How Seattle Butcher Kristina Glinoga Is Reimagining Butchery | Eater Seattle

"Named among the excellent local farms that Glinoga connects her students to, Alluvial Farms is presented as part of a network of producers—many BIPOC and/or women-owned—that underpin her emphasis on ethical sourcing." - Stacy Nguyen

We love Alluvial Farms. Over the past two years, we have purchased from them on multiple occasions and have experienced superior quality throughout the entire process. It is good to know the farmers who raise the food that you eat. And it's even better to know farmers who care so deeply for their work, land, and animals. To sum it up: support your local farmers, especially these local farmers.

We toured the farm last summer and brought home some samples. We don't eat a lot of meat because of the way the industry typically treats its animals and the environment. But Alluvial Farms is doing a commendable job. Great folks and impressive products. The chops and roasts are memorable! Thanks! Update -- If you are mourning the out-of-stock bacon, try the sliced pork belly (same cut, not processed). Salt and pepper generously and fry slowly for 8 or 10 minutes periodically pouring off fat for future use. When crisp, pour a couple of teaspoons of maple syrup into the pan with the pork and swirl around until everything is sticky. You will wish you made more.

Very nice pumpkins, happy looking pigs, nice folks, and from what I can tell from their yard signs and website, values of environmental stewardship that I am happy to support! Everything I was looking for in a pumpkin patch!

We had a wonderful ham from Alluvial with the family for Easter this year. We drive by all the time and see their happy pigs feasting on pumpkins and fava beans. The ham was so delicious. I don't know how to describe it, you'll just have to try it. Thanks for making Easter a hit with the fam this year!

I recently picked up my second quarter pig share. Why? Because this is the most delicious pork I have had in years! It is tender, juicy and sweet. I actually have not tasted pork this scrumptious since I was a kid, and I'm 70 years old now. My husband says it's the best bacon he has ever tasted...and I agree. Try this pork! You will not be disappointed! And Katie and Matthew are wonderful.

A warning, if you get addicted to really tasty food, this pork will get you hooked. When I go to the grocery store, I walk right by the pork section. It doesn't matter if it is less expensive. It just isn't as good. My first test was a simple chop browned then broiled with garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. It was the pork of my childhood on the farm, firm, clean and full of umami. The cuts are well processed. The bones make great broth. It turns out doing it right also tastes better. Oh, and the service was great too.

Katie and Matthew are responsible, accountable, hard working, and super passionate about what they do! My family loves their bacon, links, chops, roasts, lard and just about everything they produce. When I cook their product's for friends, everyone says, "This is the best ___(fill in cut of meat here) I have ever had"! Support a sustainable family run business and invest in your health and folks that raise and harvest animals humanly and with respect.

Delicious pork raised by a kind family. Health of the animals and land are top priorities at Alluvial. A USDA certified mobile processing unit comes to the farm for harvest days. This detail shows the dedication to the animals quality of life and contributes to a great final product. Meat you can feel good about eating!
