I have been waiting months for All'Antico Vinaio to open! They were originally going to open around November 2023 but that didn't happen. Instead, they opened at the end of January 2024 and they had a crazy crowd at opening! All'Antico Vinaio started in Florence and has stores in Florence, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, and now, Las Vegas. They actually have more stores opening up later too!
They opened on a Friday so I didn't go right at opening but we did go the night of for dinner. Aside from their first day, we've tried them again two other times. There was a line each time that we've gone but we were lucky since every time we've gone, the line stayed inside the establishment. Sometimes, the line will go out the door and down the street. Aside from their regular menu, they also have specials! The signs for the specials will be placed around the counter.
So far, we've been able to try:
Ferdy Special - truffle salame, ferdi wild Italian cheese, truffle honey. I love the sweet and salty element of this. The salame can get a bit too salty at certain points so it might have needed more honey to balance it out. But the truffle smell was fantastic!
The King Special - culatello, parmigiano cream, truffle cream, arugula. This was our favorite by far. The flavors were super balanced -- not too salty or heavy. The last time I went, they only had enough meat for two sandwiches so this special may not always be there.
La Paradiso - mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream, pistachio. I got this just to try the straciatella and the pistachio cream. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of this. It was very light in flavor and I couldn't really taste the pistachio in the sandwich.
La Summer - prosciutto toscano, mozzarella, tomato, basil. My husband got this sandwich and I thought it was really good. It was well balanced. The tomato and basil gave it a fresh element to it and it balances out the saltiness of the prosciutto.
So far, I've enjoyed their sandwiches -- some more than others. The prices are a tad high but when you think about the quality of ingredients and how you don't have to go to Florence to try them, it's worth the price. They tend to range from $12-25 per sandwich. The specials are typically the ones that are in the $20-25 range. But they are big enough to share! You can also ask them to cut it half for you while they are making it :)
One thing I've noticed is the inconsistency of their Tuscan schiacciata bread. During the first night, parts of it were really dry and cracker like. However, the second and third time we went, the bread was perfect. I also noticed that it depended on what part of the bread you got. If you got the middle, it would be perfect but if you got the ends, there is risk of crispier edges. They are either accidentally baking the bread too much or they are still trying to get a hang of the oven temperatures. So keep that in mind while you are getting your sandwich.
Overall, definitely recommend. Plus there is plenty of areas that you can sit and enjoy your sandwich since it's at the Uncommons!
