22 Best Hotels in Buenos Aires

"This hotel impresses before you set foot inside. There's the gorgeous Belle Epoque architecture, for one. Once within the six-story mansion, the decor is unfussy and sophisticated. In the lobby is a dramatic glass-encased waterfall that cascades down several floors. Furnishings in supple leathers, exquisite woods, and delicate silks are by Cappellini and B&B Italia. Suites (there are only suites) at Algodon are as spacious as some New York City apartments. Silks, suede, ebony, leather, parquet floors, Nespresso machines, Netflix on the flatscreen TVs. You'll want for nothing at this hotel. The bathrooms are decked out in French limestone and Calacatta marble, and roomy." - Celeste Moure

Algodon Mansion, Buenos Aires, Argentina - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"How did it strike you on arrival? This hotel impresses before you set foot inside. There's the gorgeous Belle Epoque architecture, for one—the hotel is housed in a 1912 French villa. Once within the six-story mansion, the decor is unfussy and sophisticated. In the lobby is a dramatic glass-encased waterfall that cascades down several floors. Furnishings in supple leathers, exquisite woods, and delicate silks are by Cappellini and B&B Italia. Floors are parquet, and lavish chandeliers hang from the high ceilings. Nice. What’s the crowd like? The hotel reflects the clientele that it attracts: sophisticated and moneyed, but never showy. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Suites (there are only suites) at Algodon are as spacious as some New York City apartments. Silks, suede, ebony, leather, parquet floors, Nespresso machines, Netflix on the flatscreen TVs. You'll want for nothing at this hotel. The bathrooms? OMG the bathrooms are the stuff of dreams. Decked out in French limestone and Calacatta marble, bathrooms are roomy and showers can spray, steam, or jet water at you. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The drapes, temperature, lights, TV and every other piece of technology in the room is controlled from a bedside touch-screen panel. Unfortunately, it almost requires a PhD to figure out. Mini bars come stocked with alfajores, local candies, chips, juices, sodas and the in-house wine—and it’s all complimentary. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. Award-winning wines and farm products come from a sister property in Mendoza. There’s no spa but guests can work out a block away at a fitness studio that offers complimentary yoga and other group classes, as well as use of all exercise equipment. The pool on the rooftop open-air lounge is glorious and overlooks the pretty neighborhood streets. Help yourself to a couple of glasses and a bottle of vino from the fridge to enjoy at any time of day. Bottom line: worth it, and why? A sophisticated and intimate atmosphere that's worth the price tag." - Celeste Moure

Nine Boutique Hotels to Know in Buenos Aires

"Algodon Mansion, though relatively new, already feels like a Recoleta fixture, so effortlessly does it match its luxe surroundings." - MICHELIN Guide

"When it opened in 2010 following an extensive three-year renovation, the Algodon, set in a 1912 French neoclassical townhouse surrounded by the posh Belle Epoque mansions of Buenos Aires ’ Recoleta district, quickly became the city’s most exclusive boutique hotel. There’s little glitz or glamour, however; rather, the luxe setting is more refined. In place of the typical modern glass and steel additions, the Algodon showcases worn leather armchairs, silk curtains, and suede wall fabrics, not to mention bathrooms with Italian Calacatta marble and French limestone. The property isn’t stuck in the 20th century, though. There are Nespresso coffee machines, geeked-out sound systems, and winetasting sets. On the rooftop, teak decks and loungers sit alongside a small pool and petite counter with a cognac and bar selection that matches any in the nearby embassies. The ground-floor wine bar and charcuterie, reimagined in 2013,emphasizes seasonalMedocinean-style small platespaired with premiumwines from the hotel's own vineyard estate project outside Mendoza ."

The 2018 World's Best City Hotels in Central & South America

"Algodon Mansion in Buenos Aires ties for No. 8 this year. The Relais & Châteaux hotel is legendary for its wine bar, stocked with wines from Algodon’s own vineyards. Several wrote in to say the staff was super-accommodating. 'The manager even took us out to dinner one night with his family!' exclaimed one reader." - Travel + Leisure Editors

The hotel is in a very good location in Recoleta, a converted palacio, where we had 2 adjacent rooms for 3 nights before returning to Europe. Rooms are large and of modern design, as are the bathrooms. At this level however, one would expect a safe that can fit a laptop, and accessible power plugs (or USB connections) by the bedsides, but there is only one line of 1 power plug each of different international types at the desk, and no USB.|The lighting system is a bit difficult, and as there seem to be two parallel systems we could not fully work out its operation, and also could not find a working nightlight in the bathroom, and there is no make-up mirror as a substitute. Walls are quite thin, as you can actually understand people talking in the bathroom next door. The air conditioning system works well, but the unit in the hall outside the room door was so loud, that we could hear it through the closed doors.|The team was friendly, but we were the only guests at the time, so services were at a minimum, and a strange feeling of solitude prevailed. The room had likely not been used for some time, as we killed a spider in the bathroom mat when opening, and the bathroom sinks drained very slowly. The pool on the rooftop is small and not heated, and under “surveillance” from the windows of the tall neighboring buildings, so we might not have used it even on warmer days.|The hotel does not have a restaurant, but a lounge and snack station in the lobby, where the front desk receptionist will serve free drinks and snacks on demand. We bought some pastries in the very good pasteleria on the other side of the street, and had it with coffee in the lobby, which was very nice.|For breakfast, hotel guests are sent to the Tea Connection next door, a franchise with completely unacceptable levels of service and food quality. When we came in at 08:15 the first morning, there were only 2 other guests. The waiter took our order and then chatted with the barista for 20 minutes and they had their coffees, until they finally decided it was time to prepare a (very poor) cappuccino for us. It was served with cold eggs on toast … The friendly hotel staff offered to get breakfast to the Lobby Lounge after our first morning experience, which worked o.k.|Would we come back next time in BsAs? Probably not, as the price/service ratio appears unfavorable compared to other options in the area, and facilities and service levels here are not even close to expectations for a 5-star rating. It is a nice boutique hotel with limited services in a perfect location, but more than ten years from its initial Tripadvisor badges, and when the hotel was a Relais & Chateaux member, it might benefit from a technical and conceptual make-over.

The staff is great and we enjoyed the breakfast being delivered to our room daily. Great location, plenty of restaurants within walking distance.||We had some bathroom leakage which they addressed pretty quickly. |While they offered complimentary glass of wine daily, their selection is pretty limited. ||Overall pleasant stay but would stay the place is overpriced but this seems to be a common theme in Argentina.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at this luxurious boutique hotel, which combines the charm of a former mansion with the modern amenities expected in 5-star accommodations. The staff was outstanding, providing personal service without being intrusive. They were warm and welcoming, communicating with us before our arrival until our check-out.||Rodrigo, Tomas, Franco, Giuliana, and Pablo offered excellent suggestions for places to eat and activities. If we needed reservations, they were quick to arrange them. They were also kind enough to store our luggage while we traveled to Iguazu for a few days. When we returned to Buenos Aires, our bags were waiting for us in our room. Additionally, they arranged for a late check-out on our departure day since we had a late flight home.||We also enjoyed the newly renovated rooftop pool. It was small but perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring the city. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom featured a large soaking tub. We especially appreciated the complimentary wine from their vineyard in Mendoza, which was always available in the lobby lounge along with delicious pastries and small sandwiches.||We will always remember our first visit to Buenos Aires, thanks to the wonderful team at Algodon who helped make our stay special. We look forward to returning!

Our family of 3 stayed in 2 rooms of this 9-room luxury boutique hotel, and we cannot say enough nice things about it! The staff was friendly & amazing, giving us upgrades and allowing us late check-outs for evening flights. The location was great - we walked to the cemetery and lots of restaurants. Always felt safe & Uber/taxi pickup/drop off was good. Note that the amenities are within the same block (breakfast & gym), but it was not inconvenient to us. Staff communicated with me before & during our stay, so that was very nice. We also got a bottle of wine as a welcome gift, which was very thoughtful. Lovely rooms, with comfortable beds and lots of space. We weren't crazy about the rain showerhead, but the hot water & pressure were good. Don't hesitate to stay here!

Boutique hotel with exceptional staff! Such a welcoming place where all who work here are helping to ensure you are comfortable and enjoying your stay. There are add’l nice touches the hotel provides to their guests - area off the lobby has rotating snacks and beverages throughout the day, no cost mini bar in every room, all en suite rooms, large bathrooms and more. Bonus that the property is in a great location and is walkable to many of the sights, museums, great restaurants and just exploring. Repeating how friendly and solicitous the entire team was to us everyday. I would stay here again!

Yelp
This is our second time, we also stayed here in our previous trip to Argentina, and had such a fantastic experience that it was a no-brainier to do an encore. We found exactly the same quality: a gorgeous room, a classy building, a perfect location, and the most knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, polite, professional, caring and warm staff you could ever meet. Our deepest thanks (in no particular order) to Sofía, Gretel, Leonardo, Nicolás, Federico and all at Algodon Mansion. Their level of service is superb, and they are fantastic human beings, and absolutely professional, which makes the experience and the stay so much better. A touch of class, and the warmth of a fantastic staff. We love this place!

Yelp
Wonderful boutique hotel with warm, friendly and welcoming staff. Rodrigo, Sofia, Tomas, Francisco and Pablo made our stay in Buenos Aires one of the best travel memories of our lifetime. Great location in charming Recoleta neighborhood convenient for sightseeing and filled with charming cafes and elegant shopping. Luscious snacks available all day with a fine selection of Argentinian wines. Comfortable rooms with generous amenities. A top-notch experience all around!

Yelp
Algodon Mansion is as good as it gets. A boutique hotel with only a dozen rooms. Each is impeccably presented, roomy and in the middle of one of the nicest areas in Buenos Aires. I was able to be there during the launch party of Gaucho, the newest clothing line in Argentina which is also owned by the owners of the hotel. The party was amazing, dozens of models, great wine from the Algodon winery, a Gaucho show that was visually and auditorily stunning, those guys were fun to watch. The food was exceptional. The empanadas were some of the best I had in Argentina and every glass of wine and champagne I had was delicious. This is definitely the place to stay if you are looking for a unique experience tucked into the center of downtown BA. If you can get a room here, you'll be very happy you did.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place after missing our original destination. So glad we did. We had a great bottle of wine and some empanadas for $30 USD. We loved the decor and ambiance. The bartender was very nice. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area and in the mood for some good wine.

Yelp
Probably my favorite hotel in the world. When we checked in we had booked a basic Suite. The hotel was not busy so they upgraded us to the Algodon Royale Suite for the same price as the basic Suite. Service was top notch and the design is impeccable. Love that it is a small hotel. It is in the middle of town but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Location is perfect!

Yelp
Definitely a beautiful boutique hotel to keep an eye on. The rooms are large and lovely. When we arrived Sebastian welcomed us with a delicious glass of complimentary wine, nice conversation and advise for our stay. The hotel location is prime. The challenge is most employees are just starting or finishing their final days. Staff is nice but very young and lack the expertise to serve an internatioal traveller expecting 5 service. The hotel is understaffed so the sommelier is working the breakfast shift instead of manning the bar and sharing his expertise where best fitted. I'd give it two months for hotel management to staff and train, then hopefully the will be worthy of 5. Today they are 3.5 stars...ish!

Yelp
Just stayed at the Algodon Mansion in March and had a wonderful stay! The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the staff is friendly but professional and very willing to help with any request. The manager, Max, was great and showed us where the future breakfast room will be (light filled back room). The front room that is now used for breakfast and as a wine bar in the evening will be solely the wine bar. The breakfast chef even made me special gluten free rolls. The ambiance feels like you are staying with friends in their beautiful mansion and is very well located near restaurants and shops. Thanks to Pablo, Belen, Francisco, Leonardo and all the others who helped make our stay so memorable. We look forward to returning next year!
