I typically focus more on used bookstores, but Alienated Majesty is one of the few exceptions. An amazingly diverse and unique selection that will keep you entertained and educated for years. The staff are also so friendly and knowledgeable about their inventory, they'll comment positively on each of your picks. Plus, it's a great place to find out about some of the best local events.

Best bookstore in Austin. I’ve picked up a staff pick from the shelf that was my favorite book I’ve read all year. Another time, the staff asked me what I liked and picked out 5-6 titles that they thought I’d enjoy. One of my favorite spots in town.

This place is an indie bookstore that will make an average person question their reading comprehension abilities. It has books and zines I’d never imagine be written about topics I’ve never considered may have a book about it. It’s pretty cool. Would recommend, vibes immaculate. You’ll find books here that you’ll probably find no where else in the entire state of Texas. It seems to be a safe space for the weirdos, freaks and geeks of society. A place where those who don’t conform to societal norms can find a book about their niche way of non-conforming. They host cool events too.

Great independent bookstore focusing on lesser sold titles. It has fun displays and events, nice art to compliment the attractive book covers, and several cozy places to sit. Fortunately for UT students this place is in walking distance of the campus. It also has several restaurants and bars nearby. It shares a small parking lot with a couple other businesses.

First time coming to the bookstore. Walked in & smelled like Marijuana. CBD shop next door. The books were different. Not my typical bookstore. Saw some interesting books. My favorite one was a phsadeluc cover & the inside just had pictures no words. Very different vibe...

The man working was awesome, I had purchased a book previously from him. Not a factor of this review. Not sure if the other worker was having a bad day but I did not appreciate the condescending way I was spoken to. I was going to come back to repurchase a book but I will go to another independent book store. My book was lost to a house fire and was wondering if there was any way to receive a discount, but had extremely low expectations and was totally fine with re-purchasing at a later time. The worker said that if I wanted free books I should go to a public library. I was not rude or demanding when I asked this, and the store was basically empty. Probably won’t be returning

This is an amazing, independent book store where the punk vibe and literary taste intersect. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It has one of the best Spanish collections I have come across.

Great selection, helpful staff, and a lot of great events - when I went they were having their "I scream social", which is part feminist book club and open mic part ice cream social with free ice cream, including with vegan options!

Yelp
Coolest bookstore in town. Love this place and they host live music in the evenings sometimes. This is just the kind of place we need in that special old part of town... the parking lot brought back good memories of the old Vulcan Video, Oat Willie's, Conan's pizza.... It was a fun adventure and you'll definitely find some very interesting books.
