Came for the Mighty Boosh reference, stayed for the shrimp chips. I am so glad I found this place on a walk - it flies under the radar as they’re still waiting for their new sign to be installed, but for now I’ll relish in the fact that it’s a hidden gem.
Two words: HAWAIIAN FOOD. Well, three; HAWAIIAN FOOD + WINE. I came here two days in a row, first for the wine, unmatched hospitality, shrimp chips, and addictive hot sauce, and the second to bring my husband to eat the Loco Moco and drink Vietnamese coffee.
Guys, this place is really something. They have a fantastic wine selection, offering 30% off wines you take home. They also have some adorable aprons that the chef makes, delicious hot sauce, and top tier chocolates and other pantry goods.
The Loco Moco was drenched in a gravy reminiscent of Salisbury steak, atop of which was ground wagyu, the perfect over-easy egg, and fresh green onions seasoned with furikake. The garlic rice was perfect, and we were lucky to try all three of their in-house made hot sauces with the meal.
They had sold out of the shrimp chips, but if you can get them while they have them, they are addictive (see video for ultimate crunch).
The coffee is also nice; they serve their cold brews with the crunchy, smashed ice (Sonic ice) that can serve as a great stress relief when chomped on.
In short, GO HERE. They’re currently (3 Feb. 2022) only open until 3:00 pm but hope to expand to dinner soon. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
