First of all, it's an absolutely gorgeous restaurant south facing and west facing windows in this town...You got to be kiddin me! Service was impeccable. The food came out hot, fast and tasty 😋. Strong recommendation for the beef and broccoli. The beef was the most tender meat I've tasted. Needless to say, we will be back.

Google
Nice looking place, but service and food are a big disappointment. Stopped in on my way home for take-out. I was greeted friendly enough until I told them that. The server's attitude changed from friendly to dismissive as she motioned me to the "take-out" area, I suppose, and dropped a menu in front of me. I placed my order and waited. About 10 or 15 minutes later, when my order was ready, she came and told me the total. I asked her for the itemized receipt; she said I would get it when I paid for my order. When she dropped the check in front of me, only the credit card receipt was present. I went to the back and asked her for the itemized receipt. She just said she didn't have one and put a menu on the table and told me I could add it up! That's the kind of customer service we can expect these days. Wow! To add insult to injury, the vegetable egg roll I ordered was so greasy that oil literally oozed out when I bit into it. Totally inedible. The Hunan Rock Cod tasted day-old and like it had been frozen, the thawed, deep-fried, and a smattering of sauce added on top. It was dry and not tasty. So, we live and learn. I will not be back there, ever!

Super super * Salty* Was feel so hungry before I came. When I eat a bite, OMG. I better back to Bay Area any Chinese restaurant, (any) also better than this restaurant.

Google
I’ve only ever ordered takeout and I can say it’s the best beef fried rice I’ve had recently. Not greasy and very flavorful. The won ton soup was good but left more to be desired, however I ate it side by side with the rice and it was pure flavor perfection! This place is fried rice heaven and they’re always very nice and helpful during pickup/checkout

The food is excellent! The flavor of the ingredients really shine through. The restaurant itself is spotless and spacious. As soon as you sit down, they give you some really nice tea along with ice cold water. No need to choose, and no charge for tea. That feels pretty rare in SF. We had the sweet and sour pork, Alice's chow mein, and (forgot to take a picture) sizzling rice soup. Just fantastic. I can't speak highly enough of the dishes we had. Next time, I'm looking forward to trying other menu items, like the Hunan shrimp and hot and sour soup.

Went to this restaurant for dinner. Was met with a very rude server, who was extremely impatient. Our chowmein and schezuan scallops were vert tasteless. The vegetables in both the dishes were hardly cooked.

Okay, Alice’s is definitely a place for non-Chinese eaters. Step inside and it’s clear that the menu (sweet & sour, mango beef), decor and customer base are geared towards non Asians, which is fine for the neighborhood. We both ordered the lunch special which came with a strange vegetable clear broth soup that was not bad. I ordered the spicy eggplant and my partner the kung Pao chicken. My dish was decent although the Szechuan sauce needed more vinegar and bean paste. My partners KP chicken was very bland and not at all Kung Pao. The service was efficient, kind and quick. They gave us both a pot of tea and water. I see that they have a regular clientele but for me, I would not return.

Google
My favorite restaurant! As a vegetarian I cannot be happier about this place. I bring all my friends (literally) and everyone loves it! They have just amazing options for everybody and the staff is just the best!!! I highly recommend the GARLIC EGGPLANT, ORANGE MEATLESS CHICKEN, VEGGIE MUSHU and BROCCOLI W/ GARLIC SAUCE. (ask not spicy if you don’t like spicy haha)! Love you guys thanks for keeping the business open! I cannot wait to move back to SF to be closer to this place!

Yelp
Best Chinese food I have ever eaten and I eat a lot of Chinese food. Great ambiance!

Yelp
Still love the space. Reasonably priced. Fast but rather rushed and cold service. 2nd time here, hence 3 stars. Could have bee what we ordered. Beef Chow fun, flavorless. Coconut Curry Prawns, plenty of prawns, but very little sauce, so somewhat dry. Chinese Chicken salad - THE WORST SALAD I have ever had. Flavorless, no dressing, not even close to what a standard CCS should be. Shredded chicken on top, disgusting. Potstickers, always a winner. Brought the check, never asked if we wanted dessert. Not sure I will be returning after 2 very different experiences. Very reasonably priced lunch meals though.

Yelp
This is our absolute favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant, and we've been going there for over 25 years. My wife gets the WonTon Soup, which she recommends, and I highly recommend the KungPao, full of lots of fresh veggies and fresh peppers. The staff is very friendly and efficient and the food makes great take out too! Please go and support this great neighborhood restaurant!

Mark T.

Yelp
Always the tastiest, freshest Chinese food--a cravings satisfier. Welcoming and friendly staff. Nice neighborhood vibe, bight and cheerful; no curated, bespoke attitude. Generous portions and fair prices. Love this place.

Lawrence G.

Yelp
Alice's has been my go to Chinese restaurant for years. I'd do anything to insure they survive operating under covid restrictions. I've consistently ordered takeout once a week to do my part. As always the food is fresh, well prepared, tasty, and more than generous portions. Make sure to leave a gratuity since these folks were not working for a while after SIP put all of us on lockdiwn

Yelp
Just really good fresh Chinese food. Favorites are the string beans, walnut prawns and orange chicken. Oh and the dumplings - the dumplings are the best here. Don't loved the noodles but not a huge noodle person anyhow.

Yelp
I'll dare to say it's one of the best places in SF for fresh delicious Chinese food. Alice's is beautifully decorated with lots of art, & excellent service. My go to and addictions are the salt & pepper stir fried green beans!! Omg! The toasted garlic crispy green beans are so good and plentiful Handmade Potstickers huge! plump, and yummy! And the large Won Ton Soup is good for the soul It feeds 3, but honestly I can eat the whole thing. The price is on point. The portions are generous. And yes it's amazing!! Everything is farmers fresh, not salty, and handmade. Now, I'm still new to this place. I've tried about 7 dishes and all of them were fantastic! (Stir fried green beans, potstickers, mu shu pork, mushroom chicken, Alice's chowmein, shrimp won ton soup, & spicy eggplant) I can't wait to continue to taste the remaining dishes on their menu. Great job Alice!!

Yelp
It's been YEARS since I've been here way before the pandemic, and they have changed the way they cooked the food. i wasn't happy the way two of the dishes tasted :( The only thing i really loved was the lemon chicken it was really good, and they used white meat for the lemon chicken. :) The chow fun was two sweet, and so was the broccoli and beef. The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the bathroom was clean and for both gender. They had really nice fresh flowers and plants around the restaurant. If you are around the Valley area, they have 3 other Chinese restaurants to try, but if you want to try this one out for yourself, you might like the food here? it's on the corner of Sanchez Street. Thanks for reading this short food review. ~Lizzie ~ P.S. I give it a four-star review for the food and a five-star for the service. The waiter was very nice! :)

Yelp
Decent spot for Chinese food. We ordered takeout from here the other day. Had the fried rice, orange beef and broccoli with garlic sauce. The fried rice was really great and came with a fair amount of proteins. The orange beef was tasty, but the pieces are really tiny and feels like eating mostly fried batter. Also, it got kind of hard the next day after reheating. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Would definitely order from here again.

Yelp
The BEST service. Super kind and knowledgeable when it came to recommendations. The food was delicious! Ordered the veggie fried rice with the sweet and sour chicken. Generous portions!

Yelp
I just went again we got chow mein, Alices spicy eggplant, and broccoli cashews. All decent solid 3.5/5. Service was a 3/5 and so was the ambiance. Hot in thise window seats.

Yelp
There are a lot of different types of Chinese restaurants in San Francisco, and each type has its own place and serves a purpose. Alice's Restaurant is the perfect example of White People Chinese food that I absolutely love. Nothing super authentic, but something very comforting, for a certain audience, and time in the world. My husband and I really felt like this cuisine one night, and so glad we found it in this sleepy Noe Valley neighborhood. I can't remember everything we ordered, but do remember the Hot & Sour soup, Alice's Chow Mein, and sesame beef. All were great dishes!!! Very solid, loved the thick-noodle chow mein, that they don't always have at Cantonese style Chinese restaurants. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant too - really cool windows, almost floor to ceiling, just beautiful. The whole restaurant was very clean too. Service was very nice, spoke perfect English. They even plated the tables with forks. At the end of the meal, I really loved that they gave us the check with fortune cookies. Also, these weren't some weird processed ones that were made in China, but rather, fresh, local ones from Chinatown. WOW. I asked the waiter too where they got it from, and he told me "somewhere in Chinatown" - then BROUGHT OUT the box that they came in, to show me the exact place. Now that is service!!!! Obviously people like my Chinese grandparents wouldn't approve of, but as a 3rd generation ABC (American Born Chinese), I thought this was a wonderful restaurant, can't wait to return.

Yelp
This place is wonderful!! We are getting married at St. Paul's Church so we made reservations for our bridal party to have dinner after wedding rehearsals. I called a few days in advanced since the party was about 15 but in the end we only needed it for 11 people. They made the reservation an easy process. We have never hosted such a large dinner gathering so I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do but Alice made it easy. We ordered everything when we got there and we were seated immediately even though we came 30 minutes early. They were very accommodating and service was friendly. They kept our waters filled and made sure everyone was enjoying the food. All the food from the appetizers to the entrees were delicious! Everyone in our party was impressed and we all left full bellied! My fiancé doesn't eat Chinese food much but he even said it was worth to come back again since he enjoyed it so much! I've eaten here once before from an old boss of mine who raved about this place so I knew what I was in for. Great place to take guests! The food was flavorful and on point - it's a great place to bring guests and do a celebration. The food was snatched up so quickly so I wasn't able to get a good picture of each dish. We order Fried Crab Rangoon and Drums of Heaven. Everyone including myself were already blown away just from the apps. The Fried Rangoon tasted like it was homemade, none like I've had before. The Drums of Heaven are fried chicken - not a huge fan of fried chicken so I didn't expect much - but these were sooooo good!! I could eat this alone. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Just great! We also had Won Ton soup for the table. It was well seasoned and flavorful. Other places would be tooo salty but again this place tasted like freshly homemade won tons with a delicate perfect broth. Really must order too! We ordered Sesame Chicken, Beef with Brocolli, Portobello Beef, Coconut Curry Prawns, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. All were flavorful and had a unique twist to it! Can't recommend this place enough - from their hospitality to their food, the ease of reserving to ordering for a big group, they're top notch!

Yelp
Alice's Restaurant is an Americanized Chinese restaurant good for guests who may not be able to handle more authentic Chinese fare. I wanted to poo poo it but it's actually pretty good. Solid and delicious sweet and sour soup. Solid tasty spicy eggplant. The walnut shrimp was good. I'm not a fan of the lemon chicken's texture. Servers aren't the most tactful but I don't trust a Chinese restaurant with good customer service. The ruder the waiters, the better the food. The ambiance is nicer than your typical hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Good place for a date or catch up with friends.

Brian S.

Yelp
I'm sorry, but this place deserves at least 4 stars. I've been coming here for 15 years, and it NEVER disappoints. Their veggies are always fresh and crisp, which is my favorite part. And the classics are excellent - generals chicken, mushu, potstickers. Love the avocado egg rolls, I've never even seen those in another restaurant before. I live too far away to go regularly now, but my wife and I are always looking for an excuse to go to Noe just so we can get Alice's! Also, the reviews complaining about rude servers are cracking me up. Prob should avoid most other SF Chinese places if you want the servers to hold your hand the whole time.

Yelp
The food was good. But the lady that took my order was so rude,no matters whatsoever.

Yelp
Not only is the food delicious, fresh and doesn't leave you feeling heavy and sleepy after, the staff and owners are always so pleasant and nice, I leave feeling like I was just handed leftovers by dear family members!

Yelp
They have ruined an establishment. These people still think its covid times. If i go out and want to spend my hard earned money for an experience of a cozy friendly place dont come here. Theirs no service. Its so impersonal now and i literally hate it. Like i get it no one wants to work here since tips are ruined from your business model but if your short on staff you could at least offer service in the immediate diner. Servers and bartenders used to make good money here it used to be such a nice place. This order at the front and pick up your own food is not it. Your ruining why people like to go out and eat. Youve ruined the experience. I hope the owner reads this.

Yelp
We got takeout from Alice's a few weeks ago. The food was fine, high 3 stars. I particularly liked the eggplant dish (3.5 stars)! However, the beef chow fun was lackluster (2.5 stars), the rice noodles too thin & sticking to each other, the beef slices not very hearty and a bit chewy.

Yelp
Alice's is a great (Americanized) casual Chinese spot in Noe Valley. If you're looking for an affordable, quick sit down or takeout Chinese restaurant, this is great one option. -- Food -- Alice's has a pretty standard menu for a casual Chinese restaurant (General Tso's, Orange Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, crab rangoons, etc), with the addition of some house specials and meatless (chicken-substitute) options. The appetizer taster (crab rangoons, egg rolls, pot stickers, chicken wings, and pork rinds) was a great way to try a bunch of tasty fried options. The orange chicken was tasty, crispy and fresh. The general tso's meatless chicken was pretty interesting to try, it seemed like a homemade chicken alternative and I really liked it, still with the same crispy/sweet coating used on the traditional chicken. -- Atmosphere -- Very casual, medium sized (roughly 30 seats) restaurant with some glass art on display. -- Service -- Service was decent. The restaurant has a huge amount of traffic from food delivery apps. When I visited, there were about 10 people waiting on delivery orders and it was hard to flag someone down to ask for a table (waited around 15 minutes before being spoken to). Once seated though, the service was very fast and the waiters were attentive and polite. -- Drinks -- Complementary tea and water, with a small beer/wine menu. -- Stars -- Food: 3/3 Stars Service: 1/2 Stars Total: 4/5 Stars

Yelp
This is a must for anyone who likes cars or motorcycles. It is not uncommon to see very rare and expensive cars or motorcycles here. The scenery is beautiful because of the redwood trees and the vehicles that are everywhere. I love bringing people here for the first time. I can't think of another restaurant that has such an atmosphere. It is very relaxing and calming. There are a lot of interesting people as well. Now about the food. The food isn't really the reason that people come here. It is a very simple menu. The food is kind of okay. However, you have to realize that people are here because there isn't another place like this for miles. You enjoy the scenery. Not necessarily the food. The building is cozy and the employees are very nice and that adds to the experience.

Yelp
Found in a sleepy neighborhood far from the noise of the city resides a perfect Chinese culinary experience. Everything was perfect, I don't think I'll be going anywhere else to get my fix. From the service down the presentation. Make sure to try the hot n sour soup and avocado egg rolls!

Yelp
I came to dine in at Alices with my friends from a social club that i am part of called Shupin Social Club. The service was absolutely respectful and Kind. The food was absolutely delicious Gordon Ramsay would be proud of how dedicated The owners are in the kitchen and for the restaraunt and how delicious every dish was. My Friends and I had an awesome experience and delightful dinner at Alice's. We all loved their sweet and sour chicken made with creative kumquat rinds and flavorful sauce. We also loved their beef chow fun and vegetable chow Fun we loved the authentic spices that were put into the dishes it really shows that the wok was powerful because I can really taste the delicious BBQ taste of the Wok. We also loved The Green beans with Garlic and tofu it was delicious. We loved the chicken fried rice. We also loved the Beef and vegetable noodles. We also loved the vegetable spring rolls. We will definitely be coming back. The food was super Authentic and very delicious. I love the kind and respectful service. The dinner was delightful and I love the generous portion they give us even with inflation. Thankyou! Alices!

Yelp
Alice has better taste than Eric's and more portions for the price. I used to dine at Eric's but lately it's not the same. My friends told me try Alice so I did "YES tastier favorable cleaner and foods is hot" for your liking. Eric's used to give more portions not lately. I don't like to pay more for less portions. Alice it's perfect. I'm glad I listen to them. All my friends love "Alice" hope they don't change. Thank you ALICE!

Yelp
Last night's takeout order was some of the worst food that I have ever tasted. It was so bad, that my wife and I just threw it down the garbage disposal; and I felt bad for the disposal having to deal with such trash. The vegetarian egg rolls were literally drenched and dripping grease! The vegetarian Mu-Shu, Beef Chow Fun and Ma Po Bean Curd with Pork were all surprisingly tasteless, greasy, and filled with what looked and tasted like old, nearly rotten vegetables. In fact, the green beans in the Hoisun String Beans actually had little black spots all over them, like you see in aged, rotting beans. I have had food from Alice's for over a decade and it has generally been quite good. BUT, something has definitely changed and for the worse. This experience was so bad that I wonder whether they are using poor quality food in order to save money. Whatever the problem, I cannot see myself ever eating their food again. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving such garbage to people.

Yelp
This restaurant put our two year old daughter's life in danger. We ordered sizzling rice soup which has no description of what it contains via Door Dash so we added a comment that our daughter has a shellfish allergy. When it arrived we assumed it was safe and served our daughter some broth and a few pieces of chicken that were in the soup. I called the restaurant to ask what else is in the soup and the person that said it usually contains chicken, scallops, and shrimp but they took out the shrimp. Only then did we study the soup and found it has shrimp. Our daughter is severely allergic to shrimp. He lied to me again and while I was on the phone told him I was staring at the shrimp in the soup. He said I will tell the owner, but I insisted the owner call me. I doubt they will. We will never order from this place again. Their irresponsibility is unbelievable.

Yelp
I came to Alice's restaurant on a whim one Sunday afternoon. It was busy yet it felt calm inside. I ordered the broccoli and beef with a side of rice. I noticed other people's tables had really good looking food so I would definitely come back to try out some other plates. The staff was polite. The food was very good and didn't take forever to come out despite the place being busy.

Yelp
This is our go-to Chinese takeout place; you know the one, where you get the same order of dishes every time because you've honed it to perfection. Nothing hits the spot like the orange chicken (meatless chicken in my case, but just as good), sitting atop a bed of rice glazed with the eggplant sauce, with veggies like the string beans and the broccoli on the side. The food is well cooked: fried and saucy in the dishes you want that in, crispy and sweet in others, and hearty and fresh in the rest. It's just so tasty, and definitely hits the spot after a long day doing nothing but typing away at a computer. The service and takeout process is super-humanly quick and efficient, they're good at customizations, and the meal is definitely a bang for your buck considering you get at least two days of delicious leftovers after the initial feast. I love Alice's! It's also owned by the same people as Eric's down the street, with the exact same menu... Alice's food just seems to hit harder. No explanation for it, just a happy feeling in my tummy. Cheers.

Lia B.

Yelp
What a lovely experience at Alice's Restaurant! I brought a party of 20 people and they were very accommodating and friendly. They even made sure that certain veggie dishes were made vegan for one of our guests! The service was great. They were nice enough to serve us a cake that we brought ourselves. I love the decor and nice ambiance of this place. Some of our favorite dishes were the Salt and Pepper Tofu, Lemon Chicken, Basil Chicken, and Mixed Mushroom with Snow Peas. They are also extremely reasonably priced! I will definitely come back to Alice's for our next large (or small) party event.
google avatar

Hilarie F.

Yelp
Eaten there many times over decades. Receent meal was decidedly subpar. Vegetables were not fresh. Meat--I'm not even sure it was real. Sauce was goo. Even the tea was weak. What happened?
google avatar

Dom T.

Yelp
The food is pretty good! The drinks are loaded. Lots of dog-friendly outdoor seating. Parking can be tough. The line to order is long and you wait in the sun. They have the capability to enable mobile ordering but do not for some reason.

Allison N.

Yelp
I been coming here for years, I stopped coming because of the rude server like 2-3 years ago. I would order to go instead. Now he's not here but I just got told my tip wasn't sufficient on a table of 2 and kids I rounded up the check from 51 to 60 she expected more tip because my kids were loud. I "bothered them by asking for boosters twice". Always giving attitude to certain market. I got told my tip will be added automatically next time? Educate this people and pay them a living wage.
google avatar

George K.

Yelp
Their potstickers are second only to Red Jade. Among the best in the city! Their lunch specials are wonderful in the soups I have had their are terrific. They weren't that successful with their chow fun. The pasta was very mealy, but everything else was great.
google avatar

Yelp
Not just a "Chinese Food" restaurant! Had food delivered.....insanely fast! Good prices, fair for SF Bay Area and very good customer service!

Cesar M.

Yelp
First of all we get are receipt the total was $95 dollars the lady followed us outside after we had already left and said we had to pay a $15 dollar service fee yet we payed in cash outrageous I'll never come back to this place .

Noy D.

Yelp
The food was disgusting, the waiter is super rude. He didn't want to tell about the dishes that been served. They dishes are soggy, disgusting, smells bad. That really matches the vibe. Worst place. Really bad. Not recommended. I feel bad and my stomach hurts.

Lewis R.

Yelp
This restaurant seems very cute inside, I'd say it would be good to go with a friend. However, the workers weren't exactly nice and the food I got wasn't very good. I got takeout and the flavor was basically like dumping hoisin sauce onto some beef and throwing in broccoli and that's about it. Can't really recommend.

Yelp
Amazing service. A wonderful environment that makes you feel like family. Great food. everything prepared to perfection. the crab rangoons are to die for!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite goto restaurant in San Francisco. Nice little neighborhood spot where they always provide good food and service. Almost everyone gets the potstickers and orange chicken - and for good reason. Those are the best options I've found and always consistent.

Yelp
I had my order delivered. It was delicious. I've been going to Alice's for over 20 years.

Yelp
This restaurant had great food but the service was awful ! One of the waiters seemed upset about something prior taking our order a party of 6. Too bad because the food is exceptionally delicious. I will never return. Please be kind to your customers.

Yelp
First time having this as I just moved to the area. To-go only when we ordered due to COVID tier the county was in. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken. I was taken aback when I was told it was ala carte so I ordered some steamed rice with it. Very quick service and was ready in about 15 minutes. General Tso's Chicken - 4/5 - very good sauce on it. I asked for it to be extra crispy and extra spicy. Chicken had some good crispiness to it , but there was little to no heat on the General. Steamed Rice - 2/5 - pretty dry and flavorless. Wasn't impressed at all. Price: I think it was about 16 dollars which is a little steep for Chinese that's fast casual. I will give it another try with one of their lunch specials.Overall thought it was solid, but unspectacular. Wish the rice was better and they would include it with entree.

Sylvia R.

Yelp
Food is always great! Friendly service and ambiance is pleasant surrounded by art and orchids.

Yelp
Bright light with all of the windows. We were seated right away. Hot tea came first. Every dish was delicious. We had plenty leftover after eating our fill. I will definitely return.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Alice's restaurant this past Friday. We liked the ambiance and it was a clean environment. The food was fabulous! We ordered Pot Stickers which were perfectly made with a delicious sauce. The Salmon dish was so amazing. It was such a tasty experience. The Salmon was cooked perfectly with amazing spices. The Garlic Eggplant dish with shrimp and chicken was perfection. The spices were wonderful and the shrimp and chicken was cooked perfectly, along with the garlic Eggplant and peppers. A feast for the mouth! The rice and tea added to the dishes. Don't hesitate in checking Alice's out!

Yelp
This is our go-to spot for take out. Alice's chow mein is an essential!! We also really enjoy the crab meat rangoon, pot stickers, kung pow chicken, hot and sour soup, and chicken with vegetables. The portion sizes make for fantastic leftovers that are still delicious the next day.
