You Can Get Flat Croissants at South Bay Bakery Alexander’s Patisserie - Eater SF

"California bakery Alexander’s Patisserie serves the latest shape in the croissant multiverse: flat. The flat croissant evolved out of a customer’s request for a palmier, and after much experimentation, they created a product that is similar to a palmier but more buttery, with a sugary crisp and crunchy exterior. They offer various flavors, including plain, mango, and strawberry-flavored chocolate. The bakery prioritizes innovation and creativity over social media trends, aiming to keep the baking team motivated and excited about their work." - Dianne de Guzman

hidden gem in downtown mountain view with beautiful, delicate desserts. i got the pistachio layered pastry and it was divine — rich, not too sweet, and full of texture. staff were really kind and helpful, especially with explaining the different pastries. the space feels elegant but relaxed, like a little escape from the busy street. perfect for a treat-yourself moment or an afternoon coffee break.

Google
I've been to Alexander's Patisserie several times, and they truly are a good place to visit if you're looking for well-decorated and beautiful desserts. They taste good as well and are primarily mousse based which some people may prefer. The price is a bit steep, but you can see the quality and craftsmanship in their desserts so I don't think it's too expensive for what they sell. Staff is helpful but has spilled several of our drinks when serving them at the table. The seating area is often full and crowded and can't accommodate large groups, but you could also try to sit outdoors. The indoor dining also is a bit messy as people are constantly coming in and out. It's a classic spot for a hot drink and a dessert, and I definitely frequent Alexander's when I'm in the area!

We were visiting Music on castro event on Castro Street, Mountain View, and stopped here on a whim. We are so glad we did. We loved visiting Alexander's Parisserie. Such a bright, vibrant place. We ordered espresso, blueberry lemonade, fleur-de-pistache, and harmony pastries. Highly recommend blueberry lemonade and especially fleur de pistache. Delicious, rich, and decadent!! Very friendly service as well. There is a parking lot on Castro street and if you're lucky, street parking is available too.

The Bread Pudding in a Jar was meh; it tasted like apple pie on bread. The description sounds way fancier than it tasted. I would not recommend this dessert.

I recently visited Alexander's Patisserie, and it’s safe to say this is not your average bakery. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a stunning display of pastries and cakes that are nothing short of edible art. The attention to detail in the design is incredible each treat feels like a masterpiece made just for you. Whether you’re looking for a show stopping cake for a special event or just a beautiful pastry to brighten your day, this bakery delivers on creativity. But it’s not all about looks. The flavors live up to the aesthetic, and then some. Every bite bursts with rich, fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced, and undeniably delicious. The croissants are buttery and flaky, And the unique flavor combinations make for a memorable experience. However, all this artistry comes with a price. While the quality is undeniable, the prices are on the higher side, which might make it more of an occasional indulgence rather than a daily treat. If you’re looking for something special and don’t mind paying a bit extra for both taste and presentation, this bakery is

Google
4.5/5 Well executed, perfectly looking desserts! I wasn't expecting to find a good quality bakery in the Bay Area, but was happy to stumble upon this one. I try pistachio desserts wherever I go and these ones were solid: not overwhelmingly sweet, the one with the raspberry mousse was so well balanced (in many places raspberry overpowers, but here it was perfectly creamy and subtle), beautifully designed with a stable mousse (which survived a day-long transportation!), crunchy and well-layered croissant. The only missing bit was pistachio tasting not strong enough. I wish it were so that the desserts could be perfect in every way.

Google
Food was tasty, in the $11-13 range for desserts, $6 for croissant. Nice indoor and outdoor seating in a lively part of Mountain View. Recommend it over Alexander's across the street. Don't come with expectations of like, world class desserts, and you will be satisfied.

Yelp
I stop by pretty often on my way to caltrain to get some kind of croissant. They are amazing!! one of my favs - pistachio croissant!!

Yelp
When it comes to my husband Sunday brunch lately, he prefers Alexander patisseries. He thinks they have the best croissant compared to any bakery such as Manresa and Madison Alyse. If you try it you would know, the crispy outside layer cannot be compared. Plus, my daughter loves it too. We also like their latte as well. Espresso is a bit less on par with Manresa, but like anything in life nothing is perfect. Their service has been improved a lot. They bring us the items now if we're dinning in. A lot more options comparing to before. I personally like their champagnes; they bring the bottle out, open it and pour it for me. Although, today they skipped or missed our oat milk latte. When I went to tell them that we're still waiting on our latte, the employee said "you had one latte, do you want another one?" But we never received any! It would be nicer if they have asked if we've received our latte or not instead of assuming we already got it. The male employee apologized and female employee made one immediately and brought it to our table. Overall, this is still a great place for our family to spend lazy Sunday morning before we set the agenda to wrap up the weekend.

Yelp
Paid by card. Alexander's Patisserie is across the street from Maison Alyzee and offers street parking. I went in on a Wednesday morning and was really excited to try because the items in the pictures looked so beautiful. I was very disappointed with the service since 2 workers ignored me and were not friendly. I was having a hard time deciding but even when I decided, it was hard to get their attention since they still seemed asleep or uninterested in helping. I ended up getting some macarons and chocolates, which the worker put in plastic bags. I asked for a box, but they said they didn't have any. I was expecting better packaging for such a nice display. Not sure I would go back to support because of the bad service.

Yelp
A great vibe for chilling with friends over pastries and beverages, if you're prepared to pay the premium that comes with this Instagram worthy pattiserie. Beautiful displays, we got the Chocolate bomb and the bread pudding. Both pastries were delicious and rich. They also have a selection of teas and other beverages if you're feeling like one. You pay at the counter and they hand over your pastries to you right there and give you a number to take to your table where they bring your drink. Water is self-serve and available in a dispenser by the end of the counter where you can serve yourself. The desserts are rich enough that you will find yourself reaching for some water anyway. The desserts are pricey around $12-$15 each and artistically created to make for great pictures. However, if your looking for a value for money option, you may want to venture elsewhere.

Yelp
This is a French bakery in Mountain View , Castro street . Their cakes are so delicious. Also have a ceramic section with tea bags for sale . You can enjoy a cup of tea and your favorite cakes . Please see attached photos for the beautiful cakes and desserts .

Yelp
A very classy establishment - nice decor and nice vibe . We tried their breakfast menu and ordered the following : 1) croissant w avocado and goat cheese - this was an excellent dish - it came w a poached egg on top and was absolutely delicious . 4.4/5 2) roast beef panini - very tasty and fresh . The combination of roast beef and peppers was very tasty . I wish they would put just a tad bit more meat though. 4/5 We also had an Americano which was ok and an excellent hot chocolate Service was top notch ! Recommended

Yelp
If you want the viral flat croissant, you can try it here! I've been seeing this on Instagram, so I wanted try. I ended up getting the hazelnut croissant, which tastes like a hazelnut pocky, but the croissant was crispy and buttery. I loved the pieces of hazelnut. It was definitely a favorite, as I brought some home for my family to try! The Earl Grey cake was a bit too sweet, so I would recommend a tea to contrast. I would recommend getting a couple of different pieces of cake and sharing because they are a bit on the pricier side. They also have a lot of chocolate pieces, which seem a bit too pricey, but this is the Bay, so you get what you pay for.

Yelp
I've been in here a few times but never wrote a review. I went on a Friday night with a friend around 8 pm and I was surprised how packed this place is! I ordered a hot tea that was gigantic. I think they have decent tea selection. I have had their cakes before and they are excellent, but pretty expensive. Like a piece of cake is about $15 now! It did seem like a fun Friday night place to hang out - but there weren't even seats available when we left around 9 pm.

Yelp
Alexander's Patisserie is such a treat. It is a great place to get beautiful french desserts. I feel like Alexander's flavors are unique where some of them incorporate untraditional flavors. I highly recommend the earl grey and chocolate desserts. They also have macarons as well as chocolates which make perfect gifts. Service is always kind and will tape down the desserts in the box for you if you have to travel long distances.

Yelp
We made a reservation for a tea time prior to for a birthday. Parking was easy, and the area surrounding was very cute despite the rainy day. I must say, for the price point and experience, that we were disappointed with the ambience. Sure, we had a reserved table that was set up nicely, but we were expecting more of a private room / less busy experience. Our table was right next to the register counter. Definitely made the experience less intimate. Service was also slow - we had to get up from the table to ask for assistance often. Despite these issues, the food and the tea was AMAZING! And definitely made up for the ambience. Definitely add the Wagyu sliders if you do come. And yes, you'll have leftovers! We'll probably try the other locations to compare in the future.

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday night and the place was very busy. We ordered the orange cheesecake, earl gray tart, and a seasonal chocolate cake in the form of a Christmas tree. Nothing really stood out, earl gray cake was too bitter, the seasonal tree was underwhelming, but the cheesecake was good. The pricing was absurd, we spent nearly $50 with a bottle of water added. With so many better and more affordable options to be had, this'll be the last time I come here.

Yelp
One of my favorite patisserie! They have delicious coffee and pastries. I really enjoy the honeycomb latte and the almond croissant. The banana croissant is delicious too. Their small desserts are wonderful...and the delicate designs are very artistic.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. We have tried variety of parties and it's always good. It's experience though! The service is good, staff are friendly. The location is also nice & clean.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying I have come here before to try various macaroons and other beautiful desserts with friends. The inside of the shop is efficient and presents the treats wonderfully. I happened to be free and try out their 10 year anniversary event and loved all the different pastries I got to sample. The staff was friendly and was able to answer my questions about the pastries that were out for sampling. I would recommend to come here if you don't want to be disappointed with fancy & tasty treats! Just expect to pay a price that matches the quality.

Yelp
Pastries here are a true piece of hard and also taste awesome too! We tried two cakes: - Sesame cake: 5/5 must try - Harmony: 4/5 for the look and shininess, 3.5 for taste Their herbal tea makes a great pairing with the desserts.

Yelp
I was craving for pie and was in the neighborhood so I dropped by Alexander's patisserie. Unfortunately they sold out of the pecan pie! I got the next best thing which was a dark chocolate pastry. Most of the pastries are sold out if you come later in the evening. The place is packed with lots of groups enjoying their desserts after dinner and more people trickling in close to their closing time. Overall, this is not my first time coming here. I got some pastries for another friend before but this time I came for myself. Yum!

Yelp
The pastries are good but expensive. We had brunch here for the first time last weekend, and based on the price of the pastries and candy, I thought I might need to sell a kidney to eat here, but it wasn't actually that bad. The food came pretty quickly and it tasted good. The portion sizes were not large, but not small. If you were hungry or are a big eater, I don't think one brunch plate will do. But for me, I don't much like to overeat anymore (kind of shun the all you can eat buffets), so the portion size made me feel like I was content, but not at all full. I had an omelette, my daughter had the avocado toast with egg on top, and my wife had some sort of tornado or hurricane thing. It looked good, but the name despite being unique clearly wasn't memorable to me. . .but I'm old, so let's just chalk it up to that. So nice experience, we'd be happy to come here again. Limited selection, but still enough to find something nice to eat. Ordered at the counter, server brought the food out, so service was fine. We sat outside, so ambiance was typical Castro St street ambiance.

Yelp
(Mountain View) Food: 9.3/10 Fleur de pistache: Flavor profile is just amazing. It includes different layers of textures. I can definitely taste the pistachio. Only mark down is that I wish it was more aesthetically pleasing since it is expensive 9/10 Exotic cheesecake: I normally don't like cheesecake but this is one of the best I've had. It was perfectly sweet. Mango and passion fruit on top was just spot on. Great texture Setting: Plenty of seats. Utensils look fancy. There is a self service water station which is a plus . You can see people studying, friends/family/solo Service: great service. Don't really expect much from places like this but staff brought us our drinks and were friendly. Price: place is expensive no question about it. But you pay for the quality which the food in here are top notch.

Yelp
Definitely a bit pricey, but all their items are soooo pretty. I like their cakes and pastries! Their coffee is also not bad. Would pass on the flat croissant... takes away all the fluff and joy and leaves you with the equivalent of a biscuit. Inside there is plenty of seating and it's all very posh and afternoon tea -esque. I like the vibes!

Yelp
Delightful pastries, drinks, and a place to come for breakfast or lunch. Alexander's Patisserie has nice indoor and outdoor seating. The Matcha latte tasted fresh and premium with real fragrant strawberries. I enjoyed their pastries as well. The interior looked modern with comfortable chairs, and the waiters were very friendly. When I came on a Sunday, it was a bit stuffy inside with an odd odor.

Yelp
Delicious desserts but $$$ I've been meaning to come to Alexander's for years to try their desserts and finally had a chance recently when I was in Mountain View for dinner. Their location on Castro St and late-ish hours make it easy to stop by for dessert after dinner nearby. We stopped by around 6:30 pm on Tuesday to pick up dessert, and while the selection was limited, there were still some appealing options. There's plenty of seating inside, but we opted to take the dessert to go and ate it at my friend's place nearby. We decided to share the Abricot Citronne ($15), an adorable apricot-shaped dessert with apricot confit and apricot mousse. It's definitely pricy for the small size, but both of us really enjoyed it. The inside was softer than expected and had a nice apricot flavor. I wouldn't mind stopping by again for dessert next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
Beautiful vibes. Comfortable and cozy inside. Everything looks very good and tastes just as good as it looks. High quality foods and experiences comes at a cost. Not cheap for sure. $14-$16 for a piece of petite cake and $14-$17 for breakfast meal. Clean, modern, and organized. They give you a number for your table. Great menu selections and beautiful food presentation on your plate. Yes, too beautiful to eat! Or, too beautiful not to eat? Fruits and salads used were fresh. Croissant was mighty soft and crusty in each bite. My Champion's Croissant was made to perfection. Excellent in taste and texture. Hot cup of Peppermint Mocha was a bit sweeter than expected, but still good. Earl Grey Blackberry cake was a delicious delight for the day. I had to take it home instead of eating it inside. Awesome desserts and pastries. Everything looks tempting. Good service. December is filled with holiday vibes. Not many crowds on a cold December weekday morning. Staffs are well trained to carry your order to your table. Dispose your own trash into the trash bin after eating. I like this spot very much. They have tea for 2 as well. Nice, dim, and quiet inside for sure. I enjoyed sitting by the window, just watching life outside on Castro Street. Lovely place to chill. Good staff members.

Yelp
Alexander's Patisserie in downtown Mountain View is a beautiful spot to relax and catch up on work, with coffee and pastries that are undeniably gorgeous. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and each sweet is a feast for the eyes. However, my overall experience landed at a solid 3 stars. Let's break it down: The Ambiance: Great for chilling. This is a lovely spot to unwind, grab a coffee, and maybe do some work on your laptop. The Pastries: A double-edged sword. Visually stunning, these pastries are like tiny works of art. However, they tend to be on the richer and denser side, which might not be for everyone. While the overall quality is there, the taste itself was just okay. They are also quite expensive, which makes the value proposition a bit questionable. Flavors: Interesting, but imbalanced. I tried the Earl Grey, a chocolate mousse with an orange center. The concept was intriguing, but the orange flavor was muted and didn't quite complement the chocolate as well as I'd hoped. The passion fruit and chai chocolates were decent, but again, nothing that stood out. The Verdict: Alexander's Patisserie is a great place to grab a coffee and enjoy a beautiful, Instagram-worthy pastry. However, if you're looking for the most flavorful or budget-friendly option, you might want to explore elsewhere.

Yelp
Really liked the variety of desserts! Despite the fact that my friend and I walked in the late evening, the assortment was great. There are plenty of flavours of French macarons and chocolate candies. As a big pistachio fan, I enjoyed Fleur de Pistachio as well as Pecan Vanilla. I tried Alexander's Patisserie before, but really wanted to check out this location and left satisfied.

Yelp
We stopped by here after dinner and got a few things for dessert. Nice elegant bakery where you can sit and relax and enjoy your drink or dessert! La Fraise: Strawberry confits, velvety strawberry cremeux, light vanilla chiffon, and vanilla mousse. (4/5) This was a classic dessert. Light and fluffy chiffon cake. The cream was light and not too sweet. Strawberry Flat Croissant: Flattened butter croissant with caramelized sugar, covered in strawberry chocolate. (3/5) This was a very popular item. It sorta reminded me of a palmier. But, a couple of us felt like it was slightly burnt or very browned. Black Sesame Latte Dessert - (4/5) My wife forgot the name/description. She didn't want to hold up the line of people. It was a black sesame cream with coffee flavored cake. It was pretty tasty and not too sweet. I wish it had a strong black sesame taste, but that's just me. My wife enjoyed it.

Yelp
After hearing about flat croissants and seeing it all over my feed, I added this to my list of places to try. Last weekend, I made a reso for their afternoon tea for 2. Recently I've been on a French bakery kick to try the best croissants and chocolate croissants in the Bay Area. Despite the horrible weather conditions, I still managed to make the drive down to Mountain View from the East Bay. They understood and graciously saved my table until I arrived after making two calls to ensure that I was still coming. Upon arrival, it was a packed house in spite of the raining weather. The staff were efficient took and made orders accordingly. As soon as I entered, the bakery reminded me of a place I frequent in HK for afternoon tea. Their beautifully presented cakes, chocolates, and pastries were so inviting that it made me want to try everything..but I saved it until our afternoon tea was done. My DD ordered Paris For Two (highly recommend this) vs my Mango Black to share. Our tower of pastries, cakes, and tea sandwiches arrived no too long after. Loved how the staff explained everything in detail. After taking pics, we delved right in as we skipped breakfast. Also, our drive took over 90 min vs the 50 min we were initially quoted. Needless to say we were hungry. We started at the bottom tea sandwiches. Egg salad with truffle oil (didn't taste much egg as it was overpowered by the truffle oil and the bread tasted a bit dry and stale), smoked turkey and cheese (very flavorful, my fav in the savory section), crab cake with crust less bread (a bit soggy, bread was actually wet). Next were the scones. My DD loves scones. Me? I am never pleased with them as they're hard to nail. DD loved how soft and flakey they were. I felt that it lacked flavor. When we spread apricot and strawberry preserves on top, it made it better. The cakes, macarones, chocolate. This is usually my favorite. I started with the muffin/ mini cupcake. There was a sliver of almond on top of the white ..cream? But I couldn't tell you what flavor it was supposed to be. Evrry bite tasted just...sweet. Macaroons. There was a raspberry and a pistachio. Again, I could really taste the raspberry flavor even after rinsing my palette with water and tea. The pistachio just tasted like almond paste center. The lemon, coconut cake was tastey. Finally something that had layers of flavor I could decipher. The raspberry chocolate cake was also decent. The chocolate was good. By that time of the meal my whole mouth was sugared out that I went back to pick at the last egg salad sandwich to balance it out. Overall, it wasn't my favorite afternoon tea experience. The cakes were hit or miss. However, I was hoping that their signature pastries that I picked up to go would save my experience at Alexander's. When I got home, I immediately took bites of the flat strawberry croissant, a plain croissant and the chocolate, as I really want to see what the hype was about. People commented about it tasting like a palmier cookie, which I am quite familiar with having just had many recently. Also, working for a bakery that specialized in palmier cookies, I'd know. To my disappointment, the taste of the / flat / croissant was just that...flat. It wasn't butter. There was really no depth to the flavors. The strawberry dipped chocolate and dried strawberries was nice touch. But that's about it. Perhaps other flavors would have been better? Onto the the plain croissant and pain au chocolat. Note: I have recently had both at my favorite French bakery so I really wanted these two to be pastries that saves my experience at Alexander's. Ugh. It didn't. The croissants weren't flakes at all. No buttery flavor..it almost needed a pinch of salt. The texture inside was almost "bready" and it seemed like the top wasn't brushed to give it that glow that adds the crispiness with each bite. Sigh. I had high hopes for this bakery and really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, I didn't. The Paris For Two, the smoked Turkey, and Lemon Coconut cake, and the Raspberry Chocolate cakes in the tier were the things I DID like. If I am in the area again, I would mind trying their match tiramisu and mango cheesecake. They did look really good.

Yelp
When you want a croissant, you get a croissant! And these 2D croissants from @alexanderspatisserie were calling our name! They had a few flavors, but we decided to try the strawberry and chocolate. This was totally new to us, but it was a super flakey, crispy, buttery, goodness. You can still see all the layers and it was definitely fun to eat. We also decided to get an almond croissant because you have to get that right before anything else, and they definitely nailed it! They have many other croissants, which we hope to try next time like banana chocolate and apple, and also other pastries, chocolate, and drinks! It's a nice place to meet up with friends or do some work. Parking was kind of hard though on a Sunday was our only thing

Yelp
Their pastries/ desserts looked great but I personally preferred Maison Alyzee which is across from them. Their sesame "cake" was very mild and I couldn't taste the roasted sesame. I liked that it was not overly sweet but their cake base was a tad dry. It's unfortunate that the taste didn't match up with their price and its presentation.

Yelp
Really cute & chic bakery with delicious pastries. The store is really spacious -- you can order your coffee & pastries for take out but there's also a whole section of the restaurant where you can sit down and eat as well. I really enjoyed the flat croissant. For me, it's the best part of the croissant -- the crispiness and flakiness of a croissant. The strawberry glaze and freeze-dried strawberries also added a nice touch. Would come back just for this. The almond croissant was pretty good but not amazing. The croissant itself was flaky and fluffy. The filling was good but personally thought there was too much filling so that's all you taste in eat bite. It's a little too overpowering and felt like I was mainly just eating that. 100% have to heat it up before eating -- otherwise, it tastes very mid. Overall, their desserts & pastries are yummy but don't think it's worth the drive here if you don't live in the area.

Yelp
This place was so cute! I saw it on TikTok and wanted to try the flat croissants. The service was great as I placed a pickup in store order and got it within 10 minutes. I got 4 pastries; 2 flat croissants, a ham and cheese croissant, and a chocolate lava croissant. The hazelnut flat croissant was my favorite as it was perfectly sweet and I loved the additions of hazelnut pieces on it! The strawberry flat croissant was delicious but the strawberry coating was a bit too sweet and overpowering in my mouth. The ham and cheese croissant was good but it wasn't warm when we got it so that was a bummer. I've had better ham and cheese croissants from other places so I was a bit disappointed in this one. The chocolate lava croissant wasn't anything special either; it just tasted like a typical croissant you can buy from a supermarket but topped with cocoa powder. Overall, I would give this place 4 stars out of 5 as I enjoyed the novelty of the flat croissants but the regular croissants were pretty basic and didn't really have anything special to them. However, I can't recommend the hazelnut flat croissant enough as that one was delicious. Would definitely come back for that one :)

Yelp
We came here for the flat croissants and they definitely did not disappoint! My go-to, always, is a croissant for breakfast so this new innovative version, was very interesting and delicious especially dipped in hot coffee! We got here around 2pm on a Saturday and they were still pretty fully stocked. It was busy but not too overcrowded. We waited in line for about 30 minutes and found a small table for 2 right away. There were two staff members helping everyone and even though it was quite busy, they were both very patient, communicative and had smiles on their faces. The bakery/restaurant itself was a decent size and could be perfect for breakfast and/or brunch dates and even more perfect for their afternoon tea service -- this looked so cute!! Will definitely be looking into this next time. We got one of each of the flat croissants: mango, strawberry and hazelnut, a ham & cheese croissant (heated), 4 macarons, a large drip coffee and an iced matcha latte with oat milk. All came out to around $60. Ham & cheese was savory and flaky - my all time fave. Each of the flat croissants were chocolate dipped in each of their distinguished flavors and that added a very nice touch. The texture is more like a flaky cookie, but you get that croissant flavor. The macarons were perfect - soft, chewy and not too sweet. Our drinks were good and made to our specifications. Overall, if you love croissants, you'll appreciate the flat croissant. And if you don't see them in the case, ask for them! They could be hiding in the back. Enjoy!!

Yelp
My husband said the ham & cheese croissant was delicious. I tried the cappuccino macaron and also the iced strawberry matcha. Everything is beautifully made, but I wasn't so impressed with the taste of the items I tried. Macaron texture was really good, but I would try a different flavor.

Yelp
More often than not, I've had the misfortune of getting macarons that are the most awful texture. They tasted gritty, like an eggshell, and would not dissolve in my mouth. The batches were most likely not mixed properly. This was last year and may not be relevant now that several months have passed, but I didn't see anyone else mention the problem. I do love the flat croissants though, they taste like a ritz cracker. I love ritz crackers and have not been able to have one in years.

Yelp
Happened to bump into this place and I must say I got lucky. Been wanting to go this place in forever. Mid week early evening and the place wasn't busy. First visit we ordered the Mango Blossom: mango confit, mango remeuz, vanilla chiffon & mousse, and passion fruit whip. passion fruit whip was a good addition, a bit overwhelming but a good touch. mouse was very light. 2nd visit we got Pink de Pistache: pistachio mousse, fuilletine, praline and raspberry cremeux on pistachio dacquise. Love the pistachio, praline gave a nice crunch and a break from the light and airy texture of the dessert. Service was great. place is nice and clean.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place to me when I was visiting her, and it was pretty good! I had a caramel iced latte and an apple croissant. The croissant has a dome shape, so I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was hollow lololol I think I'm more used to softer, more airy croissants. This one was on the crunchier side, but it tasted great nonetheless! The iced coffee was okay, I do wish it were more flavorful. It tasted more like milk than anything. My friend really enjoys their strawberry matcha, I'm not big on matcha but she def recommends!

Yelp
We found this excellent little pastry and coffee shop unexpectedly while wandering around Castro Street in Mountain View after checking out the local farmer's market. They have a great selection of original pastries, such as the Uber Mont Blanc, imperial chocolate cake, and do much more. You can enjoy these with the excellent selection of coffee drinks and other choices that they serve here. They have plenty of room and it feels classy and comfortable while relaxing there, the staff was very friendly and professional. I will certainly be back to enjoy more of their delightful treats!

Yelp
I came to Alexander's Patisserie for their viral flat croissant, and I wound up falling in love with their elegant desserts, sumptuous tiramisu, and velvety coffee. Alexander's Patisserie comes from the same team that has brought Alexander's Steakhouse and ONE65 to the region. Honestly, I have only heard of Alexander's Patisserie thanks to their signature flat croissant, which for the past few months is the only thing that everyone is talking about online from social media to food blogs. So when I was in the Mountain View area on weeknight evening, and I found out that they were the rare café that not only opens early but opens late as well, I knew I had to make a visit to Alexander's Patisserie. Located on a busy stretch of Castro Street in Mountain View, the street remains closed to traffic, so finding parking for a simple pastry and coffee run could be a challenge, but I managed to get lucky as there was a space on nearby Villa Street, which serves as a main thoroughfare for automobiles that crosses Castro Street. After walking around the bustling neighborhood, I managed to make my way into Alexander's Patisserie, and there wasn't a major crowd nor were all of their table inside their restaurant area filled, so I was happy to order my pastries for the road while also taking a moment to enjoy everything that I would acquire that evening, especially since it was it was still dusk outside. The beverage menu is quite eclectic at Alexander's Patisserie, as they have your traditional coffee drinks with drip coffees, espressos, cappuccinos and the like, and they have a tea service, including tea for two, in addition to wine and beer. Upon checking in on my Yelp app, I realized that you could get one free coffee with any purchase, and when I asked their café associate if this deal was still being honored, she said it was so I had the option of a regular drip coffee or an Americano and I ordered the latter. I love that Alexander's Patisserie has all of their available desserts displayed in a glass case ready to admire and drool over, and there was something about their elegant domed Harmony pastry that was calling my name. Made with dark chocolate and hazelnut mousse, served on a bed of hazelnut sponge cake. This dessert, which was fourteen dollars, was so classy that I didn't want to break the shell of its exterior. I also noticed they were serving a couple of different desserts placed in plastic jars with lids and I ordered their Tiramisu in a jar. And of course, since I came for their Flat Croissants, their croissant dipped in a mango flavored hard chocolate. With three packed desserts in my takeout paper bag and a coffee in a takeout paper cup, I decided to stay and take in the atmosphere. With the WiFi having an easily accessible signal didn't hurt too much either, as I would see a number of visitors enjoying themselves with a warm drink and pastry. And I simply couldn't resist taking a bite of my Mango Flat Croissant, which was buttery and flaky, it was definitely more cookie-like than anything croissant-like. My total bill was 37.10 dollars before gratuity was added in, which was definitely on the higher price point side, and that did include the complimentary coffee. Upon my return home, I was able to enjoy my Harmony cake and Tiramisu and they were both elegant and delectable at the same time, and were the real stars of this trip to Alexander's Patisserie. Of course being so late in the evening, I couldn't finish my coffee beverage and so I saved it for the following morning to be reheated and it tasted just as velvety smooth as when I drank a few sips the evening before. I cannot wait to return and try their elegant tea pairing with the wide variety of global teas they have. It sounds as good as advertised, because at Alexander's Patisserie, you may come for the buzz but you will leave with so much more with every visit.

Yelp
WOW - I didn't know this place was here on Castro in Mountain View. I've been to the one in Cupertino a LONG time ago and thought they were small and just okay. Decided to check this place out and now I need to plan another trip back!! We love ham and cheese croissants - we get it at another place that I shall not name - so we wanted to compare. I have to say - it was very good - they actually have a LOT of ham in their croissant and their croissant was light and airy. It was missing something though. I think it needed something like a light sauce or mayo? Otherwise it ate a little dry compared to the other place we go to... MY FAVORITE was the black sesame croissant! OMG - so much black sesame filling inside a flaky light croissant!! it was AMAZING!! And I love how the filling had that black sesame taste and wasn't too strong, overpowering or sweet! It was PERFECT!! Need to definitely go back and try more of their desserts. Cute shop with lots of seating. Very upscale like their steakhouse. Service was nice and they seemed to have a lot of staff so that was nice. Am definitely going back to try more! Will update then! :)

Yelp
For years my best friend has been buying my birthday cake here! This was the first year he took me to try other desserts. Everyone was polite and very helpful in recommending different things to try. We tried two different desserts and let me just say I don't know if I'll be ready to try anything new just yet with how delicious these were. The place is very cute with tables by the window and booths towards the end. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Took myself out on a date for some dessert for dinner! I had a heavy lunch so I was looking for something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I ordered the Earl Grey cake which had an orange compote. The flavor profile was interesting. I like the Earl Grey cake from Satura better. The honeycomb latte was delicious! I saw a lady picking up her order and I was intrigued. She told me it was one of her favorites. I enjoyed the texture of the honeycomb crumbles. I'll be back for that the next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Wandered in here after lunch & wow these are pricey but beautiful- and delicious, Earl grey cake is a gleaming work of art & subtly flavored, big hit w the Asian Fam which dislike overly sweet desserts. $58 for big cake or $13 for mini Kinako Mochi spiral croissant was $10 and we loved it- great textures & freshness, good size too, we split between 2 people. Gibraltar coffee was strong, excellent. A little bit of a wait but overall positive visit.

Yelp
Desserts were all visually appealing, I had a hard time deciding which one to buy! I ended up getting the Fleur D'hiver (vanilla mousse), which costed a little over 15 dollars. The portion size was pretty big, definitely filling, and had a super rich and creamy taste, plus some interesting textures (from the thin white chocolate decorations as well as the crunchy chocolate praline on bottom). This is the type of bakery that I'd only come to every once in awhile, definitely pricey but delicious!

Yelp
I gotta come back to try more! Bit pricey but what isn't around here anymore. I got the early grey and chocolate croissant. Not a huge fan of the early grey since I don't really like that flavor but it did indeed taste like it. Delicious chocolate inside. The chocolate croissant has nearly no chocolate inside but had plenty on top.

Yelp
Was gifted macarons from this place. They are the very best ones I've ever eaten, and I will for sure keep this authentic patisserie in mind when I'm in Mountain View.

Yelp
I needed some cakes last minute and Alexander's was available to order online for pickup the next day, so that was perfect! I really appreciated that. We had the earl grey cake and the passionfruit mousse cake (a Father's Day special). I was ready to be disappointed but actually both cakes were delicious and just the right amount of sweetness! It helps that they are also gorgeous! I'm intrigued by the Asian flavored croissants as they're a weakness of mine, but I just have to convince myself to pay $7 for a croissant first. I'll probably do it, not gonna lie haha

Yelp
Right now they are having a seasonal special where you can order a pecan pie or pumpkin pie! Overall, this place is a little overpriced but has a good selection of desserts made with relatively high quality ingredients. The pastries are good but the drinks, like hot chocolate and coffee, seem overpriced for such a small cup. Average service and noisy environment with limited seating.

Yelp
Came here on a rainy Saturday and the place was still packed. We were able to get a seat after a brief wait as there was regular turnover. Everyone has to bus their own table they aren't the cleanest. Got the ham and cheese croissant which was quite good - very flavorful with something that tasted like a bechamel sauce inside. Also was decently satisfied with their butter croissant and pain au chocolat. Obviously not as good as what you'd get in France but for California, it's pretty good. Also tried the flat croissant since it was advertised but personally I couldn't understand the appeal. I'd rather have the fluffy flaky texture of the croissant.

Yelp
i come in here frequently && let me tell ya! the croissants are off the chain and when matched with a coffee or tea, nothing is better!

Yelp
Forget the plane ticket! Alexander's Patisserie in Mountain View transported me straight to a charming Parisian cafe. First impressions: The bakery is beautifully decorated with chic vibes and spacious seating. Think marble countertops and plenty of natural light - perfect for a leisurely brunch or afternoon pick-me-up. Onto the food, their croissants are absolute perfection. Savory & sweet options. Flaky, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They also have a mind-blowing selection of desserts. I tried the sesame latte and mochi croissant and it was an explosion of taste and texture. Unique flavors are definitely their thing - you won't find boring old pastries here. Don't forget the coffee (or tea). They have a wide variety of coffee drinks, all brewed to perfection. I enjoyed a latte that was smooth, creamy, and the perfect complement to my pastry. If the weather cooperates, grab a seat on their lovely outdoor patio. Soaking up the sun while indulging in these treats is pure bliss. Alexander's Patisserie is a gem! I try to visit every time I am in the area. Whether you're looking for a delicious breakfast, a decadent dessert, or just a chic place to relax with your boo or girlies, this is your spot. Highly recommend!
