D.C. Hotel Bars Want to Be Better | Eater DC

"Inside the Eaton I discovered Allegory, a speakeasy where veteran bartenders mix adventurous cocktails such as the Tyranny—an inventive blend of anejo tequila, arrack, Aperol, and absinthe—that reflect the hotel's push toward a moneyed, bohemian, and woke crowd." - Travis Mitchell

Google
Found Allegory on instagram. Pete was very responsive and helped navigate setting up an appointment for my first tattoo. He listened to what I was looking for and made it happen. Day of, we answered all the questions I had and made me feel at ease. His lines and colors look amazing. The shop looked great and everyone there was very nice. I will be back.

Pete is AMAZING! Took me 3 years to find an artist I trusted to bring my tattoo idea to life and I'm so happy I waited. I can't wait to see what she looks like healed 🥰❤️

Google
I had such a great experience at Allegory today! It was my first time getting a tattoo in 6 years so I was a bit nervous, but Pete did an amazing job! He created my design just as I’d asked and made me feel very comfortable. Additionally, the shop is very clean (including the bathroom), and everyone’s energy is so nice and friendly. The tattoo was also within my budget and I’m very happy with it’s quality. They also take walk-ins! I’m excited to go back for any future tattoos I may desire! Thank you again Pete and Allegory! ☺️

Google
Can’t speak to the other artists, but I’ve seen Brooke twice and I would see her again! Makes you feel very comfortable, and has a great eye.

Google
I have been getting tattoos from Pete since 2011. He is so kind and never complains about doing my tattoos even though they are mostly hearts and flowers.

Google
Great experience from start to finish with Brooke! She created the perfect cover up design. Thank you!

I was referred to Pete by some close friends. Although their work was a few years old, I was impressed at how well the ink color stood up over time and the quality of his work was really clean with no scarring. I reached out to him via IG and he was super responsive and helpful. With a deposit he began working on the design for a larger piece for me. While I was waiting I sent over a separate smaller tattoo I had been wanting and he got me in the following week. The location is clean and organized and once you sit in his work station you can see all the artwork on display that's his personal art. Extremely talented and very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was wrapped in plastic and removed from sterile packaging. I loved my smaller piece and the design he came up with for my larger piece was beautiful. I made sure to book my next session that same day. I highly recommend Pete. Price point was great also👍

Google
I have been getting tattooed by Pete since he was an apprentice!!!! What an amazing person and even better Artist!!!! I live in the Chicago suburbs and will be again flying to San Diego to be drawn on permanently by Peter! That should explain enough! If your looking give him a shout and trust his instincts.

Yelp
I have been going to Pete for over 10 years and I have sent numerous friends and family members to his shop. It is super inviting, clean, not pretentious, and I genuinely enjoy hanging out and chatting with Pete and any other staff. His prices blow my mind, I always over tip because he does not charge nearly as much as he should. I will continue to only go to him for all my tattoos. He does every style, but if you ask he will tell you if there is someone else that could do it better. I have zero complaints about this shop, out of the probably 15 times I have gone here.

Yelp
All the artists in this shop take great care in their environment. It is clean and hygienic. The music is always on point for my sessions. I have had four sessions with Kyler for a piece on my thighs. He has a light hand and his artistry is insane. My piece is still not quite done but I will post the progression and will update with the final product.

Yelp
Pete was great. So easy to converse with and he just put my mind at ease -- knowing I was in good hands. His work is top-notch, and that attracts other good artists under their roof. The vibe was real chill, which is what I liked, too. I will definitely seek him out for my next tattoo, and would recommend others do the same.

Yelp
I originally came to this shop for a cover-up piece. I thought to offer more money and opportunity to the artist besides just the cover-up work by getting another completely new tattoo design on my calf. I provided the artist with a photo of the exact design that I wanted on my calf. The artist, however, decided to create their own design. Once it was all said and done, I wasn't completely happy with the way that her design looked. I asked for additions to be added to the tattoo to make it completely to my liking since it's permanent and on my body forever. Natassia stated that she did not want to work with me anymore because I kept on changing her design, even though we had just begun the cover up piece still, and it still needed a LOT of work to be complete. Prior to Natassia's refusal of continued service, she had stated she would continue and finish my cover-up piece no matter how many sessions it took, and I had already paid for it. Now I'm left with a halfway finished cover up tattoo, who another tattoo artist in San Diego looked at and said that the artist who began this cover-up was "inexperienced" and that it was "not the approach he would have taken." Luckily, he can continue the cover-up and fix it. There are an abundance of reputable and professional tattoo shops with sterling reputations and integrity within San Diego. Allegory is not one of them. However, if you do choose to still visit this establishment for your tattoo needs, DO NOT GET ANYTHING DONE BY NATASSIA. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Update: Please post the photos you claim of my finished cover-up work, and I will show you the sloppy and unfinished state Natassia left my cover-up piece in. The piece was NOT, nor was it anywhere NEAR being completed at that time. Another completely unrelated artist from a different shop took over who can also attest to this as HIS currenr work. Thanks

Yelp
I have been going to Pete Walker at Allegory Tattoo since 2016. He's done' a half sleeve for me plus a bunch of other tats...Basically he has covered my arms in tattoos. Most recent tattoo was a bee and it's stunning. I will be seeing him in a couple days (along with my kid) to get matching waffle tattoos. I basically sent him a picture of a tattoo I liked and he was able to draw up something amazing. He is always open to your suggestions on tweaking his work. If you say, "oh, I like watercolor" then you change your mind and decide that you don't want the watercolor just tell him and he's happy to adjust. I am always pleased with his work. Thanks Pete!

Yelp
My partner and I have been coming to Allegory for many years now and Pete always does amazing work for us in a variety of styles. He listens to what we are looking for, is always open to modifications and has a gentle hand with his work. Put it this way, we moved up to Northern CA a couple years ago and still make the 8 hour drive south to see him whenever we are ready for more. Currently he is working on a full leg sleeve for me based on Final Fantasy VII characters and so far I am completely obsessed with it. We will continue coming down to see him, his work is that good. In keeping with COVID protocols, Pete runs a super-clean, super-diligent operation. No walk-ins, appointment-only. Temps taken at the door. Masks worn at all times. Only artists and the persons getting work done in the building.

Yelp
I was in for my first tattoo. My birthday coming up soon, I wanted it to be done right. Like everybody even I saw a Groupon for this place and decided to shoot them an email. Withing few hours I got a reply from Narnia and she quickly set my consultation visit up as well. On my consultation she also suggested me to not buy the Groupon since my tattoo was small and I would only waste money. I really like it when people help you with stuff like this. She set up my appointment for two days after. I went in to get it done yesterday. I was freaking out because I'm not known for handling pain well and this was the first time I was getting it done. Took me 4 years of contemplating to finally be able to step into a body art studio. Narnia made sure that I was comfortable since I told her I am freaking out. She stopped in between lines to help me breathe, she got me a candy for my dizziness, she waited to ask for her payment until I said I felt better. I know nobody cares if I was scared, or felt dizzy or if it was my first. But these small things matter in places like these. Just because of Narnia, I might get a second tattoo someday. Brilliantly done. I am super happy with the whole experience.

Yelp
An update a few years later - I have continued to go to Peter for all of my pieces and he keeps knocking its out of the park every time. You can come to him with a general idea (flowers and a snake, for example) and he turns it into gorgeous, unique art. I highly recommend their studio.

Yelp
I had a cover up of an infinity loop done. It turned out beautiful! We changed the infinity loop into two butterflies. I will definitely come back!

Yelp
Natassia was awesome! Very professional, quick, and did a perfect job for a reasonable price. Other shops quoted 4x her price. Had no trouble with my finger tattoo which other shops refused. Also did a great job on my forearm tattoo. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pete did an awesome job for me. I had a 12 inch scar that I wanted to have covered up and he gave me an awesome bio-mechanical sleeve!! I get a lot of compliments from people who see it. Can't wait to get the other arm done!

Yelp
I've had over 25 hours of tattooing (2 tats) done by Pete (the owner). I've had tats done by multiple artists in multiple states, but needed an artist when I moved to San Diego. I went to him after I saw his work on a friend of mine. Pete immediately made me feel comfortable and confident in his ability. He doesn't typically do walk-ins, as he's usually booked out a couple months (the telltale sign of a wonderful artist!). I always walked in with an idea of what I wanted and a couple sketches of it to give him an idea. He has consistently surprised me with his artistic interpretation of my ideas (just trust him and let him do his thing.. I promise it's better than what you came in with!) He does wonderful color work and it has really held up over the past 6 years. In fact, I'm going to text him today to try to get a new one :)

Yelp
Was lucky to get a groupon for this place. I was helped with Narnia, who was so helpful via email. I wanted to make sure the tatt i wanted done would be covered by the groupon ($140 value of 1 hour tattooing for $85) . When i went to Allegory i was set up and scheduled (luckily for me the earlier apt was the very next day) Narnia had the transfer ready and made sure to check the sizing if it was exactly how i want it. The shop is super clean! And a very chill environment not once did i feel judged or out of place. I got 3 pixelated hearts on my left shoulder. She had me laid down on my back while being tatted, which was a very comfortable position. I would definitely come back here for future tattoos !

Yelp
I've been searching for a reputable tattoo shop to get my first tattoo for my birthday. As I was talking about this to my best friend she said she had found a Groupon deal for Allegory in San Diego even though she lives in Sacramento. So I thought that is a good deal but I need to check this place out and see their portfolio of tattoo work. After reading all the stellar reviews from Groupon and Yelp I decided to go with booking my first consultation with Narnia. I was pretty confident that the work was going to be great as long as I got the design I truly would love and was original to me. Well, I was a bit lost on settling on a design and at first I brought in some shutter stock that I wasn't really in love with but would like for a tattoo. I gave it to her but knew this was so boring and unoriginal. The next day I sketched up some tattoo concepts that I would like and emailed them to Narnia. She responded pretty quickly to my sketches, as my appointment was only a week away, that she could come up with something I would like. At my appointment, she showed me her design based off of my sketches and I was amazed at how she got everything I wanted for my tattoo, it was a piece of art! The session was little over an hour but Narnia somehow got in so much detail and color, which I wasn't originally going to do but she suggested it. The finished tattoo was absolutely gorgeous, I loved it! The color and the design were exactly what I wanted without being able to say it exactly. Narnia is very intuitive artist. The Pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it felt like a bad sunburn. And she gave me simple after care instructions, which I had all that I needed at home without buying more stuff. Bottom line I highly recommend Allegory for your first or 10th tattoo. The shop is clean, there is no pretentious atmosphere what so ever. I felt comfortable right away. I met Pete, the owner, and he was very cool laid back guy. Narnia was just the same, very nice and confident with her ability. I will definitely be going back for my second piece of ink.

Yelp
I am beyond happy with the service I received at Allegory. I found this shop through Groupon and decided to walk in for a consultation. My intent was to conceal some dark scars I've had for a few years. I had the pleasure of Narnia be my tattoo artist. We were able to talk about some ideas and schedule my appointment all in the same week! I was thrilled with the flexible scheduling! The day prior she sent me a sketch so I knew what to expect. On the day of my appointment she freehanded the design on me so that it would flow well with my body. It looked rad and we proceeded onward. This was a very sensitive spot for me and she was very patient when I asked for water breaks and time estimates lol. The end result was beautiful and vibrant with color. She did a great job, I don't have to be reminded of my scars again.

Yelp
This place is great. Tattoo Pete did a remarkable job. Such attention to detail and color. I get constant complements. He did what I asked but thankfully offered his opinion on what would work best when considering my skin tone and tattoo design. Everything he offered was right on. And on top of all that, great conversation. Sitting still for 3+ hours can get dull. He kept it interesting. Everyone in shop really friendly too. I would recommend. Thanks again Pete.

Yelp
So this seems like a strange way to get started with a tattoo artist, but I purchased an Amazon Local voucher for Allegory. I have a large tattoo that was incomplete from over 7 years ago and the voucher was my motivation to get into a shop and get this tattoo finished. It was a great decision, Pete is a very easy going artist, not pretentious or aloof, just a surfer from Carlsbad. Went in for a consult, Wednesdays are what Pete described as his "drawing" days so it was a good day to just chat with him. Showed the work I had up to that point, showed him some art I'd found and talked about next steps. Pete did a great job of bringing me down to Earth and encouraging me to finish the work that had been started and then going from there. We setup an appointment for that following Friday for 2 hours. The day of was no problem, got to the shop, got ready and jumped on the table. No fuss, no muss. 2 hours went by quickly, mostly shading work so it was being tattooed over old work and going over the same areas again which can be pretty painful. Not at all. Pete was using a rotary gun that really did improve the experience, less noise and vibration so the time went quickly and relatively painless as tattooing goes. I didn't squirm or have any rough patches, great hand Pete, thanks man!

Yelp
LOVE this place and after my experience I can't imagine going elsewhere. Yesterday I got my second tattoo done by Pete. When I first submitted a message on their website, he got back to me right away and we were able to set up a consultation appointment within a few days. I had gotten my first tattoo a little earlier at another shop and felt like it was incomplete, so Pete and I discussed ways to make it better. I only had a vague idea, but he took it and ran with it and came up with something more beautiful than I could have imagined! He made me feel really comfortable from the start and it's evident that he cares about his craft. The shop is very clean and has a really welcoming, chill vibe. The other artists there were also super friendly and funny, and you could tell they all just love what they do. My session ended up being longer than we'd predicted, but we were troopers and he always made sure I was doing okay. In the end we were both so thrilled with how it turned out - it's a great feeling when the artist is as excited as you are! I highly recommend this place and can't wait for my next tattoo!

Yelp
Pete Walker @Allegory Tattoo was referred to us by our son who has had many tattoos by Pete. This being my 1st tattoo, I was nervous. Pete has a calm nature and is a very talented artist as well as a gentleman. I'm not gonna lie, it hurt. But anything that's worth having is worth the pain getting there ... I'm a wimp, I'll admit it. My tattoo is on my inside forearm and I love it! Every time I see it, I look closer and feel the love I have for both places...the beach & the mountains, beach being my 1st pic as I grew up at the beach. My husband got a reverse of mine (ying yang) with mountains & beach as he loves both too but prefers mountains over beach as he's an avid skier. I highly recommend Pete at Allegory, he is a true artist.
google avatar

Yelp
Pete Walker is a true artist. He has done several of my pieces over a period of 8 years. I always get compliments. Several of my friends have gone to him because of his work on both myself and my wife. The most recent was a Memorial Tattoo of my beloved fur baby and I was blown away by the likeness of his face. He got me in the very next day because of a schedule change. I am so grateful because it meant so much to have this piece done in his memory, the same week as his passing. It's hard to find a GOOD tattoo artist and I am happy to say I have found the BEST tattoo artist out there.
google avatar

Margot S.

Yelp
I have been looking into different artist for a while to design a very specific tattoo for my first ink. I needed someone good with geometry and not afraid of color. I found Pete Walker from Allegory and fell in love with his work. He's proficient not only with the hard lined of shapes, but also with the organic flow of flowers, water, etc. I messaged him and right away we started planning what I wanted. He understood my idea and created essentially exactly what I had in mind. He was light handed and very helpful in getting me situated for my fist tattoo. I am so grateful I found him and allegory. I know I won't go anywhere else. I mean, just look at his work! Definitely will recommend allegory and Pete to all my friends.

Yelp
Found out about this place via groupon. I will say, it's in the HOOD. I went to the gas station before getting my tattoo and I got a bunch of looks from some creepers. Not so awesome to say the least. But whatever, eff it! I'm not quite sure of my tattoo artist's name. But I'm pretty sure it wasn't Pete. I asked if the tattooist was the owner and he said No. nice guy, made me feel completely comfortable but he was on the quieter side. He offered to do color, and I wasn't so sure. With any questions I had regarding color (i wanted red) he was very informative and reassuring. My artist was very fast but also aware of me and my wishes of this tattoo. I mean, I told him what I wanted and he was very attentive. He even offerd suggestions, but was very insistent that decisions were final by my say so. Bathroom was clean. The parlor itself was very chill and clean. It wasn't typical with all these books/portfolios laying around or wall art of other tattoos. But it did have a weird goth feel, but I really liked it. 4.5 stars for service, cool ambiance, great service, and most definitely great work! I would deduct a 0.5 for location and parking. I'll be honest. That crap is shitacular. But I'm in a giving mood so I rounded up rather than down, besides... these guys deserve it. :)

Yelp
I worked with Narnia to put together a Wonder Woman tattoo, it was important for me to support a woman in the tattoo industry while looking for an artist- I'm pretty sure I told Narnia that I wanted something that was subtle but obvious... whatever that means. We talked about my original idea and she gave me suggestions and ideas on what she was thinking and how we can personalize it. I emailed her a few photos of what I liked (different version of WW, both live action and animated). I was hesitate about color (my other tattoo is just black ink) but after talking to Narnia we decided to go with color and it turned out amazing. She was very communicative and at no point did I feel uncomfortable. I've already recommended her to my sister and random strangers coming up to me to comment on my tattoo. The shop itself is SUPER clean and well-lit; I didn't feel out of place or shamed for not being covered in tattoos. I went with a friend who was also getting a tattoo from Narnia and she made sure to clean and disinfect everything between tattoos. I can't wait to go back for my next tattoo! Thanks Narnia.

Yelp
Very clean shop. The people that work there are really friendly and professional. I went there to get a continuation on a tattoo I already had. I had countries visited tattooed on my leg. Last time I had my whole left left and this time, at Allegory, I had my right leg done. When you compare them side by side you can tell the lines aren't as even on the allegory (right leg) side. Especially Perú. It's especially confusing since she wasn't free handing it.

Yelp
I'm writing this review based on a tattoo I got done here back in the end of 2018. The shop itself was extremely sanitary and maintained very well. I came in for a walk-in and had a tattoo done by Narnia. The stencil for the tattoo met my expectations completely but the actual work that was executed was disappointing. The tattoo I received was very asymmetrical and sloppy compared to other examples of tattoos I had seen from Allegory. The line work was extremely dark and thick and has bled together drastically over time. Although it's expected for all tattoos to fade, the thickness of the lines seemed to have exacerbated the issue and the tattoo was not great to begin with. I do believe this shop has great work (as I came with my cousin who had a beautiful piece done by Pete), I just happened to have had a bad experience personally.

Yelp
It won't matter if it's your first or another piece of the puzzle on the canvas that is your body, Allegory is the perfect place for you. Fantastic artistry with the greatest results, consistently. Haven't even mentioned the friendliness and customer service. Great job to Pete and his crew. I won't go anyplace else and only recommend Allegory.
google avatar

Yelp
I scheduled my initial appointment w/ Pete to go over what I wanted. I am in the process of finishing my sleeve & told him I wanted a feather w/ color. He listened to what I wanted & scheduled my next appointment. He also went over how he can tie in all my tattoos to make it look fluid. That is exactly what I needed, a professional to look at what I have, implement what works (color, size) & let me know how he can update previous work. He knew I love color so he chose what he calls the "loudest colors". He showed me the outline before proceeding & before I knew it was finished! The loud colors turned out beautiful & rich. The tattoo healed amazingly too! He didn't scar me & gave me simple tips for healing. I get SO MANY compliments & I CAN'T wait to finish my arm! I am so happy I found my new, no hassle artist!

Yelp
Pete is an amazing tattoo artist. He has done 3 of my tattoos, two smaller ones on my feet and a large rib cage piece (see photo, watch out for side boob action! sorry!) I've recommended him to so many of my friends that want colorful and unique tattoos. He cares a lot about the design and the way it lays on your skin and the way the light will hit it. I definately feel like I have a work of art on my body, not just ink in my skin. Thank you Pete!!
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
My very first tattoo and my son's 2nd, l am so happy we found this shop!! Pete doesn't only deserve all these 5 star reviews but he and the artists have definitely earned them. I found him on Yelp, we are here on vacation and thanks to him we have a permanent reminder of our fantastic time in San Diego and at the Allegory studio! And as always people don't forget to tip your artist!

Yelp
Finally, I found a place I can see myself going back to again and again. I've had 3 different tattoo artists work on me at various shops before finding Allegory Tattoo and meeting Narnia, and she is by far the coolest and easiest to talk to. My first phone call there was quickly followed by a consultation, and we booked an appointment for one week later. She was very easy to work with and understanding of my vision. Not sure if it was the simplicity of my tattoo but I found her quick and accurate with her lines. The whole experience was absolutely fantastic, and I'd recommend her to anyone. I'm IN LOVE with my ink. I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you, Narnia!
google avatar

JD W.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about Narnia! She just completed my second tattoo which is of a portrait from a tv show that I love. Narnia did my tattoo exactly like the picture I gave her and it turned out so amazing, I've even gotten so many compliments on how amazing it turned out. Go see Narnia she is by far the best in San Diego you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Jay W.

Yelp
The thing I like about this place is the art all over the wall so I'm guessing that they're both artists and not just people that copy stencils that was dope & the other thing is that the lines are straight and she had light hands I'm barely scabbing overall dope place itching to get back

Yelp
Tattoo was done Mid July 2012 I got my tattoo by Pete by purchasing a groupon. I first called in to make ask about the groupon.... The guy who picked up the phone did not seem very confident he wanted me to come in even though I already knew and planned out what I been wanting to get. I was just fortunate of landing a deal to have me get my tattoo quicker then planned. Considering the price of the deal I wanted to call to make sure it was accurate. After hanging up I quickly went on there website to assure me these artists were of course good artists. When myself and my siblings went in they asked us a bunch of questions I was just super excited and already knew what I wanted presented it and Pete showed me. This place was very clean and they were polite. I feel like they play dumb founded because they don't feel like you will go through with the tattoo but if they keep doing so they'll loose customers. Social media is a Great source to advertise and market hence the groupon attracted them some customers and got them busy. Understood only 2-3 people at the shop but it does pull in business. The two guys are great artists and do have a lot of passion for what they do.

Yelp
What an incredible experience having Pete do my 1st Tattoo which has an incredible personal meaning to me; a true professional. He collaborated in improving my original design without compromising the original intent. "Allegory" should be the example for the industry. From the moment you walk in you know you are exactly were you need to be; anybody considering having your 1st or your 100th Tattoo done you must visit Pete at "Allegory"

Yelp
I recently moved down to San Diego and decided to get my first tattoo. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed so I had to put it on hold. Once I decided what tattoo I wanted to get to honor his memory I started on my search. I always come to yelp and never go anywhere that is not five stars when it comes to life altering decisions like getting a tattoo. Anyhow, I saw Allegory had five stars and I went for it. Contacted Allegory and Narina answered the phone. I told her what I wanted and sent some pictures. Went in the next day to talk more about it. Paid $60.00 deposits and by that night she sent me a sketch. I liked it but I didn't love it so I asked her to tweak it a bit. She sent me another sketch a couple days later and it was almost perfect. I had a few extra tweaks added and I fell in love with the sketch. I went in yesterday (9.19.15) and we got started right away. The whole process took about an hour and a half and I got color. I would recommend Allegory for anyone looking for their first tattoo. We all hear how horrible the pain is but it's really not so bad depending on where you get it. I have not been able to stop looking at my tattoo since I got it and my siblings are all thinking about getting another tattoo. I am just an all around satisfied girl because this tattoo signifies everything I wanted it too and its all thanks to the wonderful artwork of Narina. http://www.allegorytattoo.com/#!narnia---tattoos/izm8h

Yelp
I had an amazing tattoo experience with apprentice, Natassia. Natassia was great at understanding my poor directions and creating a beautiful work of art. With minimal direction, she designed a tattoo of my cat's face. Her style is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Getting a tattoo done by someone who is apprenticing can be really nerve racking but she seemed well prepared, knew what she was doing, made me comfortable in every way and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The most important part is that the tattoo looks beautiful.

Yelp
Just got my inner wrist tattooed today. Pete was AWESOME. He is totally down to earth and has zero attitude like you often find amongst even the best tattooist/piercers. I was a bit nervous even though it is my second tattoo (it's been a while) and he immediately put me at ease. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I will definitely be back. ;))

Yelp
So i actually did not get a tattoo here and I never will. I went in for a consultation for some scar cover up on my shins and the guy who I spoke to (tallish white guy that sits in the back right) was the most arrogant man I have met in a long time. I went in with no real idea what I wanted done, I went in to get some ideas, maybe see some flash, but all the "advise" I got was, not to rush into anything. Now this would have been good advise for someone with no tattoos but I have over 25 different tattoos already. It honestly felt like he just didnt want to tattoo or help out that night. I was ready to pay for 3 - 4 hours for work for about two 5X5 inches of skin. Ended up going to Concrete Jungle and had a much better experience.

Yelp
I'd been searching through tattoo shops in my area to get my first tattoo as I'd honestly been kind of scared and had been putting off getting my first one for a while. I came across Allegory and checked out the website. I was VERY impressed with the wide range in styles of work Pete had in his portfolio so I promptly emailed him. I wanted a color tattoo, cartoon style which I knew he'd be able to do seeing his work so I was confident in sending in my idea and coming in for a consultation. He turned my idea into something amazing! I also liked that I was able to communicate with him via email before my appointment and he sent up a rough sketch before I'd come in so he knew if I'd approve or if I wanted to go a different direction. That was very cool of him. Going in, the shop was VERY clean and has it's own parking in the back which is good. I sat in the waiting area for a bit while he finished up with his previous client. I was REALLY nervous as this would be my first one and was very vocal on the issue haha. Almost too much. But Pete was very easy to talk to and started off slow and made sure I was comfortable. He answered any questions I had and got my piece done in about 2.5 hours. As I said, his design was great. Color and shading is perfect! I'm in love with my first tattoo and I'm very glad I came to Allegory. I wouldn't change a thing. Pricing was very fair and apparently they have deals on Groupon and here on Yelp so I'd check those out as well. I will definitely be coming back here for my next one, and am already recommending it to anyone that's asked me about my tattoo :) See you next time. Thanks Pete!

Yelp
I've now had 2 pieces done by Pete and could not be happier. He is very busy and yet does not rush the process of putting together a concept and fine-tuning it to be exactly what you want. He is also just an amazing artist so it's cool to give him your ideas and watch him bring it to fruition. The tattoo I had done yesterday covered up a 6 inch scar and an ugly old tattoo. I will go back in a couple weeks to complete the colors. Another little bonus is that he is super smart so you can have interesting conversation which helps to distract from the pain. :) The overall feel of the shop is more that it is an art studio...Definitely not a street shop. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

Yelp
I think the tattoo was cool! The artist improved on a lesser artist and I am pleased!

Yelp
I went in because I found them on Groupon, and it was a great decision. On my first visit I talked to Narnia and she gave me her number so that we could communicate easily throughout the weeks as she sketched my drawing. When she sent it to me she answered any questions I had with no problem and was able to fit me in the day after I gave my approval. When I went in she made sure all her equipment was set up properly. She suggested doing color, which I did not consider as an option as my skin tone is pretty dark. She knew what colors to use to make it stand out and made the tattoo flow perfectly with the tattoo I already had. I could not be more thankful for turning an average tattoo into something I am happy to have on my skin.

Yelp
Lucked out when I came across a Groupon to get some work done. When I checked out their portfolios on their site, how could I NOT cave in & get that deal? I walked in a couple of days ago to check the place in person, & make sure the place was nice & clean, & to get a read of the vibe there, then possibly schedule an appointment if it was all legit. And from the get, things clicked at Allegory. I spoke with Pete (who is super chill & awesome) told him my concept, & made my appointment. Just got my origami brachiosaurus tattoo done not too long ago from him, & I am on love with it! He did such an awesome job with the shading & line work. Will definitely be coming back for all of my future tattoos!

Yelp
I've been looking for a place to get some work done for a fairly personal tattoo, I found Allegory and decided to give them a shot. After sending an email to Pete I got a response fairly quick. We started to email and set up an appointment for a consultation and after getting a general idea for my tattoo he said he could definitely do this. All this time Pete was being amiable and professional which is a plus in my book. Finally after exchanging emails and ideas, Pete took my thoughts on his rough draft really well, for a while we decided on the final concept for the tattoo and set a date to get my work done. Now that my work is done, I couldn't be happier. I definitely would recommend them to any of my friends.

Yelp
Pete's line work is excellent and clean. Mondo's creative cartoon/freehand work is amazing. I have personally gotten work from both of these talented artist, and plan to get more! The atmosphere is very comfortable. Staff is very friendly and professional. This shoppe is nearby the Soda Bar.

Yelp
I've received two pieces of artwork from Pete and I'm so happy with them. He's funny, creative, makes great conversation and is always happy to work with me on what I want. I've had work done at Full Circle and I think Pete is right up there in terms of experience and satisfaction delivered. I've recommended him to all my friends and I'm constantly complimented on my tattoos from Allegory.

Yelp
P Dub...Pete Walker...badass! Been looking for asn artist for a very long time...years I would say. I live in Denver and Denver has amazing artists but most of my tattoos are from artists that have shops out of state. My latest, big piece has been years in the making. I've been thinking of this concept for years but couldn't find anyone who could nail it down and see it the way i wanted it until I stumbled on Allegory a month or so before my spring break. Sent PW an email and we started chatting and hashing details. A drawing here and there and the piece came to life. Booked an appt on the second to last day of vacation just in case I tapped out. I was told it would it take anywhere from 6-10 hours. He quoted me a killer deal and told me that the only reason why I was getting that pricing was because he thought my concept would be a really fun piece to do. Day of the appt, we arrived at 1:00 pm--checked out the shop, met PW, made some adjustments and at 9:00 pm, I walked out with a half sleeve that flowed into a chest plate. Totally stoked about it. Yes, it hurt like hell. Sitting there and getting tatted for almost 8 hours isn't fun for anyone but extremely happy with it. It's been over a month and the tattoo has healed nicely. I get a ton of compliments and everybody wants to know the story behind it. I definitely recommend anyone in the SD area, SoCal area, or anyone who is traveling to that area to Peter Walker at Allegory.
