"Heights restaurant and bistro Alice Blue will officially close its doors following dinner service on Sunday, February 25, a rep announced on January 24. Claire Smith, the owner and a Houston restaurateur of more than 20 years, said in an emailed statement to Eater Houston that the decision to close is a personal one. “My lease on 19th Street is ending. My son is a Sophomore at Rice (my Alma mater) and the time seems right for enjoying life,” Smith wrote." - Courtney E. Smith

"Alice Blue is the kind of place that could easily become a “regular” for Heights residents. While the menu isn’t vast, there are plenty of comfort plates for every palate — deviled eggs with pickled mustard seeds, mac ‘n’ cheese with herbed breadcrumbs, crispy jumbo shrimp fried in panko and Southern fried boneless half chicken served with mashed potatoes, sausage gravy, green beans and Texas toast. Call 713-864-2050 to order." - Megha McSwain

Tried this place out the other day and will definitely be back! They have a great happy hour for both drinks and appetizers along with a few meal options at a discounted price. The food presentation and taste was amazing, we loved everything we tried on the menu. The service was really good and the atmosphere is cute and nice.

I came to Houston for a graduation and stopped in, and I must say I was pleased. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. I will recommend Alice Blue to my friends who live in Houston. I had the avocado toast with salmon, it was very good and so was the strawberry margarita.

This place had been on my list to try and I’m so glad it hit the spot! I took my mom, grandmother, and my wife here for brunch. We hadn’t seen each other in months so what started out as breakfast turned into brunch and then lunch. We ordered several round of mimosas and coffee while we caught up and we also ordered breakfast. I loved their chai. It was hot, spicy, sweet, and huge! You can’t go wrong with their chai. I also loved my crispy pork belly and grits with a hot honey glaze. The flavors of sweet, sour, spicy, salty along with the crispy texture of the pork belly and grits made this an incredibly flavorful bite. Even without tasting the rest of the menu I can say with certainty this is definitely a star dish. They had a range of offers for breakfast so no matter whether you were craving something sweet or savory they had something to satisfy you. There was a bar, booths, tables, and an alley with outdoor tables you could sit at along with clean bathrooms. The restaurant was ADA accessible and overall it was a chill vibe to do brunch and enjoy a weekend morning. We especially appreciated the server who doted on us, Jenn. She was very sweet and accommodating my grandmother. I’m going to add this to my list of fave weekend brunch spots!

This was a nice little gem to stumble upon. Came for brunch over the weekend and the food was terrific!! The protein bowl was very yummy as well as the Mac and cheese!!

Google
Really really cute place! Went on Sunday around 11:30am with a friend and did not have to wait at all to get a table. Their fries/house potatoes are to DIE for 🤩 the crispy chicken sandwich was pretty decent. Definitely a great spot if you love an eggy brunch. They are really generous with their mimosas as well.

Google
We were looking for someplace new for lunch and decided on Alice Blue. My wife and I really enjoyed it. We each had the crabcake and fried green tomatoes, along with hummus for an appetizer. We split a pecan tart for dessert. The meal was delicious and well presented. Definitely try it again when we’re in the neighborhood.

Google
Migas and pulled pork tostadas are amazing! Great coffee and patio as well! Update: came back for dinner and everything was amazing! The flautas were some of the best we've had and the burger was on point. And of course their famous bacon Mac and cheese did not disappoint. Great service as well. We will be back for sure!

Google
This is such a cute place with a nice calm vibe. I went for brunch, and I was delighted by all the options. The mini pastries are so cute and tasty, and the iced chai is absolutely delicious. The staff are all super friendly and definitely made the visit a great one.

Yelp
Met my brother here for lunch and had higher hopes for this menu. Alice Blue is a cute enough place - and mostly the staff is very friendly & accommodating. But don't bring a guy here and expect him to be satisfied. I checked this menu online, and saw some healthier options than other places, and thought the menu was perfect for us. But from the moment we walked in, I realized this is a woman's restaurant... and a petite woman's restaurant at that. We skipped the appetizers so the drinks would be more successful at winning the race they were destined to run.... But after waiting forever for our waitress to come back after taking our drink orders, the bartender delivered our sangria (good - but average) and placatingly took our order.... BLESS HER! My brother from the same mother ordered the fish tacos, and I got the cauliflower plate after recommendations from the bartender. There were two tacos on his plate, along with some corn - which seemed to be his favorite part of the meal. My meal consisted literally of 5-6 VERY PETITE cauliflower heads, sitting in a bowl of a tomato-based sauce. No bread, no additions - just me and my 5 sprigs of sauced 'flower. Par usual, Brotha J and I had a wonderful visit, shared some great conversation and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch date. The food was tasty in its "breatharian" portioning, and while I exaggerate (slightly), our final bill was around $90 including tip. Which would be fine, if my brother didn't tell me that he stopped on the way home to "grab some lunch" before he got home.... Aesthetic - 7 of 10 Libations - ? We both shared the same drink, so I have no idea if the beer is flat or if the sweet & sour handmade or from a grocery-store jug. Service - Hit or miss. Waitress sucked, bartender was pleasing & helpful. Menu - Medusa - enticing but deceptive... meaning, you're gonna pay a BIG price for being their patron. Food - Tasty - enjoyable in the taste you are served. Restrooms - Pleasant, clean and smells like fresh, hot bagels. 10 of 10. Will I return to this restaurant? No Would I recommend someone eat here at least once - you know, just to say they've tried it if they're surfing Yelp for tonight's bellyfull? Again, nope. Would I recommend someone eat here if other places are closed? Ahhhh - NO. - why? Because it's a helluva a tab to pay when you walk away from your meal already planning on frying up a couple o' bologna sandwiches when you get home... This is the place you're looking for if you're planning on meeting your female friends for "tea". EVERYONE will like the food, agree that they all have NO idea how on Earth they're able to make the damned restrooms smell so good here, and rave on Social Media how slightly more than moderately cute the place is! I know this review sounds VERY Karen of me. But while this restaurant was overall better than average - it truly is a place I wouldn't considering coming back to. If only because there was almost nothing memorable about it or the food. I'm sorry. I feel bad, but it's the truth...

Yelp
I was so sad to hear that Alice Blue will be closing for good this month! This was always one of the best places in the neighborhood for Sunday brunch and a restaurant that satisfied all types of picky diners. The prices are fair, the ambiance warm and comfortable & service always good. My only slight criticism was that they didn't have beer on tap - bottles only. Anyway, sad to see this place go and I hope the new owner keeps its spirit alive!

Yelp
Alice Blue is a New American Bistro & Bar located on 19th Street in The Heights. Atmosphere is airy and comfortable. Tried the Pork Chilaquiles on the brunch menu - pretty savory, though was expecting them to be more flavorful. Drinks range from coffees, cocktails, beers and wines. Service was good; not super busy today around 11:30am. Inside and outside seating available. Parking is limited, mostly street.

Yelp
June 27, 2023 The old "Shade" restaurant, same owner, Claire. Looked the same to me. Sat at the bar and had 1 cocktail on HH and left. Nice bartender.

Macy B.

Yelp
Alice blue is a very casual place to have a quick dinner and hangout with friends. The food was decent but had a beautiful presentation. I started out with the strawberry mock tail and it was delicious! It comes in a tiny glass but it's so sour that you can only drink a little at a time- I would highly recommend. As far as the food, we started out with the deviled eggs and beets for appetizers. The deviled eggs were delicious, as you would expect deviled eggs to taste like. The beets were very bland unless if you put the grapefruit or orange with it. I did not like the dish. For dinner I got the bolognese pasta and was not impressed. It was over cooked pasta that had a meat sauce on top. Overall, it's a good place if you're on the go but I probably won't be back.

Yelp
We came around 12pm on a Sunday for brunch. It was very busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation beforehand - we made a reservation that morning but a few hours in advance, and we were still able to find a great time for brunch that day. I ordered an iced chai with oat milk and it was delicious. It was very sweet, just in case you're not into that! I also ordered the crab cake and 2 eggs (I believe it's literally called that on the menu) but with no bacon. The menu states that the eggs were over easy , but our server still asked how I wanted them done. The crab cake is served under a bed of fresh seasoned veggies (snow peas, corn, etc.) and on top of two onion rings. The crab cake was really fresh, and the onion rings were lightly coated with an awesome sauce. All in all, pretty great food! Finally, our server was awesome and very attentive. Parking is limited; we parked in the lot directly across the street.

Yelp
Just had the yummiest brunch at Alice Blue! Both of our dishes were amazing. I'm not much of a coffee person but my boyfriend is and he said the coffee was good as well! Our waiter, Ken was kind and helpful. The interior of the restaurant is really cute and it's a lot bigger inside than expected. Definitely recommend AB if you're looking for a good brunch option in the Heights area!

Dennis C.

Yelp
It was a nice and quaint brunch spot in The Heights. Menu was your typical brunch menu. We made reservations online and it was a good busy brunch. Now to the food! I had the Smoked Salmon Tartare which was like a Bagel and Lox without the Bagel. It was delicious and fresh. The salad and chips were nice accompaniment with the salmon. The eggs Benedict was solid. Just the right amount of food and quite tasty. Staff were attentive and super hospitable. Just note parking is street parking and find parking where ever you can.

Yelp
The pastry appetizer was fun to try and share, really delicious treats to start off with! Favorites were the chocolate stuffed croissant, fruit kolache, monkey bread, and a sweet almond croissant. Deviled eggs were delicious to me as I enjoy a strong mustard flavor but wasn't preferred by others who don't like the sour notes. Avocado toast was loaded but would have benefited from a bit of salt and there wasn't salt provided at the table. Recommend the French toast and bacon was good! Appreciated that I was able to sub side of chips with fresh fruit on my avocado toast place and loved that it included another deviled egg as the appetizer left me wanting more. Ambiance was chill & not a loud place, you can actually enjoy your meal while conversing. Bar area looked really nice as well. Service could have been better since it wasn't busy when we were there and it took a while before our table was checked on after being seated and then had to ask twice for drip coffee as it was forgotten so only had it for second half of meal. Other than that I'm sure we will be back.

Morgan L.

Yelp
Went here last night for dinner before going to a show at heights theater. The experience was all around amazing. Service was attentive, vibe/atmosphere was comfy, the cocktails were creative, and the food was good. We only got starters as we were feeling snacky - we got the sourdough, Shrimp and crab risotto balls, and the beets. Everything was amazing, the beets being my favorite! I can not rave about the drinks enough, truly creative cocktails and mocktails. Can't believe I've lived in the heights for so long and I only tried this place for the first time yesterday!

Will L.

Yelp
I call it a hidden gem because this was my first time here and the front door was in a little alley area and I almost walked by. This place gets busy quick on a Sunday. I went just before noon for brunch. There is a nice bar to wait or eat at or be seated in the main room. Started of with a mimosa which was good, nothing to really make it standout, but not bad. Then the deviled eggs. Now I love deviled eggs, I order them everywhere I go if they're on the menu. These were cooked perfectly, a nice creamy consistency with the yolk. Also the herbs and espelette pepper made it the perfect one or two bites. Bonus with me is a chef that will use a piping bag for the filling. There were a lot of choices on the menu, but when the Challah French toast plate was delivered to the next table, my mind was made up. Super soft and perfectly soaked bread, not overpowered with cinnamon, bacon was crispy and eggs done properly. You can see why this is a popular dish in the menu. If you get a chance to go by, I highly suggest it. Also, Alice Blue is located in the Historic Heights area of Houston and the area is full of little shops you can walk into and explore after you eat.

Yelp
Decided to try Alice Blue for the first time as it was a street away from my apartment. Prior to arriving with my friend, I had called to see if they needed reservations and they said that walk in is okay for happy hour. They suggested that reservations are helpful for dinner. There's ample parking space infront of the restaurant and street parking as well. The restaurant is within a strip of boutique shops and coffee places along 19th street. We were welcomed and got seated right away. Our server, Phil, was so friendly, and he gave us recommendations. It was happy hour that time so we ordered two black currant margaritas, falafel, flautas and mac and cheese! The portions are quite small but three dishes is enough to share with two people. The food is soooooo delicious!!! Everything we ordered had an awesome taste! Especially the drinks!!! The ambience is so mid-century cozy and so clean! Phil was soooo friendly and very attentive! Would definitely rexommend this place and would definitely come back! The prices for happy hour is awesome too! Also, i was told that they change their menus frequently so it is good that there is variety!

Yelp
Located at the amazing location of the very happening / trendy 19th street in the Heights in Houston, Alice Blue continues where Canopy of yesteryears left off. I must admit I keep hitting them up for brunch and while the food is good the selection always made me want more. This past week I finally was there for lunch. I had a very hungry party with me, we ordered literally half the lunch menu and to our and restaurant's surprise we ate it all!!! The flautas were my choice they were delicious. We ordered tomato watermelon salad which was a delight on tastebuds. So summer, so tangy, so sweet, perfect! We also ordered artichoke salad and it vanished before I could get a sample so it must have been good. One of my guests ordered the flatbread and loved it. The other guest ordered smoked salmon and loved that too! We were there at an odd time like 3 pm, they didn't bat and eye and served us and loved us till we burst. I just love the atmosphere, the location and the people who obviously love working here. Expert tip: During busy times definitely make a reservation to get better seating.

Andrea D.

Yelp
The food is so delicious and fantastic presentation. While this is a family friendly place, they do not skip a beat in providing good quality dishes fantastic ingredients even to their youngest patron. The fish, THE DUCK BREAST, the pasta, the 1/2 CHICKEN to ALL their beverages are so delicious! And the service does not skip a beat. Thank you for treating our kids with funI have been various times since it's opening years ago and keep forgetting to post. The fact that it's this delicious still...is a testament. Ended the meal with a perfectly toasted coconut cream pie. Toasted!!!

Huyen C.

Yelp
Such a cute, hidden little spot in the heights. Went on a Monday for lunch, and was quickly seated. We both ordered the White Egg Omelet & the portion size is big! The omelet was wonderful, and the toast (not sure what kind, wheat?) was delish and toasted wonderfully. Loved the side potatoes & they actually gave a lot! Food came out hot, waiters/waitresses were attentive & it was a great time to catch up with an old friend. Noise was not loud at all!

Lydia N.

Yelp
Quiet, quaint spot. Lots of fresh and tasty options! Went for brunch and had a fried chicken salad. The chicken was piping hot and crispy. My friend had the risotto and enjoyed it. Our server was friendly. Overall I enjoyed my experience there. I am excited to go back for lunch or dinner.

Phebe C.

Yelp
Great food, great ambience and great staff! I had a Bloody Mary and Artichoke Salad with Shrimp-delicious! Cannot say enough good things about this place and our experience today for brunch. Thank you Brandon for taking good care of us. You have our vote!

Sofia K.

Yelp
The food is standard brunch fare. Nothing was mind blowing enough to return to this particular restaurant. Service was great. Given the day was so beautiful, it would've been nice to have an option of outdoor seating. Brunch is best outdoors.

Cassie X.

Yelp
I've been here twice and once was during restaurant week from which I ordered off the restaurant week menu. If I was grading off the regular menu, it would be 5/5 but the restaurant week dishes were a big disappointment so taking a star off for that. The short rib I got was not tender at all. This place though still has my favorite Mac and cheese ever. It's the perfect mix of creamy with some crunchiness.

Ari K.

Yelp
I ate here a few weeks ago, I just forgot to post a review. I've been to Alice Blue a few times as a Heights local, and the food here never fails to disappoint! This was my first time getting the red snapper - it was excellent. They split the salad for us, which was much appreciated.

Emily J.

Yelp
The food was good! All in all it was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure how it was going to be with my two girls (14 and 9) who have very different eating habits but both were able to find something to eat that they enjoyed.

Coby V.

Yelp
Had dinner here with some friends recently. Amazing service. Great food and ambience. Highly recommend.

J M.

Yelp
Consistent and great! We love going to AB and the friends that we have introduced to it love it too. Amazing cocktails, great wine list and an awesome menu!

Leslie R.

Yelp
Food and service is always great. The bar area is great for small, casual get togethers. Plenty of food and drink variety

Shannon T.

Yelp
Had dinner for 6 before a show at the Heights Theater. Service was attentive and food was excellent. Seemed like a great value: $300 for the 6 of us which included appetizers and drinks. The risotto balls were fine. The sourdough with butter was really good. Both my pear salad and roasted chicken dinner were excellent. My husband loved his pasta dish too. Will go again!

Melanie C.

Yelp
Our experience at AliceBlue was overall pretty good. We had the Deviled Eggs and the Sourdough bread with whipped butter. Additionally, we ordered the flautas and pecan crusted trout. All our dishes were pretty good. Would be happy if someone invited us out to Alice Blue again.

Jessica O.

Yelp
Had the most amazing salad, the pan seared artichoke salad! You can get it with any protein; I orderednit with the smoked salmon which was delicious. So so fresh, tasty and satisfying. Service and ambiance in the restaurant matched this delicious salad perfectly! Highly recommend

Avery P.

Yelp
Service was really knowledgeable and friendly. Happy hour options rocked. Martini was just as dirty as a girl could dream. Will be back again and again. Also, the hummus slaps. Full slaps.

Bridget R.

Yelp
Love this place and happy with service and food everytime! This round got the eggs benedict and their hollandaise sauce is ON POINT!! perfect amount of citrus, but had to ask for extra....send me those calories! I subbed the fruit for their mixed greens. The dressing and herbs on it are so fresh. I paired it with Carajillo and it was amazing, not to overpowering with the orange at all. YUM Friend got the Migas, but I was so engrossed in my dish I did not steal a bite. She devoured it all. For no parking lot I have never had an issue finding a place nearby. My only suggestion would be not to combine the 4 tables in the middle of the restaurant for 2 larger groups. It makes the walkway for all other patrons and staff cut off.

John D.

Yelp
Howdy Y'all!! My son had the Burger, he gave it a big thumbs up. I had the Fusilli Marinara. It was awesome. The Pine Apple Tart from the bar was refreshing. Adrian at the bar was a professional. The Ambiance was one last party. Goodbye Alice Blue!! Have a good day. TYJD

Annalisa P.

Yelp
I had lunch here with a friend. Made reservations on Resy for 2 pm. I didn't know what to expect with covid, spring breakers, and Cali-like weather. 19th street was busy, but I luckily found a parking spot near the entrance. It can be hard to miss with a tiny, lit sign. It's close to the Ashland St. light, I believe. I reserved for inside rather than outside since their patio is narrow and shaded like a small alley. My friend and I were seated at a nice, big booth. It was comfortable. The staff was friendly and got us water and menus right away. They checked on us several times and had great recommendations. My friend and I ordered a couple items to share throughout. We had dessert first, then appetizer. Lol. Aperol cocktail: Aperol, topo, orange. Tastes exactly like that. Chocolate croissant: The chocolate itself is nice and rich. Not too dark. The croissant had a good flavor. I think it would've been better served slightly warm. Flautas: The chicken flautas were deep fried. Yum. Be careful, though. It's so hot (temp wise), you could burn your tongue. The chicken filling was nice and tender, not dry. Loved the green sauce and salsa. The corn was ok. Would be better if they were more charred. The downside is they only give 3 small pieces for $10 since it's considered an app at lunch. Fried potatoes: I was still hungry from the flautas my friend and I shared, so I ordered potatoes.Delicious. They are kinda cubed with skin on and deep fried. Simply seasoned with salt and pepper and served with a side of ketchup. Caesar salad: Good portion. Wasn't drenched in dressing. Croutons are crushed throughout instead of cubed. We both asked for no extra anchovy on top. Personally, I can do without the anchovy, but if it's in the sauce, and I can't see it, I'm good. The menus on their website was different from in person. Masks are required except when seated. Staff wore masks. Restrooms are on the back left. Almost missed it till my friend redirected me. The sign was so small on the wall. Almost walked into the kitchen area with the open hall in the center. Whoops! Haha. I'd come back to try their dinner sometime.

Yelp
The most amazing dining experience on the most perfect day with the greatest waitress!! I purely came here by recommendation and didn't even know Alice Blue existed. Formerly, Shade, and now revamped and with a new Chef, they've curated the cutest hidden gem in the Heights neighborhood on 19th street. Just the experience of a side alley way door as their main entrance brings that New York vibe at this restaurant. Cozy, clean, and warm ambience. The restaurant has a bar area towards the street side view of 19th street, they offer outdoor patio dining, booths, as well as tables. The cool blue interior and warm natural lighting really creates the perfect balance. A great brunch spot for the weekend, and also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day. Came here for a girls lunch, and ordered half the brunch menu: -homemade quiche (crust made from scratch) -frittata -breakfast sandwich -pulled pork tostadas -ham+cheese croissant -bear claw -deviled eggs The deviled eggs were topped with pickled mustard seeds and they were so delish! If you like sour, I'd definitely recommend this! I'd like to RAVE about the amazing service we received though, Catherine was our server and deserves "Employee of the Month," seriously! She has what I'd like to call "Nunchi" in Korean culture. Attentive, alert, and kind! My friend brought her 2 year old son, and toddlers can be a handful but Catherine handled it so gracefully and offered water, plastic utensils, and even after my friends son threw up after almost choking on a gummy snack, she kept her composure and offered us cold and warm towels to clean up the mishap. Everything from start to finish was superb. The food was excellent and the service was excellent! We also appreciated the quietness we got to enjoy while talking and connecting over a warm meal. Even though it was lunch time on a Saturday, the restaurant wasn't filled to the brim With patrons and it allowed us to really be free and enjoy our time together in some peaceful and tranquil way, ironically. Nonetheless, we will definitely go back and ask for Catherine again! She was just simply the best!

Jackie C.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, good service, and great food. We had the shrimp and crab risotto balls, charred broccoli & crispy prosciutto, spice rub seared salmon, and pan seared lamb leg. The charred broccoli & crispy prosciutto is a must-try! Amazing flavor combination with the charred broccoli and underlying burrata and balsamic reduction. The spice rub seared salmon and pan seared lamb leg were both amazing as well. The warm spring white bean salad that comes with the pan seared lamb leg didn't sound too appealing at first but is one of the best things I ate, as well as the rosemary au jus which was so good I started eating it with a spoon even after the food was gone.

Ellyn T.

Yelp
Great relaxed vibe and service to match - not overbearing - quietly attentive. Fish was cooked perfect and had a cold avocado/cucumber soup - excellent.

Tyler H.

Yelp
It was an okay experience. Cute little spot in the heights. Came in for dinner with a group of friends, service was a little slow and the food was average at best. Ordered the Steak Frites, asking for it to be prepared medium but it was definitely over done. The meat was also on the chewy side -- but guess shouldn't expect a perfect steak from a non-steakhouse. The deviled eggs were great though. With so many options in the area, not sure I would come back here but who knows.

Karen Briggs G.

Yelp
Worst service ever. Manager completely checked out. 3 in the afternoon. No customers here. We arrived 40 minutes ago. Order was wrong. Waited another 15 minutes. No apologies. Eggs Benedict cancelled I'll go home and make a cheese sandwich. They did comp our meal.

Lalanica C.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday afternoon- wasn't crazy packed that we were able to come late to our reservation. Overall I'm leaning towards a 3.5 stars... Outdoor space is very tight in the "alley", but tables indoors are decently spaced out. Food was actually pretty good- even if I only got a salad...ha. Deviled eggs and flautas were good to start with, and so were the croissants. My one negative is that service was unusually slow- hoping it was just an off day of being understaffed. Also, is too much to want my Sangria served in a wine glass?!

Arnold G.

Yelp
We came here because it looked very nice inside and the reviews online said they are celiac friendly. We decided to have a late lunch here. The server wasn't helpful or knowledgeable at all about the gluten free options. We ordered two drinks that were extremely sweet and tasted like they use the cheapest alcohol they can get. Just terrible drinks. I ordered the burger which was basically just pure salt. She ordered the flautas which were said to be gluten free. She isn't feeling well today so we doubt the server was being honest. We are really confused as to how this place has good reviews. We will never come back. Maybe dinner is better? Cocktails are not it.

Sydney U.

Yelp
The best brunch food I have had in Houston!! The food was delicious and reasonably priced compared to other brunch spots in Houston. Great service, very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend starting with the deviled eggs and the Cajillo to drink. The French toast and eggs Benedict are to die for!!

Morgan F.

Yelp
So glad I found this cute spot!! Delicious brunch, the pastry assortment starter was amazing and I devoured the smoked salmon plate. They have espresso and a good selection of brunch cocktails/wine for whatever you're in the mood for. Cannot wait to come back!!

Jason Z.

Yelp
Really hyped based on the reviews and its location, but was very disappointed. Streetside parking is hard to come by but there are free surface lots across the street for parking. Came here for weekday lunch and many of the menu items mentioned here were not available because they were on the dinner menu. The lunch menu was very vanilla and uninspired. The only decent tasting dish here was the hummus spread and all the other entrees were literally something anyone could cook up at any vanilla diner. I ordered the burger. Again, something that IHOP could've almost done a better job with.. No fritters, no seafood etc was on the lunch menu or apparently available so it was a letdown. Service was pretty slow despite being empty and all in all, just disappointed with the experience.

Jack F.

Yelp
We go out to eat a lot and especially in the Heights which is our hood. Alice Blue is without a doubt the most underrated restaurant in the Heights. The food there is excellent, the place should be packed every night (but you can always get a table). Brunch is great (and a little cheaper). Dinner is a little more $$ but always excellent. I've never had a bad meal there. The burger there is amongst the best in town.

Trujillo F.

Yelp
At the time of COVID... the good: - they're still going strong despite COVID! - definitely one of my favorite spots - sarah, our server - summer fusilli - bucatini - rye-belious cocktail! - ceta, our server - fritata - blt avocado the not so good: - i'm speechless

Daniel D.

Yelp
The service was excellent. Ambiance is good. Went for brunch. Had the eggs Benedict which were pretty good and the potatoes that came with it were perfect. My friend ordered the deviled eggs and I tried one, they were a little salty for me. I would definitely go back to try some other options.

Yelp
10 out of 10 loved having brunch at Alice Blue it's been on my list of brunch places to try in Houston for quite sometime and I definitely was satisfied! My omelette with pesto and mushrooms was fantastic and I loved the way the hash browns were prepared! My friend order the eggs Benedict dish and enjoyed the meal very much. Service was friendly and excellent when I made the reservation on the phone the employee was so polite and accommodating when I requested a booth by the window. I loved the relaxed and cozy atmosphere too and parking in the area isn't to shabby! I will be back again to Alice Blue for brunch with more of my friends soon. :)

Yelp
Seemed like a nice place for brunch but food is just ok and was like they tried too hard and could be elevated some. Drinks were better and good. Service is a little slow but server was nice but overwhelmed at times and would forget what we asked for, like ketchup and drinks. This place does not live up to the hype it gets. Next. Oh well!

Yelp
Great lunch/brunch spot if you're wanting to grab something relatively quick and healthy. It's a sit-down but not too formal. The ambiance is good but better to sit towards the front of the restaurant for better natural light. The food itself was delicious. However, the wait staff was impatient and careless. I am dairy free and they didn't seem to care or know what I could order. When I asked if the pesto was dairy-free they said they didn't know. I would've really appreciated if they could have asked someone in management or grabbed the allergy menu. They also were clearing our plates when we were still eating. I would really like to give it another shot and I would recommend it. My DF order: egg white omelette with no cheese and no pesto.

Yelp
Yummy little brunch spot!! Tried it for the first time with my boyfriend & the waiters were so friendly, a man who I assume was the manager checked on us and overall food + service was awesome.

Yelp
Great food. Great ambiance. I would recommend to a friend. Located in the Heights Houston. Great restaurant for a date night.

Yelp
Love this place for lunch meetings! I've had a few good experiences here. Some of the food is really unique and others are just classics that taste great. Good service also plus the atmosphere is low key which is nice. Hidden gem.
