Where To Drink Margs That Give Back in Cincinnati | Eater

"Cincinnati’s hottest dance bar, Alice bills itself as ‘your friendly neighborhood paradox’ and indeed lives up to that moniker. Get your sweaty groove on with resident DJ Boywife’s Saturday night set in the cement block discotheque, cozy up to the cocktail bar for an Astral Thunder Cat Margarita, or take in the atmosphere on the outdoor courtyard. Alice has the quirky distinction of being home to several funky bathrooms (a definite must-see) and hosts a variety of events all year long." - Alex Frost

Super inclusive space and great staff. We had a fantastic night here. Crazy how elaborate all the bathrooms are. Can't wait to come back and listen to more music!

Had an awesome time at Alice. Cover was 5 dlls. The music was great and the drinks were really good. I’d recommend trying the cereal killer!

Attended an event here last weekend recommended by a friend. Despite it being hotter than hades, the vibes were 100% there. It draws a large crowd but there’s PLENTY of room inside and outside depending on your preference. Felt like the workers there were fantastic, and the drinks were just as lovely too! They have a nice fruity drink called Ceral Killer that I can’t recommend enough. A word of warning with the crowd it brings you may wanna get some earplugs with how loud some guests can get but that’s really any bar. Drove all the way from Pittsburgh to this event and will do it again for the next event. Great stuff!

Really fun place for drinks and dancing. Has a dance floor area, a bar area, a seating area, and an outdoor area that allow you to take a break from dancing or go somewhere we with the music quieter without leaving. The staff is really nice and friendly, the drinks are good (love the margarita), and the DJs make dancing all night a blast.

Great party place in OTR, would recommend this place for a chill and party vibe. The drinks are good. Have fun

I had an incredibly upsetting and disappointing experience at Alice tonight. Upon entering, I followed your policy and surrendered my pepper spray for safekeeping, trusting that it would be securely returned to me when I left. However, when I exited and asked for my pepper spray, I was told it wasn’t there after I watched the doorman hand what appeared to be my pepper spray to someone else as they were leaving. When I asked about it, staff dismissed my concerns, said there was no purple one (the color of mine), and offered me someone else’s pepper spray. I felt incredibly uncomfortable being forced to take something that wasn’t mine not knowing the expiration date, how full it was, or even if it worked properly but I wasn’t left with a real choice. This is unacceptable. Pepper spray is not a casual item, it’s a personal safety device that I trusted you to take care of. Thoughtlessly giving it away, and then trying to cover it up without accountability shows a serious disregard for guest safety and trust. Not only did this make me feel unsafe and disrespected, but now I also have to spend my own money to replace something that your staff lost. I’m extremely upset that I’m left paying for your mistake on top of the stress this caused. As much as I love this bar, I don’t think I’ll be back for a while. I hope you take this feedback seriously and implement better policies around handling personal safety items, because the way it’s being managed now is completely irresponsible.

One of thr best places in the city! Cocktails are good. Ambiance is great. Very inclusive and friendly staff! Major s/o to Sydne. Very knowledgeable and friendly! Made being here 100x more enjoyable.

Google
If they named this Alice because of The L Word, then I give it 5 stars for the brand of a gay bar. I feel like this bar has so much potential, but I went on Goth night and it was not the vibe for me! Loved how they had 2 DJ areas for diversity in music. This place was super busy! I enjoyed the pear cider ◡̈

Yelp
I'm deeply disappointed and disturbed by my recent experience at Alice. Our group, which included a close Indian friend, visited for what we thought would be a fun night. We ordered a very simple drink -- a "spaghet" (Miller High Life, Aperol, and sour mix), something easily prepared. One overweight black bartender begrudgingly made it once, then refused to make another without explanation. When we pressed politely for a reason, he simply said "cuz." Shockingly, we then witnessed the bartender refuse to serve our Indian friend altogether. This behavior felt blatantly discriminatory. Worse yet, when other members of our party tried to order, they were refused service because of their association with him. For a bar that loudly promotes values of inclusivity and acceptance, treating a guest this way based on race is absolutely unacceptable. I work directly with C-suite executives and hold an MBA -- I understand standards of professional conduct, customer service, and the serious consequences of discrimination. Alice Cincinnati should reflect seriously on the conduct of its staff and the environment it is creating. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who values dignity, fairness, or respect.

Yelp
Nice venue. Very welcoming and amazing staff with strong backgrounds in customer service and retail. The bartenders are most known for their flexibility and being able to work well with others.

Yelp
A cool and trendy bar! There are pleanty of places to chill with friends and talk which is really nice. They have outdoor seating, indoor seating, and even a private room seating. The dance floor is seperate which helps being able to hear when in the chill section. The drinks are a tad expensive for the amount of alcohol in them. Definitely recommend asking the bartenders to make their favorite drink that is not on the menu. Overall a neat bar !

Yelp
A very eclectic place with an upbeat vibe. There is plenty of Seating outside and inside . Parking available in a nearby garage on Sycamore about a block south or on Street by meter. Oh if you're curious about their signature cocktails, they have several offerings. The Pomelo G&T was a twist on the old G&T.. ... the Mexcal Mule is spicy. Interesting flavor... especially when I burp it back up. Fun place fun atmosphere and and a fun staff. Stop in to see Sydney!

Yelp
This place is so pleasing to all the senses! It reminds me a bit of House of Yes in Brooklyn, NY--especially the lighting. The space is great if you're looking to chat and have a great drink or if you're looking to party it up; you can also do that. I can't wait to go back and see what the shows/dance floor is like. Some people may be turned off to visit since it is on the sketchier end of the block but that does not phase me. Bartender is super friendly and service is quite speedy.

Yelp
Super cool space and the bartenders are really nice. I have driven by and not even realized it was an awesome bar. But once I went to a few events here I just loved it. Had inside and outside spaces.

Yelp
This place is a VIBE! Newly opened in otr and owned by the same owners of Somerset. Expect artsy walls, funkadelic themes and great drinks. There is plenty of seating at the bar, outside and an indoor/outdoor concept. Dance floor opens at 9pm. Our fave drinks were beet on the brat, smoke and mirrors made with mezcal, death of a clown and dead flowers. Death on a clown was so unique, will def order again. The bartenders are so helpful and efficient.

Yelp
Cool, trendy, fun spot if you are looking for vibes. Unique drink menu and I very much appreciate their funky techno and house music!

Yelp
Very cool and trendy space. A bit tricky to find- you'll worry you overshot or missed it but no, you're in the right place. The bar area is very cool and so is the second seating room but I'm gonna admit that nothing about the interior really sets it apart from a lot of the other bars in the area. I'm gonna suggest if you go and it's not too crowded- ask the bartender to mix you a drink that's not on the official menu. That's where you'll really see this spot shine.

Yelp
I love the vibe of the place cute, retro, but the drinks were not great. I ordered some type of spicy drink and usually even if it not good I can down a alcohol drink but I couldn't even finish it. I then asked for a lemon drop but not a shot but a drink I could sip on and it was weak. My friend ordered a green tea shot and it also was weak and not good. They don't know how to make drinks at all!!! I probably won't be back here. If three drinks are bad its only down hill from there and I don't want to keep wasting money.

Yelp
Not a bad spot for a drink or a shot, but while I was there I had the following thought: This place reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons entitled "Homer the Moe", where Moe's was turned into the hipster bar "m". Alice is colorful, for sure, but is it trying too hard to be "weird for the sake of weird", while at the same time not being all that weird at all? Stay tuned...

Yelp
Jon is great ! The best bartender there go to the bar and ask for a drink from him and tip !!!!!!!

Yelp
THIS IS A MUST VISIT FOR CINCINNATI! I just visited this bar, and was blown away. There is truly nothing close to this bar in the city, so I can see this being the new hot spot. It's a very trendy bar, with a great dance floor. The DJ was amazing, the lighting was superb, and the vibe can't be beat. On top of those great things, the prices were great! I ordered 9 drinks for our group, and it was only $67 with Tito's! I was even told that they are going to try to make one weekend a month LGBTQ+ night. So I was super happy to hear they are inclusive and open to all populations. If you are looking for a big city vibe (Chicago/Atlanta/LA) then grab your friends and some dancing shoes. This is your new spot. Cheers!

Yelp
Super cute new OTR spot! I'm a fan of Somerset, so learning about this sister bar meant I needed to pay a visit. It's not huge (it's OTR), but the colorful decor and open concept make it feel larger. Cocktails were good and on a lazy Sunday this is nice stop!

Yelp
Easily a new top 5 bar in Cinci. Trendy, lots of cool murals/art on the walls, indoor/outdoor concept plus a dance floor "club" room. By the same owners as Somerset - easiest way to describe is a mix of Somerset and Mecca + a dance floor. Cool outdoor space and main bar area. Dance room opens at 9 on weekends and has light projects on all walls. It's a loft-style room with high ceiling and the DJ up on the loft. Great vibes and LGBT friendly inclusive space. Great cocktails and people. Fun dance area. DJ seemed to still be figuring out the music but I'm sure that will get better with time. Drinks: Beet on the brat - refreshing, not too strong of beet Dinner party - could drink many of these Coffee shot- delicious. like an espresso martini but in a shot

Yelp
Such a fun place with so many different areas to vibe in. They have street patio, an outdoor patio, a lounge area where there's sometimes live music, a great bar area with delicioussss drinks (the Adios Motherfucker tastes like those blue kool aid burst drinks and the fig daddy was so refreshing) and, of course, the best part is the disco area where trippy projections will guide you through your industrial disco experience. There is also food in the back of the disco- today I had some Jollof rice, plantains, and lamb shishkabob- I'm not sure if the food vendor rotates regularly. Today they also had an Afrobeats brunch so the music was immaculate as were all the lovely other guests and staff- definitely the cool community spot to be at, can't wait to bring more friends next time.

Yelp
We had a ball!!! Cocktails awesome awesome vibe! Going back to dance the night away soon! I love the graphic designs projected on the walls!

Yelp
The Decor is amazing and the dance floor is unique and fun. Drinks are reasonably priced as well. Bathroom line is bad. It leads out into the dance floor which is just odd. Its 6-7 unisex bathrooms so the line gets pretty long and it makes me hesitant to stay very long. That and the music is... Disappointing to say the least. It's a mix of classic throwbacks and then just EDM type of beats that leads everyone vibing one moment and then just standing their in confusion the next. This place has potential to be THE SPOT in OTR but the bathroom line and music might keep me from making this a regular visit.

Yelp
Love the drip..... 100% such a great vibe great dance floor with a stage u can dance on way more fun then drinkery. Never gets old and is very chill.

Yelp
Unique bar very much like Somerset but not as good. The drink prices were the best I've seen in OTR, so that was a plus! It's very busy and has an upscale vibe, seemed to be late 20s-mid 30s crowd. The music was not good in my opinion, the reason I didn't get a second round. Great place to bring all your girlfriends to dance the night away, just be open minded about the music. I think I would prefer to return during the day to appreciate the cool space.

Yelp
Terrible. The music was terrible. Trying to order a drink at the bar was terrible. The unique cocktails were weird. The place was dirty. We disliked this place so much we left before finishing 1 drink each.

Yelp
What a fun a cool place to bring to Cincy! The line is usually a little long to get drinks but the dance floor is so cool and decorations are so cool! Art and videos are displayed on the wall as of the dance floor and the decorations are something you have to see in person. Very cool vibes if you want to check it out and try something different!

Yelp
A favorite spot for dancing on the weekend (Friday and Saturday). The space is a vibe with a projection mapping on the dance floor and interesting art throughout the space.

Yelp
Happened upon this place on a way to our dinner reservation and it was a pleasant surprise. They had only been open a week and the bar staff was super attentive. The interior was unique for the city and nothing like I've seen before - the designer is a genius clearly. We did not go on a weekend but can only imagine this place being packed and a lot of fun. This is a sister bar to somerset with a much more clubby vibe. There is a rear room that will feature wall projections and a DJ that will probably be great with the late night crowd. We didn't pay a cover and don't believe they will charge them in the future but that could change. I imagine if this place is full it could get pretty hot and stuffy because it didn't seem very ventilated. All in all, a positive experience and nice addition to cincy!

Yelp
As an aging yet still able bodied 35-year old with a penchant for dancing I could not contain my excitement to check out the new hot spot for the younger generation sitting right in the most prime real estate of OTR. To say that I was disappointed by the results would be an understatement. It's almost tragic. Cool concept, great space, and the potential for a cool spot is high but the execution is so poor. The music is terrible. The playlist seemed to be lazy hodge podge of the most vanilla, light urban hits from the around a decade to two decades ago. They were playing shit you might hear at a late 30-year-old Midwestern white woman's wedding reception. There's nothing modern, remotely challenging or even a little ratchet about anything they played and thus the dancing that I witnessed was quite reflective of that as well. Just missing any sort of edge or pulse... Furthermore, the bathroom situation is also quite atrocious with small wack stalls and long lines.

Yelp
Vibe is chill, Music is garbage. Need more dancin music. figure it out. Xoxo gossip girl UPDATE: I was in Saturday from 10-2 am

Jennifer R.

Yelp
not inclusive!! !!! I asked them to play the number one artists in the world and they decided to play study music instead. I was the only one dancing surrounded by white people unfortunately. I did not feel welcomed. I asked for bad bunny and they said no. how could you!! however the drink I got was strong AF!! I saw 2 poc beware!!

Steven W.

Yelp
God DERN. This place rocks I was just straight chillin at a table until I went up to get a drink. Someone should have warned me I would need 2 pairs of underwear when I laid my eyes on the dankest dance floor I've seen in awhile. This place rocks and bevs were a great price. Tip of the cap to you Alice

Shanda E.

Yelp
Its ok. I wasn't impressed with the D.J. The music didn't transition well. So there were moments where people were just standing around waiting for the music to pick up again and keep dancing. Amateur at best. Great bar staff though.

April S.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere but can be very busy on the weekends so beware might take a few min to get a drink because of the people.

Jordan K.

Yelp
Potential to be one of my favorite spots in the area- especially for dancing (and not feeling like you're back in college!!!). I think there are still some bumps to sort out from opening recently like 15-20 min wait at bar for drinks and overflowing bathroom line into main bar area. Love the vibe & dance music and excited to come back.

Alexis L.

Yelp
Bartenders are so kind. Great place with people that felt intentionally inclusive. Drinks were great.
