Sadly, this restaurant was a complete disappointment. In a city with amazing sandwich shops, this is clearly not one of them.
There were two main problems with the sandwiches. The first was that the bread was extremely tough and hard to eat…nat all what one would think an Italian focaccia style bread would be. I don’t know if it was because the dough was overworked, or if the bread was just old, but either way the bread was completely unenjoyable.
The second problem is that the spreads they use are very potent. This is not in itself a problem, but it becomes a problem when it is not applied evenly across the sandwich. There were large globes in certain areas and none whatsoever in others. I’m sure if there was a thin layer across the entire sandwich. It would’ve been much more enjoyable, but the way it was presented on both sandwiches made the flavor way too strong in certain areas. For a restaurant that has so many positive reviews. I was really expecting better. When you pay over $45 for two sandwiches, you have an expectation that they will be edible and enjoyable. These two were not. Unfortunately, we took our order to go and did not find the problem until we got back to the hotel. Lesson learned, we will not be back. This review is specifically for the lLberty Street location.
