"Fast-casual Algorithm Vegan Grill opened in Queen Village recently, adding a fixed location for Algorithm Food Truck’s flavor-packed vegan fare — seitan cheesesteaks with Calabrian chile Whiz, watermelon “tuna” tacos, and Korean barbecue fries, among others — plus rotating milkshake flavors like carrot cake and raspberry-sumac. Check Algorithm’s Instagram if you’re trying to track down the cerulean-blue truck, which pulls up at places such as Philadelphia Brewing Company." - Ernest Owens, Grace Dickinson

The food here is incredible. The seitan is superb, not chewy but the perfect texture. Beware however that the cheesesteak is spicy! (At least for a white person 😅) The Nashville Hot is obviously marked as hot but the cheesesteak is not, honestly my only complaint and it was still delicious, just wanted to know what I was signing up for 😂. We had to order a second shake to get through the heat. Chocolate shake and vanilla shake were both good. We also ordered the Korean BBQ fries which were again cooked excellently.

Stopped in with some friends after hearing good reviews on their food truck and it lived up to the hype. Really creative and well thought out menu. Tried the Rueben and the Libertine and both were really good. Great combination of flavor and texture. The Korean BBQ fries were the highlight for us; amazing. The owner was friendly and checked on us a few times to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Definitely worth a trip, even if you aren’t a vegan

It's all been said before but after my first stop at Algorithm Vegan Grill, I have to say the hype can't be overstated! Had the 4 taco sampler and Korean BBQ fries, everything was so flavorful. The owner is so kind and welcoming even as we dined near closing. Excited to come back again soon!

If you’re vegan or not - this is the place to eat! Extremely delicious! We tried different sandwiches and the mocha shake and it was all so yummy! I like the chill atmosphere as well!

Google
Stumbled across when looking for a meal before heading into Jersey, and I was not at all disappointed. Matt was kind enough to recommend something with some real kick! The service was fantastic, staff were very kind and helpful. The Nashville hot sandwich was some of the best seitan I’ve ever had! Crispy to perfection with a nice slaw to balance the heat. The Chili Whiz fries were a perfect addition, amazing flavor and crunch.

I LOVE LOVE Algorithm. I've really enjoyed their food truck especially since they're vegan and kind to animals. I was so excited to try the restaurant since they opened and I definitely want to start coming regularly. On top of their delicious menu options, they also have different specials all the time! The service here is also wonderful. They treat their customers so well and you can tell that they love what they do. I wish there were more places like this.

Google
So damn good. Thrilled to have such delicious vegan food (but like, omnivore-pleasing vegan food) around the corner. Also the employees there are the sweetest. We got the Crispy Tofu Tacos, the Libertine Burger with bacon, and the Cheesecake this time, and the Nashville HOT, Gobbler, and Korean BBQ Fries last time. Each item was a hit for us. Also don't quote me, but I believe their plates, utensils, and cups are all compostable too, swoon. Do yourself a favor and check them out - I want them to stick around! Planning on adding Algorithm to our rotation of fave local spots.

Google
Great vegan food! We went to their food truck at Vegfest in Lancaster, and got the vegan cheese steak and vegan pork bahn mi. Both were very good and filled with flavor. A little pricey but it's all vegan, so it's worth the little extra cost. There's a lot of unique options and wish I could have tried all of it!

Yelp
Great menu Tasty food Nice presentation Dine in/take out or delicacy Matt is awesome I really like this Reuben sandwich!

Yelp
Delicious food. All on-point for me. Very accommodating of last minute crowds even though I was not able to call in and give them advance notice. Seating area is casual and generally sufficient but barely enough for the vegan crowd we had and two non-group people with about 4 seats remaining. I surprised people asking them if they were in the vegan meetup group or not. The cafe has been around for 2 years as a food truck and 3 months as a restaurant front. Truly up and coming just like the kind of places and some of the music I like to experience. Highly recommended to try out of curiosity from a vegan (deservingly certified) expert. The passion fruit tart and sunchoke miso fries I had were specials on that day. So they may not be available when you come here but there would be something different instead. The meetup I ran, one of the members was surprised that I only was able to attend one event and then my second event was running an event, lol. This place hands down personally competes with best vegan food with Charlie's was a Sinner and Vedge in my opinion. Best value certainly goes to Algorithm.

Yelp
Wow! Run don't walk to get this amazing vegan hidden gem of a restaurant. On Sunday I had the vegan eggnog milkshake with pomegranate and pineapple - knocked it out of the park. They told me they use Breyer's oatmilk and I wish I ordered 2. I have had others and this rival's Goldie Tahini shakes. Their cheesesteaks are amazing along with always awesome Calabrian Cheese Fries, what could be bad. Everything I have ever had has been tasty, innovative and priced well! Perfect spot for a BYOB or non-alcoholic drink as well. Vegetarian, Meat eater, not sure? All will enjoy this place. Don't forget to take some cheescake to go.

Yelp
What happens when a super awesome food truck becomes a restaurant? You get creative food, fast service, and a vibe like a familiar hangout from your youth. We got a world tour of tacos and Vietnamese ice coffee, and something from the special board too- way too much food but couldn't resist- had to pack it in and roll out of there. Want to come back soon to try more- everything sounded so good!!!

Yelp
It was my first time trying this place and it did not disappoint! I'm not vegan but am pro eating healthy.... The options on the menu made it hard to choose! They offer a few tacos, sandwiches and grain bowl options. I went with the Orange Cauliflower Bowl and the Coconut Lime soup. Both were fresh and delicious! Great flavor with just the right amount of extra veggies in each. My order was for takeout. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Cute little good truck in Clark park/West Philadelphia. We were able to order our food online and then pick up in person. Made it very easy during these COVID times. My husband and I both got the gobbler special which is a Thanksgiving feast hoagie but VEGAN. It's so cool to find a restaurant doing this iconic sandwich but vegan so I can eat it. The hoagie was filled to the max with stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey and cranberry sauce. Surprisingly it was really easy to eat and there are a ton of tables and chairs close to the truck. The sandwich was delicious and I can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here in our way through Philly. The cheesesteak has just enough spice, and the special fried tomato sandwich was the right combo of fresh and comforting. Plus, the owners were there and were super friendly.

Jordan K.

Yelp
Nashville Hot Chick'n Sandwich blew the jocks right off me. Absolutely scintillating.

Yelp
I ordered the tempeh tacos, and firstly it took a very long time to come out. That I understood because of it being a particularly busy day, as Philly AIDS Thrift across the street was having an event. But the tacos were not worth the wait. The apple curtido was so cold that it made the tempeh lose its heat almost immediately. So even though the tacos were freshly grilled, it felt as if they had just come out of the fridge. I was very disappointed because I had seen their food truck and heard very good things, so I was excited to eat at Algorithm's brick and mortar location. But unfortunately, my experience just wasn't worth it

Yelp
Algorithm has been our household's go-to "can't be bothered to cook tonight" spot for fantastic vegan junk food since they opened. Matt, the owner, often works the register and clearly puts a lot of heart and thought into creating a menu full of unique-yet-classic meals that would satisfy even the most skeptical meat-loving omnivore. When not making recommendations or taking orders, he makes the rounds to check in with customers and see if they need anything. I'm there enough that I've ordered and enjoyed almost the entire set menu, so I usually go for whatever special item's on offer, since those come and go. Today I had the Manchurian Chili Carrot Dog ("House-made Carrot "Not Dog" topped with Lentil & Pea Manchurian Chili, Raita and Cucumbers on a Sweet Potato Roll") and the Dirty Chai Milkshake - the perfect lunch combo. I'm also a huge fan of the Nashville Hot, the Cheesesteak (might be my favorite vegan cheesesteak in the city!), the Breakfast Sandwich, and the Korean BBQ Fries. And the sweet treats (usually some sort of decadent and inventive cheesecake are never not delightful). I also appreciate the free cold water and the emphasis on compostable to-go containers. And shoutout to Cody and the rest of the lovely staff there. Despite being near the big intersection of Passyunk, 5th, and Bainbridge (across from Philly Aids Thrift), the front of Algorithm could be a little easy to walk by without noticing, but you'd be a fool to miss it!

Yelp
Big Blue Bull-ish!!! These tacos are horrible, tastes like trash!!! Fries are cold and burnt. DON'T EAT HERE!!!

Melanie M.

Yelp
A friend of mine who's involved in this venture shared a food porn pic to Facebook of their Vegan Gobbler . As a #1 fan of Wawa's version I had to try. I also found out that they pop up shop near my work in UCity's Clark Park, so I really had no excuse. I had to order through Uber Eats due to work so I opted for the Gobbler Bowl. Also, no one likes a soggy roll so I couldn't risk it. First impressions: fresh ingredients and so flavorful! Now, I'm a meat eater, but I enjoy trying new foods. This meal did not disappoint (see pic). It was a satisfying portion. I also got their seasonal bread pudding for dessert (Apple Cinnamon Roll with Cranberry Icing). Once I read the description I was sold. God, it was divine I was in heaven for sure after that. I look forward to trying more! Great job!

Yelp
Amazing new vegan option on the Philly scene! Their menu was full of comfort food favorites and I could not decide what to order. I went with the cheesesteak with Calabrian chili whiz (what!?) with mushrooms and onions and fries with beet ketchup/chipotle mayo for dipping. The seitan is some of the best I've tried texture-wise, and the whiz was super flavorful with some heat. Also, amazing Oreo bread pudding which is somehow not too sweet. Give them a try, you won't regret it! They even offer delivery

Yelp
This is a review for the food truck located at the Philadelphia Flower Show. I ordered the Cheesesteak which was steak spiced seitan with calabrian chili whiz, mushrooms & onions. I also ordered the Korean BBQ fries, but more on that later. Before I continue with the food review, I have to say that the people manning the booth were extremely friendly and helpful. They were a little behind so I gave them my cell number to text when the food was ready. After my text I went back to the booth and picked up my order. The process was fast and easy. When I got back to where my family was to eat, I opened the container and found a much larger cheesesteak than I anticipated and it looked yummy. I like to try vegetarian cheesesteaks whenever I can get them and this was one of the best I've eaten. It was so delicious. The seitan was nicely cooked and the calabrian chili wiz gave it a nice kick. Interesting side note, the show Chopped had calabrian chili as one of their secret ingredients when I watched the show later that night. As for the fries, I had a couple but unfortunately couldn't finish them since I was so stuffed from the cheesesteak. They were very good also, I just wished I could have eaten more of them.

Yelp
Great food, great people, what's not to love? Best vegan Nashville Hot and breakfast sandwich for sure. Best/only vegan Reuben? Delicious! In the running for best vegan cheesesteak too. Drunk and hungry on South Street? Stop on by! Sober and in the neighborhood? Stop on by! (Zero proof beers on offer.) Small shop with rockin' music, eat-in or take-out. Don't sleep on the specials!

Yelp
Holy crap!! We had Algorithm at the Ludwigs Corner Carnival - and literally ordered one of everything on the menu - no joke. It was I. N. C. R. E. D. I. B. L. E. I wish I took photos of the picnic table full of boxes but we all dug in so fast it wouldn't have done the food justice. The watermelon tuna tacos are out of this world - as was the crispy tofu tacos. The burger and Reuben were for everyone - carnivores wouldn't know. My little girls, who are the pickiest vegans - loved the cheesesteak, fries the beet ketchup (what?) and the libertine burger (the 'bacon' looks scarily real) and the breakfast sandwich. The Oreo bread pudding... omgggggggg you'd think it would be super sweet but it's not. It's dangerously addictive. So glad we got one of the only ones they had tonight! The Vietnamese coffee is no joke. Smooth and STRONG. Good gawd! The staff was incredibly kind to boot. They need to be closer to the burbs - or franchise!! I'd invest!

Susan L.

Yelp
Algorithm is the best! I have been enjoying their food since they opened and have been consistently impressed with their creativity and quality. I'm now obsessed with The Nashville Hot Chick'n sandwich which is to die for. It's crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned. But I've never had a bad dish here. Plus, staff always seems friendly and personable. Highly recommend!

Tabish M.

Yelp
All A1 vegan ingredients here. That Calabrian sauce is everything! Wish I could buy it by the jar. It's the sauce that's in the cheesesteak, so it gives it a nice kick compared to a traditional cheesesteak. Their food boxes and utensils are compostable too, so that's another win. Not only is the food impeccable, but so is their customer service! I had a GrubHub mishap and Algorithm addressed it immediately and kindly sent me a gift card for the troubles. Now I can't wait to try everything else on the menu! Highly recommend.

Kristen S.

Yelp
Creative, mouth-watering, delicious! This business is passionate about flavor, service, and their furry friends. Algorithm is everything you're looking for in a street food experience, whether you're strictly vegan - or just love good food.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Some of the best vegan food in Philadelphia. My husband and I agree their breakfast sandwich is the best in the city! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, everything is absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor. The owner is also super sweet. From the food to the service Algorithm is top notch!

colleen z.

Yelp
Came across while walking the dog. Was excited to try and it was WONDERFUL! I loved the "keep it Philly cheesesteak". I don't usually rave about vegan cheese but the Calabrian chili Whiz fries were delicious!

Noelle Z.

Yelp
No reason to not go here. It is all of the hype in the philly vegan community for a reason. Did the tour of 4 tacos and was so impressed by the watermelon taco. Need to go back!

Rachel D.

Yelp
The best vegan cheesesteak I've ever had! Spicy, mushroomy, different textures, totally delicious. Maybe a little too salty, but honestly, great.
