15 Scranton Restaurants and Bars Referenced on ‘The Office’ | Eater Philly

"In the universe of “The Office” there are two rival Alfredo’s pizza joints: the “good one” (inspired by this real-life restaurant) and the subpar “Pizza By Alfredos” (where a then-unknown Kevin McHale plays a delivery person Michael essentially kidnaps in “Launch Party”)." - Missy Frederick

Very bad experience with an unbelievable price! 👎🏻 I’m afraid I must have gone to “the other” Alfredo’s Pizza, because this was not good pizza at all. 😅 The pizza was bland — absolutely no flavor. You can’t just throw everything into the center and hope for the best. There needs to be some thought behind it. For example, when someone asks for peppers on their pizza, they’d probably like to taste the other ingredients too. I have no idea what kind of artificial cheese they’re using, but I sincerely hope I never taste anything like that again. The pepperoni was cheap and flavorless, even when tried on its own. Honestly, every gas station I’ve been to serves better pizza than this. 🍕 And when I was done, the waiter asked, “Do you want a box for the rest of the pizza?” I said yes — and then had to put it in the box myself. No tip after an experience like that. 🫣

Google
Delicious pizza. Actually the best pizza I’ve had. It took super long to get to us, like 45 minutes of waiting for 3 pizzas, but in the end it was worth the wait. Unfortunately I didn’t see Micheal Scott and the crew, but still would go again for “The Good Pizza.”

Well.. it is really the “good pizza”! Plus the our the office experience made very well by our waiter FERRY! Pleasant and really accommodating! He knows the menu well.. as a bonus, we were able to have free drink that time since they were doing a shoot for their new drinks. Plenty of parking, accepts credit/debit card, high chair seen and restroom is clean.

Love love love!! The food is delicious. I come here every time I visit Scranton. Definitely in my top 5 places to have pizza. It's so yummy!!!

Google
This was our first time up here. We heard about this establishment from “The Office” as many other reviewers have too. We ordered their speciality pan pizza, they use cheddar cheese it is a local PA delicacy just wasn’t our thing. We ordered the round pizza and that was better, pretty greasy but better. The best thing I had was the tiramisu, that I can say was some of the best I’ve had. Only issue I had staff wise was I was never asked for a drink refill, and the stand where they check in orders was right behind me like if I leaned back too far I’d be bumped into. I did see the owners while I was there and they seem pretty friendly. There is office merch of course a bit over priced I think $43 for a sweatshirt but each to their own.

As a true Office fan, I had to eat here - tons of Office-themed goodies everywhere! We tried Alfredo's thick pan pizza with peppers, and the crust was pure cheesy perfection. But those peppers? They went all in. I love spice, but this had me questioning my life choices (Scott's Tots level pain). Thankfully, the butternut squash ravioli saved the day - sweet, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Would totally come back, maybe with a fire extinguisher for my mouth!

Google
Of course like any Office fan who happens to be passing by/stopping in Scranton this is a must hit on the list. I’ve been twice and both times it more than did the trick. Fair prices, great service and ofcourse “the good pizza”. Sitting at the bar you can find some good banter with the bartender or locals. They also have TVs to catch the game (icey Yuenglings available on tap). The pasta is great, Asian chicken salad also has some quality flavor but the Old Forge pizza is really good. Minor PSA as they use a blend of American cheddar & mozzarella cheese on their Rectangle pie! Tastes a bit different but still hits. Kind of weird lighting / atmosphere vibes if you’re in the far back of the place on that elevated section .. rest is cool.

Google
Had to try it, because of the Office! Had a half sheet of the deep dish and it was great! The crust was perfectly crispy and the cheese was a blend of white American and mozzarella, which actually made the cheese creamy! Very unique, I've never had a pizza with cheese like that before! The service was amazing. Our server made the recommendations to us. She told us she was raised here and made a recommendation based on her local experience! After eating, we returned to our hotel and asked them for the best pizza in the area and they made the recommendation of Alfredos!

Yelp
Ordered large round pizza with mushrooms for takeout, cost $22.25, The pizza was ok, however, there were only 20 mushrooms, not evenly spaced, for an additional $6.00! Additionaly the crust had a one inch ring with no cheese! Probably will not go again

Yelp
Becoming one of my favorite spots to stop in after work and grab a drink and bite at the bar. Half price bottle of wine on Wednesday, delicious meatball parm sub with motz, and tiramisu for dessert. Bartender Kelly was helpful and friendly!

Yelp
Tonight we had the privilege of dining at Alfredo's. The service was amazing. We were able to dine outside and enjoy the nice spring weather. The food was incredible (as expected). We started with salads. The salads were plated with meticulous detail and tasted incredible. My fiancé ordered chicken parmigiana and I ordered maple glazed salmon. Both orders looked great and tasted delicious. We are currently boxing up our left-overs and even got cannolis to go.

Yelp
I am not afraid to say that I came here because of The Office! The food is not the best in the world, but the fun of the connection made it definitely worth it. They certainly are capitalizing on The Office connection. If you love the Office, definitely go! If not, and you just need a quick bite, why not stop by? The service is great. Sit outside and enjoy the patio

Yelp
Drove to Scranton for a day tour of all famous places featured in The Office and our first stop was Alfredo's Pizza Cafe. True to what they say in the show, this is great pizza. We got the Bruschetta pizza and it was bursting with flavours. Mozzarella sticks were good too and Diet Coke was bottomless (yay) The service here was outstanding, the person who brought our food was funny, cheerful and made great conversation. I'll remember this lunch for many reasons but mainly because of that man. The restaurant also has their own version of mugs, tees and caps featuring the show incase you wanna purchase something to keep.

Yelp
If you're an Office fan or just want a really delicious cheese calzone, head on over to Alfredo's. The resturant is in a shopping center with ample parking. It's clean and spacious and typically crowded. I've been here a number of times so when I tell you to allot a lot of time to dine here, I mean it. The service is friendly but incredibly slow. I mean very slow. Not that you are rushed when eating , but from sitting to getting your food you are going to have a wait time. I will also say that at times the portions aren't always consistent. The food is delicious, but the size varies. The cheese calzone, which is amazing with cheese, sauce and perfect flavor, often seems different sizes to me. But, it doesn't stop me from coming here when I'm the area- because it's absolutely delicious!

Yelp
Food was delicious and staff was very friendly and responsive. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. The pasta and chicken parm was very good and the wings were great. Our only critique is the crust of the pizza could be thinner and crispier but it was still delicious! A must try for any "The Office" fans out there or anyone looking for some "fine food". :)

Yelp
I ordered the southwest wrap for lunch. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and was greeted. The food was ready, and I paid and left. When I dug in, the wrap was good. It was also very filling! Had a good experience!

Yelp
I don't understand the appeal of this place Pros: the pizza is very cost efficient (8 dollars for half a pie) and the service was attentive and informative. Absolutely A plus for these things, which helps my rating. But the pizza is just gross. It's like that skating party pizza from the 90s without any of the nostalgia. The American cheese sticks to your teeth. It's just weird. If this kind of pizza (which I've heard is a regional thing) appeals to you then go. Otherwise major pass

Yelp
I ordered an Italian hoagie for take away. I have had food from here before but never a hoagie. I have never had anything I didn't like until this, I was so disappointed in the hoagie. There was virtually no meat on it, to be honest not much of anything. It has to be the worse hoagie I have ever had content wise. Pizza is great but do not recommend Italian hoagie
google avatar

Yelp
The chicken-parm sandwich was delightful. The staff was accommodating toward the tourists that were making their stop on their "The Office" tour. They didn't treat anyone differently and the drinks were upper middle-class strength. TIP: Located immediately on the right once you enter the front. If you see bowling, you have gone too far.

Yelp
Ordered two slices of pepperoni and sausage and mozzarella sticks. Food was good. Tasted like a good episode of 30 Rock or Community.

Yelp
Alfredo's IS the GOOD PIZZA!! We were just blown away! Our server recommended their famous thick crust and it was incredible. The cheese was gooey and just melts in your mouth. We ordered a half pan for 2 and it was plenty- we even had to take some home. The pizza was a short wait. The restaurant is very cute traditional decor.

Yelp
Not bad regional pizza. Obviously this is a must stop for any fans of The Office... not to be confused with Pizza By Alfredos lol. They feature some fun T-shirt's and novelty items for your collection. As far as the food; it's decent. Was a bit of a let down but not bad by any means. Not really my style of pizza but it's not as "horrible" as some of the reviews that I've read. It's worth getting a slice just to say that you did! Service was great and the value is solid.

Yelp
I recently visited Scranton which is my hometown. I was so excited to have "Scranton pizza" and chicken strips the way I remember them. Next time, I will order my takeout pizza shortly after arrival so it will be ready when I leave. Great service and very pleasant atmosphere. If you're in Scranton, don't miss it!

Yelp
After taking one bite I returned a plate of spaghetti with red sauce because it was way too sweet. I returned it again for the same reason. It wasn't changed in the least. They sent me the same plate. After I told I can't eat it, the hostess accused me of wanting to eat for free. I never mentioned money or a refund and I didn't eat more than a taste. I hate that place.

Yelp
5 stars for the pizza alone, I've never gotten anything else on the menu. I've been getting pizza from here for years on and off since high school and I've never been disappointed. You can't beat a square tray with onions! For this visit I'm writing about, we ordered carryout - a tray, an order of Onion Rings, and French Onion Soup (I don't know why it was an "onion night" it just was) Everything was delicious. I'll always order carry-out from here.
google avatar

Yelp
So we went to Alfredo's mainly because of The Office. But they had a great lovely outdoor seating and accommodated our dog. I got a chicken dish which was lovely. My boyfriend got a half rack of pizza. This isn't New York pizza but true PA style. Although it's not what we typically enjoy, it was very tasty. Great atmosphere. Very cosy. Service was 5/5.
google avatar

Donna G.

Yelp
We came on our self guided Office tour. It was very windy out but we still enjoyed sitting out side. The service was great! There were 6 of us and we split a 12 slice as we were getting dinner later. It was piping hot, great cheese and sauce. Our favorite part was the crust! So crunchy like a toasted roll. So great!
google avatar

Zack G.

Yelp
Place that solely stays in business due to the fact that it was mentioned in the office Solid menu of options, but the food takes FOREVER and is pretty low quality I came here with a friend in order to try their signature pizza, and we were very disappointed with it They sell some office themed memorabilia, so at least there's that
google avatar

Gina F.

Yelp
Met up with some friends halfway between Philly and Syracuse to experience the pizza made famous by the show "The Office". We enjoyed the pie (although some in our party loved it because it reminded them of their childhood spent in skating rinks and bowling alleys). Service was good.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
This is the good pizza place Hubby and I stopped here while checking out places in Scranton that were featured in "The Office". Kevin got it right, this is the good Alfredos. We got a white pizza to share, which was phenomenal. Very fair prices, attentive waitstaff, and nice atmosphere.

James M.

Yelp
My family was in Scranton Pa. Recently for my granddaughter's wedding. One night they took us out to Alfredo's Cafe. The food was great and their round pizza was amazing. When we returned to Los Angeles and ate at our favorite pizzeria we were so disappointed and it even tasted sour. Thanks Alfredo's for spoiling us. Now I've lost my taste for California pizza.
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
We enjoyed our visit here! The pizza was delicious (and large!) and the restaurant looked nice. Our waitress (Danielle) was lovely and the price of the pizza was not super expensive. It was also super quick!

Shayla G.

Yelp
My siblings and I are big fans of The Office. We were already in the area because of our Trip to Hershey's Park. We decided to try Alfredo's Pizza Cafe because of the place mentioned on the show. The pizza could have used extra time in the oven, but the apps were delicious. My main concern is the service and treatment we received. There were quite a few flies in the restaurant, and when we complained about them, the waitress gave us an indifferent attitude. She stated, "Well, it is summer." She made no attempts to fix the issue. We could have been moved to a different table more quickly. To all my Office fans, it is not worth the hype.
google avatar

Annie E.

Yelp
Not very good at all. We came here because of course, The Office and we were disappointed and didn't even finish our food. Don't get the pizza lol

Steven S.

Yelp
I spent one night passing thru Scranton and I had recently watch the Office episode featuring their pizza. I did dinner there with aforementioned pizza. If you like a heavy cheese topping this is the place for you. Large portions so I had take take home. It was actually better after a nite in the Fridge and reheating. Waiter was young but attentive. The only downside was that they overdid their Office episode hype. The waitress told me they add $4 dollars for the actual larger take home box as featured in the show but she waived the charge. Office related merch & paraphernalia all around so a must if ur in Scranton. I would recommend even without the above.
google avatar

Yelp
I am a big fan of The Office, so I decided to make the trip from Buffalo to try some of their pizza and it did not disappoint. With fast and friendly service I received my hot, cheesey, delicious slice of cheese pizza and it was so good. The restaurant has lots to offer with free parking in their lot .You have much to choose from including salads, burgers, subs, wraps and pastas that include Ravioli, fettuccine alfredo, linguine, rigatoni, spaghetti, penne and gnocchi.Plus lots of specialty pizzas too.
google avatar

Ramona P.

Yelp
Sigh. Ok we went here because of "The Office". I know I know. Whatever! We sat at the bar and had a nice bartender who made sure we always had our drinks refilled promptly. I wish I could remember his name, he was very good. We ordered the Double Crust White Pizza and it was delicious! Took a LONG time to cook but I guess that's what drinks are for! ;) I didn't know they offer chicken and broccoli as an option in it. We were saying how good some spinach and sausage would be in it too. Yum! It was honestly the best dinner on our entire trip! The place looks pretty run down from the crusty parking lot..but it's oddly homey inside once you walk in. Glad we stopped here. Sad I don't live close to go again! :(
google avatar

Yelp
With speedy service and a smile I received my hot slice of their cheese pizza. It was very cheesey with the right amount of sauce and was so tasty. They offer lots to choose from including specialty pizzas, salads, wraps, burgers, subs, calzones and pastas like ravioli, linguine, gnocchi, spaghetti and fettuccine alfredo. There is plenty of free parking in the lot so come in and enjoy some delicious food.

Yelp
On a road trip with a 5 year old and 1 year old. We called 40 mins ahead to order take out (1 large pizza and French fries) so we would not have to wait long. When we got there we asked if we could sit down in the restaurant and we were all seated. The waitress brought us water and plates. We were eating for about 10 minutes when a manager came over and said we can not order takeout and sit in the restaurant. This would have been fine if they had told us before we brought our pizza over and were all eating and sitting already (with 2 little kids!). There were at least 4-5 open tables at the time (was about 2pm on a Saturday.) The manager politely offered to-go cups and boxes and said it was their policy that we can not order take out and dine in. He noted that we wouldn't even be allowed to sit outside if it was nice out. So we left a tip for the waitress and exited. We would have been there maybe 5 more minutes if he had not come over. I understand this is their policy but there was some miscommunication between the restaurant side and the takeout side. It was not our fault that we were sat down, waited on, and ate for 10 minutes before getting kicked out. The pizza was consistent with the "old forge" style in this area. Cheese was thicker than other places. Crust was on point. Because of our experience I would recommend going to Maroni's down the street if you want old forge style pizza. Their pizza is better and never had any issues with the service there. Advice to the manager: pick your battles. We were not disturbing anyone and were almost finished eating. There were no people waiting to be sat. If this was your policy we never should have been sat down and waited on in the first place. At that point you just gotta take the L and wait for us to leave. I hate to 1-star a small business but this experience was so disgusting it made me actually take the time out of my day to write all this out. We will never go here again. Will be back at Maroni's next time for sure. Class establishment !

Yelp
I'm a little partial to this place, having worked here in the early 90's as a delivery driver, but you cannot deny a restaurant that's been in business this long is doing something right. Namely square and round red pizza, double crust white pizza and just about everything else on the menu. Cheesesteaks and the cheesesteak Stromboli are two other winners. The prices here are a little high but people are happy to pay for the quality and consistency. Any time I'm in town, I stop for a double crust white and get it partially baked. I can finish it at home and enjoy it fresh, the way it's meant to be eaten. People get them shipped too because it's so good. Go to Alfredos and you'll get to enjoy a restaurant that was mentioned on "The Office." And the food is awesome too!
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
Great food, excellent martini menu, and fabulous amdiance. We will return in the future.
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
It's really a 3.5, but the fact that it was in the office was really cool. Great pizza and long hots! Waitress was very friendly and she did a great job. Nice cozy Italian spot.
google avatar

Tish K.

Yelp
Went here as we were driving through Stranton and I was with a fan of "The Office"! Great to see all the mentions of the show on the servers' T shirts and on the menu. The food was mediocre, and you definitely have to manage your expectations when eating here. We had a slice of the "famous pizza" and a calabrese salad that was not it is called :) Worth an experience if you are a fan of the show, otherwise you aren't missing out on much!
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
Stopped here because... The Office. We thought it would be fun to visit a few places mentioned in the show. Salad was good. Pizza -just okay ~ the American cheese is a strange kind of extra creaminess that feels off for pizza. Dessert- delicious! Almost didn't have the opportunity for dessert because server was really rushing us. This was weird because restaurant was over half empty. Good for a one off experience for our family. **Side note ~ the six piece pizza would have been more than enough for our family of 4. Our server described the pieces as very tiny(they're not tiny), so we bought the 12 pieces and he boxed half the pizza up before we could ask about dessert.

Christine B.

Yelp
They rushed us out of here and were very rude about it. We requested a second drink and we were told no. Unbelievable. Then we tried to get a pizza to take home and they refused.
google avatar

Mary Ann F.

Yelp
Nine of us met for some food and this place was horrible! Even though we had reservations, service was beyond horrible. The server got orders wrong, forgot basics like water, and most importantly when the wrong order was corrected we were charged twice! Their rules for groups is 20% is automatically added to your bill. He could not do separate checks either. Half of us were served while the other half was still waiting. You think with reservations for 9 people that were all there 5 minutes before and adding a 20% gratuity fee on top, your service would be spot on. Nope save yourself time and go somewhere else.

Jeremy A.

Yelp
Unlike Pizza by Alfredo, Alfredo's pizza was great! We ordered the deep-dish (large) which was enough for the four of us. The service was a tad slow. Very friendly, but we waited a good 10 minutes to finish paying our tab. The cost was extremely reasonable. It was clean and well maintained. Will definitely come back! Alfredo 's Thick Pan Pizza

Ann P.

Yelp
We had a reservation for a party of 16 for Mother's Day. It was extremely busy and we were very patient, without complaint, and waited an hour and a half for our food...no problem. The newest mom in the bunch, got the special, gnocchi with pesto sauce. She thought something tasted weird but tried to eat it anyway. Half way thru eating she realized that the gnocchi were not cooked. We asked the waitress if they would remove the gnocchi from our bill (which ended up being over $400) The manager said they would only refund half, because she ate half and they would make another dinner for her. She didn't want another sub-par dinner. Three of us went to different managers asking for a refund and they wouldn't budge....for $10?! Wow. One more observation.....the female manager was dressed like she was working in a Vegas night club....the young children in the restaurant saw way too much that day!
google avatar

Cody A.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, not mind blowing but good. Service was fast and the waiter was super friendly. This is the pizza place referenced in the office. Much like most of the stops in Scranton there's only a few mentions of the office in the restaurant.
google avatar

Meghan W.

Yelp
Where do you go when you're a fan of "The Office" and are passing through Scranton, PA? You go to Alfredo's Pizza Cafe! Mentioned on the show as having the superior pizza in town, I couldn't pass up the opportunity! The food is tasty and the staff is friendly and helpful. It was a fun experience that I recommend to any fan of "The Office".

Alice M.

Yelp
Great food and service. Get there early! Fills fast. Pizza is spectacular. Old fashioned recipe full of flavor.
google avatar

Kendoll C.

Yelp
There is a reason 'The Office' as a whole skit dedicated to 'The Good Alfredo's'- The special square red pizza is top quality. Pricier than other pizza joints in the area-it's worth it to pay for consistently fresh, delicious pizza. Their cheese sets them apart from others in the area; it has a creamy, thickness to it- I believe it is fresh thick slices spaced out and melted on top versus sprinkled shredded cheese- when cooked it's browned to perfection with a thick and crispy crust, and a slightly tangy red sauce. I will note though, this quality & yummyness isn't a secret to the area- so be prepared to wait when ordering. We were told an hour and a half for two pies- but in reality we waited two hours for two pies- be nice to the wait staff, they are putting out a lot of product & each pie is as top quality as the next- give them time to do what they do best!

Ralph M.

Yelp
The best pizza in Scranton. Dinners are versatile and very good. The pizza is just as good the next day cold out of the fridge or warmed in the oven.

Steven S.

Yelp
No host to handle a Saturday evening crowd - sad. Food is usually good but couldn't get seated while guests waited in crowds with no host to communicate.

April S.

Yelp
If you like pizza, do not go here. It's literally the worst pizza I've ever eaten. I can not stop thinking about how gross it was.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Was in town for a quick trip and obviously had to stop by being a big fan of The Office. Didn't have much time so we ordered regular slices of pizza, but it was really good! The service was also good, the staff was friendly and there was plenty of room. Also loved how you could get little merchandise. Will definitely visit again if I come back to Scranton in the future!
