Just a phenomenal spot to eat. Employees always have a smile on their face, and bring a sense of joy to the atmosphere. The food is cooked to perfection (cheese pull with every bite), fries are seasoned well, and drink selections are ideal. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for a phenomenal sandwich at a reasonable price.

As soon as I stepped in this restaurant I was greeted with a smile from Aretina. I let her know that it was my first time in All Square and she so graciously rattled off their top two best sellers and one more just in case I wasn’t super sold on either of the other two. I ordered Johnny Tsunami and The Jerk and may I say, “Holy Moly.” I love food and I eat a lot, but if I may, I don’t know if I’ve ever been blown away that much by food. I’m writing on All Square because I had to pick a non-profit for my speech class and my research led me to All Square so I’ve been writing my speech and inferred that I had to go try the gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and I gotta say WOW. It’s hard to even explain that this small grilled cheese sandwich shop, which stands for noble causes and provides jobs, therapy, and a whole heap of other things, has such an insane grilled cheese. I love grilled cheese, I grew up eating it, but none will compare to this grilled cheese experience I just had. Don’t even get me started on the fries. Seasoned fries with heat that invited the perfect amount of sweating involved. There was a tinge of sweetness I detected that was absolutely delightful. Thank you All Square for the amazing experience. In the great words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “I’ll be back.”

Food was very, very tasty, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The team at All Square were kind and welcoming, making my experience even better. I got the Jalapeño Popper, Mushroom and Swiss, tomato soup, and the fries. All items were well-seasoned and the portions were filling. The grilled cheese melted in my mouth! Glad to have this option in our neighborhood!!

All Square is honestly amazing. From vibes to service, this restaurant is something special. Derek was incredibly helpful and kind. He even filled up our water bottles. My partner ordered the Pesto grilled cheese, I had the Johnny Tsunami, and we shared the Apple Brie. All three were great, I personally loved the Pesto and will order it the next time I’m here. The french fries are hands down some of the best I’ve had. Pro tip: ask for a side of their square sauce (thanks Derek!), you won’t regret it. Overall amazing experience and amazing food. Will definitely be coming back and bringing all my people along.

The staff were all super friendly and helpful, especially Layla. I got a vegan grilled cheese with fries and salad. Everything was delicious! The bread was toasted perfectly and the vegan cheese melted. Their fry seasoning is so good and the salad dressing has great flavor. A lot of salads can be bland but I loved this one. Great meal and chill spot!

I was greeted and attended to in a way that made my experience pleasing. The food was phenomenal. The Jonny tsunami was filled with enjoyable complementary flavors of pepper jack, tender chicken cubes, crispy pieces of bacon bits and a lovely housemade ranch. The spiced bread was toasted to perfection. A small portion of salad with a sweet vinagarette dressing plus a couple pickles all complimenting the great sandwiche. The tomato soup had a bit of spicy flavoring. Derick checked in assuring all was satisfactory.

This place is awesome. Not only did they have an amazingly tasty grilled cheese sandwich made quickly for me while i was on the go, and not only were they super friendly and great service, but i love the philosophy they operate with. Community sustainability, social and racial justice, and just being good to people. I think we can all agree these are noble ideals that more businesses should embrace. I’ll be back, and sometimes with my kids, they’d love it too. And i want them to learn such philosophies as they grow up. Be safe and kind, everyone.

Tried the Jerk sandwich, it was pretty good! I’d skip the jam next time though since it made it a bit sweeter than I prefer, but that’s just personal preference. The Jonny Tsunami was okay. Loved the fries and tomato soup though, super tasty and went perfectly with the grilled cheeses. Service was great, and I really appreciate their mission. Worth checking out!

If you're searching for a restaurant bursting with flavor while supporting a meaningful cause, All Square is the perfect spot. This cozy eatery in South Minneapolis offers incredible grilled cheese sandwiches, all while championing a mission to help former inmates rebuild their lives. By providing employment opportunities, All Square gives them a fresh start and a second chance. The restaurant is small and intimate, with plenty of off-street parking. However, it's a great place to share with others, so carpooling is encouraged. I highly recommend All Square for its warm atmosphere and delicious grilled cheeses. And the serves are so nice and polite.

Haven't been to their restaurant but was lucky enough to find their food truck at the neighborhood brewery. So fun; great service, with a smile and a whopping delicious grilled cheese jerk chicken sandwich. Just the right amount of heat and extra tasty. A must try; next time I'll visit the restaurant. A little gem in the busy food scene if Minneapolis. Excellent food, customer service and mission, friendly ambiance. I am OBSESSED with the Johnny Tsunami and Jerk chicken sandwiches and don't get me started on the fries! The lemonade is also excellent and I'm even impressed with the salad. I hate pickles and I genuinely enjoyed their pickles!

Craft grilled cheese for a good cause- how can you say no? I love the premise behind this nonprofit and the food is pretty good. You get fun preset topping options for grilled cheese . The French fries are crispy, and the tomato basil soup hits the spot. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I went on a nice summer day and got to take advantage of the beautiful patio but there are some indoor seating options as well. Lots of free street parking available in the neighborhood as well.

Loved, loved, loved my Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese! I went here with a couple friends who were visiting. The weather was perfect, so we took our dog and sat out on the patio. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and the decor was nice. Love their mission! Employment is a hurdle for many people who are formerly incarcerated. I love that they specifically employ formerly incarcerated individuals and focus on restorative justice. The fellowship program is beneficial not only to those in the program, but also to the community as a whole. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Go check it out if you haven't already!

Service and ambiance are good. The brie apple sandwich seemed to have sugar on it, which made it taste yucky in my opinion. Could not choke it down.

Socially conscious grilled cheese - who knew there was such a thing? And who knew it could be so delish and so rewarding too? We just happened upon this place while visiting the Twin Cities and were so happy we did. We felt privileged to be able to share in their mission.

Come grab a delicious sandwich with an incredible mission! The All Square team seeks to offer programs that heal the harms of the justice system. They offer fellowships for previously incarcerated folks to work and gain new skills there, plus so many other programs and ideas. And it's a COOL spot to go - they've got fun neon lights and the decor is a vibe! The menu is simple, which I love. A handful of meat sandwiches, some vegetarian sandwiches, a kids grilled cheese, an option to get gluten-free bread for a few bucks more, and some sides: fries, tomato soup, and cookies. The sandwiches aren't cheap at around $12 a piece, but it goes to a great cause! And this spot is woman-owned. Support local, and support great causes!

I was not expecting to be as blown away by this grilled cheese place as I was. We were greeted immediately when we walked through the door by the person working the register. She had such a great attitude and was very helpful with showing us what was good on the menu (since it was our first time there). The music in this place was so fun and upbeat, which definitely added the the vibe of the meal. The sandwich comes with a salad which was an arugula and spinach base with a vinaigrette. This was definitely the best grilled cheese I have ever had in my life!! Also, we didn't realize that this places profit goes towards fighting mass incarceration, which makes you feel even better about eating a great meal for an even better cause! There isn't too much seating in the place, but there is an option to order ahead or take the sandwich on the go :)

I would eat here again! I've been in this neighborhood over a year and had not tried. Heard good things about the grilled cheese sandwich. I enjoyed the sandwich with Granny Smith apples. It was surprisingly delicious. I was very impressed with the fries as well. The staff were kind and helpful. Also appreciate. how this establishment gives back to the community and gives formally incarcerated folks a second chance.

They are back open! The food was ready on time. I walked in and was greeted and handed my food. It took less than a minute to pick up the food. I enjoyed my Havana which is their take on a Cuban sandwich. You get a little bit of salad as part of the purchase. The only issue we had was they put pepperoni in a pizza grilled cheese where one of our vegetarian family members had ordered olives and not pepperoni so some trading was necessary. Maybe ordering sites should have a "I'm a vegetarian" option to warn restaurants. Super fast and friendly pick up with easy ordering. One of the family said they have the good kind of fries. Check it out!

This place is just so awesome. The staff is super friendly and I love the concept of "craft" grilled cheese. We went with a classic grilled cheese with gazpacho and the apple and brie grilled cheese. We visited during Covid-19, and felt pretty safe with the safety measures in place. While we waited for our food, we were able to read all of the informative graphics they have hanging on their wall, related to the organization's mission of empowering formerly incarcerated individuals. They had a particularly interesting graph about how investing in such programs benefits our society as a whole (see pictures). I also loved that the sandwiches were actually really light and not super greasy/indulgent. I left feeling satisfied without feeling weight down and heavy like I usually do with restaurant grilled cheeses.

Social justice and grilled cheese, an amazing combo that I wholeheartedly support! We popped in here on a Sunday afternoon and found that the tiny seating area in the front was pretty packed. And while we were able to get a table, not to worry, lady giving us "hurry up and eat" eyes, there is a whole other seating section for you and your group. Let a girl eat her grilled chilled in peace! That said... I ordered the Back 2 Bac, which is a grilled bacon, avocado, cheddar sandwich with sriracha ranch. Holy smokes, I want it all the time! So good. The fries were crisp and had just the right amount of seasoning. The only snafu is that my salad didn't have any dressing on it and my friend's had too much. Great staff and atmosphere. Will definitely return to support this great establishment!

I LOVEEEE All Square food, so good. I've drove past it many times before deciding to actually try and I am so happy I did. The food is 10/10 every time, the staff are so lovely and nice all the time and they send out an amazing message. The neon lights in the room are so lovely as well. I will forever recommend All Square to anyone!!!

Food: Grilled Cheeses galore! This place has about 10 different gourmet grilled cheeses served on no frills paper lined trays with a little green salad. There's an option to add French fries or tomato soup, both of which are delicious! On my latest trip, we tried the Basil Pesto, Jerk Chicken and Four Cheese sandwiches. All were amazing, but honestly the tomato soup is what really blew us away. They also have beer and wine offerings as well. Venue: Clean, open and airy restaurant with some standard tables and a little bar seating area. They also have gender neutral bathrooms. All in all, great food, great cause, great restaurant.

Delicious grilled cheese sandwiches served with a side of supporting a noble cause is something everyone can get behind. Others on Yelp (and national outlets like the New York Times) have poured on the praise for All Square, so I won't rehash that, suffice it to say I fully support their mission. While grilled cheese might not be at the top of the list when it comes to dining out for me, All Square does make a mighty fine one. I have tried about a handful of them so far - sitting at the top of the list for me is the Havana (their riff on a Cubano sandwich) and the Jalapeno Popper. All sandwiches comes with a small salad and you can add on battered fries as well (which actually travel pretty well for takeout). Ordering is easy, prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly and again, you'd be hard-pressed to find a restaurant doing more to try to support its local community.

All of the employees at All Square are ex-convicts. In today's America even if you only spent a short time in prison, it often ends up being a life sentence. Nobody will hire you and nobody will rent to you. Bravo to All Square for giving second chances. On to the food, just OK. I got the basil pesto for seven bucks plus fries for two plus a soda for another two. The sandwiches are kind of small. Kind of feel like you could get something similar at a high school cafeteria. It was tasty enough. Just nothing mind blowing. I know one of the previous reviewers here had issues with the service. Kind of got here at an off hour today, but found the staff to be prompt and friendly. Minor quibble - I asked for a Diet Coke and got a Sprite. No big whoop. Check em out if you are in the area! I know I will be giving them a second chance.

All Square's mission is what motivated me to attend one of their soft opening events. The restaurant is nestled into an intimate and neighborly looking area. The location itself is small but has a large amount of sidewalk space that they could have a lot of patio seating in the future during warm seasons. The kitchen looks super small and the folks cooking/serving had to make it work in small quarters but the product came out well. They will need to tweek some things like create an assembly line approach to preparation and maybe create a number serving system so people don't have to yell your name when the order is ready. Other than that I enjoyed my jerk chicken grilled cheese. I asked what sauce they used for the jerk chicken and once I saw that they had the Walkerswood sauce I knew the flavor would at least be right. My Jerk Chicken grilled cheese was quite yummy with the side of fries I got. I asked for ketchup but they didn't have any. Instead, they had a choice of two sauces, I chose the chipotle based one and actually loved it so much I used it on my sandwich. I like this place and wish them luck!

Perfect little lunch spot that you can feel great about getting! I tried the jalapeño popper and jerk chicken sandwiches - both were DIVINE. I loved the spice of the jerk chicken that was immediately met with the sweet tang of the guava jam. I know, it sounds weird, but trust me...it is GOOD. The jalapeño popper was a nice addition too, giving just enough creamy heat to the melted cheese. I also really enjoyed that they give you a little baby salad to go along with your sandwich, free of charge! I will definitely be back.

Its a good spot for tasty Grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheeses are interesting, but the flavors have been Minnesota-fied. Who wants jerseys or pibil without chili? That said, even with the limited menu, its all well done good bread, meat, etc.

All Square is absolutely amazing and I can't wait to go back! From the moment you walk in the door your greeted with friendly staff and a delicious aroma of fried bread and cheese. Every single sandwich looked amazing and I'm sad we could only try 3. We had the basil (which they make in house), apple and Brie, and a special they were having with sausage and cabbage. Every bite was soooo good. Also make sure you get the fries and some tomato soup. The fries are so crispy and perfectly seasoned. Now the timing wasn't perfect. My sister got her grilled cheese and was finished eating by the time I got mine, but we shared so it was ok. I was taking a sandwich to go and they offered to wait to make it until we were ready to leave so it would be fresh. It's a small space with only a few tables and some bar seating, but if you have to wait it's definitely worth it. I can't wait to go back because I need to try the dessert grilled cheese.

Fantastic lunch spot after checking out Minnehaha Falls. This was a local place recommended by Yelp and so we glad we stopped on by! I'm usually not a fan of grilled cheese but this place was a game-changer. The menu offers a more creative spin on grilled cheese. We ordered 3 different kinds to share and all the flavors were unique for each one. Basil Pesto- classic but had the perfect taste of extra basil on a bed of melted mozz and provolone. Floyd's (personal fav)- melted mozz & provolone, capers, basil, garlic, and diced kalamata olives. Back 2 BAC- Bacon, Avocado, Cheddar, covered with sriracha ranch on turkey, lettuce and tomato. They cut the sandwiches into 4's so it's great to share a piece with your buddies. The cherry on top was the canned coffee they had. I usually prefer fresh but they tasted pure and amazing. Didn't know about their amazing social justice mission but it's refreshing to see a community that focuses on this. Thumbs up for the food and cause!

Loved everything about this place. The most underrated restaurant in the Twin Cities. Quaint and homey atmosphere. Friendly staff. I bought a couple of T-shirts. The team work was amazing. The concept of this kind of place is so amazing. We need more places like this. It is beautiful inside and out.

Went here for dinner one evening and expected "the unexpected". The music inside was SO LOUD as to be distracting, even disturbing. Ordering at the counter went fine, and then we sat ourselves and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited for food to finally be delivered. The "unexpected" was that the cheese sandwiches were simply underwhelming and kind of unpleasant to eat while being blasted with excessively loud and disturbing music.

You probably have heard of the concept. They're a restaurant that hires those who have been incarcerated and/or affected by the criminal justice system. Yes, that is all stellar, but your obvious question of, "but is the food good?", is why I'm writing this review. You should have already visited and I'm angry at myself that I have not eaten here more often. It's that good. We ordered the Jerk and the normal 4-cheese sandwiches, both ordered fries, ordered each soup of Tomato and Chicken Tortilla, and a pair of sodas. For around $30 that may feel like a lot, but what I didn't know is that you get a free little side salad situation. For a really good date lunch, that you also feel good about supporting, I don't understand why we haven't been there more often. Jerk: best jerk sandwich I've had in Minnesota. Normally, jerk sandwiches are a chicken breast with jerk sauce on it, then random accompaniments. This though. This isn't the dryest part of the bird that Kowalski lovers wish to rave about. The chicken is shredded, and you can tell it's been well spiced for a number of hours. It's slightly sweet in some bites with the guava jam, but it isn't a lazy pineapple piece on there that your "southern" family member says is how you do it. My mouth felt the slow spice, and I loved it. I ate everything around it and had my final 1/4 of sandwich to close out my meal. My wife's 4-cheese, she had this to say. "It was good, and I highly recommend the tomato soup with it." I tried it and it was like two atoms smashing together make fusion power. It's fine with one, sure, but when together, it's Magical Christmas Land in your mouth. You want that all year. Fries were crispy and spiced. Remember curly fries as a child at the Uptown Arbys? (RIP) That wonderful mix of crust, potato, and flavor? These fries are that, except you're an adult and you have self-respect to not eat at Arbys anymore. Salad comes free with the sandwich and had a balsamic dressing with fresh farmers market looking greens. Great way to clear a palate, very smart move. Tortilla soup was good, but at the point, it was extra. We didn't need the extra food. Comfort food is in Rome, when it be, you get all things. The meal is gourmet, the bread and how it's fried is fantastic and we will be returning with friends who are attorneys that sit on socially conscious boards. They'll love this place. It makes me curious why this isn't franchised across the state and country. It's such a simple concept, but with nonprofit help as they do, this could be made anywhere as it is obviously a need everywhere.

How I label this place: a little 'cheap date' spot with amazing sammiches with a good cause behind it! If you don't know about All Square's mission, check out the video on their website. But on to the goods: on our first visit the wife had the Hawaiian and I had the jerk chicken. Both were really flavorful sandwiches at solid price points. The bread was good (mine could've been a tad crispier, but I also like nearly burnt bacon, so take this with a grain of salt), and the flavor combos on both sammies were balanced really well without any being overwhelming. The special jam with the jerk was very interesting. Overall it was a solid maiden voyage for us a All Square. Staff was super friendly, they have a couple beers on tap and serve wine, too, and the prices were also spot on! The outdoor seating will be great when it's warm. This is a perfect little gem on Minnehaha. We'll be back!

Finally got to try the jerk chicken grilled cheese from All Square the food was good, but the concept of the restaurant is even better! From their website - Different from most recidivism efforts, All Square is shaped by a team of people who have personal prison experience and criminal procedure expertise. We believe the contours of re-entry programs must be shaped by those who understand its pragmatic and historic roots. *the guava jam addition to the sandwich is INCREDIBLE

So I have to say that I hate having to give this place one star because the establishment was created for a good cause. This was the reason we went there. I fully believe in supporting local businesses, especially those that positively impact the Community of Color. Well, we arrived around 12:30 and waited only a few minutes to order our food. I got lemonade, fries, and a jalapeno popper grilled cheese. My friend ordered the basil pesto sandwich and a salad. This was the highlight of our experience here. We sat at our table and waited for our food. We'd also asked for water, which finally came after at least six requests for this. I'd also had to ask more than once for my lemonade. My friend's sandwich came out without the salad. So, we asked for a fork. By the way, her number was AFTER mine, so we were both surprised that she got her sandwich before I. More than 30 minutes later, I still had not received my food, and my friend still didn't have a fork. I finally got up to ask what was going on, which was happening with many patrons. One man got very angry because he'd been waiting for some time and his children were hungry. He ended up getting a refund. A girl brought my sandwich to the table while I was in line and I told her that my friend still didn't have a fork. We finally got some water, at this point. My friend's sandwich was ice cold, of course, because she wanted to wait for my food to come before she started eating. We were not impressed by our meal. Needless to say, we were beyond disappointed. I've been to various restaurant opening weekends before and have never experienced anything like this, ever. They had one person running the food to the tables, and this poor man was obviously overwhelmed because patrons kept stopping him to ask for things that someone else should have brought out to us. I will have to think long and hard about returning here. I hope, in the meantime, that they get their act together. It has been years since I was angry in a restaurant. YEARS. For those commenting that I ought to have given greater latitude for the clusterf*ck that I experienced, re-read that I've been to other restaurant openings without these horrible results. While it's alright for you be glad for your friends' and families' businesses, it's unethical for you attempt to skew reality and to invalidate the experiences of others. Should they be fortunate enough for me to return, we'll see if they deserve a review with higher marks. One of the great things about Yelp is that reviews are snapshots in time, where people capture their experiences at the moment. Each star is earned, and businesses have the opportunity to bask and also to improve upon the services that they provide. I take writing reviews seriously, and take no pleasure in giving low marks. My hope, when writing reviews, is that they are useful to both present and future patrons and to the businesses in question.

Mine was melted brie, sliced almonds, prosciutto, a la New Orlean's "Charcuterie" style plate. Absolutely delicious!!! Hubs got the wild rice soup. Great vibe and packed house! Worth the trip whatever your looking for... Awesome place.

We stayed at an AirBNB in the area, and our host recommended this place to us. I'm really glad we tried it out. The Jerk was phenomenal. If you're hesitant because you don't LOVE grilled cheese, be aware that this is just a very good jerk chicken sandwich that has cheese on it. I personally don't LOVE grilled cheese, but when I dipped the Four Cheese in their tomato basil soup, I was sold. That's a cosmic pairing that no one can resist, and All Square does a fine version. The kitchen is totally open, and the preparation was quick. Service was friendly and great! They had a booster seat, kids books, and a child's grilled cheese for my friend's daughter. We had a lovely time, and I hope to return next time that I'm in Minneapolis.

What a nice place to get some comfort food on a cold day! Prices are very reasonable, even with add-ons. My wife had the 4 Cheese with fries added (worth $2 extra). It was a very good classic grilled cheese. I had the Jerk Chicken grilled cheese which had great flavors (guava jam!) and a nice spicy kick. I added a cup of Wild Rice Soup that was good to offset the spiciness of the jerk. Also worth the extra $2. Service was good, and as noted by others, the mission is a good one. Will definitely come back.

All Square is perfect for a light lunch with friends. Every sandwich on the menu is unique and delicious. There's not one I don't like. I ordered the Basil Pesto and loved it. Don't be afraid of the Apple Brie Pecan. It's not too sweet and the apples give it great flavor. It's all outdoor seating right now. You go in to order and they bring the food out. It's a small, shaded front patio. Wouldn't work great for a larger group.

I've lived in this area for years, but still hadn't stopped and tried this place out, even though I have intended on it. A friend suggested it for lunch, and I'm happy he did. I was feeling greedy (common theme with me), so I ordered the Jerk Chicken sandwich, the Pibil sandwich, and an order of fries. The sandwiches were amazing! The jerk was the best of the two, but neither disappointed me! And the fries are the perfect mix of a harder fried exterior, and soft tasty interior! My first trip was last week, but I'm headed back for lunch today!

Their grilled cheese was the best I've ever had, and wasn't greasy and overly buttery like most other restaurants. Amazing variety to choose from for people of all dietary preferences. I personally went with the jerk chicken and have no regrets. Great zing and flavor from the chicken and savory jam. Can't have grilled cheese without tomato soup so I ordered that as well and it was the perfect creamy and tangy warm-up for an oddly cool September day. The story behind their restaurants and the causes they support will bring me back here time and time again. Incredible work they are doing for people in the community.

Tasty grilled cheese sandwiches that seem like good quality ingredients, though they feel a little small for the price. Excellent crispy fries with salty mixture that doesn't go overboard but keeps you coming back for more. Fairly quick and convenient for takeout.

Amazing spot! If you want dope af grilled cheese hit this place up immediately. Went with the fam and we tried a few of their items; all of them were fire. I went with the jerk chicken grilled cheese; yoooooo you need to get this! Perfectly seasoned chicken and they throw some pineapple jam on it to add a hint of sweet, it's unreal. Also tried the classic 4 cheese which was great. And then also got the punch a crunch; absolute fire. Hot Fritos in your sandwich?! Helllllll yea. Also tried their tomato soup, soooo good. And all in for like $8-9 bucks, so worth it. Will def be going back!
