Bars Serving Bombay Sapphire Cocktails | Eater

"There’s nothing wrong with spending a night in the drunk tank — at least not this one, which has plush red leather seats and candlelit tables framed by iron prison bars. The Liberty Hotel was the Charles Street Jail back in the 1800s, and thus is now home to what may be the most unique hotel bar in town. Aside from a smattering of celebrity mugshots adorning the walls and some aptly-named cocktails (Doin’ Thyme, anyone?) there’s nothing overly gimmicky about Alibi, which balances original historic features with a surprisingly cozy vibe. If iron bars start to give you the creeps, you can always set yourself free with a cocktail to the sprawling patio." - Vox Creative

Nic, the new bartender was awesome. I've been coming to this hotel since it opened in 2008, my close friend opened a clink upstairs and we always had so much fun here. Boston has become so boring in the last few years after covid, but I came here and your new bartender made me feel so welcome and so at home I was so happy I was having a bad day and she came and she gave me a drink. All I had was water and she still treated me like a prince. She was so nice. She was so friendly and her friend was sitting at the bar and she was nice to me as well. She'd never insulted me or called me a liar. I promise she never called me a liar. She was so nice. Her friend at the bar was so so nice but really especially Nic was the nicest!!!!! Edit 7/24/25 10:30PM EST (Her friend wasn't so nice she actually did call me a liar, but I think Nic believed that I wasn't a liar and was so so nice. Nic is also very lovely looking and intelligent.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at Alibi in Boston. The atmosphere was great, but what really made the night stand out was our server, Alexis. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. Her energy was infectious, and she handled everything with such professionalism and ease. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests. If you're heading to Alibi, I highly recommend asking for Alexis—you won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I recently had our first meal at Alibi. Every bit of it was delicious. We were both quickly drawn to our choices: the duck breast risotto for him and the London salmon for me. Both were excellent. (Yes, I tried his meal.) The buffalo mozzarella starter was awesome as well. Our server, Alexis, was lovely. She was friendly, helpful, and attentive. She didn’t seem like she was presenting her “work self.” Rather she showed herself to be a very pleasant, very competent server. We lucked out. We plan on returning for our second visit soon.

My experience was great, it was my first time and I loved the atmosphere, service, food and drinks.

My boyfriend and I recently came here and had a great time. Alexis made sure we had a great experience and provided us with top-notch hospitality! We appreciated the attentiveness she gave us and taking the time to give us her top recommendations. We will be coming again!

Google
I had an amazing first time experience at the restaurant, thanks to our waitress, Alexis. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Alexis anticipated our needs, made great food recommendations, and ensured everything came out perfectly and on time. Highly recommend asking for Alexis if you visit!

Google
I had an amazing time with my family when getting food and drinks at Alibi! The atmosphere is so unique and lively! Our server Alexis was so sweet and accommodating! She took amazing care of us! We will definitely be back!

TheQueenOfTheBean

Google
Alexis was amazing and welcomed the first MGH crew to Alibi. Both her and the manager took good care of us! We loved Alexis, will definitely come back for another experience with her!

Ingrid J.

Yelp
Our waitperson was Alexis who was totally charming! She answered all our questions and gave us prompt and attentive service. We enjoyed the general atmosphere as well as our food (appetizers and drinks were especially good!), but Alexis made the evening for us. We will definitely go back again!

Yelp
Very fun clubby bar at night! One floor up and the restaurant bar is a little quieter to start the night before you head downstairs. Pros: No cover! Great patio outside Lots of space Cons: DJ won't play song requests Notes: 20% gratuity automatically charged for all purchases at the bar

Yelp
I was excited to go here as my friend had shared the story behind the restaurant. I thought it was a cool concept and couldn't wait to try. It is located inside the Liberty Hotel which used to be a jail back in the day. It was repurposed to be a hotel plus various restaurants including Alibi. The restaurant had a nice entrance, it looked fancy. We had a reservation and when we entered the concierge was not at the stand so we had to wait quite a few minutes before we were seated. We were seated in a table with bunk like chairs as well as a wider chair (with a back) that looked like a throne chair, which I loved. Both my friend and I sat on the throne like chair because neither one of us can do chairs without back support. The bar area was there but far enough that we weren't disturbed by the noise in there as it was busier than the rest of the restaurant. We ordered Calamari Fritto, Duck Fat fries, and we both had the Tuna Steak as a starter. My friend had an espresso martini and I had a drink called Hacienda. The food was delicious. I loved every bite of everything I had never had Tuna Steak, it was definitely 10/10. The drinks were good too. One thing I will say is that the area where we were sitting had red lighting which made it extremely difficult to see the menu. There were parts of the menu that were not legible due to the contrast of the lighting against the menu page. I couldn't tell you what color our drinks or our food were unless I used the flash to see. It was tough to sit there for a prolonged period of time. Once we wrapped up, we went upstairs to walk around a bit. The area was nice and I got to see other sections of the jail. I do love the concept and would go back but would request to sit elsewhere. There is a small parking lot across the street. The bathroom was not the cleanest.

Yelp
Service sucks!!! It was a slow Monday night & it took over 20 minutes for us to even be acknowledged by the bartender & we're were sitting right in front of her. Drinks were decent but again sooooo slow. Super cool place with a ton of history being an old jail. Won't come back because how poor the service was.
google avatar

Bella T.

Yelp
It's always a party at Alibi!! Weekends are so much fun with the live DJ's and great tunes. The place literally turns into a club at night. Service is always so nice, love the people who work here, and the food its the bomb.com. It's actually made at Scampo which is on the next floor right above Alibi.
google avatar

Dil S.

Yelp
Awesome old jail converted to a bar/club/lounge downstairs with another bar up the escalator on second floor. Cool hotel and drinks are creative and pretty quick. Dinner was surpassingly decent in the lounge. Tuna tartar, lamb, and pizza all solid.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here. Terrible place. Cramped and music was extremely loud and the worst was that the bottle girls were so rude??? They aimed this popping blue powder at me when I was at my table and got blue powder all over me and my new jacket, when I asked if they could pay for the dry cleaning, one of the bigger blonde bottle girls came out from the back room and said it's my fault for being at table service and that my jacket was not worth them dry cleaning then proceeded to walk away.
google avatar

Bea T.

Yelp
Food is decently good, but Service can do a little more tweaking. But the tuna tartare was great and so was the lamb pizza. The pork skin spaghetti was ok. We sat outside on the patio and they were puddles and at least the cushions were dry. They could've had somebody to mop it up. Also, they were trainees who kept on messing up couple of the orders, but they were very polite. Also, the bar outside had very limited alcohol. Would you believe they did not have a house sangria during summer? Anyway, it was nice was the decor and the old-school lounge singer who sang all my favorite tunes from Frank Sinatra.
google avatar

Isaiah V.

Yelp
Decent place. The food and drinks were in line with other north station/MGH restaurants. The place is inside a hotel so getting inside was a bit of a hassle but the ambiance was cool, almost like a jailhouse. It turned into live music at night which was great. Overall I'd go here again!
google avatar

Natalia G.

Yelp
Alibi was great. So cool it used to be a prison. The food and drinks were both delicious, and portions were bigger than expected. Lamb pizza was sparse on the goat cheese but we asked for extra and they brought it. It was still good either way. Carbonara was so creamy with a good amount of pancetta. Service was prompt and our waitress was attentive. She switched my drink when I didn't like the first. Wasnt seated near the bar, but there was definitely a lot of people by the time we left and the vibe seemed lively. They have outdoor seating. Downside... it is in a hotel and the only parking you'll probably find is the hotel valet unless you take public transit or taxi/ride-share, or find parking elsewhere but don't mind walking a little.
google avatar

Krista C.

Yelp
Bartender was super nice and environment was fun/chill. The martinis were okay, nothing anything crazy. Seems like a fun post work drink spot!
google avatar

Dee C.

Yelp
There's an inside and an outside. Both are beautiful. They were playing some good songs, there were some people no dancing. I had one drink while I was there, and it was wine, so I can't say what mixed drinks are like. But they were very expensive, I got a Red Bull, a wine and a vodka tonic when he came up to 60 bucks. There is a bar inside and outside. The parking is terrible, but they do have a valet. I love that they have a hotel upstairs, and theres a bar up there, too.
google avatar

Julianne W.

Yelp
The snack options are to die for (especially the green beans) if you are looking to pop in to eat, and the ambience at night is great! One of my favorite late night spots, but can sometimes get pretty packed depending on events that might be happening at the hotel or locally. Bar service is always great, even when the bar is packed!
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
It is a fun prison themed bar speakeasy with outside space. The bar is hidden a little so makes it even more exclusive. The food was decent. The sliders were good but the steak and chicken on a stick was dry. The hot dogs had ketchup and mustard on them?! Come on.. it should only be mustard. We had standard bar fare so wasn't blown away. I would come back for a drink.

Yelp
Prisoner vibes? Check. Food coming out quickly? Check. Tasty drinks? Check. Delicious food? Check. Our group tried many of the dishes and all of it was so savory and delicious, although on the greasy, oilier, and rich side. But I couldn't stop inhaling the food!! For drinks, I liked the Crime of Passion but it didn't seem very strong. The alibi vibes were funny (including actual mug shots!) but I was surprised to find electric candles tbh for such an upscale place.

Yelp
Hands Down the Best Bar Experience in Boston! If you're looking for the ultimate spot in Boston to unwind, have a good time, and enjoy fantastic food and drinks, Alibi is the place to be--and I have Christopher Donovan to thank for making it unforgettable! I can't speak highly enough of the level of hospitality and service that Christopher provides. He's a true professional who goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels like family. Whether it's his attention to detail, his friendly attitude, or his ability to anticipate exactly what you need, Christopher makes every visit feel special. He doesn't just serve drinks--he creates an experience. I've been bringing my friends, colleagues, and business partners to Alibi for months, and each time, they've been blown away by the atmosphere, the food, and, of course, the service. It's one of those rare places in Boston where you know you're going to have a good time every single time you walk through the door. From top-notch cocktails to mouthwatering dishes, the food and drink selection here is always on point. The ambiance is lively yet relaxed, making it perfect for after-work hangouts, a night out with friends, or even a corporate outing (I've brought several office groups here, and everyone leaves impressed). You can never go wrong at Alibi, and it's Christopher's dedication to his craft that makes it stand out in a city full of great options. If you're looking for a place to go for an incredible time, trust me--head to Alibi and ask for Christopher. His incredible service will have you coming back time and time again. Kudos to him and the whole team for creating a place that I'm proud to recommend to everyone!

Yelp
Cute vibe, and love both the indoor and outdoor space. The service was fantastic. The drinks were a bit sweet, and the food was just okay - but I definitely appreciated all the gluten free options available and ordered a clam pasta. Definitely a very instagrammable spot but not sure if I'd come back given all the tasty options around.

Yelp
Best bar ever!!!!! Ben is the coolest guy ever! Highly recommend but only if Ben is working cuz he's the

Yelp
Cocktails were really well made here. Vibe was decent for a hotel bar. Definitely oner the QR menus but not the restaurant's fault
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely loved the alibi patio. From the start, when I went to check in inside I was treated with "welcome to jail" which was cute. The patio was adorable and such a vibe. Our waitress was super nice. My drink was gorgeous and tasty. My naan food was a bit sup bar but the rest made up for it
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere and story behind Alibi. We originally went to visit liberty tree but they were so booked we shuffled into alibi and had the best time. We ordered the prosciutto pizza as an app and I still think about it to this day. Drinks were great, food was fantastic and our server was so sweet! Highly recommend Alibi for drinks, apps and dinner!
google avatar

Neha M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I made a reservation here for Valentine's Day and it was such a cute spot! The restaurant was decorated for valentines day with a cute photo wall and red streamers and hearts everywhere. I was a big fan. It's definitely a cute drinks spot - the sangria was delicious I would come back for that drink alone. We didn't get to try the food as it was a pre fix menu but the not a lot of vegetarian options

Skylar D.

Yelp
Alibi as of lately has been crushing it. It's always packed but super easy to get the attention of the bartender for a drink and the GM Christopher is amazing when we have a table he's right there if we need anything at all. So far only 10/10

Yelp
I went here a few saturdays ago and absolutely loved it! fun decorations and really good music! highly recommend for a night out!
google avatar

Brooke A.

Yelp
Late night drinks and daytime eats!! This is a go to late night spot with great music and enough space to dance on the indoor dance floor or have more of a chill lounge vibe on the patio. The drinks are great and plentiful but typical boston pricey. There usually isn't a cover but there can be a little line due to ID checking. Note the bathrooms are outside of the restaurant past the bouncers. I recently came here for dinner (hence why I removed one star). The drinks were plentiful as always. I grabbed 2 glasses of wine and a "Murder She Wrote" which I highly recommend. It was a "looker" too as several people came by asking what it was. For dinner I had the small portion of bolognese which was meaty and saucy but lacked flavor. One of my friends grabbed the cracklings and hot pepper pasta which she said also lacked flavor, and another friend had the duck which was served charred on the outside and rare on the inside, not the temp she was expecting. Even though the entrees were a dud in our opinion, the apps were great! We had the Bufala Mozzarella with tomatoes, fried green beans and duck fat fries!!! If I were to go for food again, I would stick to the apps and cocktails and stay for the party!
google avatar

Sarha S.

Yelp
Was told by a mutual friend place would be a vibe with good music turned out music was good but vibe was off. Security was rude at the end of the night. Couldn't wait for my friend to put her coat on made rude and slick comments for us to leave. We get it place closes at 2 we were on our way out no need to be ignorant. Ghetto mentality needs new workers
google avatar

Macoisinha M.

Yelp
We went to Alibi for drinks around 10pm and we had a great time. The place used to be a jail and it has this very unique look. The vibe was really nice and the Dj was great. Would definitely go back! The liberty hotel bar which is in the same building is also beautiful and worth checking out
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Come for the drinks and aesthetic. Really cool theme and great selection of drinks. Had a tasty bourbon drink and buddy had a great gin drink. Got the original pizza to snack on and it was okay, only knock on the place
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
Bartender asked my friend if she was pregnant and then comped our drinks and said it's his obligation to ask if he sees a "pudge in the stomach"
google avatar

Liz F.

Yelp
Come here for the atmosphere - not for the food / drinks! Given the three-star reviews, I was skeptical to come here. But my coworkers insisted it was a great spot. The bar is the old 'Drunk Tank' of the Charles Street Jail - the hotel itself being the old jail. You walk in and you can still see the signs that the space was a jail - a very cool vibe. The cocktails were just meh, though, and food... the same.
google avatar

Gamze C.

Yelp
The bar is located inside Liberty Hotel where was once a jail, then converted to a hotel, restaurant and bar. (The restaurant -Clink- and Alibi Bar have similar decoration and there is Liberty Bar upstairs in the lobby.) The building itself is very interesting, you can see the old cells etc. The general decoration of Alibi Bar is like a prison and there are celebrity mugshots on the wall. We came here for drinks but the cocktail menu is not that impressive and is pricey. We ordered "Sawney Bean", "The Green Mile" and after "Amelia" -wine-. All were disappointing. Especially cocktails were not tasty. So we decided to go to the upstairs Liberty Bar to end the night. Probably the hotel is one of the best hotels in Boston, looks really clean. And the hotel bar itself is way more better, spacious lobby area with themed decor and the cocktail menu is trendy and delicious.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Valet greeting was so professional and kind. Our hostess & waitress were so great. We arrived for our reservation which was made online for Alibi and were seated in the outside courtyard. We spent $40 on parking plus drinks and dinner here. Drinks were average and food was just ok and way overpriced for what you get. We were hoping to also have dessert and another round of drinks we were asked to leave our seating because it was "reserved" although we never saw anyone be seated at these empty areas once we vacated. We felt rushed our evening out was cut short and essentially ruined. As a higher end establishment and having spent a considerable amount of money I would have expected a much better experience. I've had a way better customer experience in dive bars. I won't be coming here again.

Chris J.

Yelp
If you're part of the LGBTQIA+ community, do not come here - somebody in VIP told us that he doesn't want to see "f***ots" dancing near him & proceeded to have EVERY security guard come and yell at us to get away simply for being gay and making this "VIP" dude uncomfortable. We pushed back and told them to move everybody else out of the area if we couldn't be there (they made up a lie that nobody could dance in that area) and they refused to make anybody else leave. This happened with at least 5 different security guards and they wouldn't leave us alone until we felt extremely uncomfortable and had to leave and ask for the manager. This was our first stop of the night, so we were entirely sober, and ended up being the last because we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable. The manager, Ben, tried to remedy the situation by offering us a free shot, but then insisted on taking us to the other side of the club - this didn't help us feel more comfortable at all because he was simply trying to get us into a different area when we should've been made to feel comfortable in any part of the club. Would give 0 stars if possible, but 1 will do. Please do not feel safe at this club as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community because non of the security guards have any respect for you if you aren't VIP or straight. We have all the security encounters on video if the company tries to respond with a nonsense review.

Yelp
This cool trendy bar was once a jail but has been converted to a hotel, restaurant, and bar. I have been wanting to try the bar for a while after having seen pictures of the cool drinks and themed decor. They have celebrity mug shots on the wall to keep with the prison decor. I went there earlier in the night as we didn't make a reservation and I wanted to get there before it got busier. We were seated right away, it wasn't crowded yet, but after having been there for 30 minutes it was full. For getting there and not many people being there yet, the service was a tad slow. The waiter seemed to be getting more and more stressed as the tables started to fill up. Their drink menu is really exciting, everything looked delicious, and again, they were on brand with the prison theme. I got the spicy inmate and it was delicious. They are a little bit pricier but that is to be expected at a trendy bar in Boston like this. We also decided to get some food and got the calamari, tomato pizza, and caesar salad. Everything was delicious, but WAY over priced for what it was. The salad was extremely small as well, especially for how much it costs. It would be fun to go back when it's warmer outside. They have a really cute patio area. But I will just be getting drinks and no food.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
This place was recommended by the Hotel Concierge and was really disappointed with the food quality and service. The lobster pizza tasted like it came out of the box and furthermore, was room temperature. The late evening trip to the toilet ensued. There are many great places in Boston, this one falls to the absolute bottom.

Yelp
This review is for the hotel lounge and Alibi... and I have to say it's ONE THOUSAND AND 1 VIBES! I came here on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night and each night was progressively better. First their decor and atmosphere is TOP NOTCH. They have a spacious, upscale, luxurious atrium. Every night they have different free events going on. Thursday night they have low key fashion show. By low key, I mean it's doesn't stop or interfere with anything else going on, it's just a cherry on top to the atmosphere. Friday and Saturday night I checked out Alibi. DJ was on point playing mostly 2000's hip hop/ r'n'b and the crowd is friendly and diverse. I made friends with people every night I was there. Saturday night there was bit of line, I waited maybe 10 to 15 minutes to get in. I can see it getting busier during the warmer months too. This is a great venue if you want to go somewhere nice to grab a drink and/or go dancing and not have to deal with any BS at the door.

Yelp
Just no... the whole vibe is off. If you want to be surrounded by the "college elites", by all means go here. Just make sure you are attending Harvard or better. Good luck. May the odds be ever in your favor.
google avatar

Yelp
Vibe: I stayed at the hotel so was able to see how Alibi changes depending on the day. On Friday night and Saturday, the place is lively but otherwise it's pretty dead on other days. Before 10pm, they play music quietly and you are able to talk and have conversation without too much trouble and there is no dress code. After 10pm they no longer allow sandals, they crank up the music to be like a club but the dancing area is pretty small. The theme is a bit of a gimmick but it's cool. They have a nice outdoor area as well with cool lighting. Drinks: I got two cocktails. I like my drinks sweeter. These were great. Food: The pizza is real bad. It's like a frozen pizza quality. You can order it if you are hungry but do not come here for food. This would be 1 star for a food joint.
google avatar

Areeba Z.

Yelp
Came here for drinks and appetizers with a friend. The bar is located inside Liberty Hotel, which used to be a jail. They have kept the cells so the building itself is pretty interesting. We got a couple rounds of drinks with garlic bread. The service is fast and the garlic bread was amazing. It does get a little dark and cramped inside. However the music and vibes are great! Definitely worth checking out - for the building itself and the cool experience!

Yelp
Hit or miss, but it doesn't as much depend on when you go, as much as what you get. I'll provide a TL;DR at the end. I'd like to first ask: where are all the people? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it wasn't crowded, but if a good bar is relatively dead at 7-ish on a Saturday, well, why? Maybe 7 isn't prime time for crowds, but a couple more people? To drink I ordered an Indecent Exposure. Don't let the color fool you, this drink has kick! Initial flag or very mild and balanced, and the tequila (as far as I've seen it go) isn't too intense. Then the heat gets you. It won't have you begging for water, but it will warm your mouth up nicely. Pretty strong too, I could definitely feel an effect while and especially after it. For food I ordered the Bulgogi Skewers (cooked medium rare) some Tuna Tartare, and the Tiramisu to finish off the meal. Skewers were a miss. With the exception of one piece, that had the melt in your mouth flavor, the rest were incredibly chewy. To the point where the center might as well have been a gum-ball. Chew all day and it's still there. Seasoning wise I would have liked a touch more, but didn't find myself asking for salt, pepper, or A1. Sauces coming with the dish were nice as well, only I do wish those not on the meat were a little more differentiated. The salad that came with it was extremely pleasant. Actually had flavor instead of being a bunch of crunchy but otherwise tasteless lettuce. Tuna Tartare was a sure hit. The same salad makes a reprise, but man oh man that tuna. The consistency was perfect, whatever mix-ins were. Ere added a wonderful dimension of crunch, and the sauce was on point! Not only did it tie everything together, it was in perfect amount too! Side sauce had differentiation this time, which I liked! The tiramisu was a mixed bag, 85 percent good, 15% room for improvement. It wasn't overly sweet, and the dough was very nicely soaked in a sweet alcohol of some kind. In terms of improvement, I found there was too much cream. Having more dough would keep this wonderful dessert more on balance. The location was pretty neat. Large, clean, plenty of room (again, it wasn't super busy), and lots of cozy, inviting spaces for small or large groups! Nice, large outdoor space as well! The service was overall pretty quick. But then there's the question of value/price. Tuna Tartare's price is up there, but good, sushi grade tuna is expensive, and this quality showed, so no issues here. Tiramisu was priced fairly. Skewers were a little towards the expensive side, but if they had that melt in your mouth quality I would not be complaining as much. The drink however was definitely overpriced compared to similar downtown Boston locations. Sure it was a great drink, but those are not a rarity. TL;DR: a clean, spacious inviting bar with hit-or-miss (though generally solid) food, and great but overpriced drinks (think: Vegas level overpriced). This place is large-group friendly, but value and quality wise there are definitely better places around.

Yelp
Great hotel and staff--but this place was a huge disappointment and an awful customer experience. Ordered a whiskey up and got an eye dropper of a drink...more than 30 minutes before closing, they turn up the lights and turn off the music to basically force people to leave. Ruined our night.

Danny M.

Yelp
absolute shit, they add the tip to every check AND have a line for an "additional tip". Staff are good but what a disgrace of a business for auto charging the tip at the bar.
google avatar

Tracy B.

Yelp
Drinks are fine, Snack are Meh... We were at a meeting in the Liberty all week so it was just the easy place to go and end the night. Staff was Blah, drinks were pricey, but it again was convenient. Would prob not ever go back if not staying in the hotel!
google avatar

Satoe S.

Yelp
My friends and I went here last week and it was a lot of fun. Make reservations because it is hard to get into. Everyone was really good about wearing masks, but it is dark and loud when we went at 9:30 so it's hard to hear anyone. With that said though, the dj played great music and the staff were friendly and pretty fast. We didn't have dinner here, but ordered chips and guac. They have two separate items "chips and guac" and "chips and pico de gallo". Note: the chips and guac has some pico de gallo on it, so I think it was the right choice. It was a small portion, but good. We got some fun drinks. They have some drinks with ghost pepper tequila like ghosted and spicy inmate which were really good. The vibe here is really interesting with exposed brick walls and pictures of celebrities and their reason for going to jail. Prices were a little on the higher side, but for a few drinks at an interesting place, would recommend!

Yelp
Such a cute and fun bar, there weren't many people there when we were but I loved the decor on the walls and thought it had a great atmosphere. The tribute to it having once been a jail was also really cool. Our drinks came out quickly and the staff was all super friendly. I also tried the green bean tempura, it was really yummy and came with a lot of green beans to share!

Yelp
Fun, trendy little bar in the Liberty Hotel. We actually found this place after finding out that the prison scene with Billy Connolly in The Boondock Saints was filmed here. It was originally the Boston County Jail and was later remodeled into a hotel. The drinks were tasty (Single White Female and Peaches & Cream) and the appetizer sausage pizza was surprisingly delicious. Would be fun for a once in awhile happy hour but I couldn't see coming here regularly.

Yelp
Both the outdoor bar and outdoor table service was great, really friendly & attentive staff. For food starting with the pizzas, they were all very tasty, not too heavy, perfect finger food for sharing. The duck fat fries were absolutely wonderful & delectable. I highly recommend them along with the calamari. What could have been a smidge better was the Caesar salad because even though I understand the desire to redesign something common, deconstructing the salad by serving whole, giant romaine leaves is inconvenient & awkward in my opinion! Still, the flavors were all there!

Yelp
We came here because of the cool concept of a restaurant in the old Charles street jail. Unfortunately that was really just a gimmick and the authentic pieces of brick and jail cells components were overshadowed by the tacky and poorly thought out decor. The drinks were priced like some of the most upscale restaurants in Boston, and all sounded good on the menu, but were half-heartedly executed and very heavy on the alcohol. Of course, that is better than the alternative, but for the price I would also like my drink to taste good. Food was mediocre and, again, over priced for the serving size and quality. Safe your time and money and go to one of the many better restaurants in the area; Alibi will let you down.

Yelp
Would NOT recommend this place. Bad service, bad drinks, rude and unprofessional staff. Our food was decent but horrible smells coming from other food being served. The lobster pizza smelled very foul. Also, super overpriced, even for the city. We will not be back. The only thing cool was the old jail bars and drunk tank photos on the wall. Only good for a walk through, not to stay for a drink.
