8 Mendoza Hotels for Wine and Sun Lovers

"Algodon Wine Estates bring together two of life's great enjoyments: fine wine and golf. A family of golfers developed the 9-hole golf course and purchased the original Algodon villa in the mid ‘90s. Their dramatic transformation of the rustic adobe house resulted in a contemporary villa-style hotel complete with spacious suites and a range of stylish amenities." - Mark Fedeli

"Travelers who think heaven should include golf, tennis, horseback riding, mountains, vineyards, and mouthwatering food and wine all in one place should book a stay at Algodon Wine Estates. The property rolls across 2,000 acres of picturesque foothills in San Rafael, Mendoza . The land blossoms with walnut, pear, and plum orchards, miles of olive groves, and a world-class vineyard producing a wide range of varietals. Eight estancia-style suites are housed in the Algodon Villa and Algodon Lodge, featuring wood-burning chimneys and wraparound stone patios overlooking the vineyard and surrounding estate. The sprawling property has a history that dates back to Argentina’s golf legend Jose Jurado, whose descendants (also professional golfers) owned and designed the first nine holes of the estate’s golf course. Today’s 18-hole course winds through lush vineyards, glacial water reservoirs, olive trees, and fruit orchards. The championship tennis facilities feature seven clay courts, one hard court, and two grass courts. With such an attractive range of on-property activities, it might take some willpower for guests to venture beyond the estate grounds, but the natural wonders surrounding San Rafael are worth a visit."

This was our favorite vacation in years! We booked this venue specifically for the golf and tennis facilities. The golf course and tennis courts are pristine, and the staff happily provided equipment and arranged tee time and court time. Each staff member was extremely friendly and willing to help us with whatever we needed. There are free bikes and electric bikes to explore the property, and a stay at the hotel includes a free tour of the property and wine tasting. The wine was delicious and staff was filling our glasses at every opportunity. We can’t wait to return!

I had the pleasure of staying at Algodon for 2 nights. From the moment I arrived I was warmly treated by the staff and escorted to my beautiful room. The entire estate is absolutely stunning with not only the winery but a beautiful golf course, tennis courts, horses, pool and much more. Every staff member went out of their way to make sure I felt at home. Every meal I had was cooked to perfection. The wine is amazing! I will definitely be recommending this place to every friend and family member I have! I can't wait to come back! They also have daily activities such as rafting, horseback riding, wine tasting...etc you can partake in that are wonderful and extremely affordable.

Lovely, private, tranquil, relaxing destination. Superior service by a most attentive and happy staff. Eggs cooked to order for breakfast. Wonderful menus allow the succulent wines to shine. The front desk does their magic to provide excursions into town or for local sight seeing. Enjoyed a massage and facial.

Excellent reception from a highly motivated and serviceable team. It's beautifully located within a 15 minute bus/taxi ride from the airport. Constantly developing and getting better by the day. Algodon wines are great and a delight for everyone's palate, mostly due to Mauro's detailed care for and of the vines and the wine making process. The rooms are beautiful and located in a picturesque setting. The restaurant is excellent and Gaston makes it special with his personal touch and the service of his tieam is first class. The property is very well looked after my Sergio, Coco and team.||Leaving the place, what we liked least :)

This was the perfect place to stay while we toured some of the local San Rafael wineries. The front desk staff even helped us confirm reservations at several of the wineries on our list. The power went out one night but, this gave the staff a chance to really shine. They were quick to bring candles to our rooms and make sure we had everything we needed to weather the storm. Great experience!

Tranquil, friendly place with exceptionally attentive staff. Outstanding restaurant dxpertly pairs food with estate wines. Cooked to order eggs for breakfast. Lovely geounds, and fantastic spa services make this a great place to relax. The staff knows how to marshall all needed resources to explore local sights. Just ask!

Taking into account the luxury approach of Algodon Wine Estate, the realization seems lacking the love for details. The|rooms are nice for a lodge, clean, rustic style, but beds are too narrow. The staff is very friendly, helping if you have questions, but some training would improve their professionalism. The restaurant (500m distant) serves typical Argentinian food. The maintenance status of the offered bicycles is poor and the green of the golf course partially changes into brown. This beautiful location needs really more love for the detail.
