Google
Ordered breakfast for my friend and I. I ordered bacon, eggs over easy, hash browns with wheat toast and it was cooked perfectly. My friend enjoyed his too. Pleasantly surprised. I'll be back soon!

Tim Burkland

Google
Diner perfection! My breakfast was cooked exactly the way I like. The cook chatted with us for a while. A great experience all around.

Daniel Moreno

Google
Best breakfast in town. Great pricing. Owners are great. Its like eating home cooked meal. We will go every time we visit s.f. gotta check it out.

Rüdiger Wölk

Google
The message "cash only" has two meanings. One is, leave your credit card in your wallet. The second meaning, there's traditionally good food here. And big portions. Hungry? Then this is the place to be.

Google
first time and i really enjoyed it ! good friend of mines took me here just now and i’m definitely coming back

Veronica Garcia

Google
Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious: NY steak(medium), pancakes, crispy hasbrowns, over easy eggs. I asked for onions and bell peppers on my corned beef hash and it was amazing.

Griffin O'Conor

Google
They know what they’re doing, this place is awesome

Google
The food was good, the waiters were okay, I did get my coffee refilled. It was clean, busy and quick. It wasn't the best omelette I've had, but within the top five. My one issue was they brought my toast, nice and warm, then brought my omelette 5 minutes later. But life goes on.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast sandwiches. They are made to order. They also order donuts and desserts. You can call your order in a head of time. Very casual to go place.

Yelp
I got a huge breakfast burrito here. It was $15.50 but filled me up entire morning and I didn't eat lunch! Quick and easy!

Yelp
Glazed donuts are the best! Classic and delicious I also tried strawberry jelly filled it was okay with a hint of artificial flavor but not bad because of the glazing outside. Their staffs were super nice and friendly, highly recommended.

Yelp
Been buying regular glazed & chocolate donuts also the old fashioned glazed & chocolate donuts here for 11yrs. Their breakfast croissantwich is my Early morning favorite w a cup of hot chocolate. Only wish the orange juice that they served was freshly squeezed.

Yelp
Had to write this negative review, because the Asian woman working at the register was absolutely rude. And to think I gave a tip! What had happened was... My nephew went to use their restroom and took a long time, so obviously was doing a number 2. When he was finally done, the Asian woman sarcastically told him that he was in there for a long time. The nerve! I immediately told her not to talk to my nephew like that and that we just spent $42 eating at their restaurant. She then had the nerve to say she wanted to use the bathroom. I asked her well, why didn't you knock? And why are you just standing there being all rude instead of heading to the bathroom? She never did go there. Instead she went straight back to her register helping another customer and still arguing with me! Then even when I left the restaurant and was outside, I can still see she was at the register so she never had to really use the bathroom like she claimed. And even if she did, she NEVER had to be rude to my nephew. She also said she didn't care if we never ate there again. Just goes to show that she doesn't value customers which is stupid, because now she gets this bad review. Don't eat here! Spend your hard earned money on a restaurant that treats their customer with respect.

Yelp
Very bad customer service. I tried calling, they would answer and would hang up. Called multiple times and it's the same every time. They wouldnt even say anything.

Yelp
My good friend and I were wandering around near the Orpheum two weeks ago, waiting for our Hamilton show to start, hungry for a burger with only a half hour to spare. So what were we to do? Yelp app to the rescue! (Shameless plug alert!) We didn't have time for a sit down, or to walk very far, and the smell of burgers caressed our noses from a street corner as I was messing around with the yelp app. Allstar beckoned us and we were powerless to resist. A friendly lady welcomed us and showed us to two bar stools right away. Fast and friendly was just what we wanted, and two regular burgers were ordered for dine in, mine with all the fixin's, and his plain with cheese. Just like we used to order back in high school. We got to watch them make the burgers from where we were sitting, and that was something completely different. I don't remember the last time I was able to watch a burgermaster at their craft. The end product was delightful, juicy and fresh, with just the right amount of sauce. The burger maker asked us what condiments we wanted before slapping the buns together (huehuehue), and I appreciated that. I really enjoyed the heck out of this classic burger! The only thing that could be improved would be the general cleanliness, look and feel of the place. It reminded me of one of my mom's clutter rooms, and needed dusting badly. Not in the kitchen, mind you. The kitchen was very clean. Everywhere else however.... Still. I will be back for a quick burger next time I am in the area. Right next to the Orpheum, the Asian Art Museum, and the Civic Center, it's a logical pit stop during a San Francisco trip. Especially if you appreciate a damn good burger. That's Allstar, Stan. Are you in good hands?

Yelp
I am slowly becoming a fan of this place. It may not be in a prime location and it may not have the best looking set up, it is still clean, the service is quick, the prices are reasonable and the ladies are very nice. I tried the fish burger and onion rings. They were okay, but the next time I know to put in two orders of onion rings. I inhaled the bag of onion rings and wanted more. Next I tried one of their breakfasts (grilled apple sausage, scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes and wheat toast) for lunch. It was decent and the portions were more than enough to fill my stomach. I noticed they have grits on the menu, too. I love me some eggs, sausage and grits for breakfast. I went back last week for their burger and fries, again. The guy on the grill fixed that burger just right (when it's done right - it makes me wanna slap the cook). The 1/4 pound hamburger patty was cooked medium (not totally rare, but pinkish on the inside and juicy), seasoned well and quite delish with all the fixings (lettuce, tomato, mayo and onion). Watch out Mickey D's, Burger King and Nation's because I found a place where I truly enjoy the burger and fries - All Star Donuts and Burgers.

Yelp
Never judge a donut shop by its shady neighborhood! My friend(who lives in Alameda) swears by their breakfast & drives down here every weekend. Today I was walking on Golden Gate, stomach growling & ended up here. Remembering how much my friend raves about this joint made me grab a seat & order a blueberry waffle & eggs. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/C64O-QLRWXRmoBabA-3jVw?select=x-AmgwvPvgVXt9oJZzuaIA#tK6eNeYef__oPi3wXVirRg IT. WAS. DELICIOUS.

Yelp
I got food poisoning here after ordering sunny side up eggs. I thought the hash browns were horrible but perhaps I should've questioned why the egg whites were clear and not white. Totally sidelined me for a few days while running a conference.

Yelp
I have not been treated so poorly than my visit this morning. I was refused service because I had my service dog with me. I explained that it was a service animal and still was denied. Unless I provided certificate and documentation she wasn't budging. First it's illegal to ask for documentation, and secondly to single out someone with disabilities is just not right. My service animal is what allows me to go out and live a semi normal life and without her is unthinkable.

Yelp
Came in really fast to grab a bagel w/cream cheese and came to find out it was $4.10!!!! Starbucks it's only $2.50..... Come on now how can we support local businesses when they over charge. Not coming here again

Yelp
Honest food, great people. Lady that runs the shop is a saint. This place is affordable for the people who live & work in the TL

Yelp
Great donuts, dangerous neighborhood!! Grab your chocolate frosted or glazed and beat it outta there!!! So so service but still a great morning treat. I recommend early morning before the "hood" really gets going.

Yelp
Oh the Tenderloin, a place where you can buy crack, bomb a$$ bahn mis, bread, fruits, milk all in one corner. How I hate but love you so. I stumbled upon this place because of mere curiosity. I always pass it on my way to work and it seem like it is always filled with people. So one Saturday morning my bf and I decided to try this little hole in the wall breakfast joint. The place is sketchy, the decor is no comparison to Stacks or some other high end breakfast place. It is a little messy. The waitress greeted us and sat us down, she was really nice. I got the spicy sausage and egg combo with a side of one waffle. The sausage was DELISH! the eggs were well prepared (over easy) and their hash browns were def tasty. I compare this breakfast to the one I had at Toast (which was not that impressive). The waffle was buttery and Oh so so so good! For the amount of money you spend at Stacks I can say that you can have 3 breakfast here. Don't be repelled by your surrounding, yes you will see drug deals happening when you look out the window, when you come out of the restaurant you might get slapped in the face with the smell of urine, but this is by far one of the best breakfast joints I've been to. It's cheap, yummy, and everything nice.

Yelp
Date of Visit: May 2013 While on vacation to SF we stopped in here after going to the farmer's market down the street. Quite a variety of food - donuts to breakfast to Asian to standard diner fare. Kind of interesting but definitely have something for everyone. My family and I had breakfast items and all was good. A friend of ours had Korean beef and damn, it was a huge serving for next to nothing. So. freaking. good. It's not 5 Star restaurant. It's corner and hole in the wall. It's local flavor. It's a small shop and there were maybe 10 of us together and we filled the place up. For the price, it couldn't be beat! Oh, and a note on the service - great. The staff was helpful in trying to figure out something to choose and was patient with my somewhat cranky toddler who didn't seem to know what he wanted. she offered a donuts while he waited - you could tell he was hungry (beyond hungry!).

Yelp
No weno, teriyaki chicken , freezer burn , tough , no good , people were nice , beautiful neighborhood

Yelp
My first impression of Allstar wasn't the best. I've seen some shady stuff happen in this certain part of mcallister and didn't expect much. Little did i know they serve delicious breakfast and lunch for an affordable price. Really nice service, always keeping your coffee full. Personally love their allstar omelet. Good pick if you're in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Come here almost daily for a snack and coffee for the past 4 years. Although they have been raising their prices it's still not as expensive as other places in the area. I like their cheeseburgers, and their sandwiches. I usually call ahead of time so by the time I get there i just pay. Owners are lovely people. They are a bit strict but considering the crowd that stand outside their door i understand why.

Yelp
One restaurant, a million choices. As the name suggests, it offers donuts and burgers, but I go there for their other specialty: breakfast. Two eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee, all delicious and for just over $5. Cheap, yummy diner food is nice, but what makes All Star especially impressive is that along with the deal you get super friendly service. After going there only a few times, they remembered that I like my hash browns extra-crispy and that I prefer wheat toast. I'm impressed. Aside from the donuts and diner fare, they also offer a variety of stir fry dishes, and everything is very reasonably priced.

Yelp
Interesting find. On the way to St. Patrick's parade, hubby and I decided to give this a shot. We've lived here for years and never went inside, so we figured "why not?!!!" This was a pleasantly surprising stop. The food was fresh, hubby's avocado bacon sandy had fresh avocado - yum. I had a party melt - juicy, flavorful, tender meat. My only hang up is that the patty was a bit too greasy, and the grease glimmered all over the bread. That being said, I do get that the patty melt is not diet friendly, and I'm not advocating for dry toast. I just wish it wasn't dripping all over the place. Nonetheless, it was yummy and I would come back!

Yelp
So far I've eaten about everything they have on their breakfast menu, the bacon avocado cheeseburger, and the All Star stir fry. The food, to be perfectly honest, varies between a B and an A, but most stuff is B+ or so. However, why 5 stars? First of all, there are some amazing simple and delicious dishes though most is standard diner fare (though well-made)... for example, the fried egg sandwich was my breakfast for my first two weeks of school. Yet, that isn't what makes it 5 stars. It's the service. Before my first day of class, I went in and got the aforementioned fried egg sandwich. Since it was on my way to school, I went there the next day and right away the cashier lady asked me if I wanted "the usual." I looked confused, thinking she mistook me with someone else. She laughed and told me she would have a fried egg sandwich ready soon. I was too shocked to say anything, but after talking with several friends about this place, it turns out she does that to everyone. After one time at All Star, you'll feel like a regular. The servers are incredibly friendly and regardless of how tired or upset I am when I go there, they always seem to make my day a little better with a smile and some cheap, delicious food.

Yelp
This Tenderloin (TL) Neighborhood Eatery is a thumbs up for Menu variety and taste for the palate. Located on the pretty active corner of Hyde Street, there's few dull moments during your dining experience and the staff are well engaged with Patrons & want to be Patrons, thereby supporting an overall nice hearty breakfast, lunch or dinner meal. They open at 7:10am and close by about 3:30pm -4:30pm and well worth the event!

Yelp
Sometimes you want waffles. Sometimes you want egg whites. Sometimes you want both. Rarely do they come together. For $4. No extra charge for whites, and I'm pretty sure the guy made them with little or no oil. A surprising cheap, delicious and healthy 'loin find.

Yelp
Love this place. I stop in from time to time for thier muffin special. It's a delicious, sinful little treat, but is like a real-food version of an egg mcmuffin! Simple and scrumptious! I love the girl that works the counter, she is so sweet and friendly, and knows what I want as soon as I come through the door.

Yelp
I've had all of their hamburgers and for the price I can't complain. My absolute favorite is definitely the bacon avocado cheeseburger. The meat is seasoned well and compared to the run-of-the-mill fast food joint, it certainly tastes more homemade, which is a positive for me. The inside is a bit shabby and the tables can be a bit flimsy. I usually stop noticing after my first bite. Please check them out and enjoy yourself. The staff is friendly and try to get you on your away asap.

Yelp
The donuts are like .75 for the glazed, sugar and chocolate. I just brought 2 chocolates. It was ok but not soft. The service was fast. I went when I volunteer at the Asian Heritage.

Yelp
Today I was in need of a medicinal lunch after a late-ish night out, and I definitely found All Star Donuts and Burgers to be of high therapeutic value. It looked like a greasy spoon diner and donut shop, and thankfully that is exactly what it is. My treatment plan involved a mexi-coke, veggie burger with cheese, and fries. The fries were plentiful and the burger was of the standard generic veggie variety, my only complaint being that they didn't melt the cheese on the grill (it was just cold chillin' on top of the burger). Extra points for the inclusion of dill pickle slices. Highly restorative.

Yelp
Super nice staff. Working on a Sunday afternoon in that neighborhood? That cashier girl had the biggest smile and most cheerful voice. She even seemed to remember returning patron's names and orders.

Ebony S.

Yelp
Like most SF restaurants, All-Star Donuts has just added all of the extra fees and service charges that all small businesses, and restaurants, pay onto their customers. Per usual, the quality of service hasn't risen to match. I stopped in here in a pinch, and despite how turned off I was by the depressive atmosphere, and unfriendly employees, when I walked in. First, they let you know that in their minds everyone's a criminal, by having a plexiglass locked box with a hole cut out in the top, and a sign that says "Tips" right next to the cashier, who also takes the orders. I had to wait several minutes for her to finish up with other customers, before she could take mine. At no time did she make any effort to acknowledge my presence. When, she did take my order, she didn't offer any small talk, or make any conversation that made me feel as though she cared if I was there or not. My order, a bacon cheeseburger, fries, can of pop, $14! None of the food was organic, served by candlelight, or came with a charming lunch buddy. But, hunger called. They had no diet soda offerings. None. They are kept in a reach-in next to the counter. Important fact for later. I cannot stand onions. I ordered my burger without them. When, the burger arrived at my table, it had shredded lettuce. I knew, right then, there were going to be onion mixed in with that lettuce. I told the person that brought the burger about the soda, because she was acting as a server in my mind. She let me know that I could get it myself! Really? I never tip until after I've finished eating. I got to the counter, and had the tip in my hand, because I wanted the cashier to see it, when I spoke with her. She came over, and I told her about the onion on the burger. I mentioned that for the price of my meal, the food should have been perfect. In the old days, the person would have apologized, and asked me to give them another try. This is a place that makes money despite itself. She said nothing. In fact, she acted annoyed that I complained about their mistake, and walked away while I was talking! I'm not sure, how so many people are giving this place good reviews, unless everything went perfectly with their orders. Also, people who dine out should remember, these people are now making $15/hr. plus tips!

Yelp
haven't been here in months but i used to live down the street and sometimes i miss how good their burgers and fries were... and soo cheap. this place is a great deal and for food of pretty good quality. I can't speak for the bacon, but the burgers are MUCH higher quality than any of the other Allstar franchises in the city. The breakfasts are a great deal too. Also, according to my friend mat, it is the best place to people-watch in San Francisco.
google avatar

Karin M.

Yelp
Great Cheese Burgers... Place is packed during lunch time with people eating all kinds of grub. They are reasonably priced compared to other places in the area with good food. I eat here regularly and highly recommend it.

J. D.

Yelp
The donuts I had tasted pretty good, but it was a very sketchy neighborhood. Didn't know much about SanFran when I came, so I checked out the highest rated donut shop in the vicinity of my hotel. I would not make the mistake of going here again. It was a bright sunny day and I still didn't feel safe. If you're just looking for a good donut, go someplace else. If you want sketchy experience to go with the donut, this would be your spot.

April M.

Yelp
I got quick confirmation that they make their own donuts but was then dismissively told "I don't know" when I ask what is used to fry them. I just wanted to know if it's oil or lard. I'd happily visit again if I were told they use oil.
