We went to Alma for breakfast and although ot was a very limited menu, everything was delightful. The service was great, the drinks were tasty and plenty of parking and seats available when we went. I ordered the Avocado toast, my friend had the chilaquiles with rib eye.

Google
We honestly stumbled across this place but thank goodness we did as it ended up being one of the greatest meals we've had all year, if not ever! I only took photos of two of the dishes we ordered but every dish was a knockout. The peach crudo was vibrant, juicy, balanced with just the right amount of heat. The grilled octopus was beautifully smoky, tender, and sat on a pataie puree. All of the staff made us (and our dog) feel so welcomed! Love love loved this place!

Google
This has to be hands down the best food I’ve had in a long time maybe even the best food I’ve ever had. When looking at the menu, everything looks so simple but wow they truly put thought into every ingredient going in to the dish. I had the burrito Alma- I thought it would be very basic but this is the best burrito I’ve had in my entire life! My husband had the taco suadero, taco ensenada and ceviche cuixmala and we would rate all of it 10/10. I think the ingredients are what makes this place what it is- everything tastes SO fresh

Several weeks ago, I ordered takeout from Alma and was highly disappointed. I reached out to them privately to explain the situation, but they have not responded to my message; hence, I am writing this here. I ordered veggie tacos and a side of beans. It was $37 (food plus an 18% tip), and I ordered at around 5:00 pm. It said 40-50 minutes. I arrived a little after 6 to pick up my food. The food wasn’t ready, so I waited. I went back in to ask to add some guacamole and salsa to my order. The person working at the time was dismissive and immediately thought I was coming in to ask about my order timing. Then I paid another $19 for guacamole and salsa, plus a tip. It took another 20 minutes to get my food. At this point, I had waited about an hour and a half. There were about 4-5 other parties there when I arrived and left. I was severely disappointed by the tacos when I opened them at my house. The “veggie” tacos were two tortillas with little more three potatoes on each. As someone who doesn’t eat meat and paid $50+ for a vegetarian meal, this is quite sad. I have eaten at Alma before, and they have always provided great service and delicious food. This is my first time ordering takeout. I have never contacted a restaurant for service, questioned the quality of food, or left a negative Yelp review because I understand that the restaurant industry and work can be very challenging, especially in Montecito with demanding clients. Yet, this is unfortunate, and I hope they can do better for future customers.

Google
Excellent lunch. I’ve eaten here several times and it’s always delicious. The tuna tostada is always good but today I tried their burrito and a bowl of guacamole. I cleaned the plate. I could drink a pitcher of the hibiscus ice tea

Google
Not one to typically leave a review, but this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Friendly staff, great variety on the menu, and seriously good food. Went as a group of 5, ordered lots of different things, and everything we got was fantastic. I would list off our favorite items but all 8 things we got were delicious.

Google
Alma Fonda Fina is something special. Montecito can be a tough crowd- fussy people with more basic tastes. This is not your typical restaurant and I don’t think the neighborhood truly grasps how lucky they are to have it. The dishes here are so creative and really pack a punch- we got nearly everything on the dinner menu with our larger group, and the variety was incredible. Their halibut ceviche with passion fruit and grapefruit wasn’t like anything I’d ever had before. The Baja-style fish tacos were another favorite of ours, and so was the ribeye chicharron (our second time getting it, it doesn’t disappoint). And their house made tortillas just melted in our mouths - it was all truly authentic and presented beautifully. The service was solid and consistent, great recommendations and evenly paced. This is probably one the best restaurants in the Santa Barbara area at the moment. There is magic happening in this kitchen, it’s not to be missed!

Google
What a hidden gem! Service and the presentation of the dishes were simply stunning, and the taste was outstanding - guacamole and ceviche were tasty and refreshing, and the tamal de pato was hearty and flavorful. The ribeye taco was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the doradito taco was crispy and satisfying. The sopa de pollo was a comforting and flavorful soup, and when we thought we were full, the main Carne Asada dish arrived. It was so tender and juicy that it disappeared in a few minutes. The side mashed potato was prepared to perfection, with a creamy texture that reminded us of cream cheese. Definitely coming back, strongly recommended!

Yelp
Our server was super friendly and accommodating. She was well versed on the menu and specials. She know what to recommend and I enjoyed her suggestions. I ordered the old fashioned and it was very good. I enjoyed their herbal twist on it. I believe it has star anise. We ordered the guacamole and it was delicious. I enjoyed the chips and salsa (the salsa comes in tiny ramekins so kinda have to eat it with caution otherwise you'll run out!). We ordered the tacos (delish!), chicharrones (delish!), and crudos. The ambiance is welcoming and cozy. I recommend this place :)

Yelp
We went to Alma for breakfast and although ot was a very limited menu, everything was delightful. The service was great, the drinks were tasty and plenty of parking and seats available when we went. The place was cute in a small shopping shopping center. I ordered the Avocado toast, my friend had the chilaquiles with rib eye.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best original meals I've had in Santa Barbara. Went here with my team during a work trip and we all were so excited to try all the unique items from the Alma Fonda Fina team. Each item that came out was a 5/5 with presentation and flavor Highlights were the tequila cocktails, tuna tostada and fresh guacamole The ambiance was light and harkened back to the Mexican roots of the cuisine. Service staff was attentive and welcoming. If you're in Montecito/SB definitely add this spot to foodie finds list to try!

Yelp
Don't walk, run. The food here is divinely inspired. Best ceviche I've ever had in my life. But you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Yelp
Stopped at Alma for a drink and a small bite. This place was quaint and quiet. My girlfriend and I sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed a classic margarita with mezcal. Loved it! Definitely hit the spot! Ordered a few tacos: sweet potato (surprisingly tasty, and not sweet) and a asada taco which was delicious! A side of guacamole and some Oaxacan style tlayudas. I enjoyed this place with my company.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my food here. The refried beans tasted lighter and healthier; serving portion was perfect. I also had a taste of the wagyu beef brisket taco and that one's a must try! Service was excellent! Unfortunately, I didn't get his name but he was very helpful and chatty. Love the interior and exterior of this place. We opted for the outdoor seating since we had our dog with us.

Yelp
Our poor server Omar was working the entire restaurant by himself-- hostess, server, food runner, busser, expo-- there was literally no one else front of house except him on a busy Saturday at lunch. He probably had 12 tables seated at one point and he did everything with a smile on his face. Food was good, as well, kudos to whoever was in the kitchen. We had a kid's quesadilla, Caesar salad, huevos rancheros, and guacamole; all were satisfying. The arroz con leche not so much-- dry and bland. For such a severely understaffed restaurant, they did a fantastic job not showing it. Five stars for Omar.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I had a hair appointment next door so stopped in for a quick lunch with my husband. The restaurant was basically empty at 1:30pm on a Friday when we dined. Service was great! This seemed like a locals place as it's in Montecito, not downtown. We got the guacamole to start and shared the branzino and tacos. I was so excited to see breakfast tacos in the menu! I added beef to my breakfast tacos it was so tasty! I'm still thinking about it! The branzino was so good! It came with rice and tortillas. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Santa Barbara and highly recommend!

Yelp
I want to thank my friend Melissa L and her mom for inviting me to experience this divine place . OMG the food was absolutely delicious. Melt in your mouth yumminess. The drinks were strong and so good! Ricardo and Alex had the best customer service . So welcoming and attentive! Alma has such a cute and cozy interior. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Yes it is a little pricier compared to other Mexican spots but ingredients are fresh and local. Who says Mexican food needs to be " cheap" why is it only Italian food, Japanese or etc that can be pricier. Alma offers elevated Mexican food and prepares it with high quality ingredients that are not "cheap." I just wish people would get rid of the idea that Mexican cuisine is "cheap." Mexican cuisine is protected by UNESCO, one of the only cuisines to be protected in its entirety. It's is one of the richest cuisines and many ingredients are pricey. Chef Ramon and Chef Alan, thank you for the amazing food you are preparing! I will def be back !

Yelp
Alma was a mixed experience for us. We shared the branzino (mole verde/pistachio) and butternut squash enchiladas. We loved the fish. The enchiladas were just ok, nothing exceptional to write home about, and too spicy for my mom, but they came with no warning regarding the spice. The salad that came with the fish was extremely salty, and when we initially told the staff about it, nothing was done to correct the error. The servers all appeared to be college students, well intentioned, but not well trained. The menu wasn't well explained to us, as would be expected at a higher end spot such as this, and when there were things wrong with our order, we had to push to talk to a higher up. We also had to keep asking for water, our cups were constantly empty and never filled up. Eventually the chef came out when we were done with our food and offered to let us try both desserts on the menu to rectify the situation. We greatly appreciated this gesture. The arroz con leche was excellent, but the cheesecake was just ok. One last thing- I understand a spot like this probably doesn't have enough space to fry their own chips, but the crackers that came with the salsas tasted bland and almost stale. Would recommend providing an alternative to this. Presentation of the food is great, and the space is nice.

Yelp
Alma Fonda Fina is another outstanding restaurant chef Ramon Velazquez has opened up in the Montecito area. A well deserved Michelin Gourmand winner and same owner as Corazon. This beautiful restaurant is quaint and cozy. I love the seating and clean yet chic design. On my visit, we were a party of 3 and kindly seated by Reece who tended to us throughout our dining experience. He was great at giving recommendations and answering questions we had about the menu. For cocktails, I chose the Agualmente. Made with Sabe Blanco, avocado, tomatillo, lime and chili ash. Strange combo of ingredients, but I had to try it. First sip was a wow factor! The flavor of tomatillo is there, but not overpowering. This drink is not only beautiful with the vibrant green color, but it was enjoyable. Trust me order it. The lavanderia topped with a lavender infused foam was another drink that I enjoyed. The presentation was so pretty! Soapy looking bubbles were a show stopper. The Barbarella is another unique cocktail mixed with red bell pepper and persimmon tomato. A very light and refreshing cocktail that my friend ordered. I had a sip and it was good! For food, we shared a variety of things on the menu, which is the way to go. We started with chef Ramon's famous ceviche cuixmala. A very light and refreshing ceviche made with halibut and a gorgeous presentation. I loved the tangy passion fruit seeds! It really added something different than a regular ceviche. The tuna Tartar was another starter that literally melted in my mouth and was perfectly presented. This is made with bluefin tuna. I highly recommend trying the tacos Suadero! The Wagyu brisket is tender and full of flavor. It almost reminded me of chicharon. I'm drooling just thinking about it. If you come here with a few people in your party who love seafood, then you must try the Branzino. The moment it arrived at our table my mouth dropped. The presentation was amazing, the taste was amazing and overall this was my favorite. If you have room for dessert, then try the arroz con leche. I loved how subtly sweet it was, making this very enjoyable. My compliments to chef Alan, who was working his magic throughout the night serving up some amazing dishes. I can't wait to come back here to try their brunch menu. There's so much more to say, but my review is already lengthy enough. Bottom line, bookmark this place! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I will be dreaming about my meal here at Alma Fonda Fina. It's rare for me to find a restaurant that checks every box but this spot does. The decor, ambiance, menu, cocktails, food and service were A+. This will definitely be one of my go to restaurants on this side of town and I'm already mentally planning when to come back lol. Hopefully with some more friends! Speaking of friends kudos to Jara S. for highlighting this restaurant on Yelp and getting me intrigued enough to want to add it to the roster. Then I had a non-Yelp friend also suggest this restaurant as she came two weeks ago and I knew the deal was sealed. So happy I came and it's as good as everyone says. The decor and ambiance here are absolutely lovely. I love the pops of Hot pink that bring this place to life. The pink backboard for the booths is genius. The bar display was also very appealing and just gives this spot a fun bright vibe. Came in on a Saturday for lunch with reservations but being a holiday weekend it wasn't busy. I was told by a gal nearby that this restaurant has been getting busy so while we didn't need our reservation the day we came I would still recommend it to be on the safe side. The menu here is perfection. Both the cocktails and the mains looked so fantastic it was really hard to pick when everything sounded so good. Hopefully they keep this menu as it's a really good one. The prices are a little higher on some dishes but the meal is 100% worthy of their price point. And even with saying that, the serving sizes were pretty large that some dishes actually seem like a deal for the $$. For cocktails I'd highly recommend their Alma Spritz. Think aperol spritz but 10x better with their whipped foam on top. Also another hit was the lavendaria cocktail - visually so cool - just order it to see for yourself. Local Mexican beer also hit the spot and was a great pairing with my meal. The cocktails and alcohol selection here are 5/5. The food is also out of this world. I can't stop thinking about the ceviche I had here. Probably one of my top 5 bites I've had this year! That's a big statement to make. The halibut was super fresh and generous portions on the fish. Loved the coconut broth as well as the passionfruit and jamica inside omg trust me just get this. This dish is magazine worthy and so pretty. Other favorites of the day were the carne asada plate, ribeye tacos, and octopus tacos. There wasn't a bad bite. Tacos were large in their proteins and paired with rice and beans it's plenty filling. The plates are also just really pretty and well prepared. My hat off to the chef and kitchen team for knocking out such fabulous dishes. Lastly, the service was beyond fantastic! Our server and bartender was Richardo and he brought the best vibes. He was super knowledgeable on the menu and offered great suggestions. He was attentive and just super kind and friendly throughout our meal. Everyone at my table thought he was great. Service is everything sometimes and the vibes were just really good here. Also a shoutout to Alex who was so lovely as well. He ensured our water glasses were always filled and he removed plates as needed. These two gentlemen serving us today made what was already an excellent experience an outstanding one. Don't sleep on this restaurant as it's going to be a hit! They have only been open a few months but I think once even more word gets out this place will be poppin. You can't beat the wonderful customer service, delicious food and stellar drinks. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious authentic food. Tortillas for tacos made with heirloom masa. Amazing salsas. The mole enchiladas are the best I've ever had. Ever!! Even the rice was so delicate with roasted pasilla chiles. But know this is authentic. None of the canned sauces or premade anything. Don't confuse this cuisine with a chain restaurant level of food. This is elevated Mexican cuisine. It's a perfect place to stop for lunch and sit in the charming Montecito country mart. Service was attentive and friendly. If you come for dinner, be sure to reserve a table.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful. The service is spectacular and the food is delicious, and the cocktails are spectacular, but overpriced! We went during the soft opening and was excited as I love dining at the other restaurants by Chef Ramon. We shared the ceviche which was more on the sweeter and tart side as it has a combination of coconut milk and passion fruit. Perfect for a warm afternoon. The huarache de hongos ( mushrooms). This is chalked full of flavor. The taco saudero is by far the best taco I have had. Order more than one. The cocktails are refreshingly made with juices and sabe blanco. They also have a selection of beers and wine to choose from. The reasoning for the 3 stars is the price point of the menu for the items and despite the service being spectacular, more training is needed for the servers on food handling and placing drinks on the table.

Yelp
Great service and excellent food! I highly recommend this spot for tasty & unique offerings. The waiter took time to explain all the details of the exceptional menu and my experience far exceeded my expectations.

Yelp
Ordered the breakfast burrito to go. Online ordering systems said it would take 70-90 minutes for a pick up order which I thought was crazy considering it was an off time and I was ordering one single item. I ordered anyway and got to the restaurant within 20 mins and it was ready and the restaurant was mostly empty. So, maybe they need to update the online ordering system because that wait time almost made me cancel the order. As for the burrito, it was okay. On the smaller side and I think I got two pieces of potato. It was mostly an egg bacon burrito with some veggies at the bottom. I heard good things about this place so I was expecting more. Maybe I will try again though!

Joey P.

Yelp
I'm surprised they don't have a line around the corner for their breakfast burritos. This heavenly burrito houses the fluffiest eggs, crispiest potatoes and perfectly crisped bacon. Hits all of the notes that a good brekky burrito should - plus the cup of crema provided for dipping is a chefs kiss. Omar and the morning crew were awesome and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Chef Alan is doing something special here...Alma Fonda Fina feels like the kind of spot you'd expect to find in LA, not tucked away in our own backyard. My fiancé and I had an incredible time. We ordered the enchiladas, tacos suadero, and a few of Chef's specialties -- everything was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. To top it off, we had the chance to chat with Chef Alan Alba after our meal, which made the whole experience even more memorable. Can't wait to come back!!!
google avatar

Edward L.

Yelp
I loved the service (lunch time) and the pulpo , ensenada an suadero tacos are sooo delicious, agua del dia was mango with passion fruit and my wife had a paloma rosa both also delicious. The place is expensive but also consider you are in Montecito, but i did noticed any plate you would need to pay extra for beans and rice and that's is unheard in any Mexican place, so i would never pay almost 50 dollars for an enchilada plate not even at Puyol in mexico city (Michelin star). I enjoyed my meal but unlikely we'll return

Esther J.

Yelp
The food was delicious the service awesome and the restaurant is very nice. Nice to have outside seating and the timeing was the perfect.
google avatar

Yelp
I just have to say congratulations to the chefs and team for executing such a perfect menu. I love every dish. So fresh and healthy with clean market ingredients. Some of the best Mexican food I've had in the US. I'm addicted to the chicken & bean soup but the quesadilla is the winner for me. My only request is that they serve more tacos and meat options at dinner time. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner. Ambiance nice, service friendly and attentive, food a little slow but many delicious items. Inside dining a bit noisy so patio may be preferred. Overall, enjoyed my meal with friends.

Yelp
Food is super fresh and melt in your mouth divine. Drinks are refreshing, smooth and beautiful. Service is also excellent. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The best breakfast burrito I have ever tried! It was so delicious we ordered one to go. The tuna tostada was amazing. I can't wait to come back here so I can try more of the items on the menu

Yelp
Just ate at Alma Fonda for the first time and it was fabulous--everything I had hoped for after reading all the other reviews. Our waiter Reece was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. He was extremely attentive. And Spencer delivered food to our table was so sweet and had the nicest smile! Everything was so flavorful and fresh. My favorite things were the endive salad, the fish tacos, the sweet potato enchiladas that comes with the most delicious buttery rice! And the manager Brandon ended up spending a lot of time talking with us at the end of our meal. He was wonderful.

Tom U.

Yelp
Have been twice and both times food was outstanding. The enchiladas with mole negro were fabulous (hard to find a great mole negro). The endive salad was very creative and delicious. They also had a great selection of wines from the Guadalupe Valley in Mexico including some from Casa de la Piedras, probably the most renowned of all wines from that area.

Caroline G.

Yelp
Great restaurant at Montecito country mart. Loved our meal, excellent service. We had a blast, enjoyed our experience, we'll be back.

Psalm K.

Yelp
SO GOOD! It is very beautiful and calm here. The guy taking care of us served so well from asking about allergies to recommendations he was amazing. The food is so yummy we finished EVERYTHING!
google avatar

Endless S.

Yelp
Always have great food here, the kitchen is delivering very well prepared dishes. Congratulations to the Chef who is appropriately creative and on the top of his game with also good seasonings, great pairing and good quality ingredients. Not the same level of attention to details from the front of the house. What experience are expecting you to give to your guests when you presenting to them menus that are torn, wrinkled, with grease and food stains ?! Really, it is the first impression you want to give from your place?!!! We are talking about the 101 of the hospitality industry here.

Yelp
Amazing fresh and flavorful dishes. Extremely excellent service. Enjoyable ambiance! Thank you for making my birthday in Santa Barbara a dream!!

Yelp
I dine at Alma once a month on my way to San Francisco and I order the same thing. Caesar Salad and I Pay for a side of their bread and butter. When my salad arrived two of the major ingredients were missing...the sourdough croutons and the pecorino cheese. It was lettuce and dressing. That's it. I politely brought it up to the waiter and his response was. "Since you ordered bread you do not need the croutons". I was so confused by him saying this. I pointed out that I am paying for bread and just because I order a side of bread does not mean you leave key ingredients out of the entree. He took the salad away, brought it back with cheese (thank you) and the salad now covered with chopped up bread. Not croutons...not crispy...not what we all know croutons to be....just chopped up bread. It would have been more curious to just say they are out of croutons or it will take a few minutes to crisp some up or our croutons are made from day old bread so I cannot make any. If I order a tortilla soup and a restaurant and also chips and salsa, the staff does not give me soup without tortilla strips and say " well you ordered chips so you do not need tortilla strips in your soup" I am not looking to drop your stars...leaving 5 stars anyway because I want to see you thrive and enjoy your food...perhaps some training on best responses when you are our of croutons :)

R L B.

Yelp
This is the gourmet Mexican restaurant that Santa Barbara has been missing so badly. The food and the service are both FABULOUS.!!!!!!
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Definitely elevated cuisine! Many small, delectable bites to share...mostly sushi grade seafood and lots of avocado. My favorite bite was the tuna tartar but my favorite was the eclectic Mexican wine menu. The dry gewerztrameiner was perfect with all of the dishes! Our server, Ashley was so attentive, knowledgeable and friendly as well.

Yelp
A bit pricey, but very very good! A foodie's version of Mexican restaurant. Clean and delicious.

Yelp
Ella is amazing. Food was great. Highly recommend coming here for any occasion. Oh, and the tortillas are so good
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
OMG the chorizo and ribeye tacos are divine. Absolutely the best taco I have ever had. The guacamole is excellent and extremely fresh. Service was excellent and the patio while facing the parking lot and the street is still pleasant. Would highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere. Customer service was even better. Ashlynn G helped us out and she was beyond impressive. I literally asked her what her name was to make sure management knows how good they have it. We were a family of 6 with 3 kids under 4 and she handled everyone and everything like a champ and was absolutely loved by our kids. We will definitely be back and ask for her. Thank you

Yelp
Stopped in for my first time tonight, looking for a quick bite to go and wow! Such a nice experience! It was not only beautiful and delicious food, it was also really great service! I had the Market Quesadilla and it was amazing. Fresh and vibrant flavors - what a taste treat! I will most definitely be back :-)
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome and unique restaurant!! Request Ella as a server, she is great and very professional. The food is amazing, it's nice for a group to eat as it is a shareable menu and makes for a great experience.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant with unique mexican flavor Great place to gather with family, and great place to have a creative mexican meal.
google avatar

Chad M.

Yelp
Amazing selection of Mezcal and the best Mole I've ever eaten. The food here is elevated yet approachable and surprisingly affordable given the quality of ingredients they use. Anyone reviewing this place with fewer than five stars is simply looking for attention.

W S.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this little gem. Authentic and savory. Nightly specials are always based on wonderfully fresh and seasonal ingredients. And wow! cocktails are to phenomenal. One bartender only makes them.
google avatar

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Highly recommend! The flavor of food is exceptional with relaxed, comfortable environment.

T G.

Yelp
I cannot begin to express how incredible this place is. Chef Alan truly outdid himself here. Everything is simply phenomenal. A few must gets: a glass of the gamay, guacamole, veggie enchiladas, tuna sashimi (they only have it sometimes!). Service is, of course, excellent. Will be returning again and again.

Yelp
What a treat to have a fresh, modern take on Mexican in montecito (especially over the endless Italian!) The food here is delicious and the service friendly and attentive. I do wish the dining room had better lighting at night, and that the tortilla chips were either hotter or saltier or something to make them standout. It's the first impression of the restaurant's food and they're bland / underwhelming. You're quickly corrected with the incredible tacos and I also love the tostadas (both tuna and scallop). I am really happy that this restaurant is in the country mart and I want to see it succeed.

First of all we were headed to a different resturant , but they were reservations only . We found "ALMA" THE SERVICE WAS GREAT ! THE FOOD EXCELLENT . BREEZE had a such a great Vibe ;-) made us feel welcomed . We had the soup , Chile negro shrimp , ribeye chicharron & mole enchiladas. To say the least , we cleaned our plates . Yelp
We had a large group of around 30, called ahead and the staff had us all set up. Pretty much took the place over and the staff didn't miss a beat!
