We drove 40 minutes out of our way to sample their delicious donuts, which are bar none the best in the region. My kids agreed that they were the best they'd ever enjoyed, too.

Simply the most delicious donuts in Rhode Island. The old fashioned cake donuts have little crispy edges, while the crumb is tender and delicious. Worth going out of your way. We always bring a box home to Pennsylvania!

I’ve been eating Allie’s my whole life. From picking up a dozen on the way to the beach to picking up a box on the way home to my daughters, Allie’s has been a part of my family history. Don’t get between me and my maple frosted. I find the prices extremely reasonable (especially now that we live in New Hampshire and you can’t get a good donut period, let alone for less than $4 each). Cash only. Enjoy

Stopped in this morning for donuts and coffee and MacKenzie & Taylor absolutely made my day. Both were super friendly, quick, and went above and beyond to make sure I left happy. You can tell they actually care about the customers. Great start to my morning – thanks, ladies!

Let me start off by saying these are the best donuts I’ve EVER had. But what really makes this place stand out are the employees; especially Taylor and MacKenzie. They’re always so happy and inviting and recommend the most delicious items. Great food is one thing, but to have excellent and friendly service with it really makes Allie’s stand out.

I’ve been to all the donut shops in RI and nobody can still touch Allie’s! Another awesome cheat meal! Grabbed a 1/2 dozen donuts plus a maple frosted coffee roll, and luckily Allie’s is still affordable as all this was $12. I always get their raspberry raised stick which I’m obsessed with. Their coffee roll was amazing and the other donuts were perfect. Keep killin it Allie’s!

Best donuts by far! My local friend took me and no disappoint for sure! The atmosphere of the store was quiet but clam and nice. The variety of donuts they have was crazy. My favourite was the sprinkled donuts! Colourful and tasty haha if u ever have a chance go stop by or else your missing out👌

Allie's Donuts are great place to get donuts if you are in North Kingstown or nearby. The best part of their place is that they have day old donuts if you come early enough. We didn't come early so we just got half dozen donuts. I think their donuts are good but I am not sure if it out of the ordinary. I was actually surprised because it seemed a bit pricier than some donut places in San Francisco. But everyone is nice and quick with your orders. There are no places to sit and it is usually just order and leave place. They also only accept cash.

why is the staff so damn rude? They always make the customers feel like a nuisance. If you hate working there so much just quit Never again

This is a very nice donut. We tried the boston creme, because they are delicious, and a plain, to dip in my coffee. The Boston creme has a nice texture to the yeast donut. The chocolate on top is a light, milk chocolate type frosting. The custard cream has a nice level of sweetness. Not too sweet. The plain has a crispy fried outside and a dense cake inside. It held up very well to being dipped into my coffee. That coffee/donut combination flavor and texture is just right. Enter at the door at the corner of the building and wait in line. If the line is to the door, wait outside with the door closed until there is room to move inside. Once at the head of the line, wait to be called to the counter. No public facilities. No eating-in. Yesterdays donuts are bagged up and put on shelves by the exit. Would make more sense to put them along side the waiting line so customers can pick out what they want before approaching the order counter. Maybe use those shelves to direct the waiting line instead of the rope currently in use. A good sized parking lot designates the area next to the building for customers to wait in line. Pretty easy in/out of the lot with several exits onto Quaker Lane. This is a "Cash Only" business.

Everyone who knows donuts in Rhode Island's South County have heard of Allie's. They are famous for their delicious fried treats and the dozens of varieties. Everyone has their favorites. I like the cruller, while my husband likes the coconut one. Some people like the old fashioned, glazed or the one with colorful sprinkles. Regardless, a box of these treats will make any gathering a sweeter one.....

Allie's Donuts is a traditional RI staple! They have been around for a while. Aside from a variety of donuts they also have array of Donut Cakes and basic coffee. The donuts are light, soft, and fluffy There is always a line and it usually goes outside the door since the building is small. If going in colder weather definitely dress warm. I usually visit during the summer months so it's not a big deal waiting outside. The building can use a more modern remodel but it gets the job done in the meantime. I would suggest to put in a custom order if getting a big order. Make sure to bring cash - as this is a cash only establishment !

When we first moved to RI a lifetime ago, ALLIES was one of the first place new neighbors took us. Following with that, when folks came to visit us from out of state, we took them to Allies for what my Uncle called "a little piece of heaven on earth". I wholeheartedly agree with that earlier compliment! Fast forward 2024: Stopped at ALLIES for the first time in many ears... returning from chemo treatment at Dana Farber, my husband was wanting an Allies' fix, and with what this man endures, he can have whatever he wants (within our means!). Shock #1 - Rude.Rude.Rude. people at registers and filling orders. In my opinion there is nothing that one would do that would cause a staff member to laugh in someone's face, turn away and ignore someone and call them b--- because she or he didn't know something about a certain donut. And 3 out of 5 of the people working there fit this description. Shock #2 - Donuts are now $25.00 a dozen. We would gladly pay this, but not with the attitudes that come with the orders. And we know that YOU KNOW this exists - and persists. Shock #3 - People actually wait in line with expressions of terror not talking, etc, etc, fearful of reactions that might be received. We won't do that - and we will not honor people/businesses who do that to others. Especially to older people, needy people, etc. After all, we aren't all movie-star men and women waiting in line - let me tell you, at Allie's that gets you a smile and then some. I have written many comments - even sending personal notes to Allies - over the years. But a change in wording has been needed for a long, long, while. Such hardworking people own this business and it is a part of Rhode Island that is a touchstone for many. It is for us. But we will not return... Got a dozen donuts and they are cash only wamp womp Here are the ones I tried Chocolate cake good Blueberry excellent Jelly powdered excellent Strawberry shortcake okay Powdered lemon custard okay Bavarian okay Old fashioned jelly okay They have parking that's free and a lot. Things that kind of irritate me about this place are they're very finicky about order and how you enter the store. They want the door to be closed. They actually yell at people to close the door. I understand not wanting to have bugs come into your establishment but there has to be a nicer way of arranging it so that they can accommodate more people in the store. The whole place on the inside is very cumbersome there's nowhere to sit whatsoever regardless I just think that this is something that should be an easy fix by the management. Also they are cash only which is interesting in this day and age but there you have it. I only came to this donut shop because I was in the area I definitely prefer knead donuts in Providence though.

I visited the shop two days before Christmas and as always, it is a very popular donut shop. The store has a day old selection for a discounted price but we missed it as I heard those go away very quickly. I got a half dozen box and they were all so good. My favorite however was the maple donut as I prefer fluffier donuts. Even though there was a line, service was very quick and all the workers were nice. The store is a very casual store. CASH only store!

Loved this no frills cash only donut shop! Counter style ordering which stressed me out because the options weren't labeled and I wanted everything. None the less we walked away so full and happy! Glazed original donuts took our top spot and the maple donuts were a close second place. I would definitely recommend for a local sweet treat!

At the time he was a dairy farmer who had been supplementing income to support his wife and seven children by working additional hours in a local donut shop. He envisioned a better way to make donuts, something his employer was not willing to support. His effort became a very successful family enterprise, and Allie's Donuts is currently owned by his eldest daughter, Anne, and her husband, Bud Drescher. LOCATION: The donut shop remains on the original road, a main thoroughfare (route 2) in North Kingston with ample parking. The shop's parking lot is often full, as customers quickly stop to pick up Allie's legendary donuts, or unique custom donut-based cakes. EXPERIENCE: While you you can always expect to buy donuts until the shop closes at 2 PM, part of the surprise and draw to quickly get in line is the ever-changing availability of different donut flavors and styles. The hand-cut raised donuts may be filled and covered with glaze, frosting, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar, but cake-like donuts are offered as well. Some favorites of mine include maple glazed raised and the raspberry-filled granulated sugar covered donut. Coffee (iced and hot) and hot chocolate are available for those on the go, or who can't wait to enjoy the donuts at their intended destination! TIPS: The shop has two lines, one for custom donut cake pick up, the other for donuts and coffee. The interior is narrow and "no frills", designed for baking and pick up and go orders. The shop is cash only and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, otherwise open 6 AM to 2 PM. Shop employees will patiently identify donut types, but it is helpful to review the list of all possible types in advance as shelves are not typically labeled. This list (attached) is located near cash register. The shop might be considered a reasonable and worthy short side excursion for Foodie I-95 travelers.

I'm glad this place isn't closer, because of the calories! However it puts all other donut shops to shame. It makes us donut snobs. I love how simple and old fashioned they are. I love the plain and chocolate ones the best. But Boston Cream is delicious. My dad picks them up when he makes his weekend drive up to visit us and his grandkids. We love it!

After some time of not coming to Allie's, I decided yesterday to give them a try again. The place was not busy like it used to be years ago. Service was fine but the donuts have really declined. They didn't taste fresh and were very very heavy, in comparison to how they used to be. I tried three different ones and all were equally not great. Not that I'm too concerned with the cost but for the price they are now, $24 a dozen, double of what they used to be, they just weren't worth the cost. Plenty of other better donut shops on the state. RI Guys is close by and far superior . Sad to see this Rhode Island staple decline so much over the years. Needless to say, we won't be back.

My husband used to stop here often back in the day when he was a student at URI for his coffee. I had an iced coffee and it was smooth and delicious. Friendly staff.

Sickliest donuts I've ever purchased. Definitely going down hill for $24.00 a Dozen. Market baskets are far better and only $12.00 a dozen and don't look sickly as these. Will not ever return to this shop.

To say the least, this is the best donut spot in all of Rhode Island. It has super nice servers and the store feels very congenial and homey. There are lots of unique donuts for you to try out, and they taste super good! 5 out of 5 donut shop in North Kingstown!

Donuts were pretty good and fresh. The lady that greeted me was a breath of fresh air but the lady who sold me the expired apple juice was not so enjoyable. Please throw away your BAD EXPIRED BEVERAGES IN THE CASE. Your customers get sick from old milk/juice.

These are the the best donuts in Rhode Island!! The sprinkle donuts are absolutely iconic. They are so light and fluffy. The frosting stops just short of being tooth-achingly sweet, and contrasts well with the raised donut that is not particularly sweet at all. I also love the maple frosted, vanilla frosted, and strawberry frosted. They have seasonal specials too. I will say that I don't love the old fashioned donuts and crullers as much as the classic raised donuts; I wouldn't waste the space. It's $2 / donut or $9 for a half dozen, such a fair price for these amazing fresh donuts! The service is friendly and fast. You have to stop by if you are in North Kingstown!

$24 for a regular Dozen donuts? INSANE-Was charge for a large iced coffee when she gave me a medium-Place, we know, has gone downhill since the change of hands but $24 for donuts!- Will not be back.

Best donuts in town. Only donuts that can still tastes fresh after being a day old. A Rhode Island bucket list is that you must try a donut cake, which can be customized.

I heard so many great things about this place and had high expectations. I overheard one of the employees making fun of a previous customer after they left because of the way they talked because they were Asian. The employee was mimicking them. Horrible place with horrible rude employees. One and done. Will never go back.

I have had Allie's doughnuts at quite a few family functions. Always as a result of one of my adult children bringing them as their contribution to a family brunch when everyone was bringing something. That happened again this morning and as we were enjoying the meal, I asked my daughter, "so what does Allie's get for a dozen of doughnuts these days??" When she replied $24 a dozen, I about choked. I have nothing bad to say about the doughnuts, they're good, definitely above average BUT the $24 a dozen price tag is simply OUTRAGEOUS and in the future I am going to ask the kids, if they're going to bring doughnuts to a family brunch, PLEASE don't pay for Allie's, that price is robbery, regardless of inflation....

I like the donuts they are good and the ones I get are not too sweet. But how can you expect people to be able to pay with cash when you provide no atm! Cash is not traditionally carried anymore so why would it be if you have no way of providing access to it like other businesses that require cash do nowadays? It's a big let down when you're on the way to work and just wanted to stop to have something and have no way to get cash.

Literally the best doughnuts in the entire world. So good, in fact, I know someone in RI who saw a box of Allie's doughnuts in the middle of the road and risked his life to go grab them in the middle of traffic lol. I don't know what it is, but it the texture of the doughnut and the way it's proportioned with the frosting just hits different. The maple frosted is literally heavenly. I left RI 15 years ago, but whenever I go back to visit it is MANDATORY to go to an ATM and make a stop. If you know, you know.

I bought a cake for my granddaughter's 16th birthday and did not get what I ordered. I wanted a rectangular shape with a 16 on it in purple balloon letters. I got a donut shape with no 16. Plus the cake was doughy. I will never buy anything from them again. I think letting them use the Allie's name is a misnomer.

Wow! Amazingly fresh and tasty! I had a chocolate frosted lemon filled donut & a maple. The dough was soft & fresh. My wife had a raspberry filled, and if the raspberry filling isn't homemade it's a good trick! Amazing stop if you are in RI!

Waited in line to order a donut cake for a birthday. get to the front and they say you have to call to order one. Line busy forever and when they pick up they yelled and said they are booked and hung up. I was trying to be faithful to the original, but after the rudeness called RI Guys and they were so nice and accommodating. Allies not what they used to be.

Old time donuts, the way things used to be, before the Dunkin onslaught of mediocrity and before the hipster donut invasion of pretentiousness. I do love me a hipster donut and count Knead and a PVD among my favorites, but not every hipster joint has that kind of quality, so it's to those others that Allie's provides a refreshing counterpoint. Anyhoo, onto the breakdown: Glazed raised: A raised donut, for those not in the know, is the soft, light (not cakey) kind used for honey dipped, and this was as soft and light as any. Fresh at 7am Sunday. Clean, neutrally sweet glaze without the chemical aftertaste and no flaking. And good taste to the dough 'neath the glaze. Chocolate frosted raised: Same light and tasty base, with a light dried chocolate ring. And by light I mean light of both color (like coffee milk) and flavor (you might not recognize it as chocolate with your eyes closed). Maple frosted raised: Also light and still warm, but the big distinction here is that the ring of maple isn't a thin dried glaze but a thick, soft, creamy maple frosting, with maple flavor in spades. Better than any cupcake and possibly the highlight of the half dozen. Strawberry frosted raised: Another warm one and another with a thick application of soft, creamy frosting, bursting with strawberry flavor high in the sweet and without the chemical aftertaste. Boston cream: This raised shell donut (without a hole) needs no introduction, but it does need mentioning that the chocolate on top was the same light-colored, mild-tasting version as the chocolate frosted. Inside, vanilla pudding. The saving grace: soft and fresh donut base that at least made it a success texturally. But a mild disappointment. Raspberry powdered jelly: A gigantic rock of a donut, amply filled with raspberry jelly. A little crispier than the other donuts. Powdered sugar amply applied but not too messy. Jelly in every bite. Plain donut: Ordered in addition to the half dozen, in a separate bag, this was far and away the highlight of the visit: cake style donut, very fresh, crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, with subtle but delicious flavor to the dough, and just a hint of greasiness--enough to keep the donut moist but not enough to overpower. One of the best examples I've had among visits to well over 100 donut shops.

Land slide downhill thru the last few years. Go to Glaze n Daze on Greenville Ave Johnston. Greeted with a smile, will make donuts to your desire. Texture ALWAYS fresh and amazing. They sell out very quickly, I wonder why.. they CARE... Allie's is just RI desperate plea for good donuts. It's too bad

After my last experience in the store, angered me to no end. I stopped in early before my shift at work began. There was no line. I walk in and an older woman with a green hat started yelling at me saying "YOU GOT EXACT CHANGE." Being super early in the morning I was confused and said I don't know, I have cash. "WELL YOU NEED EXACT CHANGE, I DONT HAVE A REGISTER," rolling her eyes. I ended up walking out strictly due to her ignorance. The nicer approach would have been, "good morning, sadly I don't have a register yet so I am only taking exact change. What would you like to order..." and you know work a little with the customer to see if it's something that can be accommodated. Now when I hear all the comments about Allie's poor customer service, I believe it.

The classic rainbow sprinkles with vanilla frosting... my favorite donut EVER. Something about the fluffy frosting and perfect donut is the ultimate combo. Nothing beats them. All their other donuts are great as well, make sure you get plenty of each

I am a long time north Kingstown resident I've been in and out of this place for decades. Sometime around Covid maybe a little bit before this place got really weird. The employees there used to be so friendly. Whenever I have gone in there lately the employees seem to be walking on eggshells. There are many signs to keep you in line which I understand is necessary to keep things organized. In my opinion it seems kind of confusing and if you don't go in there look around read signs and look at the tiny little arrows on the floor you might get spanked. Think of the Seinfeld episode soup Nazi. EXACTLY! The donuts are pretty good but for whatever reason it doesn't feel like a fun place like it used to.

Shame on this business for taking advantage of their "popularity" and charging $2.49 for one donut! $24 for a dozen donuts is greed at its ugliest level. It's sugar for Christ's sake. They make treating kids for a family struggling in this economy nearly impossible. I bought my last Allie's donut today for sure.

This place keeps the old fashioned style donut shop with amazing donuts alive! This is a must go when we are in RI for vacation. You can smell the sweet donuts from outside. They have yeast and cake donuts. All so good and fresh.

I can't believe I never left a review for this place. Lived in RI for 4 years and I've been here more times than I could count. They have the most perfect glazed donuts in the state, maybe in all of New England! I miss them so much. I even miss driving 30 minutes and waiting in the cold just to get a dozen so my family and I can gorge and sit in a sugar coma afterward. A Rhode Island staple!

As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, we never had doughnut places like we do today. My grandfather would take me Sunday morning to get a weekend crumbcake and I'd choose a Jelly doughnut. That's it. No Dunkin' Donuts on every corner. Nada. When I read 3 star reviews for Allie's Donuts from Rhodies who say they like another popular spot, they are so lucky to have these choices! Allie's has been rockin' quality doughnuts since 1968. Located in an unassuming location is where the magic is happening. There is always a line but it moves quickly. My brother in law is telling me to get a maple doughnut. No, jelly stick! He went to college in Boston and also has fond memories of this place. I'm on a mission to have an iced coffee and a simple doughnut. I pull into the parking lot and a car pulls up next to me. The woman bolts out of her car and yells to her kids to meet her inside? Dang!! The line is deep but moving quickly. I'm all set to order an Old Fashioned Doughnut but they bring out a rack of freshly made Jelly Sticks. All bets are off at this point. I ask about the iced coffee and I'm told it's southern pecan. Great, I'm southern! Well, south Brooklyn. :D I bite into the Jelly Stick. The doughnut is a cake doughnut and filled with freshly made jelly. The Frosting (icing) is fresh as well. This is a quality crafted doughnut. I love the vegan doughnuts at Dun Well in Brooklyn, but what I experienced is pretty darn spectacular. And cheap! It was like stepping back in time paying for my items. I'm so jelly (see what I did there?) that Allie's isn't in New York. Keep doing what you do Allie's, what I enjoyed was made from the heart

The icing on these donuts is different from most donut places and it is excellent! We loved the beautiful sprinkle donuts!

Allie's lived up to the high expectations. Can't wait to return. Visting around 10:30 on a sunny Sunday morning the wait was over 1/2 hour, but well well worth it. Part of the fun was standing in line and talking with the other patrons, who are so passionate about Allie's. Once inside you will see the staff in action, kitchen in full view. Trays of fresh donuts prepared and brought to the front counter getting every couple minutes. Prices were incredible. $6 1/2 dozen, $12 for $12. $1 donuts!!! In a day and age where some newer shops are fetching $3-4 per donut this was a pleasant surprise. The glazed vanilla frosted donuts with sprinkles are the best I've had anywhere. All the cake based donuts were cooked perfectly with just the right crunch, moisture and coating of powered sugar or cinnamon. Jelly donuts awesome, as were the lemon filled and the glazed crullers.

These were hands down the best donuts I have ever had. We ordered a mixed dozen and my personal faves were the Boston creme and the maple glazed. The frostings were basically freshly whipped and had this creamy texture that bursts with flavor. The donut part was so soft and fresh and pretty much stayed that way for a good few hours. There is apparently a cake style donut that you have to pre order. I'll have to try that next trip.

When we vacation in RI, we always have Allie's Donut Cakes. We order a few weeks ahead. Better have cash when you pick them up. Always a line, but there is a separate check out for orders. Their custom donut cakes are incredible--in appearance, TASTE, and texture. They are a hit with young and old. Best donut favor. My daughter got married in Saratoga, NY in September 2018, and she ordered six Donut Cakes for her reception. Cousins who were guests delivered the cakes to the Hall of Springs the day of the wedding. These cousins introduced us to Allies, so they were excited to help the bride and groom out. As mother of the bride, I was skeptical of my daughter having donut cakes, but I was proved wrong! The cakes were one if the highlights of the reception. A tiered traditional wedding cake was served as well, but the donut cakes were amazing and created a buzz. Please see my photos. There are also photos of the cakes we ordered last summer.

How could I have never written a review of Allies Donuts??? I have lived off and on in RI for many years and ALWAYS go there when I am in the area. Allies is a RI staple for awesome, old fashioned donuts. Fluffy and light as air, they are filled and topped with delectable things such as flaked coconut, chocolate, vanilla and maple frosting, chocolate and lemon cream, and cherry and raspberry jelly, sprinkles.. the list goes on. No bacon flavor, black forest, vanilla chai here (not knocking those at all!!) or any of the new donut flavors that are in fashion right now, but various great standard donuts that we remember as kids. They offer a variety of fluffy yeast donuts, as well as cake donuts. They do not have a menu, and there are always lines, but they move quickly. There is a special counter for order pick ups so that can help. I don't know anyone that hasn't ordered or at least tasted one of their famous "Donut Cakes" served for celebrations throughout RI. They look and taste delicious! My personal favorites are the yeast glazed donut and the maple icing donut. They melt in your mouth and if you get them still warm, you've eaten 2 before you even realize it. :) CASH ONLY!! I can't remember if I saw an ATM or not the last time I was there , so be prepared. Oh and they serve coffee too . I don't drink coffee, but people seem to love it as well.

With all the hype I've been hearing about this place lately, I finally decided to give it a try! Went around noon to see only a short line waiting ahead of me. Because of COVID, you basically just walk up to their window, analyze their menu for a quick sec and then wait to the side for your name to be called. REMEMBER TO BRING CASH TO PAY! Ok, so I ended up getting four donuts: a raspberry jelly filled, a boston creme, a maple frosted old fashioned and an iconic sprinkles.....My advice? Skip the last two Yes, you heard right, DO NOT order the sprinkles. All donuts are good sizes and prices (about a dollar and change each) but not all are delicious! The jelly donut is generously filled and so is the boston creme! They are VERY sweet so while good, I could only eat about half of one every 30 mins lol. However the old fashioned had soaked up too much of the overused frying oil and it tasted slightly reminiscent of fast food fry ups. As for the sprinkles, I was really expecting more! The frosting is not a glaze but rather thick BUTTERCREAM FROSTING, like the one that comes from a jumbo tub...or basically like the one you find slathered onto supermarket birthday cakes Uhhh just waaayyy too sweet and artificial tasting. I was pretty bummed about this last one as it's the one everyone always seems to rave about! But again, unless you like heavy buttercream frosting, this donut is not for you. P.S. Maybe I'll go back for another jelly someday
