky as well. I would definitely choose a regular croissant over this any day. But at the end of the day, if you wanna try a unique croissant place, Alexander's Patisserie should definitely be added to your list.

Yelp
While their pastries and cakes look so beautiful and decadent, they do lack some sort of flavor. I would also say that the items on the menu is a bit on the pricier side compared to other places I have been to. The interior of this place was small and nice with display items that one can buy. These items consist of tea, coffee, fresh vanilla, etc. The service here was decent. I did ask the employee what she recommended and she told me that everything was good here and that you couldn't go wrong...not very helpful.

Yelp
Had one of my few tea time experiences here recently and honestly really enjoyed it. To be fair I'm really not a high noon tea time kinda gal. The only high noon tea time I know is dimsum which is a lot more food vs. these delicate pastries and sammies. But ya know what - for a girls catchup scene and light bites ++ optional mini Wagyu sliders for added costs...I'd say not too shabby. My party of 4 were seated outside and had reservations ahead of time. I think my sister-in-law might have prepaid actually. Our service was nice and the waitress did a great job of explaining the different tea options. I loved the tea and the fact that we can all choose our own flavor. Food talk: Mini Wagyu Sliders - bomb!!! Meat was so juicy with nice buttery buns and simple veggie condiments for the right amount of tang/freshness. Sandwiches - the ham one was tasty and cheesy, a bit too salty. Loved the salmon one, had great flavor and a nice texture overall. Scones and bites - round cheese bites were flaky and super tasty! While the scones were fair, little dry but I guess that's how scones are (lol) - loved the jams which did add some moisture. Desserts - raspberry macarons were OK, not a fan of macarons in general. Lemon dome tart was good and not too sour. Chocolates were tasty! The pistachio creme/custard in the cup was creamy and tasty. Little cupcakes were good but a bit too sweet for me personally. Overall we had a great experience - if my friends/fam wanted to do this again I'd be down. Just not something I would usually initiate...bc IYKYK me :)

Yelp
Nice spot from a known steakhouse. We've got an opera cake and some Christmas special cake (unfortunately I forgot the name). Both were delicious! We also got a sample of 6 different macaroons to try out at home. These were ok but not as good as the cakes imo. I also had a chocolate lava croissant, it had a very rich chocolate flavor and the quality of the chocolate was very high. I'd get it again next time.

Yelp
like this shop, nice sweeties good env, they have specials for mid autumn festival very cutedesign

Yelp
The pastries here look good and have great design. The macarons were delicious and the flavors are subtle. I got the flat croissant because it was viral for a bit. The croissant tasted ok, tasted like a cracker but the mango flavor carried it. When I went there, only one employee was working and it was a bit slow getting to my order. But they packaged it great and carefully. Nothing blew my mind here and it is a bit pricey.

Teresa A.

Yelp
We wait 20 minutes because the open a 11:am The person so rude We went to buy almond croissants he said he only one croissants really if it's a bakery just open only 1 croissant????

Yelp
Excellent food and location is awesome , easy to parking and we had wonderful time. We order birthday cake here.

Yelp
Overall, I enjoyed the high tea I had here! The teas we ordered were strong and we liked the flavor profile of the overall meal. There wasn't too much of any one thing, which provided a great variety throughout the course of the meal. First Course: Really liked the scones, and the jams provided alongside them. The egg tarts were a bit too dry Second Course: Loved all the finger sandwiches! I particularly liked the egg salad and turkey melt ones, but all 4 sandwiches were a hit in my opinion. Third Course: Pretty standard - my favorite was the little butter cakes! I only wish servers would check on us a little more often, since we were sat outside along the side of the building, and there was not an easy way to flag down a server from our seats.

Yelp
High tea here is always nice and delicious and beautiful. It's a high price to pay, but worth it if you are looking for the quintessential high tea experience in the South Bay. Not many other places you could go.

Yelp
Came here on sat afternoon during Mother's Day weekend, unable to find any parking in the area. Luckily got drop off to get the cakes, service is quick. The only issue is they don't take Apple Pay or credit card. They suggested to order online and was able to get the pastries. Ambiance is cute inside, pretty small inside but there are some seatings available outside next to the steam house.

JJ M.

Yelp
Cute place with so many good options. Love their croissants and other beautiful desserts

Yelp
This tiny little bakery is located right near the Alexander Steakhouse. You might think with all the options available at main st who would come by to a bakery but it's a great option for an afternoon pick me up! I came here and got a free latte via my yelp check in and it was pretty good. The croissant I got was delicious and probably one of the best croissants I've ever had. I got the black sesame one and it was filled to the brim with black sesame cream and just overall a fantastic croissant. They have a ton of yummy baked goods here so definitely come by and check it out. I also saw a ton of folks go to afternoon tea here and their platters look super cute. I'll definitely be coming by more often!

Yelp
4.75* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 5* Value: 4* Service: 5* 04/16/2023 What a fantastic stop to serve my voracious sweet tooth on our last day before leaving the area! We took a stroll down the street and as the saying goes...I've never met a sweets shop that I don't like. Everything about this place from the exterior to the interior decor and all the fantastic dessert creations inside the displays screams high-end, Paris-like quality. We were in need of some additional caffeine to go along with the sweets, so ordered 3 Gibraltars and an Iced Caramel Latte - all of which were delicious. For our desserts, we shared a Little Tahini vanilla dessert (see picture) and an Opera chocolate dessert (see picture). Believe me...both were every bit as good as their near-perfect appearance and warrant serious consideration to try during your next stop. If you like high-end, delicious desserts as much as I do, you really need to stop by and try a few of these luscious treats! Yelp
It was my birthday back in March, and three days prior to that, I wanted to try out a new cake bakery and ordered myself an earl grey cake online so that I can pick it up on my actual birthday. When it was time to pick it up on a Saturday, I went in and they said that their power went out a few days before that and they weren't able to make the cake that I ordered. The whole reason why I chose this place to order my cake was that it looked REALLY fancy and I love how they design the cake. I really wanted this blue cake that was earl grey flavored and had such a sleek design. For my past birthdays, I never really bother buying a cake and I don't even like cake that much, but I wanted to treat myself this year. Regardless, they had two cakes that were pre made: "Opera" which is like a almond coffee sponge cake or a "Empress" which is a chocolate hazelnut mousse caramel cake. I chose the "Empress". I also pre-order a chocolate sign that says "Happy Birthday", but the staff said that the chef wasn't here that day, and also couldn't make it, so they gave me these plastic happy birthday candles. If I'm paying this much for a cake that I already had my eyes on and wasn't able to get on the day of, then there's need to be some sort of refund. I get that all these cakes are the same price and they can substitute the cake that I order to the cake they already have as well as the loss of power, but there needs to an earlier notice since I gave out my email and phone number so they can contact me. As for the cake, it was okay. It was actually really sweet since there was caramel and chocolate mixed in. The design was pretty nice. I feel like you can get this flavor anywhere, which is why I wanted to get the earl grey cake since I never seen a place that sells this type of flavor, plus it's blue (my fav color lol).

Yelp
Pricy but excellent patisserie with delicious artisanal cakes and even better French macarons. A solid selection and variety at a high price, likely because of it's association with a high-end steakhouse. Service is indifferent - but it's the food you're after.
google avatar

Shiela T.

Yelp
I have dined at Alexander's Steakhouse but I have yet to have a dine in experience at the patisserie. I have, however, come in and purchased items at both the Cupertino & downtown Mountain View locations. My favorite would have to be the earl grey tea cake. There is nothing like it anywhere else - a completely unique and sophisticated dessert! My plan is to come back here and try their high tea experience with the tiered display with beautifully crafted sandwiches, pastries and confections. The location of the Cupertino shoppe can be a bit crowded and often a bit challenging to find parking (depending on when you plan to visit). My suggestion is to make a reservation as well if you want to dine here as seating can be limited. Artisan desserts! Great coffee!

Yelp
Croissants def good, they ran out of flavors and we only got to try one flavor. Wishbit was closer to me I would more likely try the other stuff. Oh check in with the yelp app and get a free cup of coffee. Good with your Croissants.

Yelp
This review is based on to-go cake. Ordered a 10" Earlgrey chocolate cake for a party. Packaging and service were nice, and delicious cake. The cake is a piece of art and it tastes good. I especially like the chocolate cookies bottom.

Yelp
*3.5 stars* Afternoon Tea is a really fun (but pricey) experience that I don't do quite too often but I'm glad I got to try it here. What sold me on booking a reservation was the presentation of the meal set in photos I've seen online. The way it's fixed onto the golden three-tiered tea stand looks so luxurious and has a really appealing aesthetic. In my opinion it was good, but not something I'd pay for again. My group and I booked the Standard - No Upgrades set that's charged per person with an automatic 20% service charge, taxes, and fees. Moving onto the tea and food itself, it was tasty but nothing amazingly delicious. To start off, each person selects a tea of their choice from a menu of about eight different tea offerings. It's then steeped and prepared in individual glass teapots. The servers also come around to refill it with hot water throughout your meal. Out of all the bites of food, my favorite items were the lobster roll and scones with housemade jams. The deserts didn't really wow me but I thought the texture of the passion fruit macaron was perfect.

Yelp
I've come here to pick up some small desserts here and there, and although it is more pricey than other places, they have never failed to amaze me. I've recently came here for the afternoon tea, and the experience was great! We had several finger sandwiches, scones, quiches, and an assortment of desserts. I had actually expected more desserts and less savoury foods, but everything was delicious. The tea tasted great as well, though I tend to drink teas that are not as floral or flavored as the options on the menu. The only downside was that it was outside, and only one table had a working heater. I think I would do the afternoon tea again if they change the menu, but I'll definitely come again for the desserts!

Yelp
We wanted some desserts that were a little fancier than the usual to celebrate my bf's dad's 80th. They all looked like pieces of fine art! It was hard to decide! We finally settled on the earl grey chocolate mousse, little Tahiti, ispahan and opera cake. The only one the four of us unanimously liked was the little Tahiti. Light as a cloud, but packed with vanilla flavor. I'd consider the bigger cake for future family gatherings. The other three fell flat for me. Particularly the ispahan, which had the taste and texture of a fruitcake. Yes, the ones that people notoriously regift because they don't like them... Lots of attention to detail when it came to packaging. Each one was taped to the bottom of the box so it wouldn't move in transit. Appreciate that. Check in on Yelp for a free hot or iced coffee!

Yelp
I've been in this shop a few times to buy sweets and noticed that they had an afternoon tea, so I booked it as late celebration for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. I think the check-in experience is a little weird - just kind of walk in to the shop and told them I'm there for the tea. The seating is outdoors and seems a bit quiet/secluded with barriers between the seats, but there were a TON of bugs and gnats flying around which was kind of awkward when you are trying to shoo them off your food. I know it happens but I've not had a similar experience at other spots in this area - dunno if they were interested in the fake foliage covering the barriers between seats or what. When we sat down, they brought us a menu with tea choices (which seemed like a decent selection) and then plopped down our tea pots, and then the traditional kind of tiered tea assortment, explained what the items were, and then the staff was never seen again. I would have liked to get a second pot of tea - guess that's not part of the $65? They don't bring you milk and sugar to go in the tea either - not sure what that is about. It's not really the kind of experience I've had at serious tea places where they check in on you and make sure you have what you need. The food itself was really good. I enjoyed all the little sandwiches - my boyfriend loved the one that was turkey and cheese especially. The scones were really delicious but it would have been better with clotted cream! The desserts were amazing, especially the chocolate one. It was a good selection of food - definitely heavy on the desserts. I think it was a fun experience though a little pricey compared to some teas where they will bring you more tea and dote on you a bit more.

Yelp
I did their afternoon tea service with a group of 4. It was good, but service, ambience, and food combined were definitely not worth price of ~$85 with tax included. The food was decent but not great. Some notable bites were the Lobster Club Sandwich and the King Crab Salad Sandwich. I also have a sweet tooth and liked the desserts, although I didn't finish all of it. Dessert was half the meal. The tea felt pretty cheap. The service wasn't great because the place seemed understaffed. I only saw one person working at the dessert shop AND serving all the afternoon tea services. She forgot our tea order and cream request a few times.

Yelp
My high tea experience at Alexander Patisserie was underwhelming and i will not return or recommend. 1) Service was not great. They seemed understaffed. No one checked up on us through our time. We constantly had to get up to flag the server for more hot water, sugar, creamer. 2) Diluted tea, we came for tea time. Why are you skimping on tea leaves? Tea lacked flavor. 3) Tea in a coffee press, not even in a teapot. Not the vibe. 4) Had to ask for creamer and sugar. Gave us sugar packets. Looked over at another table. They had sugar cubes. What?! Where is the consistency? 5) Missed some dessert items that other people had on there's. Other table has this panacotta looking dessert. Was not in ours. Once again, where is the consistency? 6) Cramped location, even though it is out door. they try to packed too many tables together so there is no privacy. We heard the entire conversation of the neighboring table. Amusing but also not a vibe when you are just trying to enjoy tea and having your own conversations.

Yelp
We came here for afternoon tea and it was a strange and rainy weekend (atypical) so they moved us indoors into a private dining area where they set up the afternoon tea spots. Although we prepaid on tock and didn't have an opportunity to tell us we were celebrating a bday, when we told the server they still gave us a little bday dessert. Also we asked for cotton candy for our daughter and they were nice enough to make it happen even though that is not part of the tea experience. Didn't feel hurried or rushed. Very spacious for our daughter (age 3) to be at, thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend AT ALL for the afternoon tea - no service at all but charged 20% tip in advance - food are below average, worse than most pastries stores, lobster in the lobster rolls are not fresh - bad tea: basically drinking hot water - again, I can't say which one is worse: a terrible service or 0 service - location is really bad.. in a plaza, very crowded and noisy, doesn't feel like afternoon tea at all If you want to have some afternoon tea, DO NOT COME HERE

Yelp
Pretty disappointed in the afternoon tea given the price point. We only interacted with a server 3 times - once to take our tea type, once to get our tea, and once to get our tower. We were never offered water or refills on our tea. There was no milk or sugar on the table. One of the sandwiches was completely soggy. Everything felt for show.
