Please note: This review is for those who want to eat here after 2:00 PM on an easygoing Saturday. In short, neither my friends nor I have ever experienced a series of dishes where the confliction of mediocrity and excellence graced our palates. Maybe it was an off-day for the restaurant, or maybe they don't maintain quality all-day (ain't that ironic, darling?). Either or, we were incredibly underwhelmed.
With each of our varying dietary needs, we each had different dishes: House Granola, the All Day Breakfast, Steak 'N Eggs, a Fried Chicken Biscuit, and Lentil Fritters. First off, most dishes featured a side of kale salad. This salad tasted like untouched leftovers your coworkers would've brought to a cookout. Yet, they were the only items left for the folks who came later (i.e. us). In short, this double-blanched kale salad tasted... stale. Lifeless. And confused. We love kale, but the kale did not love us back.
Yet, the sole saving grace was the House Granola: A phenomenal dish with a flavorful melody that melts in your mouth.
The All Day Breakfast: Subpar. A request for a scrambled egg transformed into a fried egg that was mercilessly hacked to pieces after solidifying. No, that is not what a scrambled egg is. Furthermore, the salad was sadly soggy.
The Steak 'N Eggs: Decent. Tough on some ends, but we knew what we were expecting.
The Fried Chicken Biscuit: Underwhelmingly bland and tough. It was as if it was left in the frier for too long. It, coincidentally, was like your middle sibling being left behind during a family vacation. Furthermore, it wasn't disclosed that it was sandwiched between a jalapeño cheddar biscuit. AND the side of tater tots were COLD!
And lastly the Lentil Fritters: They were 'aight.'
In all, the service showed that we were not forgotten, but the food (kitchen) said otherwise. Let me restate: The service was solid, the folks are friendly, and the environment was aesthetically pleasing. But if you, dear reader, hiked for 6 hours straight, just know that this spot may not the oasis that can ease the woes of an empty stomach.
