This is an amazing gem in Compton! A friend gifted me some flowers from Alma Backyard Farms and I finally got to check out. The farm is located behind a church and you can tell it's been created and maintained with tons of love and care. You can find some fruits and veggies grown at farm,, pick up some flowers and bread, along with other things like spices and oils. They have brunch twice a month, we got chilaquiles with and without meat that were great, along with some refreshing aguas. Lastly, you get to sit down and enjoy yourself while you eat and/or can also have the kids run around in a huge play area. This is both a family friendly and community friendly place. Check them out!

Yelp
Everything about this place is amazing and soul healing. This is how communities support each other and thrive, not just survive. The produce is amazing and fairly priced. The partner vendors add value and quality additions to the market. Breakfast tacos are amazing as is the chiliquilles. This place resets the vibes for the whole week, from their mission of second and fair chances at life to community love to connection with nature. Everyone is positive, kind, and all in on the mission. This place is about dignity and respect.

Yelp
My first visit to Alma Backyard Farm was truly a delight. It was love at first sight! The staff there were very friendly, super informed, and seemed thrilled to help. I had to set myself a very strict budget to not purchase literally everything they have because it's all amazing. I love that they not only sell quality produce, but also have goods made from said produce and offer brunch. I had the Carne Asada, chicken, and potato tacos, and they were fantastic. They were even better when adding the housemaid salsa, particularly the garden salsa. I could eat those every day. I'm excited to make visiting the farm of monthly tradition to get a taste of everything that they sell.

Yelp
Sunday brunch! The atmosphere is calming and I absolutely love this place. When in need for fresh fruits and veggies. This is where you should go. The farm fun and vibrant with all amazing staff. Parking is tricky, but there's plenty free parking on the streets. You just have to find a spot and walk over. The farm is next-door to a church so don't you do like me and go there the first time? When you walk in, it's a big area for children to play and enjoy themselves. As you work further along, you will see the crops growing around the farm. Further up, there is a area where you purchase food to eat, which is called Sunday brunch.. It consist of tacos meat fresh to order along with handmade salsa, pickled onions and other fresh ingredients. I recommend placing your order first before purchasing your produce.. once you place your order they'll call your name takes about maybe 20 minutes depending on how busy it is. Meanwhile, you can head over and check out the fruits and vegetables they have on display . It's usually someone greeting you to help you if you have any questions.. As you walk further, there's free coffee. There is also an area to buy bread and flowers and fresh juices. . Usually there's a station where you can purchase stones and other cool items. Finally, you would go to the checkout area and stand in line. I'm usually talking to someone while I'm going through before I check out and leave. .. If you choose to stay, there's plenty of room tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy. It's one of my favorite Sunday times. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Don't forget to bring your own bags .

Yelp
If you have never been to the farm, do yourself a favor and go. There is a wide variety of produce and other items. Check Instagram to see what items they're selling, it varies. The people are super nice and very helpful.

Yelp
Good produce, helpful staff, good parking, free coffee!!! Also, great seating and nice folks in pretty comfy outdoor chairs. Less dystopian street drive so this was a great way to spend a post early mass morning!

Yelp
Amazing space of beauty in landscape and purpose. Well kept vegetable fields. Warm, friendly and loving staff and community. Made to order tacos, delicious plant based drinks from the garden, and other food options. Picnic tables and well groomed space make it a pleasant place to gather with friends. An unexpected gem in the South Bay.

Yelp
Alma Backyard Farms is a non-profit organization employing those who have been formerly incarcerated; centering community empowerment and restorative justice at the forefront of their initiatives. Every first and third Sunday of the month, they host a Farmer's Market aiming to supply the local community with fresh fruits and vegetables to combat food insecurity. The farm is located in Compton adjacent to a school and a church. I stopped by today for their Kamayan Feast at the Farm celebrating Filipino American History Month (FAHM) and honoring the Filipino migrants who paved the way for so many. There was a great turn out with a DJ, sports activities, and of course fresh and amazing food for the community. Special shoutout to Uncle Dennis who is a farm hand. We would not know about this amazing organization and the impactful work they do if it were not for them employing him. Be on the lookout on their IG and website for upcoming community events! Come stop by to support a great cause that is transforming the local Compton community in such a positive way. Make sure to say whatsup to Uncle Dennis as well!

Yelp
3/5/23 Urban farming in the middle of Compton! Support local farmers/vendors every other Sunday 8am-1 pm I was fortunate enough to tag along with my bro, test driving the Car of the Future-Faraday Future FF91. It's a triple treat: hanging out with my brother, visiting on the farms, riding in the car of the future. Life is an endless realm of possibilities!! The farm started with the crew's huddle right before 8am-inspirational! Bro & I checked out the farm & see what's growing: broccoli, radish, kale. Collard green, glowers & herbs. Bought a couple of bouquets & some raisin rolls. It's always so positively awesome after coming by & embracing nature's harvest, meeting the crew. Kudos to Richard, Mario & Mando-such friendly people. Highly recommend this place, it's small but big on freshness & customer service!!

Yelp
I've heard about this place via social media and word of mouth. I finally had the chance to check it out. Here was my experience. AMBIANCE: Parking | I accidentally parked in the school/church but there is street parking! Feels | Nothing flashy, just in your usual grit and grind area of Compton. It is next to a church and school so it relatively felt safe for the most part. The place itself is beautiful. The artificial turf field was clean and impressive. The field of plants were well organized and looking pretty healthy. There's great places to just sit down and just be. The produce was limited but had the staple needs (kale, orange, baked goods, flowers, etc). CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fantastic! Everyone was friendly and personable Irene, Awin (Spell check), Dennis, and Richard. I appreciate my interactions with them. OVERALL: 5 Stars. Fantastic! Steady selections, good people, and a pleasant experience. There needs to be more places like this, not only for their products but their purpose, especially in these low socio-economic status areas. Advice: * Check their website for updates/events/and other locations https://www.almabackyardfarms.com/ * OG spot is in East Los Angeles.

Yelp
Beautiful space. All the produce is organic. Enjoyed the lunch tacos they had that day. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! It was really awesome seeing so many young do gooders helping the community! They were orderly, patient and friendly. We were in line before 8 as the posted time was 8a -1pm. It was an outside air market which was very fresh feeling and crisp with the brisk morning air. The bags were already prepared as volunteers greeted us with welcoming. Words and smiles. Folks stayed in lines at a few different stations and moved in An orderly fashion to a market of fresh grown vegetables and fruits, to a few baked goods and drinks and to the check out area to pay for what they bought from the market. First 50 folks also got a free organic frozen chicken. My family is grateful and nephews are excited about their books.

Yelp
We go for the ambiance.. vibes... welcoming smiles and oh yeah the produce... and the grocery items like bread and the smoothies!!! Place an order for a yummy vegan entree and take a seat on their brunch food service days and enjoy yourself. It's so good to come here. There's also a huge open play space as you come in so check that out when going with children or physically active humans of any age. Housekeeping: Street parking and porta potties.

Yelp
Good morning, our family finally was able to make it. The entire team was great, friendly and resourceful. Glad that we were able to grab a few fresh items.

Yelp
Wow all these years I've been living around the corner from this garden paradise. Very peaceful and beautiful ambiance. Just imagine a huge beautiful garden with folks chilling listening to music, reading, shopping or maybe even socializing while their children were playing on the tree swing or maybe playing with someone's pet duck and the really cool rabbit. Loved this. Now my seasonings come from William Sonoma but let me introduce you to Laurel Martin a gourmet chef whom just happened to be on site this week and almost every week. Now if she is not there we'll the good news is that her spices are. I will post video if her and her husband introducing their line of ingredients. Her samples were so full of flavor, and her seasonings will be a new addition to my kitchen. On down the line , I'm not sure if you know but I met a young man by the name of Axel, this was nothing but God well the back story is I was a cancer patient that did not believe in chemotherapy and a client of his by the name of Cheryl helped me with the RSO with that being said I'm cancer free people. CBD is the best. Please stop in at his booth and support, he had all types of products for all types of problems, and even for your lil furry friends too. Next booth homemade soaps that were beautifully crafted and with purchase you even get a free pack of loofah seeds to grow and make your own soap with loofah attached. I WAS SO AMAZED while walking in this beautiful paradise that was in my own community. Now I brought some salted chocolate chippers Jesus Christ must have blessed those cookies and that homemade lemon grass Tea. I telling you please support and I heard that if you want to either donate maybe even help with the expansion or up keep with this location or maybe other, just go to www.AlmaBackyardFarms.com and reach out. During this pandemic she really come in handy with organic options, you can even request fresh cut herbs for a nice hot tea or even sprinkles of lavender in your warm bath along with your purchase or organic soap. Shouts out to my neighbor Ricky for his Facebook post
