"A small, charming restaurant occupying a historic building in the old quarter of Cádiz, next to the Plaza de España park, the latter home to the monument to the 1812 constitution. Juan Carlos Borrell, for several years a pupil of award-winning Valencian chef Ricard Camarena from whom it is said he learnt how to cook rice to absolute perfection, showcases cuisine that avoids unnecessary frills to concentrate on safeguarding traditional Cádiz recipes and maximising flavour. Possibly the best Bib Gourmand restaurant I have ever visited. Amazing service and wine and the food was to die for. The eggs with cuttlefish bottarga, tuna cheeks, lamb paella and polea dessert were beyond perfect and I could not recommend this restaurant more highly. I regret this being my last evening in Cadiz. Simply wow!

We had a superb meal here. All the dishes were amazing but the rice deserves special praise - a wonderful piece of cooking. The wines by the glass were also very good. Id recommend booking. The waiter was very helpful and spoke good English .

A relatively small, stylish restaurant. The menu choice was a little limited but the food quality was very good. Jesus was extremely welcoming and his service was excellent. An idea break from the hustle and bustle of the tapas bars on a Saturday evening.

I can subscribe to some of the mediocre reviews the restaurant got here. Having trusted in the Guide Michelin restaurant recommendations, we came here, only to find food that wasn't to our taste. The cod main was way too salty, non of the starters were worth mentioning. The fried cauliflower was good but not exceptional in any way. Altogether a rather disappointing experience, given the expectations we had. The meal didn't compare to the one we had the day before in Sevilla, and I can't see why the Michelin restaurant guide would recommended this place of all. I assume we could have had a much more satisfying lunch for less €.

Loved it! Food was amazing. Staff were very helpful with the menu (suggested we order more - which was the right decision! and explained items in English as our Spanish isn’t perfect). Restaurant decor is very cool and there was a lovely view of the park from our table. Would certainly go back!

We were looking for a good restaurant with decent prices and chose Almanaque due to its high score and good reviews. We were disappointed with both service and food. Although the restaurant is on the Michelin 2024 list and its reviews are written in English by foreigners, the menu is only in Spanish and the waiters do not speak English and do not explain what you can eat. The dishes on the menu (translated with Google Translate) differ from what you have on your plate, for example someone in our group ordered “ Tagarninas esparragadas con huevo frito y morcilla” and received green beans instead of asparagus. Both the tuna and the fish (gallo) but mainly the tuna were in a lot of sauce with a strange taste. The starters and the desserts were good, but none of the 4 mains was great. The service was good at the beginning and indifferent during the meal.

I cannot say enough positive remarks for this restaurant. A true gem in Cadiz and worth their Michelin rating. The menu is small but the flavors packed into each sauce is spectacular. A limited fresh menu means you’re getting the best available, each dish is perfectly shared by 2 people. Two starters and two mains are perfect, yes this is more expensive than a traditional local spot… but less expensive than anything you’d find in the United States comparatively and much higher quality. Our best meal in Cadiz by far and we’ve hit all the top recommendations.

The best meal we had in Cadiz. The restaurant is a beautiful relaxing space with great music and vibe. The staff were friendly and helpful, and accommodating to us as non Spanish speakers. We shared the Medianoche (one each), the Choco Ali-oil and Arroz seco de marisco - accompanied by a bottle of wine, and finished with a not too sweet Milhojas for desert. Perfect for two people. Can’t recommend it enough!
