Alma Rosa Ranch House & Vineyard

We visited Alma Rosa winery for a company outing and did the 1 mile hike through the vineyard. The grounds were gorgeous and Wendy, our guide, was fantastic offering knowledge about the types of wine their winery produces as well as the history of the vineyard. We enjoyed a small glass m, or 2, at the top of the vineyard with panoramic views of the area. Back down at the main building, we enjoyed tastings of 3 different varietals of wine along with a charcuterie board of cheese, crackers and Marcona almonds. A fantastic time was had by all!

Once again, another outstanding wine tasting experience at the Alma Rosa ranch house. This time we added an excursion up into the vineyards, which was incredible and very much worth it on this beautiful, sunny, coolish day! Sienna was our guide; she did a fantastic job. As usual, the wines at Alma Rosa are amazing, which is why we are wine club members! The chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are among some of the better in the Santa Ynez valley. Also, don't sleep on the Solvang tasting room. We stopped by to pick up a few extra bottles on our way out of town, but looks like it would be a great place to sit and enjoy some of your favorites. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Cali!

I had an amazing experience from start to finish. Our host, Robert, reached out a few days before our reservation to introduce himself, ask a few questions, and explain what to expect, which immediately made us feel welcomed. On the day of our visit, he took incredible care of us and was extremely knowledgeable not only about Alma Rosa, but also about Central Coast wine history, winemaking, and vineyard operations. A few days after our appointment, Robert followed up to make sure we made it home safely from our trip and to thank us for coming out. I have honestly never received customer service like this before. While the prices are a bit higher than some wineries in the area, once you taste the wines, enjoy the food, and experience Robert’s level of hospitality, it all makes sense. We have traveled the world tasting wine, and this was truly one of the best wine experiences we have ever had. We were not able to do the vineyard tour due to weather, which gives us an easy reason to come back. We will absolutely be returning.

Wow I don't feel like I have the words to express how amazing our experience here was, but I will try my best. First and foremost, Sam was amazing. While the wine was absolutely Devine he was the main reason we had such a good experience. We were unaware that reservations were required, but even though we didn't have one and he was very busy, he was able to fit us in. Not only was he able to fit us in, he made our experience great. He served our party of 6 wonderfully even though he was busy with his reservations. This was especially impressive because he was the ONLY employee on-site. I'd rate his service at 10 out of 10 and I hope when we come back he serves us again. All of the wines he served us were delicious especially the Pinot Blanc which was probably the group's favorite. If you take anything away from this review, understand that this is a wonderful winery with scrumptious wines, an absolutely gorgous outside patio, and amazing service from Sam. Sam, if your reading this, thank you so much for hosting us, and I hope you get a well deserved raise and lots of good tips. We will absolutely be back!!!

My wife and I had an amazing experience. We were supposed to go on a Vineyard tour, but we got a call that rain would prevent us from going. We were a little upset about this and almost cancelled our reservations. But we ended up having the best time. Robert was our host and treated us like family (I highly recommend asking for him when you book your reservation). The inside of the little house felt like we were home for the holidays. I have worked in customer service my entire life and never experienced anything like this. Thank you, Robert. His coworker was also great (I think her name was Syana??). You can tell that her and Robert make a great team. Thank you again for making our anniversary amazing and for bringing us in like family. Oh... the wines are also great lol

We had an amazing time! This is not a typically tasting room. This is a one of a kind experience. It is one of the most peaceful experiences I have ever had. Our wine rep was Robert and he was amazing. He is new yet was one of the smartest people I have met in wine. He was so detailed and was so experienced. Thank you! I look forward to visiting again.

On the day that we visited the El Jabali estate vineyard, hawks wheeled overhead in crystal blue skies.  White cloud pillows shone in the sun above lush hills covered with shamrock-green vines.  Mustard flowers and tall grasses waved in the coastal breeze that coursed through the Sta. Rita Hills.  It was a stunning reminder that the sweeping grounds of Alma Rosa have revealed the pleasures of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for decades--at least to those in the know. In our case, we were with the most knowledgeable tour guides that a genie in a bottle could have conjured up for us.  We were visiting Alma Rosa thanks to the coordination of hostess Rebekah, who had timed our Caracol hike to coincide with the vineyard manager's schedule.  We were shown the locations of every clone of red and white that graced the concentric rows of vines, snaking out in a snailshell pattern from the path upon which we walked.  On hands and knees, the manager cut through a canopy of leaves so that we could see the clusters of Chardonnay berries in development--tiny in size but mighty in promise.  Upon reaching the tabletop at the zenith of our walk, our two guides patiently answered questions from our studious group members who had been learning the biological and chemical aspects of winemaking.  They told us all about how they utilized the water retention of the loam soils upon which we stood for dry farming, embraced the dynamics involved with aging wine in barrel and bottle, and revered the renowned legacy of founder Richard Sanford.  When we eventually tasted the Caracol Pinot Noir, characteristic of the cool climate region with spicy flavors and full-on berry sweetness, it was a moment to be treasured and remembered. The trip was something akin to a dreamt fantasy scene.  Just as we sometimes forget to notice the natural beauty that surrounds us, a simple change in elevation can light up our eyes.  The experience defied expectations of what a wine tasting should be.  Being at the estate gave us a new lens through which to view this place we inhabit.  Without a doubt, your own journey with Rebekah at the Ranch will explain how one vineyard can embody the heart and soul of something so extensive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Caracol Hike experience. The vineyards are stunningly beautiful and our host, Wendy, is so gracious and such a delight to talk to. The wines are amazing too!
