Where to Eat Pierogi in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"Found at several local stores, Alexandra’s pierogi are the preferred freezer-section pierogi of Polish grandmas. But there’s no need to go on an epic quest throughout the city: the factory store in Irving Park sells all 16 varieties, all packaged and ready to go." - Aimee Levitt

Google
Purchased two packages of pierogies and they were both a very dark grey color when I opened the packages. Did not think they were safe to eat so I threw them out and emailed the company. It’s been well over a month and have I yet to get a response.

Google
I ate these pierogi at our local Portland, Oregon Polish festival. They are without a doubt, the best Commercial pierogi I have ever eaten and I have eaten my weight In Pierogi! The dough to filling ratio is excellent, and the fillings are extremely tasty. The cabbage/mushroom is my favorite. I bought some to take home and wish I could find these in my local supermarkets. Highly recommended!

Google
Perfect pierogi’s made according to an old Polish recipe have been consistently delicious for years. In my opinion, this is a classic of Polish food and cuisine. Nice, friendly and very helpful service. I recommend this store one hundred percent.

Google
I disagree with their statement ‘All Natural’; ‘Fully hydrogenated soybean oil, artificial butter flavor, TBHQ’? These are definitely not ‘All Natural’ ingredients. Very misleading.

Google
Seems service is getting worse and worse. Polish women use to be great, super friendly and made you feel welcome and appreciated every transaction. Now it’s very transactional and unappreciated, not to mention the language barrier, not English or Polish 😳🤷‍♂️ Also, every time I’ve spent over $100 they threw in a couple packs of blitzes or pierogi as a extra thank you. This time, almost spent $300 and nothing… wasn’t expecting it but it’s always nice to get that little extra as a thank you. Customer service is definitely going down hill lately 🤦‍♂️ Pierogi are still great for a commercial producer, hopefully they don’t cheap out and change the recipe or product suppliers.

The food is good , the stuff is okay the location is perfect ( about 5 min walking from my place )

Google
Absolutely delicious! Best pierogis I’ve ever had. I asked the young girl working what her favorite was and she said sweet cabbage. I’m so glad I asked and tried them, I wouldn’t have if she hadn’t said she loved them. They are my favorite! 💕

Olivia Siniarski-Czaplicki

Google
The best and easiest pierogis this side of Poland. I was buying these from my local Polish store and recently ordered directly from their website. So helpful when I asked for tracking details. Pierogi arrived still frozen solid. (To Florida in summer..) Quality and taste are amazing. This will be on our monthly shopping list from now on. 🙌🏼💜🥟🥟

Yelp
The best place for polish pierogi! So many flavors ! Potatoes, bacon, cheese, blueberry, meat, kraut and mushrooms. The best in Chicago!

Yelp
Having worked at Alexandra Foods, I can vouch for the owners' unwavering commitment to kitchen cleanliness and quality ingredients. This family-run pierogi store in Chicago stands out with some of the best pierogi in the city. Not only are they a breeze to cook, but the taste is consistently amazing. My personal favorites include the meat, cabbage, potato, and cheddar pierogi, along with the delightful plum and cherry varieties. Don't miss out on their delicious kopytka. Alexandra Foods truly delivers an authentic and delicious Polish pierogi experience.

Yelp
Best tasting pierogi with a great flavor selection. Favorites are potato & cheese and kraut, potato & bacon. Service is always pleasant and quick, great prices.

Dorota S.

Yelp
Great pierogi and blintzes. You can find a big variety of pierogi. Quick and friendly service.

Yelp
The atmosphere at this place is fun. They have old MTV videos playing GenXer music, which made me happy. The food is phenomenal. The staff was very nice. I recommend the meatball sandwich. It was a good value.

Yelp
This is not a restaurant, but they have a TON of different varieties of pierogies to take home. My favorite is the mushroom. It is a little more expensive than some of the other varieties, but stuffed FULL of mushrooms & 100% worth it! I also love the potato and cheddar. Those 2 are my go-to selection, especially since I never see only mushroom in the stores. I recently tried one of the fruit pierogies, the blueberry one. They are stuffed with tons of blueberries (not pie filling type, just blueberries). I pan fried mine, sprinkled with a little sugar and served them à la mode with some vanilla bean ice cream. Very good, and I'm excited to checknout some of the other fruit varieties. They take cash & card. There is a parking lot directly north on the side of the building.

Yelp
Who doesn't love pierogi? They have the best prices and quality here, just ask all the Polish grandmas who line up on weekends. The cashiers are all bilingual (Polish and English) so don't feel weird if everyone before you is ordering in a language you can't understand

Maryann S.

Yelp
The Best!! I stock Up when I go!! Alway Fun to Bring someone new on Polish Adventure! My favorite after Kraut is the Potato, Bacon, Kraut.

Ingo S.

Yelp
I made the frozen Pierogi according to the directions. They stuck together, stuck to the pan and ultimately decintigrated and were inedible. Called to express my concerns. Phone picks up. No one on the line.

Yelp
A great one stop shop for one of my favorites, pierogi's. They have all kinds of pierogi from sweet to savory as well as cheese blintzes, dumplings and other Polish delicacies. Now it's not a restaurant only a shop and go store. Still, they are all made fresh then frozen and packaged attractively. It's a great way to buy only a package or two or twenty or you favorite and take home to enjoy or take home and freeze for later on down the road at a very reasonable price. But as with any Polish food ya gotta be careful or you'll get addicted and well too many pierogi's or dumplings will turn you into a dumpling. Not that theirs anything wrong with that but ya know what I mean. It's a snap, you walk in the menu is on the wall over the freezers, the counter person gets what you want, you pay up and walk out. I went for one package of a dozen savory pierogi and left with cheese blintzes and sweet pierogi's too. It is usually pretty light on traffic, but it does get busy around holidays for sure. Try them out you won't sorry and you'll be supporting local folks.

Yelp
Last time we were in Chi, we picked up a few packs of Alexandra Pierogi at a Polish grocer. They were so delicious that I vowed we'd visit the factory store to stock up. Today was that day. If you're stopping, know that they do have a few dedicated parking spots adjacent to the store. The interior is large and pretty sterile - just a giant counter with cases of pierogi in coolers. I understand that around Christmas and Easter the store is nuts, but we were pretty much the only ones inside today. For pierogies, there are a dozen or so choices - cheese, potato/cheese, meat, mushroom, spinach, maltascher and then several fruit flavors. Prices are cheaper than local stores and decrease the more you buy (we paid around $3/pack - our local stores are around $5). They also make uszka ,meat filled mini dumplings, great in soup) and Silesian dumplings. Service is very Polish meaning more efficient than friendly. English is spoken but it seems like many customers speak primarily Polish. Looking forward to many pierogi feasts to come!!

Yelp
My parents were born in Czechoslovakia, so my Mom made pierogi - light as a feather. But she lived in NJ, and I lived in Illinois. Years ago, I met a Polish lady. I asked her if she made Pierogi? 'No, I buy Alexandra's.' I thought if a Polish person bought these, I had to find this store. I did, and have been buying Alexandra's pierogi ever since. Their factory store is bright and inviting. The people working there are pleasant and efficient. The pierogi are wonderful, the flavors great. Some of the pierogi appear to be hand crimped. With more than a dozen varieties, and other items, there is something for everyone. Almost as good as my Mom's. Almost. I have to admit, though, they do not make the prune pierogi my Mom used to make. She'd simmer pitted prunes in water till plump and put one in each pierogi. I buy Alexandra's plum as a substitute, which are delicious. Still, I miss prune pierogi! Maybe they'd like to add prune to their line up? Thank you, Alexandra, for producing such delicious comfort food. A real treat!

Yelp
I've been going here for my pierogi for over 10 years now. Even though I have occasionally tried others that I bought in grocery stores, I haven't found anything else that compares. Alexandra is the best! My favorite ones are the kraut & mushroom and the potato & cheese. Whenever I'm in the area, I pick up 10 packs (which comes out to be $25 + tax) and keep them in my freezer until I'm ready to cook. So delicious.

Rosa J.

Yelp
Rosa J. has expanded her "Yelp" business! This time she recruited Mama J. to explore around the new neighborhood. Well, Rosa J. yelped without any compensation, but Mama J. was sent to Alexandra's Pierogi on Central Ave., in between Addison and Belmont. I'm a fan of pierogi, so having Alexandra's within walking distance to our house is extraordinarily exciting. According what Mama J. commented, the clerk confidently recommended these three (3) flavors: spinach, kraut/potatoes/bacon, and CHERRY. For fixing the pierogi, there shouldn't be any difficulty. Boil water and drop those bad boys into the pot. Each package is consisted of a dozen pieces, so a total of thirty-six (36) pieces plus some other side dishes in the refrigerator should be a hearty dinner for a family of four (4). - spinach: it was my favorite out of the three (3) contenders. Spinach was chopped and mixed with cheese. It might be slightly salty for some, yet I preferred to be done this way. - kraut/potatoes/bacon: it was Mama J.'s favorite because of the abundance of the filling. You would probably detect that your stomach was half-way full after consuming three (3) of them! - cherry: it might sound strange to see fruit filling in a dumpling. Just think that you're eating a "savory" dessert. The cherry filling was very juicy, so be aware of the juicy splashing out of the wrap. By the way, Mama J. paid $9.50 for these three (3) packs. I've heard that the more you purchase, the less it will cost per pack. I will have to validate this statement since I didn't personally accompany Mama J. FOR SURE I will be back, without a doubt.

Yelp
If you want to try some of the best traditional pierogi's in Chicago you have to stop by Alexandra's Foods. It is basically a wholesale outlet for the items they distribute throughout Chicago. You can usually find Alexandra in your local markets, but once you try them you will want to take advantage of the discounts available at the outlet store. My favorite pierogi's are the sauerkraut, sauerkraut & mushroom and the potato & cheese. The dough is not heavy and the flavors are amazing.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
Best frozen, ready to cook pierogis we have found in the city. My husband is obsessed with pierogis, so much so, he orders them from New Jersey where he grew up. He recently found Alexandra's and now our long distance pierogi relationship is over. We have eaten the spinach, sauerkraut and mushroom, and the potato and cheese. All of them were delicious but the sauerkraut was my personal favorite. Next time I plan to try some of the fruit ones. The price is great! The more you order the cheaper it is. As long as you have the freezer space you may as well go for the big order. There is also free parking, which is a plus since this is not in our neighborhood and we need to drive. If you haven't tried Alexandra's pierogis then you are for sure missing out as we were for the past few years. Glad we found it!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
I've been purchasing pierogi from this factory store for years. They are so delicious and we love the selection. They also have uszka, pyzy, blintzes, finger dumplings, and silesian dumplings. Everything is frozen with cooking instructions on the packaging. The store takes all forms of credit and the staff speaks English, Polish, Ukrainian, etc. Free parking is on the north side of the building with signs.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Why buy pierogis from a middleman when you can go directly to the factory!?! OK, the sign on the side of the building says "Alexandra Foods" but the little round one up off the roof tells the truth- you've found the pierogi factory! So you walk thru the front door into a small room with a couple of counters straight ahead. Step up and tell the girl how many packs of which pierogis you need (don't forget the Blueberry!), pay the amazingly small bill and head home. The pierogis are fresh, really good and CHEAP! Not cheap in the bad way, cheap 'cause you eliminated the middleman and went to the factory! YEAH PIEROGI FACTORY!

Yelp
This place is a riot. Not actually a FUN riot, but a riot. I used to go on these pilgrimages every Christmas down to northern Indiana to buy pierogi for Christmas Eve dinner - exchanging goods for cash in White Castle parking lots, etc. Really. But the guy working on our hours last year (ah, Wally) said "NO!! You spend too much! You have to go to Alexandra!" So this year we did. First of all, know what to expect. You walk in. There's nothing but a counter with a huge row of freezers behind the workers and someone shoves a little clipboard in your hand. While you wait, you check off how many of everything you want. So, BE PREPARED or at least know you'll have to step to the side. Got to the counter. Everyone tried speaking to me in Polish. I was flattered, but am Ukrainian-Russian and had to just look bewildered and helpless till they figured it out. Got my Pierogi and was out of there. I have never seen such efficiency in my life. My head was spinning. Reviews: the cheddar in the potato and cheddar is NOT american (thank god, it's a pet peeve of mine and common). People who love mushrooms loved the mushroom ones. The sweet cheese are perfect. Sweet cheese and potato are perfect. I have yet to try to try the blintzes. They aren't QUITE my grandmas but very very very good, and I'll definitely be back...and prepared!

B E.

Yelp
They are very good pierogi I have to go back again, and buy a few packs ,it's worth the ride over there They are reasonable
google avatar

Marta B.

Yelp
Hands down the best pierogi you will find in Chicago. The sweet cheese is my personal favorite. Other flavors i tried: sauerkraut & cabbage, spinach, mashroom, cherry, blueberry, and strawberry one. All were really tasty, the fruit ones are great with whipped cream. They sell uszka as well. That's basically a smaller version of dumplings, made with meat or mashroom ( great with barszcz- borscht)They might have other flavors, but I'm not sure. Alexandra's pierogi are as close to homemade that you will get. I agree with previous reviews that they run this place like a little factory. You come in, and all you see is a long counter, different pierogi options written above with prices. The ladies working the counter are nice. I can't remember the price exactly, but it's around $3 per pack, each contains 12. Around Christmas times it gets crazy busy, lines all the way out the door. So keep that in mind. Well deserved 5 stars.
google avatar

Aubrey H.

Yelp
Outstanding pierogies! Its been years since i could purchase a pierogi that tast like my grandma made. Loved by everyone
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
Great deal on pierogi. These taste almost like my grandmother's. I usually go a few times a year and stock up and buy for family members as well because the more you buy the cheaper each package is.
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
If there was such a thing as Pierogi Heaven...this would be it! Take-out, homemade, fresh, all flavors imaginable! Buy three or more packages...better price. The more you buy...the cheaper the are. Not the most warm & fuzzy staff if you don't speak Polish...but who cares...the Pierogis are worth it! NOTE: These are uncooked...you must cook them at home (or where ever you get your Pierogi fix on) But they are super easy to either boil or fry. Don't forget the sour cream and/or applesauce! The "M" family favorites... 1. Meat 2. Kraut & Mushroom 3. Potato & Cheese I walked out of there with six dozen for only $14.40! THE best Pierogis this side of Warsaw, not that I have ever been to Warsaw.
google avatar

Mike O.

Yelp
Without a doubt, Alexandra has the best pierogies in town. This place is a pierogi factory with a tiny storefront outlet along Central, but it seems all the Polish people know about it. I stopped in here to stock up for Christmas. In case you didn't know, Christmas Eve is a major pierogi-eating holiday in both Polish and Ukrainian tradition. I usually come in December to get Uszka, which translates into "ears" (little mushroom-kraut pierogies). The line was to the door but the 4 ladies working the counter kept things moving quickly and I was out in under 10 minutes. Seems everyone buys at least $20-$50 worth of frozen pierogies, often by the case-ful. Bulk discounts allow you to get a lower price if you buy more packs. The language spoken by the employees and customers is almost exclusively Polish, though the price list is in English too. To the uninitiated, it can be a scary cultural immersion. Behind me in line was a stereotypical, older Polish woman complete with a babushka, fine moustache on her face, and a bulky handbag. I suspect that she was sizing me up as an all-American boy having no business being here. I was expecting a dirty look from her if I should stumble in placing my order. The moment of truth came. In the best Polish I could muster, I ordered uszka, potato & cheese(Ruskie) pierogies, kraut & mushroom pierogies, and some Sloske kluski for my mom. Bam! I paid and they filled my order on the spot. The fruit-filled pierogies are really an individual preference as I'm not into fruity ones. I like sauerkraut & mushroom or potato & cheese much better. They are always fresh indeed as Kasia M. says. Cultural differences aside, warm some up at home for dinner with lots of butter on top and freeze the rest for next time. You can also find Alexandra pierogies at other Polish stores, including Jerry's Fruit Market in Niles. Alexandra is in the process of expanding all the way to the corner of School St., opening a storefront twice the size in 2008.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
My parents are both from Poland, so naturally we eat plenty of pierogi, nalesniki (crêpes filled with sweet cheese), and uszka (mini pierogi filled with mushrooms that are traditionally eaten with borsch). We always get them here; they take too long to make by hand, and I really don't like Kasia's (even though they're sold all over the place). My family has been coming to Alexandra's since it opened, and I am consistently impressed by the store's cleanliness, customer service, and of course, its selection. I judge stores that aren't clean, and like myself, Alexandra's is clean, neat, and organized. When you walk into the store, you simply walk up to the counter and let the Polish ladies know what you'd like to order. The ladies pull your pierogi out of the freezer for you, and you're ready to go! There's no digging through freezers to find your favorite flavors and, for all the germaphobes, there are no random people touching your pierogi packages. Although most customers who come in are Polish, all of the items available for purchase are translated into English. Still, if you don't speak Polish you may face a bit of a language barrier, but don't let that stop you from trying this place out! Everything I've tried from Alexandra's is delicious, but here are some of my favorite picks: Pierogi ruskie--- "Russian pierogi," which are stuffed with potato and cheese. The filling is super smooth and savory. Uszka--- The little tiny pierogi with mushrooms. Pierogi z kapusta i grzybami--- Pierogi with sauerkraut and mushrooms. They're a little bit bitter, but great as an entree. Pierogi z jagodami--- Blueberry pierogi... they're great topped with blueberry yogurt. ;) Nalesniki--- Crepes stuffed with sweet cheese that are more dessert-ey and on the sweeter side.

Yelp
I can't describe in words how good Alexandra's pierogis are. My husband is 100% polish, and these are better than anything his grandmother, mother, and aunts have ever made. The mushroom pierogi are phenomenal and my favorite on the menu. The farmer cheese and potato are also wonderful. I'm not usually a sauerkraut/cabbage fan (aka kapusta), but these were great. The way we cooked them at home is by boiling until they float and puff up. Then saute with a little butter and serve with sour cream, apple sauce and caramelized onions. ::cue stomach growling::. I highly recommend Alexandra's for non-polish people who want to try authentic polish food, and for polish people who want pierogis better than grandma used to make!
google avatar

John Y.

Yelp
i have been eating pierogi of Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Lithuanian, Slovak and Czech varieties for a long time. Al\exandra's kapusta/ sauer kraut pierogi are awful.... so bitter and tart was the filling, I threw the whole plate of 'em directly in the garbage! I could NOT eat them they were nasty.......! Yuk! The dough was not much better, about the same consistency as Wrigley's gum! They were just awful, the first pierogi I ever threw in the trash and rightly so..... Awful !

Luise C.

Yelp
We purchased these incredible morsels from a NC retailer. Found them by surprise and after a total of 5 hours drive, came home tore into the boxes and already have a pierogy emergency. Hm only 2 boxes left. Need to find a way to get more. Empty the freezer and make dedicated pierogy space. Plotting the next pierogy run....
google avatar

Yelp
I heard about this place from my water aerobics ladies at the gym and just HAD to check it out since I am a true Polack at heart!! And I LOVEEEE me some pierogi! There was really no quick way to get here from VP but it was totally worth the drive out! It is a warehouse-y storefront that sells refrigerated and frozen pierogi, dumplings and blintzes. And the prices are AMAZING! The more you buy, the cheaper they are! So, of course, I had to get the best deal and get 10 packages which made each package only $2.50/dozen! Yes! That cheap!! I was just as stunned as you are! HA! I went with the kraut and mushroom, kraut, potato and cheddar and sweet cheese. So far I have tried the kraut and mushroom and potato and cheddar and both were fabulous! The best Polish style pierogi we've ever had! They tasted so fresh despite being previously frozen and the dough was perfectly chewy and crisped up nicely when fried in a bit of butter and oil. I cannot wait to try the other flavors because I know they are going to be just as good! If you are on the lookout for great Polish style pierogi, head over to Alexandra and grab a dozen or 10 (and save more money). It is so worth it! See you soon Alex!
google avatar

Ksenia P.

Yelp
As close to homemade as it gets. I drive 30 min there buy a lot and freeze. My favourite is sour kraut and mushroom I put it in the microwave for 1 minute and then fry on the pan flipping half way until ready. Also cherry and blueberry are very good drop in the boiling water and remove once they float on top of the water serve with sour cream mixed with powder sugar and its just heaven.
google avatar

Pam D.

Yelp
All pierogi all the time. This is a great place to pick up all the pierogi in all the flavors you want or need. I cooked some up tonight, added a little butter and sauteed onions and it was wonderful! It is basically a factory outlet store, so why not shop the source? Good pierogi, reasonable prices!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Simply amazing pierogi. Meat is just WOW. Kraut and Mushroom is my second favorite. I hate the cheese ones usually because the cheese is always dry in the middle. Not here. It was the best cheese pierogi I've ever had. My husband wants to try the fruit ones. I most definitely will buy him some. He can have those, I'm not a fan of the sweet ones :D
google avatar

Kasia R.

Yelp
This place is the best.. the more packages you buy the less you pay per package. Always fresh and always good.. Yummm
google avatar

Voytek J.

Yelp
Best pierogi anywhere. The only place where i had a better pierogi, was my grandma's house- many years ago. Those here are the closest to home made, and the best ones i had in many years. they are priced good too!
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Wow. I came here with two other friends, one being Polish and said that this is as close to her moms as it gets. No kidding! I bought one of each, and today had the pork & spinach...OMG. It's like a Polish potsticker! I had orders for friends of mine, so the more you buy, the price gets discounted. Such an easy dinner to make for a family. Love it!
google avatar

Joann Z.

Yelp
Any type of pierogi your heart desires!! The best pierogi and dumplings around.. I usually buy in bulk since I live farther away.. You want great pierogi?? Go there.. Don't expect " American " style customer service. These girls are from Poland.. In Poland, they don't go around kissing the clients ass..so if you are offended ..get over it!!! It's actually amusing!

Katherine S.

Yelp
I love their pierogi more than any other brand. But they recently changed the recipe for their ruskie pierogi, and they are now terrible.
google avatar

Johnny Lee H.

Yelp
I love when people call them "pierogis". First of all, it's pierogi, even in the plural form. Please don't tell me to "pass the pierogeezz". And don't get me started on "puunchki". Argh!! Anyways, this place is the best for pierogi. Yes, you do have to take them home and cook them yourself, but that takes all of 3 minutes or so. Totally worth the few minutes of effort. They are absolutely delicious and there is a large variety to choose from. You can also get kopitki, blintzes, pyzy. Yum... Go visit now!

Mary D.

Yelp
I purchased two packages of Alexandra's frozen Potato-Cheese Pierogi yesterday, at the Polish Home (Seattle) Fall Bazaar. Being from Chicago, I was excited to see that these were "flown in from Chicago." The pierogi were delicious, much better than the generic Mrs. T's sold in local supermarkets. I was hoping that maybe Alexandra's ships its products to consumers, but their website says they don't ship to individuals, just to businesses. Oh, why? I think there'd be a huge demand for these pierogi, among Chicagoans who've relocated to other cities.
google avatar

Angie G.

Yelp
This is an ideal store for purchasing pierogi's. Even though most clerks are Polish, they did speak English, which was a help to me. We loaded up on pierogi's as the reviews stated they were sooooo good. Nice, clean store.
google avatar

Emilia S.

Yelp
I haven't had a single good experience at Alexandra - not even close to that. The staff is extremely rude and I haven't received anything but attitude from them despite a number of visits. One instance occurred when I purchased one package of pierogi - which turned out to be the wrong kind. Not even 2 min. after purchase I walked into the store, I was told that they can't take them back because for all they know I injected some sort of a chemical into the package (whaaaat?). At which point I explained that it was a simple mistake and that clearly I purchased it less than 2 minutes ago, when that happened I was told to "learn to speak Polish" and asked to leave the store. I haven't returned to the business since and definitely have not nor will ever purchase their products.
google avatar

Martha Z.

Yelp
Forget Kasia's, if you want the real pierogi experience, you have to try Alexandra's. I don't know why that is, even the package looks just like Kasia's pierogi. But the way that these cook and taste is a world of difference. My favorites are potato & cheese and kraut & mushroom. Grab a bunch of your friends, buy a whole bunch of packs and have yourself a big ol pierogi party. To make them extra delicious fry them up in bacon or onions as a finishing touch. I stopped in at the meat counter at the A&G grocery store around the corner and picked up some potato pancakes for a complete Polish carbtastic meal. Don't forget the sour cream!
google avatar

Jerry G.

Yelp
Always love this place purchase lot of food from them. Today we ate cheese blintzes and me and my wife both got so sick and we can sleep from excruciating pain in our bellies. I'm suspecting the cheese but I will get to the bottom because when two people get sick something isn't right.. Never had an issue of them before

Agnieszka K.

Yelp
This is by far the best place to buy pierogi (this is plural spelling in Polish) in the Chicago vicinity. They make them with all the familiar stuffings known to Polish people. My favorite has always been the potatoes and cheese (called Russian pierogi) and I know how to make them, but with Alexandra Foods there is no reason to spend all this time and energy when you can get them made for you. And they are delicious. Try all the stuffings and find the one you like best. They also sell blintz, but I have not tried those yet. Be careful when parking around this place. It's like someone is sitting and waiting for you to park in the wrong place behind the store. You will be towed very quickly.

Yelp
While fixing blinds across the street, I noticed a forklift unloading 55 gal. drums for the pierogi factory outlet. Why would pierogis come in a 55 gal. drum?? After reading other reviews, it's clear that this place is a pierogi factory. This afternoon was my first visit. It's another fine example of how you can survive in this fine Chicago without being able to speak English (my French ancestors may not think that's a good thing). Its one big wall of pierogis & fortunately they come with sub-titles. They also sell Uszka (?? mushrooms or pork & beef, or chicken or beef) & Pyzy (meat & cheese) In Poland is z a vowel?? Meanwhile... back to the pierogis. A dozen per pack for $2.70, but if you buy 5-9 packs they're $2.40. I dare you to walk in & only buy 1 pack. We had some cherry pierogis w/ sweetened sour cream for desert, & will be back for more as soon as there's room in the freezer.

Yelp
I love these too ... not a drop of Polish blood in me ... does that matter? I buy mine at a Deli in Hoffman Estates ... BUT .. on the ingredient list ... I just saw ... HYDROGENATED OIL!!! Yet the trans fat says 0. So that's the end of them for me til I sort out what's what.

Yelp
I am Polish and make pierogi on a fairly regular basis. However, making them is time consuming and exhausting. So, I head to Alexandra Pierogi! This place is completely plain to look at but what you get is INCREDIBLE!!! The pierogi are simply delicious and not at all expensive. I would highly recommend this for anyone who loves pierogi and don't want to spend the hours making them!

Yelp
Found this place on my way to the Jess Restaurant on Belmont. Never had Kasias, but these peirogis from this place are great. Nice selection too.
