"The West Seattle vegan dining scene is off to a good start in 2021. New restaurant Allyum — from restaurant industry vets Dahli Strayer and Ally Rael — opened for brunch on New Year’s Day at 2940 SW Avalon Way with a menu dedicated to plant-based foods and gluten-free fare. Among some of the offerings to start off are lentil “meatballs,” carrot lox Benedicts, mushroom fried “chicken” and waffles with smoky maple, and a roasted cauliflower gumbo. Rael tells Eater Seattle that, though the menu is primarily vegan, there are plans to serve eggs from ethically-raised chickens and some oysters and mussels, eventually. In the meantime, the two owners will highlight local produce in its brunch and dinner dishes. “We are not big fans of the overuse of fake processed meat replacements, so pretty much everything we offer will be made in house,” she says. Both Strayer (the opening owner of West Seattle’s Luna Park Cafe) and Rael (who worked at popular LA restaurant Little Prince, as well as the Whale Wins, Staple and Fancy, and Damn the Weather in Seattle) have been working on the project for a full year. While the pandemic certainly impacted the timing (not to mention all the issues with the West Seattle bridge closure), Allyum was able to forge ahead during the current stage of COVID restrictions. The restaurant is focused on takeout for now, since dining rooms are closed until at least January 11, but the owners are ready to make adjustments during an ever-shifting landscape. “We have decided to do a counter service hybrid where you order before seating, but still get great service at your table,” Rael says. Booze-wise, Allyum has a couple of daily wine options, as well as bloody marys and mimosas for brunch, and plans on rolling out a full cocktail, wine, and beer list as soon as things get settled. Like other restaurants in the city, there will also be a retail market, featuring snacks and other pantry items. “We are also going to focus on homemade breads and pastas,” says Rael. “During the shutdown, the menu will be more simple and appropriate to eat in a car on the way home.” The restaurant’s hours are Wednesday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m, with a Saturday brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Gabe Guarente

We had an amazing experience dining here! We saw all the hype for this restaurant and had to try it for ourselves. We ordered “fire the menu”, which was wonderful. Highly recommended, and easily splittable with leftovers. From ordering drinks to desert being served, the service was great. Definitely one of the best vegan restaurants in Seattle.

Allyum is Amazing!!! Beautiful Space, friendly people, exciting menu options, delicious coffee, and awesome food. The place smells amazing when you walk in and the menu options are intriguing and accomodating, whether you have specific dietary requirements or not. Everything on the menu is plant based, & the gluten free, soy free, and nut free options are clearly labeled. They make their dishes from scratch and all the food and drinks we tried were phenomenal. Extra points for the extra crispy herbed breakfast potatoes, house-made coconut yogurt, and the best marmalade I've ever had. A must stop if you're in Seattle. Will definitely be back often.

Super nice staff and delicious food! The people working there were so kind and happy to greet and serve us. Got the biscuits and gravy, and the chickpea omelette for brunch. Both were great! The potatoes that came with the biscuits were really crispy, and the omelette was good with a great texture. The restaurant itself is very clean and cozy, and it's order at the counter so it's very casual as well. Indoor and outdoor seating, and the tables are spread out from each other comfortably.

Fantastic little vegan place that I just happen to be near when my partner and I were getting her hair done had a nearby salon. Got the chili con queso and the fajitas. Got limeade for a drink that was very refreshing.

Very impressed with this place! The food is so flavorful and creatively put together. This is the carrot benny with a side of crispy potatoes. Love the hints of dill in the salad and the seasoning on the potatoes. The “egg” is avocado! Will definitely be back to try more.

The food was delicious! The mushroom reuben and carrot lox were fantastic, along with the coffee cake. The location is very cute, and we can't wait to eat here in person.

We had a wonderful vegan, gluten free brunch here. The Benedict was delightful, though I was disappointed that the gluten free option just replaced the English muffin with a lettuce leaf, especially since it already came with a large salad. But the fabulous carrot lox and delectable Hollondaise made it a wonderful dish anyways. The potatoes were also amazing. The photos show the dishes after I'd already eaten half of them, so there was plenty of food!
