Alila Anji

"Newest for Alila in 2016. All villas and suites. In the province of Zhejiang, Anji County is well known for its 60,000 hectares of bamboo groves, home to over 40 different species of bamboo. It has been designated a pilot county for ecological and green building construction. It is also where the Oscar-winning movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was filmed."

We've stayed here twice - nice family getaway from Shanghai. The resort is beautiful, right on top of a lake. Views are stunning and I love walking around the lake and getting "lost" in the tea fields.||The suites are huge and designed nicely, especially the bathrooms. The build out quality is 5 star but I wouldn't call it as luxurious as Park Hyatt Ningbo but luxurious enough. ||The outdoor terrace is stunning and a great place to while away an afternoon. ||They treat Globalist well with upgrades and free breakfast. Dinner is also good (there's a local restaurant a few minute drive away that we recommend for a more local experience). ||I highly recommend this property for 2 nights, maximum 3 nights unless you love staying on property for a long time. It's really in the middle of nowhere so longer than 3 nights might get a little long. The paths along the lake are nice but not super long so you can't hike and hike for hours. ||This is a winning property and we will go back. I wish Hyatt would open more Alilas and PH resorts in China ||||

Our family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children) stayed at Alila Anji for 2 nights in its luxurious Hill View Villa. The resort is a comfortable 2 hour drive from downtown Hangzhou. We made transfer arrangements directly through the hotel. ||||Don’t let the drive to the resort deter you from staying there. The views from the resort is magnificent. The air is fresh and we never ran out of things to do. The rooms and facilities are top notch, boasting a swimming pool, gym, kids club and a walking trail. They even grow their own vegetables fresh I. Their own farm. ||||What really sets the resort apart is it’s service level. Thank you Mr Widagdo, Timothy, Kenny and the other staff who went out of their way to take care of our every need. You’ve made our stay at Alila Anji the highlight of our family vacation in China.

We drove from Changzhou to the hotel for about three hours. Admittedly it's a fairly long drive and if you don't own or rent a car it would be challenging: public transport is basically non-existent and cab service (I presume) would be expensive.||Yet, if you manage to get a car, this hotel is such a great place for a weekend getaway or an extended family vacation. Rooms are large and equipped with plenty of amenities. The main building also has lots of fun activities available. ||One highlight was our morning breakfast. We were the first two in the restaurant since we woke up early to take some sunrise pictures. Xiao Hong and Zeng Da Jie were extremely friendly and helpful. The chef de cuisine, Amos, was great; he asked for our opinion on the fried dumpling (which was awesome btw).

Rooms are filthy and infused with smoke smell (no non smoking room). They look nice in pictures but do not live up to the expectations... indoor pool is nice, gym not so much.||Nice view of the "lake" but resort lost one hour away from anything so stuck in the property which is painful when everything is so dirty. ||Communication is very limited at the hotel. I did not enjoy the experience at all.||for the price, you have much better options and service

Very relaxing getaway from the city to reset and recharge. Tucked deep in the mountains, it’s well worth the scenic drive to get there. Stayed in a lake view villa which allows pets with a little bowl and bed setup. Breathtakingly peaceful views and great paths to explore a bit of nature or a morning run. Delicious, local food, great service and beautiful sunrises not to be missed!

Given the secluded location of the hotel, Alila Anji provided a number of in-house activities which included Balinese/Thai style massages. At first we were a bit skeptical given it was not easy to book (the staff told us there was a shortage of masseuses on site each day) but once we managed to book and got into our session we were blown away with the masseuses’ skills and patience. Jenny and Lisa were both very caring and their techniques were top notch. They explained to us carefully about each steps and body areas they were going to work on. The session was concluded with some herbal tea and fruits. Overall it was an enjoyable and relaxing session, thanks again Jenny and Lisa!

Very nice resort! Will come back again with family next time! The staffs are very passionate on serving the guests and introducing the hotels. Although the weather was rainy, we feel very warm in Alila.

This was a perfect holiday hideaway - very peaceful - no through traffic or cars and stunning views from all the rooms. Staff were friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The location was glorious but it was a pity that there was no access to the Lake.
