Honestly, I tried to give this place a fair shot. I stopped in between appointments at St. Francis. I ordered a gyro combo. The gyro was simple but the meat was tender and flavorful. Ultimately, the fries were fresh and tasty, but when I asked for ketchup, the guy at the register straight up drizzled it all over the fries (customers after me all seemed to know better and asked for sauces on the side). He offered to make new ones but that seemed wasteful. Mostly I was annoyed that the cold ketchup was now all over my fries, making them messy to eat. The gyro had a healthy amount of tzatziki, but without a fork or enough napkins, my hands were covered in sauces. They do have a sink for public use, but there's no paper towels. I understand that food and packaging aren't cheap, but keeping all of the condiments behind the counter for the guy to distribute as he sees fit makes me uncomfortable. What if I'm taking it to go and I don't want my fries to be all soggy when I get home? When I went up to ask for hot sauce, he gestured toward my food. I asked for a side instead. He seemed confused even tho he didn't bat an eye at the customers after me who asked for the same thing. Plus I find it hard to believe that cost is the reason they are skimping like this when he so quickly offered to replace the fries he covered in ketchup. Why not trust me to use the ketchup myself, or provide individually packaged sauces? I'm all for minimizing waste, but there's ways to do that that don't make the customer feel like they are imposing. And why not at least provide a napkin dispenser? Keep it up by the register so customers feel less inclined to take too many. Make it so my last bite isn't immediately followed by the feeling of, ugh what a mess. End on a high note, y'know? But I'm giving it four stars because the food is decent, and I don't like the idea of dragging down their overall rating over things that are easily fixable.
