Two of us were here with an RSVP this past Saturday to celebrate my wife's birthday. Less than 10 minutes after we were seated at our table, while my wife was in the bathroom, the hostess accosted me and told me that the table I was seated at was reserved and asked me to move to the bar. The thing is, the table was reserved for ME and in less than 10 minutes, she had already forgotten that she had seated me there. I had to politely remind her.
Our waitress was absolutely terrible. She had a bad attitude and very clearly didn't care about anything but trying to make a quick and easy buck.
Their craft cocktail list is small which is normal but they were "out" of two of them. How does a speakeasy run out of craft cocktails at 9:30 pm on a Saturday? Because they use pre-made mixes...Because they aren't actually craft cocktails. What kind of a speakeasy doesn't make their drinks on the fly? It didn't matter, the drinks they did make us were absolutely terrible. One thing you'll learn about DC, everyone charges $15 to $25 for mixed drinks and craft cocktails so make sure you go to a place that makes them perfectly for that kinda money. Alias is not one of them.
The ambience is sincerely nothing special. There are way cooler spots in DC where you will spend less money and get better drinks and service. The men working the door were super friendly, kind l, funny and truly the only reason Alias is getting two stars instead of one.
