Has been a long cross country trip and tonight we decided to splurge and have a nice dinner. We'll, nice wasn't close....great was what we got! Our server Tara was amazing, funny, attentive, and kept us laughing. They had a lady playing piano in the room, and she was amazing also. Great atmosphere for sure. The salad bar was top notch and dressings were perfect. I had the seafood pasta dish and it was creamy and packed full of scallops, shrimp, crab, and lobster. My wife had the rib eye, and WOW...huge piece of perfection! Get the onion rings for an appetizer when you come. Fresh and done pefect! Great downtown location with lots of parking in a vibrant little walking area. Seriously....a great memory on a long, long, long trip!

Google
Lunch buffet $15. Nice salad bar. Ham cheese sliders (ask for the house made BBQ sauce, it is Smokey and delicious). Meatloaf was good, the BbQ chicken potato casserole, not so much. Salad bar good, lots of different options and delicious salad dressings. The beef stew soup was very good.

Google
I ordered the smallest prime rib and it was huge and tasted really good especially with the horseradish sauce I requested. The salad bar was good too. This has a very nice, laid back atmosphere.

The restaurant is cozy and the food is delicious. I am in Kearney for school and stop here before moving back home tomorrow. We stop here and not regret at all. The prime rib was amazing and Ahi tuna taco was also delicious.

Last day here kearney trip, I would have a good steak in town. still the sun high 3pm, there are few customer inside the restaurant, but as soon as I sit, one big group came in. the resraurant is calm, oldy nice ambience. I ordered Prime rib 16oz. come with fresh salada bar and garlic bread is so nice. Prime rib is very tender and jucy.and tasty! I usualy 10oz may be just enough. I thought 16oz is too big for me.. However very easly have them all.

We met friends at the Alley Rose and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was a busy Saturday night with lots of families and couples. There is a convenient free public parking lot less than a block from the main street area.

We discovered this gem of an establishment while on our way to vacation in the west, and we enjoyed it so much we stopped again a week later on our way back east. Both times we got to enjoy the service of some amazing staff, listen to live music provided by a talented young lady alternating between harp and piano and also some really good food. I was particularly happy with my end cut prime rib. It was both an amazingly well selected piece of beef and exceptionally prepared. On the way home I decided to try the almond crusted salmon which again, was an exceptional dish in my opinion... but I just can't stop thinking about the prime rib. Anyway, the staff from the front of the house to the back were friendly and accommodating, I thought the prices were more than fair, the atmosphere was pleasant on both sides (the more formal side and the bar side) and the food was great. We'll probably never go through Kearney again without stopping here for a meal.

I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of food and atmosphere. It is a fine dining establishment for sure. The salad bar has many selections including picked onions which I quite liked.

Yelp
The food, the service, everything about this restaurant is amazing. We have a tradition to meet our cousins for our annual Anniversary dinner. We started with appetizers of Bang Bang Shrimp, and the Prime burnt ends (served with blue cheese crumbles). The salad bar is the best in Kearney, a wide variety of vegetables, and the dressing is delicious. Our main course was the Frutti de Mare penne, and the Barded ribeye Cap steak. The seafood was fresh, and delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection. The best part of the evening was dessert. Do yourself a favor...ask for the Flambé. Fruit prepared and cooked table side, and set aflame. Beautiful presentation, and served over vanilla ice cream. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner so special.

Yelp
Walking in and having the smell of steak on a grill was an immediate yes we are I. The right place!! Bartender was the perfect host and server! Drinks were strong but not too potent....(whiskey mule) Prime rib rare..still chilled in the center and seared on the edges. Perfectly prepared. Fresh bead served with a crispy salad started the meal right. Had dessert options but we were to full!

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to me by a team member, who also lives in Kearney, while I was in town on business with a customer. The customer and I had dinner in the lounge area and the food & service were both wonderful. The ambiance is also nice and the location of the restaurant is in a great place. I highly recommend Alley Rose and know the next time I am in town, I will be there again for a wonderful meal and nice friendly conversation.

Yelp
This place is so awesome! As a visitor to Kearney, this was one of my favorite restaurants of the trip. First of all - so many gluten free options for gluten free pals like me. And the chef was willing to customize things for me - love that! I like the idea of the salad bar/soup station before a meal - it was yummy and a nice appetizer. Also, the dessert selection was wonderful, I was so excited and it was so delicious that my photo was blurry, LOL!

Yelp
Absolutely FANTASTIC 1. Great service. It was just me so I sat at the bar. The bartender was wonderful and made me a delicious Mango Punch 2. I had an appetizer that was as big as meal and was EXCELLENT

Yelp
This place was recommended to us as "the place" to eat in Kearney. We could see why when we entered. There's a large bar space, a large dining room, a salad bar area, and a unique back room for special events. The owner took time to speak with us about the history and to make Kearney sightseeing recommendations. The restaurant is undergoing a remodel, and the newly upgraded features will help make the restaurant feel more modern. Our server told us prime rib is the go-to for most diners. My husband went with the western burger, and I had the spicy (not really) mac with smoked salmon (also not really). The salad bar was surprising because I thought most everyone agreed we don't need this post Covid, but it's here: a standard salad bar. Definitely check out this place. Our biggest sad is we were too full for the yummy looking desserts baked by the owner's wife. Next time.

Yelp
Stopped in here while traveling through town. A very cute restaurant with a throwback steakhouse vibe. Everyone from the young gentleman host to the bartenders were incredibly friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar for a few cold beers before ordering dinner and ended up eating at the bar. Hubby had the ribeye (with potatoes and veggies) and I had the club sandwich with a mac and cheese side. Both choices were very good (although the steak was a bit tough). The mac and cheese was really good and the salad bar that came with the steak entree had some delicious homemade dressings. If you're looking for a nice dining experience, give it a try!

Yelp
Didn't get servers name. Service was great on the lunch buffet. Awesome complementary bread. The place looks like a well kept museum of sorts. Very quiet and a real fireplace!

Yelp
A nice salad bar for lunch was wonderful. We waited for a bit waiting to be seated, we did see staff so we seated ourselves, got our salads and started to eat before we saw any staff. Plenty of seating for groups, it's kinda dark but without loud music was pleasant.

Yelp
We were in town to see the Sandhill Cranes. After seeing about a half-million cranes, we asked where the best place to have dinner in town was and were told Alley Rose. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I went with the prime rib. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. Just an amazing meal. My wife got the shrimp scampi with mushroom risotto and both items were excellent. The waitress was great, attentive but not overbearing. Finally, what a cool, kitschy ambiance. What stole the show, however was the men's room. It was really cool. I tried to talk my wife into sneaking a peak, but she said no. Great place, great food, great service!

Yelp
Love the ambiance of this restaurant. The service was top notch and the food arrived in a timely manner. Very tasty food and portions are very good and I like to eat! The piano and pianist were awesome. Parking on a Friday or Saturday night is a real problem though. Overall we all loved this place. Been here twice now and both times were incredible.

Yelp
The best place to eat in Kearney!! Amazing atmosphere, amazing food!! Try the flambé!! Truly a special treat !!

Pob P.

Yelp
This place just gets worse and worse. They changed the menu for the worse which is sad for such an established restaurant in Kearney. I'd rather see them increase prices and maintain quality.

Yelp
Great service and food. Good portions and excellent spices. Atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable Great food and desserts!

Yelp
I ordered the prime rib medium rare. Steak was cooked perfectly, although I did have to add salt for e tea seasoning. Loved that the entrees come with a soup and salad bar trio. The salad bar was fresh. The vegetable side was cooked in s little too much oil for my preference. Potatoes were cooked perfectly.
google avatar

Yelp
We had the salad bar for lunch. It was fresh and a good variety of fresh greens, toppings and dressing for $13 each. Ambiance was dark woods and comfortable. Our waitress was Lauren and she cleared our dishes quickly and was attentive. Was a great downtown spot for two weary travelers wandering off the interstate.

Yelp
My family and I arrived a little after 6:30 and scored a table inside the bar. My uncle who's from Kearney chose the table especially since it was my first time at the Alley Rose and he thought it offered the best ambiance. We spent the evening enjoying each other's company along with the delicious food. The Ahi Tuna Tacos were a hit! Our experience overall was enjoyable until my family had to interact with the bartender, Chris. I'm not sure if things are done differently here but at all restaurants I've been to if you approach the bar the bartender is more than happy to help you especially if you're ordering a drink. My uncle approached the bar after we'd been waiting some time for two glasses of wine and had a less-than-pleasant interaction with Chris. He brushed it off and we chalked it up to a bad mood. Later on, it started pouring and we decided to have another drink since we were going to wait out the storm. This time I approached the bar and asked if I could get two glasses of wine. Chris looked at me like I was lost and proceeded to say nothing and walk to the cash register. I followed up my ask by saying "Am I inconveniencing you?" he said ,"How long ago did you order the wine?" And I kindly and calmly explained I didn't order the wine from my waitress since she hadn't been back to the table since she was busy helping other customers. He proceeded to ignore me and then when I said something like "It's fine or forget it." He raised his voice and aggressively said "I'll get it!" which is when my aunt stepped in and commented how he was speaking to me. I'm not sure if he was having a bad night or he just doesn't like human interaction but I've never met a bartender less hospitable. I'd return for the food and the experience but if I do I won't be sitting anywhere near the bar. I'd prefer a table in their beautiful dining room instead! If it hadn't been for my experience with Chris then I would of given this place a solid four stars!

Yelp
Food was very very delicious. The staff was incredibly nice, helpful, and friendly! If you are a student alley rose burger is right up your alley making it only $5. The blue cheese bacon burger is very good.

Yelp
I can't say enough wonderful things about the Alley Rose. In 2019, we had our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant, and our wedding reception was also catered by the Alley Rose. Every subsequent visit to Kearney, we have stopped in for a delightful meal. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the ambiance sublime. The food speaks for itself! You won't regret stopping in.

Yelp
B and myself here earlier today for buffet lunch. In days/times past, was or seemed, as really good choice. Now days...is mediocre. Maybe we and others are getting to experience more handmade food options at restaurants, or appreciating our own home food preps.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and were very happy we did. The prime rib and steaks were cooked perfectly. The room was elegant and service was attentive. There was a piano and harp player providing pleasant background music. I would have given 5 stars but the wine list is very poor and does not do justice to such fine food.

Skee P.

Yelp
I travel for work all the time and I am constantly looking for great prime rib. I had looked at reviews and people had said the prime rib at alley rose was good. I ordered the Medium size prime rib rib rare. When I received my prime rib it was the furthest thing from rare. I don't ever send food back due to me working in restaurants for many years. The prime rib was only seasoned on the crust and not the actual meat itself. Very disappointing and would not recommend getting the prime rib to anyone. I will say the redeeming trait of the restaurant was the kind bartender and the blueberry vodka was great.

Andy D.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. Fine dining at its best. Love the pianist. Best salad bar in Central Nebraska and definitely my favorite restaurant in Kearney
google avatar

Yelp
First of all the Bar has an awesome atmosphere. With real wood burning fire place, has an extremely cozy vibe. Salad bar Had a lot of home made dishes that you won't find at most Restaurants. My server was a guy and the other waitress I noticed were very attentive and great. I ordered artichoke chicken, my wife ordered pork tacos. This is where things went south. food was lacking any passion or flavor. The the risotto looked like soup. Chicken was basically a sliced breast with artichoke dip and some kind of a glaze and rub on it. Vegetables tasted like burnt grease and salt. Tacos lacked any flavor except a little spice from some sort of a pepper. In summary I didn't t it order the steak, so maybe that's their claim to fame. Not sure. This place has all the makings to be great they just need to get the kitchen sorted out. I would however go back and booze it up there, unless the cook I had became the bartender.

Yelp
Love the Alley Rose! They have an amazing salad bar, great drinks and their menu items are all delicious! My favorite is the spinach & artichoke chicken and risotto! Their steaks are also very good and are always cooked perfectly.

Brian B.

Yelp
Shawn was our server tonight and he lifted the spirits and added laughs to some weary travelers, just in from New Jersey and Montana today to celebrate our daughter's graduation from UNK on Friday. The service was exceptional, the wine and food were fantastic, and Shawn make all of our night with his humor and witty sense of humor and impeccable service. Bravo! We will be back!

Shylee W.

Yelp
The only reason this place is getting even 2 stars in because of the drinks, once the waitress FINALLY got our order right. The bartender, Amanda made amazing drinks (5 stars for her) First off, we didn't get menus until 10 minutes in, mind you there was 4 other tables. Our spinach artichoke dip (so simple) was so dried out and the cheese on top wasn't even melted. We ordered the shrimp scampi and both of us had 2 butter wrappers in it. It was so buttery and disgusting. Our waitress never checked in and screwed up everything we ordered. Maybe it was a bad night for them but I definitely don't recommend.

Yelp
Stopped by with my kids while traveling though. Our server Erin did a fabulous job! Very friendly and good with kids. My son, who we tend to have to fight to eat, was asking for more of the kids pizza. My daughter had the prime rib and she was in heaven. . Wish we lived closer to come back more often.

Cindy H.

Yelp
Had the special, 14 ounce bone in New York strip with mushroom sauce. So good! The crab cakes appetizers weee delicious. I didn't sample a dessert, but the rest of the table shared a piece of strawberry rhubarb cake and loved it. All the cakes and cheesecakes are made in house and vary every day. Good, attentive service. There was also a musician who played a a small harp and the piano. Very nice!

Donald F.

Yelp
Terrific place for those with celiac. Owner is friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and caring since. Any menu item can be made gluten-free including the onion rings; just talk to your server. Also, cross contamination is unlikely which is huge.

Doug E.

Yelp
When you are hungry for lunch, their buffet is really good. They have a make your own sandwich section, different casserole every day, veggies, desert and a very nice, many option salad bar. Food is mainly American / German. Price is also reasonable. After 4pm on weekdays, they have a low price happy hour drinks with lots of options.

Yelp
A solid dinner at a very fair price in downtown Kearney. I would definitely stop here again. I dined solo after a long day of driving and got to Alley Rose about 20min before closing. I'd called first to see if they were breaking down the salad bar--which they weren't. Pam who answered the phone and greeted me was friendly and offered to seat me in the main dining room but sort of nudged me to one of the many available "high tops" in the bar area which was a great call. (While having my soup & salad, waiting for my main, I watched a women's NCAA semi-final on TV.) The soup and salad bar were fine--good to see a salad bar as they seem to be disappearing. I had a Zip-Line amber beer with my med-rare prime rib (served with potato and a couple kinds of sauteed squash on the side, along with bowls of au jus and creamy horseradish). EVERYTHING was above average and the server was pleasant and not phased one bit that I sat down 20min before the kitchen closed. As I said, I'd come back to Alley Rose next time I'm in Kearney.
google avatar

Abby H.

Yelp
So happy we chose this spot! The food was above average, but the atmosphere was SO fun. Definitely will want to enjoy a glass of wine for the full experience ;) There is a salad bar too (nothing crazy) but definitely had a small town personality!
google avatar

Yelp
Restaurant along the main drag located in a building probably an 100+ years old. Lots of wood accents and what appears to be a tin ceiling in a portion of the dining room. We had a big group and there was a good sized room in the back suitable for a group. Lunch can be ordered off the menu or there is a small buffet available. The buffet had a variety of sandwich meats and toppings. The hot bar had three items; two veggies and a chicken dish. There was also a soup and salad bar to choose from. Overall, the food was adequate, but nothing out of the ordinary. Manager and staff were friendly and service was good.

Bobbi F.

Yelp
We were traveling and wanted to eat at a place specific to the area. This restaurant is so great. The food was really delicious and if we lived close, it would definitely be our go to place. I have a gluten allergy and they have so many GF options. The amazing thing, they are willing to do whatever it takes to make it GF. I am not celiacs so I have a few more options. As for dessert, the most amazing GF cheesecake ever. Spinach & Artichoke Chicken was outstanding. Chicken very moist and the best flavor.

Rolf D.

Yelp
I came in for a light dinner because I saw they had a salad bar. I enjoyed the nice selection on the salad bar and they make their own very delicious blue cheese dressing. I tasted a couple of their beers which were mainly from Nebraska. I'm normally not a fruit beer drinker, but ended up choosing an apricot beer that was crisp and really good. The decor in the restaurant is just what I would hope for with high tin ceilings and wood. A perfect place for a steak. Ask for Sean. He'll do a great job seeing that you'll have a great dining experience. When I'm back in Kearney, this will be my 'go to' for sure.
google avatar

Jane D.

Yelp
We came during the happy hour and the beer was very reasonable. Service was great throughout. Salad bar was fine with good dressings. I ordered the 8 oz prime rib, And it and it was done to perfection as medium rare, but I didn't find it particularly flavorful. It was mostly tender with a few gristely spots. The fries were nothing to write home about though. My husband had the ribeye, and it had good flavor and was also done correctly. The sides were a little sparse in quantity, and there were a few more gristely bites than usual in the steak, but it had a good flavor overall.
google avatar

Yelp
We used to go to this restaurant when I was young and it was called the pepper mill. We loved it then and I love it now! The meal was amazing! My husband had the chicken fettuccine carbonara and he loved it. I had the prime rib and it was the best!!! The service was great and everyone was so friendly! This will definitely be a place we will go to again!
google avatar

Veronica M.

Yelp
Soo disappointed, I was really looking forward to trying this place. The crab cakes and salad bar were good... I should've ended it there. But I ordered the Americana casserole which was super dry and had no seasoning. Then the smoked old fashioned tasted like a Shirley temple. No alcohol in my drink or my friends mojito, so I told the waitress when she finally deigned to come to our table, and she took it to the bartender and said they would take $5 off. Then the manager came over and tried to convince me that there was alcohol in it...I told her after I dug all the ice out, and the mashed up maraschino cherries, the drink was nothing but syrup. She said we should've let them fix it instead of sending it back. The waitress never came around for me to ask her to fix it so I don't know how I could've done that!!

Karly B.

Yelp
Alley Rose is such a classic restaurant in Kearney. We absolutely love eating there! Not only is the food amazing but the drinks are just as amazing and the service is wonderful. The atmosphere is peaceful and I just love when they have the pianist or harp player. Definitely one of our favorite places to go!
google avatar

Lucas B.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go with my wife. It has a great atmosphere and always great service. The food is great, a little pricier than other places, but it's worth it. Sometimes they have live piano music and makes the location that much better. If you like homemade pasta-like salads, make sure to get the salad bar. Because they have some great combinations that rotate in and out, so you never know which ones you'll get on a given day. And so far I've loved them all and are one of my favorite features at the salad bar.

Lynn L.

Yelp
We're traveling thru Kearney on our way back to Illinois. What a delightful and delicious restaurant Alley Rose was. Everything was fabulous, especially love the old school salad bar. We will definitely make Kearney our layover again when we go back to Colorado. I have to try the prime rib

Darrell H.

Yelp
Stopped in without reading the reviews and was very pleased. Sat at the bar and enjoyed a great meal. The Osso Bucco was great!

Yelp
SOLID restaurant. We stopped by for lunch due to our first choice being closed. Very happy for the situation. Everything tasted great, was priced well and the ambiance was really nice and cozy. The owner stopped by and checked on us - very friendly. Highly recommend this place. Want to come back and sit at the bar for some drinks! Ha

Yelp
Great choice for lunch. Had the burnt beef tips, wife the smoked salmon. Both were excellent. Salad & soap were $4 extra. Corn chowder was very good, salad nothing special but fine. Overall recommend this restaurant.
