I rarely write google reviews because I yelp but however I have to give this bakery 5 stars. Let me tell you how I stumbled upon a little bakery that gives you an exciting feeling when you eat it, to me I felt like a kid finding a treasure! I’ve been in San Diego a little under a month and honestly I thought this city was a typical city where people were rude and always in a rush. I come from an island where we treat each other with “Aloha.” Originally from a big major city, the last decade I’ve lived on an island. San Diego is an amazing city with surprisingly amazing people! This was my first farmers market. I had just finished a 3 mile hike and was a little hungry so I figure why not walk more, I can burn calories and eat. I thought it would be the typical hustle and bustle with major crowds especially in Little Italy. If you are not in a rush - I recommend to come here. SUPPORT LOCAL (I’m all about it!) So Alfajores Bakery has a tent at the end on Date Street near Cedar Street (they may move not sure if they are in the same spot 🤞🏽). I was walking through and well I LOVE food all kinds of it. The presentation caught my eye. It was neat, clean, and honestly it looked like heaven in my mouth 😊 I walked up to a lady (turned out she was the owner) and asked her what kind of sweets these were. She told me it was Argentinian and she already had me at Argentina just because in Hawaii we don’t get that type of ethnic food (that’s legit) and it already sounded exotic to me. She took her time and explained each flavor. I even asked her what the most popular one was and which was her favorite. She said the popular one was Alfajores de Maicena (I think I may have gotten the name wrong) but her favorite was the traditional chocolate. I went with the popular vote, said thank you and walked the whole Farmers Market twice. As I walked away I decided to eat it. As I bit into it, the cookie had a crisp exterior but crumbled and melted in my mouth. It was the PERFECT type of sweet, not too sweet but just right and light. I was so content that I had to walk back and tell her how delicious it was. I found out the lady I spoke with was the owner and she was working with her daughter. I not only loved my customer experience, the cookie, but also loved the fact that you can tell they put tender, love, and care when making these. Long story short I’m coming back. You have got to try this bakery- you cant go wrong.
