Where to Find Cheese Breads in Boston, From Pide to Khachapuri - Eater Boston

"When biting into a cheese-topped pide from Ali Baba, the tangy, salty cheese is mellowed out perfectly by the thin and crispy dough. For another traditional Turkish preparation, try pide topped with pastirmali (a seasoned, cured beef). Ali Baba is open for takeout and delivery." - Karen Wilber

Google
A clean, unpretentious, simple place with excellent food, good size portions, reasonable prices, and good service. Order included an Adana kebab, spinach pie, fresh bread, and sautéed eggplant. Also happy to see that they sold cold cans of sour cherry, a delicious non-alcoholic Turkish drink.

Good point for this Turkish spot is they are open until late hours and have easy parking. We chose the most well-known Turkish dish “Doner kebab (beef)” and it was nothing close to a tasty one. Meat was burnt and hard to chew without any flavor. We didn’t touch the rice as we didn’t like whatever spice it had. On the side we had baba ganush and honestly I tasted no garlic on it!! mouth felt with lots of tahini but not other key flavors. They have very nice turkish bread though. Adding to all of it is their prices matches the best turkish restaurant in not far neighbourhoods , like $9 for a very small baba ganoush plate.

Google
SUCH delicious food with incredible service. Highly recommend the lamb kebab, chicken also so juicy. The staff was so kind, the Turkish tea and the desserts were five stars. Get the hummus!!

Who on earth would sell such a thing? What makes a lahmacun a lahmacun is the ground meat on top. Does the owner really think they’re making a profit by selling lahmacun like this? Awful.

The Turkish food was excellent! We stayed at a nearby hotel and had the food for multiple nights because it wasn't enough. The bread was crispy on the outside, and warm and fluffy on the inside. Together with the lentil soup as well as the hummus, it was splendid! We also had chicken shish kebab and the avocado salad in this visit, it was a really enjoyable dinner. Come visit if you can!

My friends and I went to Ali Baba late night as a last resort food spot and experienced a kindness that I could not possibly explain in words. The food was delicious, the service despite having come in so late was spectacular, and the atmosphere was so so warm and so so kind. We absolutely destroyed our food and would do so 100 times over. Thank you so so much Alibaba— you will see us again for the wonderful night you gave us !

First time eating from this place. I ordered chicken donner wrap and lahmacun pizza. It was really good 10/10.

I wish I had pictures to share of the food! I dug in right into it and it was delicious!! Some items are not on menu, hover by the counter to check out the extra stuff. Quantity is a lot! The gyro is big enough for 2 people or even 3!! Pricy, but hey, you're in Boston! A little cramped in space if a party of 4+ goes there. Parking spot is available. (I went at 7pm on Monday) Quick to serve. Very well behaved people! Loved it.

Yelp
Absolutely the best spot in the area! Such a hidden gem it's amazing service and AMAZING HOMEMADE FOOD!!!!!!!! If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. I am a picky eater and let me tell you they season their food so well. Amazingly made with love

Yelp
I loved their other location in downtown Boston but the quality was variable so I wanted to try this branch. My first impression was great! The menu is pretty much the same but slightly cheaper. I got the mixed grill plate ($24) which came with bulgur, salad, bread, charred pepper and charred tomato, adana kebab, kofte kebab, lamb shish kebab, chicken kebab, and doner. The lamb was on the dry side but all the other meats were juicy and flavorful. The portion was also huge-- I could probably split it into 3-4 meals if I wanted to. The bread has an amazing texture where the crust is very chewy while the inside is pillowy soft. Some of the oil and juices from the meat soaked into the bulgur which made it even more delicious. Hoping that their quality here is more consistent. I love their food and can't wait to have it again.

Yelp
Ali Baba is half of a Mexican/Turkish restaurant in the Charlestown/Somerville Area. The other half of the restaurant is called El Triunfo. This is the second location of the Ali Baba in Boston. We tried the Mixed Grill and were really impressed with the overall taste and freshness of the platter. All of the meats were juicy and full of flavor. The bulgur was also excellent and well flavored. This was by far the best Turkish food I've had in the Boston area. The portions were also good and the prices were fair. They've got a parking lot right outside and indoor seating. The whole menu is also halal. The service was friendly and fast. I'd definitely check them out.

Yelp
I stopped by Ali Baba on my Dunkin's run. Wow this place is truly a hidden gem. I had the Lahmajun and some Baklava. The portions were bigger than I expected. The place was clean and staff was nice. I left this place very contempt I will be coming back to try their spicy vegetable dip :)

Yelp
The one on Berkeley st gets 5 star so be aware the difference. The Charlestown location has serious service issues. Cashier who is also the only person suppose to provide the food: keeps forgetting to give the food. You have to remind her, " I had this one too" she doesn't even think about the basics. " I need fork please". "I was suppose to get the desert. What about the bread that comes with it. Is not this comes with onion and parsley? " Insult to injury is the fact that I tipped 25% when I order.

Yelp
I've had deliveries from here a couple of times. Not a huge fan, but the food is usually almost cold by the time or reaches home. I'm hoping to try their food in person sometime to get a better sense.

Yelp
How hard is it to put a persons entire order in the bag. If someone pays for baklava - put it in the bag - WTF To think I tipped them too. Double Check all peoples work - people are showing me they are all inept! Not good - very poor! SO SAD!!!!!'

Yelp
This place is my absolute favorite. They have the tastiest food and the BEST service! I usually order a burrito or burrito plate. The meat is always well seasoned and the veggies taste fresh. The portion size for the price you pay is more than worth it. Don't leave without trying the Baklava!

Yelp
I've had good luck here. Usually chicken burrito but also tried the falafel burrito. Had an issue once and they made it right I'll still be ordering here. I like the mix of Mexican and middle eastern food

Yelp
My gyro came in a tortilla shell. I thought I was given a burrito on accident which wouldn't have been so bad. But then I saw all gyro ingredients wrapped up as a buritto. The spanakopita was the worst I've ever had. I think it was deep friend and didn't have filo do. Help?!! I don't understand

Yelp
From the outside, it doesn't look that appealing, but after my Lyft driver recommended it, and a coworker also recommended it, I decided to try it out. If you're staying at the Holiday Inn Express, it's a very short walk. I asked for a recommendation on what to have, and was served a very delicious chicken kabob with rice and salad. I was impressed. It is romantic? Trendy? No. But it's clean, delicious, and serves both Turkish she Mexican food, they're open late, and they have a very impressive selection of dessert goodies. Yes, beyond Turkish goodies. I did not expect to find this little gem. I will be back on my next trip.

Mike W.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Everything I've had was delicious and flavorful. Especially the kabob meal.

Yelp
We had the chicken gyro burrito which was a fun twist on a burrito. The chicken had great flavor and it was a huge burrito. The ingredients were fresh and the tortilla was great and held together well. They were also very friendly and fast for takeout!

Yelp
I would like to give a 5 stars recommendation to Maria. When I go over to get lunch, she is always so pleasant and friendly. Her customer skills are great. As soon as I walk in the door she's like hello and what would you like to order. I always joke with her and say tacos no cheese! She always starts laughing. The other day I went in there to get tacos. She was actually nice and give me a side of guacamole. I like that restaurant and very convenient to my workplace. I will continue to give them business.

Yelp
Delicious and gluten free. Generous sizes and helpful staff. I enjoyed their grape leaves stuffed with savory rice. I then ordered their small lamb shish kabob which I ended up not being able to finish because there were two huge skewers. My son and husband also enjoyed their dishes.

Yelp
This place being open until 2AM is a god send. They have the best drunk eats in all of Boston. My friends and I will roll up at 1AM on a Saturday night basically every other week and it never disappoints. They are so nice in there and just consistently provide the best service and food you could ask for.

Yelp
Ali Baba apparently opened two months ago. We discovered them this week and just finished our first order. It's really excellent, authentic food, and it's real home cooking. We had falafel sandwiches, the large assorted meze, and chicken Adana kebab. The falafel was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and mildly spiced. I recommend adding hummus or labni, as they don't put either on by default. You can ask for them when you order. The meze was enormous, and full of a variety of tastes and textures. The baba ganoush was less smoky than I like, but maybe that's the Turkish style. Their hummus is silky smooth and subtly spiced; you will want to eat it with a spoon but put it on their flatbread instead. Looking forward to trying them again soon.

Yelp
The kebabs are really huge it's a little bit expensive but it's well worth it I get at least two meals out of them very impressed. I always have to finish up with some of the baklava it's some of the sweetest flakiest and the best just say it's incredible I really recommend this restaurant the value is there. Owner operated and clean I recommend trying the food

Yelp
We have ordered both Mexican and Turkish food. Both awesome and fresh. Would recommend a wrap or a quesadilla - also their desserts are delish! Very clean and quick service.
